Food For Thought

My partner and I ate lunch today at Food for Thought. We were seated and our waiter Eric came over and spoke with us and told us about the specials of the day. He took our drink order and told us to take our time to look over the menu. When he returned with our drinks he had their homemade cheese rolls and sweet potato cornbread. We ordered fried ravioli for our appetizer. It came out quickly and was piping hot. It had homemade marinara sauce that was nicely seasoned. My partner got the Family reunion which was a portion of the meatloaf and a portion of roast beef. He ordered mashed potatoes and gravy and creamed spinach as his sides. I tasted both of his portions on the plate and they were absolutely delicious. The portions he received were extremely generous. I ordered one of the specials, fried oysters with loaded mash potatoes and cole slaw. The oysters were extremely fresh and fried to perfection. Nice and crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. The loaded mash potatoes were spot on with cheese, bacon, and sour cream. Now for dessert they had homemade key lime pie with a chocolate crust. Oh my it was out of this world delicious! Ianya one of the managers came over and asked us how we enjoyed our meal. We told her we loved it. She took my leftovers and put it in a take away box for me and my partner. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back! I totally recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is AWESOME!!! Soooo many amazing options! I could eat here every day for a week and not run out of options of what I would want while being torn was still wanting to eat the same things I’ve already had! Luckily, we all shared, so I got to try the amazing ribs, the pad Thai, which is a little spicy, the crab cake, and the fish and chips is out of this world! The sweet potato french fries with this sweet sauce they brought out to dip them in= droooool!!! The bread pudding was totally amazing! I don’t usually like beer, but if you look at that caramel one that’s the second one in the flight in the picture, it blew my mind! My partner loved all 5! My martini was delicious!! The owner came out and talked to us and took a picture with me. Unfortunately, I don’t remember our server’s name, but she was top notch!!!!!! Anticipated every need and worked quickly and flawlessly! I really dig the atmosphere here as well.

Absolutely amazing! The food was beyond our expectations for flavor and freshness. Our server was great. It was our first time and he gave a great run down of the menu and recommendations. It was super busy but only had to wait 30 minutes. We ordered the Nutty Chicken, I don't eat raw fish, and Pepper Encrusted Tuna Steak.

We selected this place since I noticed it had great reviews on gluten-free. I have two celiac daughters. We were not disappointed. The server brought out both a Parmesan roll for my husband and I in individually wrapped rolls that were gluten-free for my daughters. One of my daughters tried to order something and the waiter said the computer would trigger it as gluten. They have a great system set up to accommodate gluten-free. We ordered four different dishes. The portion sizes are not huge, but they were enough. The flavor of the dishes was great. Atmosphere is as you would expect in a restaurant. Nothing fancy, but definitely not a dive. We all agreed it was a hit and a great find and we would definitely be back.

Everything about food for thought was THOUGHT OUT!! Had ribs and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers, pot roast, meatloaf, mashed potatoes w gravy and grilled zucchini and the steak and crab cakes.... banana pudding pie for dessert. Vegan options. Great atmosphere. Quotes located throughout were awesome. Even the simple games at the table ( no electronic games) were great. Thank you for giving good thoughts while eating good food. We went for birthday dinner while visiting Williamsburg. Couldn't get seating right away so we sat at bar. We meet some nice people. Food was great. Drinks were excellent. They had a vegan meatloaf that was very good.

Food for Thought was hands down the highlight of our trip. Williamsburg is nice enough but this place is the reason I would come back. The food is outstanding. Everything we ordered was thoughtful, well executed, and genuinely delicious. You can tell real care goes into both the menu and the way it is prepared. This was our second time here and it somehow managed to be just as impressive as the first. The service is just as memorable as the food. Every table seemed to get a visit from the manager, who took the time to check in and make sure everything was great. That kind of attention is rare and it shows how much they care about the experience, not just the meal. Food for Thought is one of those rare places where amazing food and genuine hospitality come together. If you are in Williamsburg, do not miss it.

Always a pleasure when Im home Ilin Williamsburg to visit this establishment. The food is always delicious 😋 and fresh. And the choices amd varied and many. I happen to love bread pudding and their's is quite delicious. The service is Always excellent 👌🏾, always greeted with smiling faces 😀 which Always helps with my digestion. Easy 5 stars 🌟 for me.

We read a few comments online advising to skip Food For Thought but it was the only restaurant we called that didn't have a massive wait on a Saturday night. We arrived, joined the waitlist, and only ended up waiting about 20 minutes for the two of us. We saw other large groups able to be seated too. Our server was very friendly and walked us through everything. Our cocktails were great. All of the food was quite delicious. The shrimp boat appetizer surprised us the most - the bruschetta tomatoes are such a nice complement to the dish. The fish was massive and the skinny fries were addictive. The crab cakes could use a little more crab but still enjoyable. During dinner we saw the manager checking in with each table (including us), refilling waters, and cleaning tables. Although the restaurant was completely packed, the staff clearly have a well run system to keep everything going as efficiently as possible. We completely disagree with the comments we read and would recommend trying this restaurant!

Was visiting from Richmond to visit friends who came from Hampton and West Virginia for shopping and lunch. I chose this restaurant because it had 4+ stars on Yelp. It's definitely a 5!!!!! Wow, all of us were impressed with our meals. I had the pot roast, it was the best I've ever had. We also had dessert and our pecan pie also was the best! Our server Matt D was very friendly and engaging. FYI make sure you park in the restaurant parking lot. If you park in their neighbors lots you WILL DEFINITELY BE TOWED

I honestly can't believe its been so long since we've last come here. Although tbh, we're quite far from here so I'm sure that has a substantial reason. Even though time has passed, the quality, ambiance, and amazingness of this place has remained very consistent. During our latest visit, we were able to bring our daughter and she was very elated with the food choices, plethora of things to read and do. I've always had a special attachment to this place b/c I truly have yet to find a bad thing about it. Food - amazing. Service - our server was top notch. Very professional yet entertaining and was just a gentleman to our daughter. Hands-down, if you're in the area, this place is a must visit! Food Taste: 5 Overall Service: 5 Value of food to cost: 5 Facility: 5 Ambiance: Very true to the play on words. The area is decorated with very nice things to read/look at and ponder. My family and I stopped here for lunch today. First impression, it must be good because the parking lot is packed and people are waiting outside to be seated. Once inside and seated, our waiter was great! Very personable and HONEST about the menu and his opinions which was definitely appreciated! My son ordered the kids grilled shrimp with fries. I ordered the ying and yang salmon with mushroom rice (yes there are mushrooms in it) and broccoli. My mother ordered the crab cake with Cole slaw and fries. To make a long story short, everything was 10/10! There were no complaints from anyone and most plates were empty. Heads up: they do bring out bread and cornbread first :) which was also tasty Definitely a cute spot and worth the hype. It's nothing fancy but if you want a good meal, come here.

It's a cute restaurant with the theming but the food is just average. Our server was nice and tried to help us pick out the better sides but it just didn't meet expectations having seen the 4.5 rating. The crab cakes looked more like biscuits but they were good. The beets and the rice were just bland. The breads that they brought out prior to our meals were yummy though.

This place is awesome! All the phrases on the wall along with shirts and stuff at the entrance is pretty neat. The service of the staff is top notch and made sure we didn't have to wait hardly at all for drinks, bread, or our food! Speaking of the food, it's delicious and very well cooked. I will definitely be back!

Come to this place! My first Time here and couldn't stop enjoying the food and the whole experience! Everything fresh, flavorful, well cooked and delicious! Don't hesitate, just come and enjoy it!!!

The food is great! Bigger portions than I needed. The waitress was very hospitable- answered all of our questions(group of 8). They have everything from meatloaf(with gravy or ketchup) to ribs to steak! Not sure about desserts- too full to order any. Need to get there early- parking is a little challenging. We got there at 4 and walked right in. We left at 5:30 and the parking lot was full and folks were already waiting inside! This will definitely be one of my go to stops in Williamsburg. I would take cash-they do charge a 3%surcharge on your credit card. It's posted everywhere, so don't act like you don't know!!

We ate here Jan 2, 2025. We had a party of 10 and went early, the staff was very friendly and after a short wait our table was ready . We had a starter of Ahi Tuna which was very good everyone enjoyed the tasting and with their house made rolls it sparked our appetites. Everyone enjoyed their food with a minor exception of the stuffed squash being slightly undercooked. My favorite is the shrimp and grits it's now 2 on my all time favorite and I highly recommend trying it, My wife loves the pot roast and will choose it most times we come here it is very good The staff is great and very helpful an

I had a pretty good first time experience. I went with some friends on a week day, lunch time and we were seated right away. We drove from Richmond, I wanted to go because I have heard so much about food of thought and really wanted to try it. I don't eat most sea foods but my friends were excited about the seafood. They have been there before and loved it. First of all I love how the outside looked, I like the plants around the building, neat and green..lol. The inside was comfortable and cozy. Like I mentioned, it was a week day and lunch time but it was pretty packed. We called ahead before showing up to make sure of no long wait. The food was good, pricey but you do get a lot of food and is filling. My friends had sea food. I really enjoyed the complimentary rolls and cornbread. Our server was very nice and attentive, he suggested things that we tried in the menu. Also the manager came around to every table to say hi and ask about our experience. We all had great things to say. I plan on going back.

This was good, but not as good as expected. The cocktail I got was very tasty, but I think it was pretty weak. The pot roast wasn't tender and flavorful, but not something I couldn't make at home. Everything aside from the bread was good, but not special. The bread though... wow. Great stuff. Very soft. We enjoyed our meal, but not enough to return on our trip.

We arrived at 5:40 on a Monday, we were surprised to see the parking lot already full but we were easily able to park over at Ripleys per the sign. There were people waiting but no wait for two. We opted to sit at the bar & by 6:30 the bar was full. The drinks and food were absolutely amazing. They have a robust menu of drinks and food so there is sure to be something for everyone. I overheard a conversation about allergies and found the restaurant to be very responsive, knowledgeable and proactive. Richard served us at the bar and was attentive. I had the strawberrry lemon drop martini, da Vinci dippers (fried ravioli) and the steak salad. Each was so tasty- I would get all again. The Thai dish had a little spice but the kind that makes you want to keep going back for more. We opted for after dinner drinks, although the desserts sounded good. I intend to go back with my husband soon!

The best bite of my trip to Williamsburg. I found this place randomly on social media while looking up places to eat on vacation. It also was right down the street from my hotel so that was a win. The place has a good amount of parking and lots of visitors. I made a reservation two weeks before by calling the restaurant so I had no wait. Loved that option. Food was awesome- crab cakes were cooked to perfection. All crab hardly any filler. The steak was awesome as well. The chicken on my hubs sandwich was a little overcooked but had a great flavor. The biscuits they bring out before the start were delicious. Waitress got us what we needed promptly even with several tables. The only thing that stuck out to me because I am very observant was that the manager on my visit stopped by the table on the left of me and the right of me to check on how their meals where and some small chat with one table. She never even looked our direction to check on our table or the table to my far right. Maybe I jumped to conclusion but this threw me off. Overall food and my server were great.

Quirky restaurant serving American comfort food in Williamsburg! Quirky because Benjamin Franklin seems to be the mascot. As the restaurant name suggests, the place is filled with trivia. I wanted to try one of the original restaurants at Colonial Williamsburg, but I had to put aside my foodie/food history nerd self to accommodate our friends' toddler. Kid friendly restaurant to the rescue! Service was friendly and accommodating. Food was very filling. Comfy, safe place to share a meal with the family and to fill up before the visit to Colonial Williamsburg.

Service- Outstanding. Food - Outstanding. Ambiance - Not too noisy, just right. Grits, ribs, mac-n-cheese, grits and shrimp, and the meatloaf. 7 days in Williamsburg and we ate here three times. Do not pass this place up! Outstanding!

Upon arrival, my husband and I were informed that there would be a 30-minute wait. Despite this, we decided to give it a try since it had received great ratings on Yelp. While waiting, we were pleasantly surprised when the staff brought us a delicious appetizer to sample. It was a nice touch. We were eventually seated after a 20-minute wait. The servers were friendly, although their service was nothing out of the ordinary. However, the quality of the food was exceptional. Every dish tasted fresh, including the bread basket they served at the beginning. The bread was moist and freshly baked. Even though our expectations were high, the main course did not disappoint. One unique aspect of this restaurant is that they provide a game to play at the table. My husband and I found it enjoyable to pass the time while waiting for our food. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Williamsburg.

Paper on the tables with cloth napkins. Free rolls and corn bread upon seating. Corn bread: Dry and Ill-flavorful, needed more salt, sugar and butter Love the fact that the ketchup was Organic and Corn Syrup free from Trader Joe's, hoping they start sourcing their Salt & pepper from there as well. French's yellow mustard, hoping they switch to Organic. The butter is real butter! Card games and discussion cards on the table- so cute! sweet potato fries could have used more crisp to them. Steak was delicious and grass-fed! Ranch lacked the buttermilk flavor but was still pretty good. Mashed potatoes were pretty good. Skinny fries = shoe string fries Hostess wasn't friendly but all waiters and bussers were!

Very popular Bar/Restaurant. We had the Beer Flight to drink. A bunch of local breweries. Delicious IPAs. Hubby had the Thai One On with Chicken. I didn't get a picture in time, but it was excellent he said. Mine was the Combo Filet/Crab cake. It may have been the best crab cake I have ever eaten. It was mostly crab with a teeny bit of breading. It was so light and flavorful. The filet was delicious. Cooked perfectly Med Rare. Very tender flavorful meat. Sides were good. Beets and sweet potatoes for me...but the mains is where they truly shined. We ate at the bar (no wait) bs waiting for 30-45 min for a table. Bartender was great! If I get back one day I want to try the Shrimp and Grits!!!

So the key to not waiting long, go eat Linner at 3:30-400pm. Walked right in and bar was open and plenty of tables available. Started off with an Old Fashion and the wife had a Cosmo. Absolutely perfect drinks to start. We had the hummus and veggies w/ pita and it was so good..the wife thought hummus was a bit too spicy..I like spicy. The wife's entree was crab cake over portobello mushroom with some mushroom with special type of rice. Wow, it tasted so good! I had the panko crusted haddock, wild mushroom rice and peas n corn, absolutely wonderful. The service was impeccable, thank you Sueleg!

I ate here again this past week and once again it didn't disappoint. From being able to call ahead for priority seating, to friendly staff to yummy food, this is my go-to place in Williamsburg. Had a friend visiting from out of town and came for dinner. She enjoyed her wine and they were great on water refills. She enjoyed her salad and I loved my veggie plate with a salad. The bread basket was delicious. The manager stopped by to make sure had a good meal and a good dining experience.

A nice surprise just outside of Williamsburg! This place was POPPING when we got there. Popular for good reason I would say. Very accommodating with giving my partner a non-diary option for the heavily buttered rolls they serve as an appetizer - and they didn't charge us for it! So friendly. My girlfriend LOVED the tuna - and I'd second that too from the few bites I had. Personally wish I ordered differently, as my Creamed Spinach side dish was fairly bland and underwhelming and the oysters were an acquired taste - but that is nobody's fault but my own. The theme here is super fun, especially considering the region we were visiting... it just felt... IMPORTANT! Worth a visit if you're driving through :)

Food For Thought is an American family restaurant that opened in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2006. It was founded by Howard Hopkins. After becoming a founding partner at the Cottage Cafe in Bethany Beach (DE), Hopkins found himself in Williamsburg for a new business opportunity. A few years later, he thought that the theme of "food for thought" would be perfect for a restaurant in Williamsburg. After two more years of hard work, the new restaurant finally opened its doors to the public. The menu consists of American classics, ethnic dishes, healthy vegetarian options, and seafood specialties. The decor is based around great thinkers, inventors, scientists, social leaders and humanitarians. Additionally, discussion cards are placed upon the tables to help spur thought-charged conversation. Food For Thought has won numerous accolades in the years since they first opened. My family and I visited Food For Thought for dinner this past summer while we were on a road trip. It came highly recommended as one of Williamsburg's best restaurants. I loved all of the decor and especially liked the logo with Benjamin Franklin donning a chef's hat; Mr. Franklin is one of my favorite historical figures. The menu was very eclectic and there were also quite a few specials that day. I ordered "The Best of Both Worlds" (char-grilled grass-fed filet mignon, merlot butter, lump crab cakes, steamed broccoli, creamy grits), my wife ordered the "Bacon Wrapped Scallops" (large & juicy North Atlantic scallops wrapped in applewood smoked bacon, topped with a drizzle of lemon butter cream sauce, served on a bed of jasmine mushroom rice, mashed sweet potatoes), and our sons ordered the "Pasta Shells" (one with marinara and the other with cheese). To drink, I had the "Honey Peach Old Fashioned" (Ragged branch straight bourbon whiskey, peach, orange, bourbon-soaked cherries, drizzle of honey, peach bitters) and my wife had the "Passionfruit Margarita" (Jose Cuervo, Grand Gala, house margarita mix, passion fruit, sugar rim). The entire meal and experience was truly memorable. Delicious food and drinks, friendly and helpful staff, and great decor! We had a wonderful time at Food For Thought and highly recommend them!

The crab cakes were AMAZING! The rolls and cornbread were also so good! All of the staff were really nice and efficient. Will definitely come back

My family and I have been coming to Food for Thought for quite some time now and it has never disappointed. This time of the year they have several holiday cocktails and specials. We ordered two of the shrimp boats which were delicious to start. Plus the warm bread that they bring to the table. The holiday mule, very merry old fashioned and hot apple cider cocktails were well made and festive. As for the entrees we had two shrimp and grits, the family reunion(pot roast & meatloaf) and a rack of ribs. None of us could even finish and had to get to-go boxes for most of it. The waitress was super nice and the manager stopping by to chat added to the experience. If you are ever in the Williamsburg area it's worth the wait. They don't do reservations but accept call in to be added to a "wait list" at the time you would like to ensure your wait is reduced. This spot is always busy and every table is full.

Food for Thought! Wow! This place was a welcome change from the norm! Definitely a gem in Williamsburg! I had the crowned salmon with broccoli and loaded mashed potatoes and cornbread! Everything was excellent! I almost ate all my food in the restaurant but got full 3/4 of the way! Outside of that, the host, the waitress, the chef, and the manager all came to the table at some point to ensure all was going ok! I could not ask for a better experience! Thank you! I'd give this place 5+ if that were possible!

I highly recommend this place for everyone. We were promptly seated on a Friday night and our service was friendly and quick. Most importantly, our burger, salmon, cobb salad, and kids' ribs (nobody else has ribs as a kids menu option btw) were finger-licking delicious. Oh yes, they also served the most savory pieces of warm cheese bread and corn bread. With famous quotes and activities for the children, you can't go wrong with this place. The manager even came around to every table to make sure of that.

We went for lunch on a Saturday and parking was already a mess. We parked in correct overflow lot and got a chuckle out of the numerous literal warning signs on your way into the restaurant about parking in the wrong lot. Our server was friendly and the place clean, but the food was just not great. It was fine at best and not worth the price. The fried shrimp wasn't really crispy and was bland and the chicken sandwich was also underwhelming. On the other hand, the sides were good.

You have read the other reviews. Goid food, good service. Only issues are that their success makes them a very crowded and loud venue. If you can get past these, it's your place.

We didn't have any trouble finding parking when we arrived. There was however a wait. We had called to be on the wait list ahead of time, but still had to wait there for another 40mins. While we were waiting they offered ice water and were giving out appetizer samples which was kind. We were greeted by a kind gentleman who was our waiter. He got us our drinks promptly and gave us a basket of corn bread/ biscuits to munch on while we waited for our food. We ordered the fried oysters, the shrimp and grits, the steak and crab cakes, mashed potatoes,mussels, sweet potato fries, green beans, crab soup and the ribs. Everything was really good except the crab cakes. They were so dry and flavorless. I especially enjoyed the steak, sides, and the fried oysters. Service was excellent. Our waiter was really attentive and the manager also checked on us.

My husband and I left the Outlets and just took a chance on a restaurant for lunch and landed in this gem. Our food was delicious, the waiter was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Our food came out hot, even the skinny fries, and tasty. Their menus offer many unique options for lunch and dinner. What a unique combination for my grilled cheese - lump crab meat and asparagus - yum! The fried shrimp, we both agreed, seemed fresh and perfectly breaded. We can't wait to go back next time we are on the other side of the water. Check them out!

Food for Thought always delivers a delicious meal and great drinks no matter if you dine at the bar or at a table. Service is excellent in either. We dined at the bar during this visit, and we were able to order from the whole menu. I started with a white flight, which was a great deal for trying five different wines. I enjoyed the cilantro and jerk chicken dish and my friend ordered the shrimp and grits. Both portions were perfect, if not a little large. The bar area is vibrant and cheerful without being too boisterous. I would dine again either in the bar or in one of their dining rooms.

Really love this place. I've been passing this place for a while and finally decided to try it! Lots of options for everyone. HIGHLY recommend the combo chicken platter - comes with the cilantro lime + jerk chicken. Was so much better than expected and very flavorful. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. Will be returning!

First timers here. The place was hopping for lunch on the Saturday, a week before Christmas. Service was a little slow at first, but the server made up for later in the experience. They provided complimentary rolls and corn bread which was a nice touch. I also witnessed the owner visiting tables randomly to check on their guest. He did not visit us. My wife got the roasted vegetable bisque soup and I got the meatloaf sandwich. It was pretty good. A little mushy and a little messing, but good. I probably wouldn't get it again, but I would definingly return and try something different. The margarita was excellent. Nice job.

The parking lot was almost completely packed on a Wednesday afternoon, but there were plenty of signs that said additional parking. We were greeted by the hostess right away and seated. There was plenty of seating inside. The menus were a bit overwhelming with all of the pages and content. I wish there were more flight options other than the beers. I would've loved it if they had a local flight option to try the different local liquors they had available. We ordered our food and beverages. Our food came out quickly, and the manager came by to check on us. Our waiter Eshaun was super quick and friendly. The food and drinks were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors of the beets! The fish was cooked just right. The kids asked about sauces and mixing them. The kitchen was able to meet their various demands of sauces. We ordered an Oreo sundae that the kids were going to share. Our waiter was amazing enough to put it on 2 separate plates and split it without being asked!! Definitely went above and beyond with the kind gesture. Our family definitely recommends making this spot a pit stop, and we will be coming back!!

We called ahead and I'm glad we did! We were only waiting ten mins and the place was packed! Food was great the pad Thai was given rave reviews, the steak salad was awesome, the flounder fresh and tasty!

I have been going to FFT for several years. I have raved about the food and service on many occasions. I also encouraged team building at the restaurant. Meet Howard a few time, wonderful to see the owner so invested! To our disappointment, our waitress was probably one of the worst ever to provide service at food for thought. The restaurant is busy "as usual " but it has runs so smoothly in the past visits. Monica - waitress : we sat down for 15 minutes staring at the menu waiting for her to take our drink order. She disappeared again. She finally introduced her self and obtain beverage order. Poof she was gone again. Beverages also took a long time getting to the table. (3) waters (1)ice tea (2)lemonades. We were ready to order when drinks delivered . She asked to give her a min she will be right back to take our order/poof gone another 15-17 minutes She delivered plates and no bread basket. Another staff provided after beverages almost gone. She arrived finally to take our order approx 40 later into seating. Prior to meal arriving my son asked Monica if a spot on the wall could cleaned. Made him feel sick looking at dried discolored food by his head . She went to clean it but my son offered to do it , she had gave Him the cleaning supplies. That's was unacceptable. She should have apologized for not being cleaned and performed it her self, not a customer, she had gloves on , not my son. The whole experience was awe full. Came for lunch with friends, had the complimentary cornbread and it was tasty but not too sweet. For lunch I had the crab cake with cream spinach and the fries. The crab cake was very good not a lot of filler.

Everything is just fabulous. If you are in Williamsburg you really need to pay this place a visit. The food is outstanding, I had the baked cod and the wife had the roast beef. The soups were delicious as well. Our waiter was kind and helpful in our decision making since it was our first visit. The setting is nice with several different kinds of seating arrangements.

We found this place in Yelp as we began our vacation in Williamsburg. I can't say enough great about this place. Its decor and theme is very colonial with quotes from historical figures. It's a casual yet classy place. The staff were so very sweet, helpful, dressed up, and thorough. The drinks were superb! I got an apple cider margarita. Hubby got an old fashioned and a Carmel macchiato stout. All were unusual and delicious!! Food wise, we got the meatloaf, pot roast, mashed players and grits. All were superb! For dessert we got the apple pie tacos. They were really good but I wish I would've gotten the bread pudding instead. The manager visited tables and was sweet. Our server was amazing !!!! Upon leaving, I purchased one of their really cool tshirts (various Patriot and inspirational quotes). I learned there that they offer a generous 25% military discount in their food (which we didn't ask about with our bill so didn't get to take advantage of that) We're in Williamsburg for 5 days and may very well return !! Can't recommend this place enough.

I liked that before walking into the restaurant there was a big ole sign on the door that warned you there's a 3% convenience charge if you paid with card. I appreciate that a lot compared to places that don't disclose except for the fine print on the menu or after they swipe your card. The receipt also conveniently shows you the price for if you paid with cash vs card. I got the nutty chicken and the chicken was really good! Instead of the skinny fries I probably should've gotten broccoli. But the rolls and corn bread were both also really good. I just wished they had some cinnamon sugar butter for the cornbread and not just regular butter. Otherwise the food was really good.

Okay. Where do I start? This place is amazing! We only waited maybe a half hour to get our table on a Saturday night. While we waited they came around with ice water and stuffed mushrooms. The food is so delicious! Everyone at the table got something different, we all could rave about how good it all was. Brady was our waitress absolutely an amazing person, so friendly and nice. Even met Edwin one of the owners another amazing soul! Everyone checked on us to make sure all was good. Food came out fast, highly recommended if your nearby stop in, you most certainly will not be mad you stopped by.

LOVE this place. Meat-eaters? Vegans? Seafood heads? No problem. All will be happy. Great service, fabulously extensive menu, good alcohol options, and great specials. So imaginative and everything was tasty. Not just your typical sides. Skinny fries are SO much better than they should be. And warm beets with orange zest? Mind blown. Staff is so helpful, polite, and professional. They are careful with dietary allergies and preferences. Bathrooms clean and good sized. Did I mention we went there on Xmas eve and it was busy??! These folks will have our business any time we are in Williamsburg. Bonus = outlet mall is 2 miles away.

Excellent food and service. Seared tuna salad was outstanding. Great atmosphere. Love the great quotes on the walls!

This is a perfect spot for your family vacation. The food is tasty, reasonable portions with attentive staff. The decor is family friendly with enough things to keep you engaged on the experience rather than your phone. My hubby & I enjoyed it, as did the kids! Price is reasonable too.

Eric was honestly so sweet and kind. He was on top of the service beyond my expectations. The food was delicious! The kids pasta shells with cheese sauce was delicious, the chicken tenders were perfectly cooked unlike every other chicken tenders thts are over fried and nasty. The skinny fries, pot roast and OMG the GRITS whoaaaaa so so so so yummy holy cow!!!!! Literally the grits were so smooth and creamy and I loved every bite! This was a great experience. And the restaurant is so perfectly set up with such incredible sayings all around and conversations cards on the table. Aww I love it here

Friendly staff, quick service, but just ok food. Had lunch with a friend here today. I opted for the crabcake sandwich and skinny fries. The fries were delicious and didn't even need ketchup. The crabcake, on the other hand, was more like loose, dry, fishy tasting crab on a roll. Once I took a bite, the whole thing fell apart all over the place. The old bay mayo and cole slaw were not enough to add moisture to this bland and dry concoction. The menu listed this at $16.50, but I was charged $20. Thoroughly unimpressed and would not come back here again.

One of not many restaurants open in Williamsburg on a Monday so expect it to be extremely busy. We did priority seating since they did not do reservations (basically call ahead). We waited about 20-30 minutes after our priority time. The restaurant has cute decor and dimmed inside for a nice intimate feel. Service was absolutely excellent. Thomas was an amazing server. We had a large party, 5 adults and 6 kids. With how busy it was and our party size we were expecting longer wait times for food. The complimentary breads came out quickly and were delicious! Surprisingly the food came out pretty quick as well. Everyone got what they ordered, no mistakes. They even gave 2 complimentary desserts since we were celebrating my mom and nephews birthdays. The food was pretty good. I personally loved the crab cakes, full Of lump meat with little filler. The mash potatoes were also amazing. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. We would definitely return on our annual trip to Williamsburg.

Went to Food for Thought for the first time per my boss's recommendation. Called in advance for the priority waitlist, but didn't need it since the place had plenty of seating at 4 pm on Saturday. My mom had the Yin Yang Salmon, my wife the lunch order of ribs, and I enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. Everything was delicious! I read on a Yelp review about the sign in the bathroom, so I just had to check it out. I didn't really get the sense that this place gave off any right wing rhetoric. The place had pretty cool decor and famous quotes throughout. There were even conversation starter cards on the table. Will definitely come back again the next time I'm in Williamsburg.
