My husband and I met at Food Land Market for a lunch date. We both love Middle Eastern food and we had walked through the market before, but wanted to come back to try the food.
The prices were pretty outrageous. We spent $50 for two lunch plates, an order of hummus, two waters, and an Arabic coffee.
The price would have been easier to handle if the portions were bigger, but I received 3 pieces of kubba, 1/2 salad, and maybe a few tbls of hummus. My husband received maybe 4 oz of meat in his lunch plate and the same small portions of salad and hummus.
The wait was also a bit longer than we expected, especially for lunch. Not a problem for us because we weren't in a time crunch, but if it were my lunch break, I would be very anxious and rushed.
Ok, despite all this, the food was delicious. The kubba was some of the best I've had. It was crunchy on the outside and meat in the inside was delicious! I gave one piece to my husband and it felt like a real sacrifice. He really enjoyed his food. He had chicken, steak, and a kebab. The hummus was also delicious. It was served with the traditional flat pita, not the fresh baked pita you can get at some restaurants. However, I did see bags of fresh baked bread in the back and I was tempted to buy a bag because it looked delicious.
If you're craving good Middle Eastern food, this is a great option in Boise. Just be prepared to open the pocket book!
