Foodland Kailua is a fantastic local gem! The poke bar is a standout, offering fresh, delicious options with friendly staff who even provide samples for newcomers. The store has a great selection of local treats, cheeses, and essentials. Prices are reasonable, and the rewards program adds value. A must-visit for a true Hawaiian grocery experience! 😎

My family came for the Poke. We ate the poke. Then we visited 4 more times during our stay. The poke is affordable but it's also delicious. It was wonderful.

Google
Here for the great poke bowl. Fresh, generous and probably cheapest on the island. Definitely feels like a local only spot ;)

Google
Friendly Services, clean Facilities local and Homegrown products, Fresh Seafood, meats and Bakery items.

Matthew Martinez

Google
Sad to see the seafood section staff poor service. One is made to feel beholden to actually get an order and significantly less poke serving on 3rd order over a week.

Great portions of poke!

Franklin is the best. He assembled Poke for us with intelligence and humor. And it was delicious— definitely coming back!!!

Google
Good location in Kailua. Staff helpful and friendly. Really enjoy picking up a meal at the Deli at Food Land for a change of meals. Definitely a place to pick up a good meal to eat over at Kailua Beach. Parking can be crowded. The Coffee Bean is conveniently located to the left of the front door.

Yelp
Best poke bowls! Head into the grocery store and on the right hand side you'll see the deli section where they sell poke bowls! You are able to taste test the poke, so take your time and pick your favorite! I asked the attendant what the better poke options of the day were and he was really helpful explaining the different types!! I will always recommend this spot to anyone who is a poke fan.

Yelp
The older Hawaiian person at the poke counter with the neck tattoos might be the most miserable person I have ever come across. He holds up the line to take joy in roasting tourists for pronouncing "poke" wrong. (02/20/25 around 5:30 pm) He's incredibly rude about everything. He yells at every tourist and tries to make them feel stupid. He caused a really long line because he had to make his statements about everything they asked for. He clearly doesn't like tourists, which is fine. Find a job that doesn't include them. Made the whole line uncomfortable, and it gets even worse when he doesn't know the codes for a lot of the products. I'm really hoping he's a new hire because he ruined the poke experience for at least 25 people standing in line while he attacked customers. I think he should be drug tested

Yelp
We ordered a large fresh fish poke bowl. We considered the previously frozen one but we figured since we were in Hawaii, we gotta go for the fresh. The fresh poke bowl with 2 choices of fresh came out to be $21.99. We choose the fresh secret spicy ahi poke and the fresh shoyu ahi. I'd rate this a solid 8/10 for poke as a whole and a 10/10 for supermarket poke. The fish was not as buttery as ones you can get at a restaurant / small poke shop but you could tell from biting into it that the fish was fresh. It was probably because of how they mass produce it that it feels different than getting in from a poke shop. It was not chewy or had any discoloration or slimy features. This Foodlands location had SO MANY options for fresh and previously frozen poke. The person working behind the counter was friendly, funny and definitely kept the line moving, which was greatly appreciated. We ended up getting a previously frozen poke bowl a few days later. It came out to be $10.99 for 2 choices of fish. We got the same two types of poke (secret spicy and shoyu) but with the previously frozen ahi instead. We rated this a 7/10. The texture was a lot chewer that the fresh fish. The flavor profiles were about the same. The color of the fish looked different compared to the fresh fish. This was a lot more pink than the fresh frozen one. Overall, a solid convenient choice for poke in Oahu especially due to the variety and ease of multiple locations alone! You can't go wrong with either choices!

Yelp
Foodland Honolulu Hawaii Food: A variety Fruit and Vegetables. Grocery store items comparable to a Kroger's or Walmart. Assorted exotic hot and cold foods, a lot of seafood options and wide range of sushi. Service: Service was great! friendly and polite from food stand cooks to check out clerk. Ambiance: Clean and orderly, comparable to Kroger's or Walmart.

Yelp
Hubs received an instacart order as a get well gif including 2 containers of strawberries. I had the kiddies with me that day so before we picked up our orders for sushi and cold noodles from 2 shops in this shopping center we started here first. All we needed was brown sugar. Bud can read now so he found the section with sugars. He showed me the dark brown sugar box. I said, "Let's get the light one." So fast he found the correct one. In the afternoon after our one hour quiet time( no tv; no iPad games, only nap or read a book) we had chilled fresh strawberries with light brown sugar and whipped cream. Sweetie thought it was the cat's meow cuz the smile on her face as she took her first bite- precious!

Yelp
Great poke, with many varieties and choices at a very reasonable price. Plus you get to pick up groceries while you are there since it is after all a grocery store.

Yelp
Warm food is always good on the go! This is a must stop for me for a quick bite to take to the beach. People are always nice and haven't had an issue when I come in this location!

Yelp
I've heard so much about Foodland, so it was the first stop that I hit once I landed in Hawai'i (I'm from the Mainland). While it's your typically grocery store (where you can also get beach supplies, if needed!), I came for the poke. They have a HUGE selection of different kinds of poke and ready-to-eat seafood, including but not limited to: crab, clams, and oysters. I got the spicy ahi poke and a salmon poke, and they were delicious, fresh, and filling. The sauces/marinade were flavorful and unique. The staff working here were also so sweet and kept offering free samples of haupia, which was delicious. Definitely a great stop.

Yelp
I really like this location for poke! They have a lot of tuna flavors here (: my favorite was the maui onion!
google avatar

Camila H.

Yelp
We heard foodland poke is TOP! So we had to pick some up to snack on by the beach. When we were in line, one of the locals said the "California" was their go-to, so I had to give that one a try. It was BOMB!!! Probably one of my favorites! The octopus one is also pretty good, give that one a shot if you like octopus :) We also got a side of rice and some chips- perfect combo!!!

Yelp
Always great poke here at any Food land location. Variety is great & the freshness is spot on! The make the poke with care! Never was not satisfied, with any purchase made. Service is always good & the presentation of the poke looks always appetizing! The whole fish department is the neighborhood place to go & the sanitation & cleanliness is always noticeable. You can count on Foodland for excellent poke & good variety!
google avatar

Yelp
This is always our first stop when we come back to Kailua. I can't eat poke on the mainland because I've been spoiled by poke at Foodland. First bowl of our trip: Ahi Limu Poke Bowl. Always great service, fresh fish! Great prices! I love Foodland! Thank you!
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
The greatest thing that ever happened! Every single person that I have dealt with for my pickup orders has been the kindest and most helpful for ordering & bringing the order out! I love them all & Foodland too! Aloha to all for such a wonderful service!

Yelp
Nice place for poke and grocery shopping before heading out to beach. Brown rice, furikake and poke. Yummy and healthy meals.

Yelp
EXTREMELY IMPRESSED. Came in not expecting much but oh man everything was so good when it came to hot food. Karaoke chicken was fiiiiirre the wedges were fiiiire the salt and vinegar wings were fiiiire the poke was fiiiire!!! Seriously for the price and quality this was amazing. Great selection in store of produce as well. Highly suggest stopping by and checking it out

Yelp
High quality, affordable poke! Each time I visit Foodland, I walk straight to the poke counter. There's hardly ever a line, so it's super convenient! The salmon and ahi are fresh and tender, and the sauces are deeply flavorful. Combined, the resulting poke is *chef's kiss.* There's ample flavors and proteins to choose from. Workers are laid back and friendly. The store overall is clean and organized. We always walk out of Foodland with happy tummies!
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
WOW!!! Dropped some dimes on the Big Island tenderloin steak and it was DELICIOUS!! Also it was about $10 less per pound than Whole Foods, from da mainland! Went just cook 'um one hot skillet with a little bit of seasoning, and came out SO ONO!! Make sure you cook it ONLY to medium rare, otherwise lose money. Mahalo Plenty!!!

Lisa O.

Yelp
Freshest, tastiest poke ever! I'm ruined for ever enjoying it anywhere else. Thanks a lot, Foodland.

Yelp
Foodland will fulfill your basic grocery needs, but it's the hot food section and poke variety that win me over! It's so convenient to pick up good food for a quick meal or picnic on the beach. Highlights were poke, salt and vinegar wings, spam musubi, and gummy candies (3D pineapples, sour lychee, li hing covered ones). The poke obviously won't be the best that you'll ever find on the island, but it was pretty good for supermarket poke. I was definitely tempted by the ube cake slices, mochi options, and macadamia nut ice cream though, and apparently, you can find Ted's Bakery haupia pies here sometimes. They also sell adorable little tote bags with illustrations of spam musubi and pineapples. There's just no way you can visit Hawaii without going to Foodland!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Literally the BEST poke we've ever eaten. My favorite girl behind the counter made sure to get us a sample of each and bear amount per size cup not too expensively packed to discover our favorites. Tried many others all over including other foodlands and nothing has compared. And who doesn't love Kailua?
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Foodland is always a go to spot for Poke! They have an assortment of flavors but my go to spicy ahi. You can request for a poke bowl which comes with rice or you can ask for a specific weight of poke. Usually 1/2 a pound is just enough for me! The poke tastes so fresh and buttery, I always crave it

Yelp
Amazingly short lines. Kailua residents must get up late. This location Is clean and everything's well spaced apart. Picked up a sushi platter for New Years day. The counter person was very friendly as well as the check out Clerk. Stay safe and wear your mask. .

Yelp
This grocery store is amazing when it comes to fresh poke. Like your usual market, they have everything offered. But the main things that is always a line is the seafood counter, which basically is poke. And poke they have, so many choices to choose from. As well as priced very well compared to other places. They also have the hot food section as well, and sushi counter. But mainly always makes a stop for poke.

Carren C.

Yelp
Good variety of food items, especially poke! Everything is fresh and service is good... Enjoy shopping for my groceries here.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Good poke at a reasonable price. We also enjoyed some of the other hot food offerings like Indian food. Grab your utensils, napkins, extra plates for sharing, sit outside at the tables and enjoy your island snack. The place is fairly clean and the service is typical aloha spirit.

Yelp
I was on my way to Kailua beach and decided to drop by this Foodland for some poke. If you are looking for a great place for poke, this is the place! If you go in the morning they have mounds of all kinds of poke to select from. I highly recommend getting their ahi shoyu poke - very fresh and flavorful. You won't be disappointed. Of mention, if you want a cake fix, they also have a good selection of individual slices of chantilly, ube and guava cakes. They also have a wide variety of goods for bringing back to the mainland for gift giving. I love this place!!

Danielle G.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing and best place to get Fresh Poke from that we were able to pick up and take straight to the beach. We loved it so much and so thankful to have the best service. We loved how friendly everyone was too! Perfect place to go.

Yelp
My family has been coming to Foodland ever since I was a young girl. We often opt to go to Foodland over Whole Foods or Safeway for specific types of produce. They always have a worker at the door who greets you with a smile and they supply alcohol wipes so you can wipe your cart handle down upon entry. The fruits and vegetables at Foodland are fresh and affordable, especially if you have the Maika'i card. However, I've recently started to price some of the other items there such as chicken thighs and milk (specifically Lactaid - lactose free milk). I'm not going to lie... you are definitely better off getting some items a different store. The chicken thighs were pretty expensive (more than $10 for a pack of 4 or less), and the Lactaid price was outrageously high. A large (2.8L/96oz) of Lactaid was $10.29... You can get the same one for around $5 at Target. There is a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf connected to this location that serves various caffeinated drinks. In addition, there is a wine shop (R. Field Wine Co) that offers a wide variety of fancy wines, crackers, and cheeses. Overall, Foodland is a local favorite. They have a great produce section and some really tasty poke. However, the meats and dairy items are rather expensive compared to some other grocery stores in Kailua, so be cautious about what you're putting in your cart!

Yelp
My experiences here have always been good. Today was the best though. I had a cashier named Lynn. Lynn needs a raise. I've never seen anyone multitask so much in my life. She was very helpful and especially kind. She seems to know a lot of the customers and remembers a lot about them.

Yelp
I love foodland so much. I love the Poke the most of course. The poke at foodland is so amazing, i could write a song about it. I am an outsider living here from Seattle but the people at the poke bsr always make me feel so welcome. I have over 1000 maika'i points from poke alone. I swear sometimes I get extra scoops or discounts from them, but maybe that's my imagination. One lady I think is named Marie? She is the best. The cashiers are always so nice and helpful here. The whole place feels like how grocery stores were in the 90's and that is an amazing thing to experience. I love foodland, I love poke, I love Hawaii.
google avatar

Yelp
I loveeeeee Food Land!!! I look at this as the Hawaii version of Whole Foods. This location is very clean and organized. The staff are very nice and helpful. Out of all sections in the store, my favorite section is the hot meals and POKE SECTION! OH YEAHHH! I have never been to a local grocery store that had good quality hot meals to buy. You definitely need to get some containers of Poke, they have so many combinations. I love getting the Shoyu Tuna Poke with Avocado, ugh i wish I could have some right now. Kailua Beach is right near by, so my family and I always stop by to grab few stuff to make a picnic at the beach :))) Parking is good here.

Yelp
I've tried Foodland before and it's good so came here again. I bought their poke bowl and musubi. They have so many flavors to choose for poke bowls. It's so fresh and yummy. It's definitely worth it. And their musubi was so huge and I've never seen this huge musubi. I enjoyed the taste of every single bite. It's a great place to grab poke bowls and musubi with family and friends.

Yelp
Hats off to the customer service associates at this foodland store. Iona and Lisa. They help me when I went to ask them couple of questions about their roll out on re enrollment of their maikai rewards program. Very helpful and very pleasant. That's how customer service should be. Very happy with their service

Yelp
Foodland is our favorite local grocery chain. On a recent holoholo to Kailua, we needed to grab some items for both our day and to take home. This location is in the shopping center area at the center of town near Big City Diner. There are lots of dining options and other shopping around, which means the older parking lot is sometimes too full. The store itself is kept to the high quality of the other locations - well organized, selection of national and local brands, great produce, and friendly customer service. We love the Mai'kai Card rewards for Hawaiian Miles. The store was somewhat busy, but the checkout lines didn't take long. If you're a visitor or local, this is a great option for groceries at good prices.

Yelp
Grocery Shopping in Kailua... I received an email from Foodland...get a free canvas Maika'i tote bag with purchase of three Maika'i snacks... Hmmm... it drew me in! I also wanted to go to Foodland because I had a Maika'i coupon to use. Normally, I would redeem it for 200 miles on Hawaiian Airlines, but there was a special promotion... buy $100 worth of goods and get 500 miles instead of 200! Wow! I couldn't resist! I had lunch in the Kailua area, so this location of Foodland was most convenient for me. I easily found a free parking space right in front and walked into the spacious, bright, neatly organized, air conditioned environment! In my head, I added up my purchases and just made the $100. I got my free canvas tote bag and 500 Hawaiian Airlines miles! I also used my Redbox $1.25 coupon...what a deal! I rented and saw a movie for about 50 cents! Mission accomplished! P.S. Maika'i means "good" or "excellent". Foodland is truly maika'i! That's why I like to shop at Foodland...they have incentives for shoppers and donate to local schools! Just link up your Maika'i card to your favorite!

Yelp
All the things you hope for in a grocery store that isn't a big-box conglomeration: Clean Well-stocked Good variety Helpful staff Good prices Adequate parking Convenient location We will continue to shop here for our basic grocery needs
google avatar

Latifa S.

Yelp
I mean!!! What's not to love. Foodland is a grownup favorite for me. Not much as a kid but as high school / older days favorite. I mean! What's not to love. Poke! Ted cream pies. Poke! Fresh fruit. Maika'i card savings! And everything is cheaper here. This is my favorite one to frequent to mainly cause I love the area. Easier parking than most. And love the poke!!
google avatar

Yelp
A register girl named adelna, or something similar, was super nice. She was so friendly when checking us out and asked us about ourselves and told us about her. I appreciated her service and smile under her mask Another worker was so kind and asked us, and asks my sister every single time, if there's anything we need. Extra service that we appreciate! I got the best grapes here EVER. they're like candy.
google avatar

Yelp
We've always liked Foodland, but this location is our favorite by far. Well, the Ala Moana location is the nicest, but this is our fav. Both my wife and I have always been HUGE fans of their poke, especially the poke dynamite that only a few locations offer. And apparently we're not the only poke fans judging by the long line you typically find at the poke counter. This review, however, is about their new online ordering feature because COVID times call for COVID related reviews. During this global pandemic era, we have come to really appreciate businesses that offer delivery and curbside pickup. During our last visit, we ordered EVERYTHING on our grocery list online (including the poke). After placing our order, we were given an order number, a pick up time and a number to text upon our arrival. There are 3 parking spaces reserved for pick up customers. SUPER EASY! This was the most convenient service for individuals that don't like waiting on line at checkout lines - or the poke counter! Thank you Foodland.
google avatar

Yelp
Love getting poke and Deli items here but lately there really is no consistency of the foods. The last time I got poke here it was ao tasteless I didn't even finish it. Today the poke was spot on it was so ono! The sad part of today's visit is I got a container of boiled peanuts that is probably a day away from being slimy, it also was very mushy and did not taste good at all. I also ordered the salt and vinegar wings which was just so bland and flavorless, just not very tasty like it used to be.
google avatar

Kris L.

Yelp
They have a great selection of poke and sushi, plus the wine store is well stocked, and they are some selections of local fresh produce and lot of other local products. We found all the specialty gluten free items that we wanted, plus local Dave's purple sweet potato ice cream! I also got a mixed sushi box on this most recent visit which had super fresh tuna and ginger plus hot wasabi, very good. Also picked up nice fresh local lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, apple bananas, and local papaya which were good though the fruit was not as flavorful as I would have expected, thus only 4 stars.
google avatar

Margo C.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh poke for $10! So many different options and they filled my bowl to the brim; I literally couldn't close it all the way down (which I didn't mind at all considering how much fish I got.) I had the secret spicy sauce and the Chile sauce ahi tuna and took this to Lanikai beach to enjoy.
google avatar

Yuri G.

Yelp
Great place to buy Sunscreen, Drinks and Munchies to pack and head out to Kailua Beach. Super clean and friendly staff.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Wow! I am impressed with Foodland. It's like the Publix in Florida but better in the aspect of they have many ready to eat/hot foods available. They have a variety of Pokes. For someone who never had Poke before, Poke is diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or as a main course and is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine. The fish in their Poke was fresh and was diced in a generous sized compared to the other Pokes I had in Florida. The person behind the counter even lets you try all of them. The price of Poke here is way less expensive than the other food establishments in Waikiki; about half the price. If you are in Hawaii and loves Poke, go outside of the tourist area and check out Foodland for great Poke that won't hurt your pocket.

Yelp
Poke 10/10. We were so curious about it while grocery shopping that we gave it a try and it was soooo delicious!
google avatar

Christian R.

Yelp
Ribeye is on sale this week, but I'm not a huge fan of picking nice steaks from the meat counter because they're always too thin. I went up to the meat service counter and asked the butcher if he could cut me two 1.5in ribeyes, with none of the fat trimmed off (because fat is flavor). He was happy to fulfill my request! Really friendly guy. He even asked me if I wanted the meat cut from the "better tasting" or "better looking" side of the roast. I picked the better tasting of course. He finished in no time at all and they even gave me a $3 coupon for the meat! Amazing customer service from the meat department! I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Yelp
Best place for Poke. Foodland... I love you. If it wasn't for the poke station here I dont know what I would do. I miss the poke from here sooooooo much. Generally a great store to shop at for all your grocery needs. But oh mmmmmyyyyy the poke was bomb. Foodland will be my first stop after the airport for all my future visits to Hawaii.

Yelp
Sadly, Foodland has been unable/unwilling to put out a weekly ad for about a year now. My family isn't willing to walk into your store and spend our money if you can't show enough respect to put out a simple ad telling us what you have available. No ad, no shoppy-shop. Luckily we have one local grocer that hasn't forgotten us.
