This is the coolest place to eat in Aberdeen. Now obviously Aberdeen is a culinary wasteland, mediocre restaurants prevail in the grey city of destitute greyness in which this self same pervasive grey seeps into the gastric offerings of the city. Did I use the word grey enough?
Fret not though, for the Foodstory Café is a splash of colour to fend off the dismal and add some brightness to the culinary palate of Scotland's most dismal place you can chose to reside.
Okay less prattling on and a review: this place is a funky cool little cafe serving up a tasty range of food. I've been a few times and managed to get a vegan option no problem on all occasions. Incidentally eating out vegan is not easy in Aberdeen.
There is a large table that is somewhat of a communal affair whereby you just sit at a space and mingle in with the other customers. This can be delightful if you are fond of the occasional bit of spontaneous banter with your fellow person. If you are socially awkward though you may want to retire to a more private introvert friendly table of which there are a choice few too.
It's not a large place, and on one occasion the air con had packed in and it was rather hot, akin to dining out in Namibia, but even the desert like air on that occasion didn't detract from the enjoyment of the quality food.
The atmosphere I've always enjoyed, with a slightly rushed energy to the place on one occasion, and on others a relaxed "I have all day to slowly consume my soup" feel.
I thoroughly recommend this place. If you have taste, you will like it. If not, you will not be missed ;-)
