We stayed for a few days and it was absolutely perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, the space was clean and neat, and we were provided all the comforts we could possibly need. The nostalgic charm was palpable - it reminded me of trips to Colorado with my family growing up. 10/10 recommend!

Google
Really neat older hotel nestled in the foothills at the end of Arapahoe. The rooms are all wood interior with some vintage looking refrigerator and room phone. The room had a gas heater and mini split for AC. If you like staying in a motel that has been around since the 1930s. I will definitely be back the next time I am in town!

The little cute cabin. It has every thing that you need. The location is perfect, you can walk to Red Rock trail. The only issue was the shower that was very small. You can enjoy a simple breakfast and good coffee. In general you enjoy the location and the personnels.

Google
This adorable motel is in the perfect spot! Surrounded by mountains and creek across the way. The Ladies working the desk were super sweet and informative about the area. The rooms were warm and clean as well! Enjoyed everything about our visit, especially seeing a bear run though the park in front of the motel!

We had an amazing experience and will definitely be returning! The lovely people at check in and breakfast were very nice and helpful! We see ourselves coming back when the washer is warmer so we can use the hot tub and walk along the path down by the creek!

My wife and I take pride in staying at anything NOT corporate. This place is so cool! It’s rustic and well maintained. We could honestly relax and enjoy our stay. Such an amazing vibe and the staff is incredible; very friendly and welcoming. The location against the foothills is beautiful, right next to the creek, and the air is so Colorado. It’s a continental breakfast, but it’s enough. It’s like a twenty minute walk to Pearl Street and about forty to The Hill. There really are two kinds of people: hotel and motel. I’m blown away how amazing this little gem is; we will be back!

The room was perfect and comfortable. Staff was so friendly. Nice breakfast out pretty much all day with fruit, coffee, tea, water available. Walked across the street and hiked the red rock trail to the anemone loop. Great views the entire time. Minutes from downtown.

We love this motel! It is quaint and snuggled into the base of the Flat Irons. Very quiet on a unique street, architecturally speaking. Easy walk to Boulder downtown. Staff is lovely and certainly made us feel comfortable and at home. We will always choose to use Foot of the Mountain Motel when visiting Boulder.

Yelp
This was a charming find on our last-minute stay in Boulder! Nestled at "the foot of the mountain" is this delightful motel, founded in 1934. Jess greeted us cheerfully, honored an online discount (found on their website), and set us up with everything we needed. This was so appreciated, especially on short notice. Everything here is kitsch and cute! The cozy rooms have individual heating and cooling, warm blankets, TV (not that you will want to watch it with the breathtaking views of nature available), mimi fridge, a shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser and makeup remover towelettes, hair dryer and plenty of towels. Board games and books were available for use. Bicycles were available to rent for $5 an hour but it was raining so we didn't use them. There was no shortage of blankets or pillows. We burrowed under them and slept deeply. Complimentary breakfast was served until 9am and the offerings were delicious: coffee, juices (orange, apple, cranberry), milk (dairy, soy, almond). Bagels and English Muffins with butter, jelly, peanut butter and cream cheese. Four kinds of cereals (including Cinnamon Toast Crunch, my fave). Oatmeal. Fruit and hard boiled eggs. Postcards, hats, posters and mugs were available for purchase. I bought a postcard to send to my daughter in Nebraska. Jess offered to stamp and mail it for me! I enjoyed my coffee on a bright red outdoor chair while breathing in crisp mountain air and surveying the beauty around me. We have stayed in high end hotels and Air BnB's in Boulder before but this has been our favorite spot! We will absolutely return.

Yelp
First off, what no one will tell you, and what you won't deny when you leave is that this place is HAUNTED as a mf!!!! I don't normally believe in the supernatural, but I have no doubt in my mind that something took place here in this motel or on these grounds. I had such horrible sleep paralysis while I was there, because some poor souls kept me awake insisting I call for help. I legit was trying to reach for the phone all night and morning but couldn't due to the sleep paralysis. As a result, I didn't fully get to sleep the entire night or morning. Finally I got up, disoriented, brushed my teeth, and got the heck out of there. To be fair, the decor and place were quite decent though for the money, and I took a nice hike into the foothills when I left. So I'm keeping it at 4 stars. I'll never forget that haunting though. Son of a !!!

Yelp
Cute, cozy and clean in an unbeatable location. Very cute, and you get a free mug at the end of your stay :)

Yelp
This is an absolutely delightful place to stay in Boulder. It's not fancy, but very serviceable and absolutely adorable. The rooms are comfortable, nothing too special and there's plenty of place to sit and look at the beautiful mountain views. The park across the street from the hotel is wonderful and, the mountain trails are breathtaking. The staff is lovely and helpful. I really enjoyed being able to wake up and go for a hike first thing in the morning.

Robba M.

Yelp
My family has been staying here since the 1980's! We loved location and quaint and funky rooms. However, this past stay we were in the "Hideaway Unit". That unit which has a kitchen, was unfortunately gross. The shower was tiny and you could barely fit into it. There were a bunch of spiders and other crawly critters too. There is a hot tub that had an overpowering smell of chlorine. I'd probably stay again just not in the "Hideaway Unit".

Chantal J.

Yelp
The room was small and the ground did not seem clean. I do not recommend staying here with kids or young infants because the space is not big enough to have a pack n play far enough from the bed. The units are rundown and very old and had a odd smell. However, with that being said the staff was very friendly and there are games you can check-out from guest services. The location is prime next to a river where you can tube down, a park with a playground and a walking/biking path. You are also about a five to ten minute drive from all restaurants, activities which you can't beat. Something to note is there seems to be an odd crowd that comes and goes in the parking lot to the park which is across the street from the motel.

Stacey B.

Yelp
Wonderful place to stay - enjoyed the close hiking, rock climbing, walking trails and hidden nook away from Boulder but just a short ride to enjoy the famous "The Sink" restaurant and other amenities Boulder has to offer. We managed to get the suite that has the hot tub (little known secret) and the breakfasts each morning were a nice offering! How do you not want to stay quaint over the staleness of a hotel! We will be back!

Julie W.

Yelp
We arrived and they were patching parking lot so parked across street-the bathroom floor is rotting out and there were ants. The cabin was small and you could not walk around bed. For breakfast coffee was good and then it was fruit and toast only. On the plus side the creek across street was beautiful.

Macie M.

Yelp
This hotel is a MUST STAY for me! The motel really gives a cozy, cabin, like staying at your grandmas house. The rooms were very clean, has a cool retro red fridge, and mote. The breakfast the motel offers is a great spread! While I sat in the front sitting room eating they played bomb music and had cozy chairs and couches. If your looking for somewhere with a neat ambiance, good breakfast and at a good prices with outstanding service then the Foot of the Mountain a motel will not disappoint!

Alice Q.

Yelp
The only complaint that we had was the Booking.com third party app advertising the price per cheaper, so we decided to just drive up and we found out it was $10-15 more. I tried to price match, and we shared the feedback with the receptionist and she ended up honoring the Booking.com nightly price. We were staying in room 12, and we had a feel of being in the 1970's again. The whole motel is log and cabin themed with vintage and retro phone, toaster microwave, a small bathroom but no full size mirrors. We had one big bed in the center of the motel room and small tv. It was a beautiful day, so we propped the door open and learned about their complimentary breakfast, that we took an opportunity the following day. We had hot oatmeal, coffee and fruit. The Motel is 10/10 experience and I hope everyone I know gets to experience the stay like I did.

Jill G.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights to explore the sights of Boulder and it was a fantastic experience. The staff was very sweet and helpful. The rooms are cozy, clean, and have everything you need. The location is great. It's super close to everything but tucked away so it offers a feeling like getting away. Trails can be accessed within walking distance. The views at the tops of the mountains are fabulous. My family of 4 loved it here and hope to return.

Greg C.

Yelp
Rustic but very pleasant motel. Great value , comfortable rooms , breakfast and friendly staff. It is also dog friendly. Ours enjoyed it very much. We saw license plates from all over the US. Highly recommend.

AJ E.

Yelp
Cozy little mountain motel with great access to pearl street in Boulder. Charming rooms with a rustic vibe.

Beezer B.

Yelp
Staff was friendly, warm, and accommodating. The motel has character and is quite cute and charming.

David S.

Yelp
I lived in Boulder in the 70's, then lived in NYC area 45 years with only a few return visits, before finding this gem: really takes me back! What a great place to stay - funky in only the best ways: not all faffed up, but updated enough to feel comfortable and nothing at all like any sterile chain clone accommodation. Feels like much of what Boulder has lost, or at least buried. The breakfast is nice and simple and the staff clearly care about what they are doing. And I love the immediate neighborhood - great location for catching sunrises from Red Rocks in Settlers' Park.

Brittany S.

Yelp
I didn't forget about the review Ellie! :] The prices are unbeatable and worth the stay!! It's been almost a month since my stay at the foot of the mountain motel. I am so glad to have found this gem on "Hotel Tonight", app. Quaint, cute, and cozy! The staff, wonderful! Ellie was out go-to. Upon arrival, Ellie was so helpful and patient with the transaction considering I had made the purchase through the Hotel Tonight app. The interior of our room was adorable. The view splendid. We only stayed on night, next time we visit, we will revisit this gem and unique landmark. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, everything in working order as it should be. Continental/complementary breakfast, hosted such a nice variety. They have a cozy hang out area of lawn chairs where you could meet others who are staying in the motel as well.

Priscilla R.

Yelp
This little spot was exactly what we wanted. Conveniently located close to downtown Boulder and obviously, the Rocky Mountains, we couldn't have asked for a better location. When you walk across the street that the hotel sits on, you're at a trailhead that will literally take you up to the top of a mountain. Parking and breakfast are both included, and the complimentary coffee available all day was so much better than we expected from a lobby coffee station. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We would 100% stay again!

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Staying was a great experience from check in to check out! Very much what I was looking for in regards to stay in Boulder. Very recommended for price and location!

Rhonda C.

Yelp
This place is great! I love the feel and everyone is so nice. It is right across the street from Boulder Creek and you can easily walk to Pearl Street Mall and CU. I'll be back

Jeff H.

Yelp
The Foot of the Mountain Motel is a true gem. With retro cabin vibes, this cozy spot is tucked back by the mountain and Boulder Creek. It is a true getaway retreat. I spent the week here grounding down and recuperating before picking up my new puppy. The WiFi is excellent for working from your computer and Zoom. The surrounding area offers parks and an organic food market. The neighborhood is safe and chill. The staff is friendly and informative. The breakfast and coffee really hit the spot. Foot of the Mountain motel will always hold a really special place in my heart. It wouldn't be a stay in Boulder without this place. Thank you for existing! I will drink out of the mug I got from you with fond memories.

Pauline L.

Yelp
This charming motel is situated perfectly between Pearl street, CU, and Flat Irons. Check in was friendly and fast with jeromy and our room was clean and spacious with extras for bedding. A couch and retro fridge are perfect for late night lounging. But the real treat is the aironderock chairs around the bathtub of flowers in the front yard firepit included!! I slept with my windows open in august and woke to fresh mountain air and extensive breakfast options in the office 7-10am... ..what more do you need!!!!

Yelp
A very cute, unique place that is perfect for the right type of traveler . We booked a 4 night stay but only ended up spending one night. Went through booking.com and got a good deal on a queen room. When we arrived we discovered that the room was very, very small. The rooms are very cabin-like in their construction. The mattress was noisy, but not terribly uncomfortable. The bathroom had seen better days, with some staining and cracks in the tub. Many of the outlets in our room had been used so much that things didn't remain plugged in. The single window overlooked our neighbors car, and you could hear your neighbors more than expected. Everything else was good, AC, TV, WiFi and parking. Again, very cute and rustic with a wonderful location, but wasn't the type of place for us.

Cali F.

Yelp
Super sweet staff very welcoming. Area is great right next to park and river. Only 10 minutes from downtown and close to lots of great trails. Very dog friendly! And love the breakfast.

Shannon G.

Yelp
Location is great and service is solid. Breakfast is simple but good. For the price I would expect a little more cleanliness (lots of spiderwebs, peeling caulk and window covering, and prominent smudges on the ceiling). everything is a la carte which was off putting to me. a pet fee per night AND a pet cleaning fee? i has booked and was charged for a Queen room, but received a double. I tried to bring this to the attention of the attendant but he insisted it was a Queen. it most certainly was not. Overall a decent experience, but nothing exceptional.

Maria O.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to stay that was close to the ungroomed nature of Boulder, places to hike, a quick drive to the city, and a rustic unpolished cabin experience to match our surroundings. This place exceeded our expectations. You are literally at the foot of the mountain - there's a yard of sorts behind the cabins that if you followed you'd eventually be led to raw wilderness. If you like to walk, Pearl street mall is about 20 minute walk through gorgeous looking neighborhoods. You couldn't hear any cars or other street noise when we stayed which made it so peaceful. We will definitely stay again.

Jessy L.

Yelp
Walking distance from Pearl Street, this little gem of a roadside motel is quaint and rustic. The free coffee and breakfast are excellent - with local specialties like celestial seasonings and justin's peanut butter. The rooms are simple but very cute -- a quintessential historic motel. It's right off a walking path that leads you into the Pearl street shopping district with shops, bars, breweries and restaurants -- less than a mile on foot. The people who work here are incredibly kind and accommodating. They helped us adjust our reservation the day before our arrival due to a death in the family, no questions asked and no weird charges. Bonus - when we checked in, we were able to upgrade to one of their two suits for just $15 extra and had a mountainside hot tub all to ourselves for the night. 10/10 we'd stay here again and already discussed making it a new yearly tradition!

Bobby H.

Yelp
Stayed here for a night on our way from Denver to Rocky Mountain National Park. Great location, very cool rooms! A rustic-retro vibe. The complimentary breakfast was nice, we brought our tray outside and enjoyed it in the Adirondack chairs outside. Staff were super nice and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Mike B.

Yelp
Killer little cozy place with everything you need to set you up for a day of exploring! The location is perfect being walking distance from pearl street and trails. The complimentary breakfast was just what I needed for a day of hiking - fresh and healthy. Will definitely be returning!!!

Skip R.

Yelp
Great location, clean rooms, and friendly staff. Perfect place to stay if you are visiting Boulder.

Emma H.

Yelp
Lovey little spot in Boulder! Super friendly staff and comfy cabins. Would definitely stay here again!

Hayden H.

Yelp
This motel is so cozy!!! It's only a 5 minute drive from downtown but nestled in this tiny road next to a park and the mountains. The vibe is excellent and the staff is friendly. Very glad I chose to stay here!

Read H.

Yelp
What classic motel! It is at the foot of Canyon Boulevard leading out of town up into the mountains above Boulder and toward Nederland. And it is above and just across the street from a riverside walking path through a park an easy walk into a nice. Section of town if you want to walk to dinner. Over eighty year old wood sided and wood paneled and then mid century designer touches in the desk chair, refrigerator and shower curtain. Glad I found it.

Bruce S.

Yelp
Amazing quaint motel at... you guessed it foot of the mountain. Rooms are extremely cozy. Staff is extremely accommodating w/ great recommendations. Settlers Park & Flatirons trail are extremely close. Will be returning on my next trip to Boulder.

Heather G.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night and it was overall amazing, really spacious rooms and living room area, full kitchen and of course the best part the private hot tub! Really enjoyed our stay here and wish we could have stayed a few more days !

Ruth B.

Yelp
Very cute, feels like camp! The Individual cabins are adorable and Covid safe. Especially nice that it's right at the mouth of boulder canyon.

Summer T.

Yelp
Cute little log cabin! It's the oldest running motel in boulder so as you can expect it is old but very cute and charming. They have done some renovations to keep it nice. A great little place if you feel like staying somewhere a little different then the average hotels in town. The heaters worked very well, we were warm all night in the middle of winter. If you're looking for a budget friendly family own unique place to stay this is it!

Catherine M.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal! It is cozy, clean and comfortable. The staff is courteous and informative. Wonderful things to do nearby great for all ages. We found this place last minute, so lucky!! Thank you Jeremy we will definitely make this a family place

Tania Z.

Yelp
For COVID context: Check in and out was easy. The room was clean and loved that they were all separate units so no shared hallways. For breakfast, only one person allowed in at a time. They had hand sanitizer and gloves. Masks required the whole time. In General: this is an amazing location and I love that the history of the place was preserved. It is an Americana dream realized for me to stay at the foot of the Rockies like this. Settler Park is literally across the street, down to the park, through the tunnel under the road and take the trail up to it. So convenient. The rooms are tidy. Showers have good pressure and enough hot water for our family of 3 to shower back to back. The staff was sweet and informative. We will stay here if we ever get to go back to Boulder again.

Trisha F.

Yelp
Love this Motel! It really is right @ The Foot of the Mountain! Cross the street & your right in the street from Eben G. Fine Park on Boulder Creek. Playground, Picnicking, BBQing, walk, swim & tube in the river. Motel is Homey, Friendly, Clean & location couldn't be more perfect. All guests seem to be truly happy & comfortable. Chairs on small patio area by each room, grassy park with chairs in center of parking area. About 15 Rooms so it's not crowded, noisy & busy. Coffee, & Breakfast Snacks & cereal in Office. Not leaving yet, but already can't wait to come back.....

Sagruilla P.

Yelp
This motel has a lot going for it--classic charm, across the street from a playground along Boulder Creek, away from hustle and bustle but walking distance. The sheets and bedding are soft and crisp and clean. Location and exterior are 5 stars! We did have a hard time sleeping here and getting around the room, however. For the price, I would have liked a quieter night of sleep and a more comfortable place to hang out in the morning and evening. There wasn't enough room for the kids to play on the floor, and the carpet didn't seem clean enough for that anyway. The chairs outside are in the parking lot, so that wasn't ideal either.

Dylan P.

Yelp
Wow this place is MAGICAL!! best place to sleep in boulder! Right on the creek, gluten free and vegan options in the free breakfast 10/10 recommend and all of the staff were beyond incredible!!!

Kristen S.

Yelp
This little place is a gem. If you want to surround yourself with a little history and cozy mountain vibes this is the spot. The property is situated on the west side of downtown, perfect 15-20 min walk into downtown Boulder, just enough to work up an appetite. Large shared space in the back with picnic tables, fire pit, and enough space to accommodate a dog. There are colorful benches out front with a second fire pit. Each room has a parking spot right out front. Room was warm and the staff here is lovely.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Please take this as a warning. Very bad place to stay. Worst experience I have ever ever ever gone though. We booked to stay 3 nights and only stayed 1. Just a forewarning, this place does double up as a homeless shelter. Our first night we had strange skin reactions after we slept in the bed and our dog's ear was completely inflamed and red. We thought maybe it was just something small until we saw a homeless man push his entire cart of belongings with his dog into a room next to us. When we asked the staff what was happening we were told that it's Christmas Eve and everyone deserves a place to stay. Which I do agree with, however after the skin reactions and our dog's ear completely inflamed, it showed us that the place is not cleaned properly. We were moved into a different room only to find some sort of fecal matter along the mattress. See the pictures. The manager told us he fumigates every room 3 times a month... in between these fumigations there are people staying here with bed bugs and dogs with possible fleas. This place is charming by the pictures and gives you a rustic feel that you are looking for. Just please please be forewarned that if you are bringing your family and kids here, a homeless person could have been in the bed before you or possibly in the room next to you. We were refunded our money, cause how could you not refund a room with fecal matter. Hotel staff did call us several different names for not feeling comfortable staying in a room where homeless stay.

Jamie B.

Yelp
We had a lovely stay here in February 2018. The location is just outside of the downtown area so you feel remote without being far at all. It's also very sweet-looking and retro which was fun. Check-in was simple and since we booked through hotels.com the bill was $0. We received our keys to room #10 which was spacious (more spacious than other rooms I believe) and located towards the far corner from the lobby. The room was warmed up for us when we arrived and cleaned well. We stayed for a total of 3 nights and had absolutely no issues. A few notes: - Didn't realize there was complimentary breakfast so that was a nice surprise, just note that the lobby is SMALL so it's more like a grab and go situation, but convenient if you need a quick bite. - The fridge comes unplugged so make sure to plug it in if you use it. - The tub is older and a bit slippery so be careful. - The parking situation can be tight when it snows since there's a central seating area to navigate around but other than that no issues finding a spot. - All staff was very friendly and welcoming. I noticed a few negative reviews so maybe we got lucky or maybe they've improved, but I have no significant complaints about our stay - it was almost perfect!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This hotel is very cute. Rustic cabins close to the river and backs up to open space with lots of hiking and bike trials. The rooms are small are ours smelling like a smoker had previously used it (hotel is non-smoking). It hasn't had a recent makeover in a while. Pipes are visible running through the rooms and didn't notice any sprinklers. Stains noted to the bed skirt and the windows are hard to open. No a/c, but did have a circulating fan in room. The reason I give it 3 stars because it's a good location. We just parked our car and walked everywhere. This place isn't for everyone. There are much nicer hotels closer to town, but I tend to like the rustic feel.

Modemme X.

Yelp
Charming (except for the huge tv in room). Friendly staff. Standard continental bfast and weak coffee (ya been warned). Location close to town (10 minute walk or so) yet feels secret and tucked away. At sundown several of us guests were sitting outside our rooms sipping beers and relaxing (nice vibes). There was a fire pit which would have been fun to light up but it was too windy during our fall visit (fire hazard). Shower drain backed up and shower paneling coming off. Windows from a bygone era - didn't feel securely locked in. I can imagine some people (solo women) may be creeped out by that. I'll stay again. The price and location are perfect

Julie T.

Yelp
Great little spot, cozy and warm, breakfast good enough because of covid restrictions, friendly staff, great location in Boulder next to a creek and trails.

Alex B.

Yelp
This is the cutest little place in the best spot in Boulder; walking distance from Pearl street and across the street from Eben Fine park and the Boulder Creek. Buy a quality inner tube from them and walk to the park to go down the rapids....so much fun! Trail heads are 1/8 of mile away too. Red Rock trail is great. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, good breakfast, WiFi, parking and very friendly staff! I love this place and will be back often. Waking up surrounded by mountains and nature is wonderful. Eat breakfast behind your room in the grassy area and park benches.

Monica L.

Yelp
Check in was online, super easy. Picked up room key in the office with very friendly staff member. Social distancing and masks are required, very cool. THE ROOM: Very Clean. The bed was SOOOO comfortable and the decor was retro and fun! The heater kept the room warm & cozy. For those wondering, they do have ac's in the rooms. Anything you need, the staff can help you with. (Extra towels, trash pickup, etc) It's quiet, quaint and close to anything you need. I am so happy I chose this very cool place.
