The Best Places to Eat Lobster in Ogunquit, Maine - AFAR

"A walk-up shack across from the Perkins Cove drawbridge known for an exceptionally good lobster roll and fried whole-belly clams or lobster tail; there is no seating, so patrons dine leaning against the dock railing or on a nearby bench along the Marginal Way while watching dinghies and sailboats bob in the harbor." - Suzanne Rowan Kelleher

Google
They offer their lobster rolls with butter or mayo but if you want it warmed up you have to specifically request it. They do not have any of their own seating so you’ll have to walk around and find a bench. Their lobster roll was really good, i got it with butter!

Katie Crenshaw

Google
When in Maine… you roll with the best! Foot Bridge Lobster serves up fresh-off-the-boat lobster, and this roll? LOADED. Perfectly cooked, buttery, and absolutely brimming with that sweet local flavor. No frills, just the real deal.

Dmitry Gorelik

Google
I can’t say that i’ve had many lobster rolls in my life, but this one is the best. Fresh lobster served with perfectly grilled hotdog roll. We had it with butter and mayo and it’s hard to think of a better combination.

Beth Ann

Google
After a long drive we were looking forward to fresh Maine seafood. So even the downpour of rain couldn’t stop us from getting dinner at one of our favorite spots. We grabbed lobster rolls, scallops and fish. Worth every penny!!

Ashley Lutrick

Google
The freshest lobster you can get! Delicious and well cooked. There’s not really any tables to dine at but plenty of seating where you can sit and enjoy your meal.

Sarah Will

Google
We ordered a lobster roll, fish chowder and 2.2lb fresh lobster. They pull the lobster fresh from the tank and weigh right in front of you to ensure you are happy prior to cooking. Everything was absolutely delicious! A cute little spot right in the heart of Perkins Cove! Highly recommend.

Kay

Google
As a New Englander and frequent lobster roll connoisseur, this is one of the best I’ve ever had. We had the warm lobster roll with butter and mayo as recommended by the staff. It was a small hotdog bun but had lots of fresh juicy lobster meat, and came with a bag of chips. This would absolutely be a 10/10 but $40 per roll feels like highway robbery. Also note that there’s nowhere to sit, it’s an order at the window style but that’s okay, there’s benches and rocks around to perch on. The staff was very friendly and helpful, would recommend this place to anyone that has the extra cash to pay.

Google
After walking marginal way we stopped here for a lobster roll and grilled cheese! Really nice staff and great portion 5oz! Order at the window then find seating there’s plenty of benches over looking the boats. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
We are going to go broke buying lobster rolls if we don't get out of Maine very soon! This is the best we've had so far - literally overflowing with giant chunks of moist, tender lobster meat lightly mixed with mayo and melted butter on a soft, buttery toasted roll. So dang good! You definitely need a fork to eat because they are so loaded with huge chunks of lobster meat that it will fall off! Unfortunately, my dog Chico managed to snag a big chunk of claw meat when I was grabbing my soda! He did enjoy it thoroughly and he's such a good dog, he deserved it. The service was friendly and efficient, we had a short wait and there were several people in line. The lobster rolls were $31.95 for a 5oz roll and chips, which seems to be the going price. The least expensive rolls we had were $24.95, but they were only 4 oz and the meat was more chopped. It was still delicious, but this one knocked it out of the park. The cute little shop is located on Harbor Lane by the Perkins Cove drawbridge. Walk-up orders only, but there are plenty of benches to sit on.

Yelp
You can't travel to Maine without having a lobster roll and Perkins Cove is a charming location to visit. This is a walk-up stand was a decent lobster roll containing a good amount of lobster. It would have received 5 stars, but some of the lobster was tough. There was a special that came with a drink and a homemade ice cream sandwich that you pick up a few doors down. The ice cream sandwich was really good. There is another restaurant steps away that is their direct competitor. The owner of Footbridge works the sidewalk trying to convince patrons to order from him rather than next door.

Yelp
Simple lobster shack in Perkins Cove serving one of the best lobster rolls we've had! Someone told us to try their cold mayo and butter combo and it was definitely a game changer! They put the roll together quickly and seem to have a good system. This one is definitely a stand out for us!
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
Amazing lobster rolls. You won't be disappointed. Perfectly toasted fresh bread, liquid gold butter, perfectly poached and sweet lobster, juicy lemon. Life changing.

Yelp
This is the second time we have been here The best place for lobster rolls and all the food is great we live in Berwick main wife and I and family will always come here this past Saturday we were here I had a fish sandwich the best
google avatar

Yelp
5oz of lobster? Sign me up. Fantastic lobster roll- had mine with a bit of mayo- no fillers- but they also serve it with butter. You can have it warm or cold. Side of kettle cooked chips. Perkins Cove is a great place to hang out, wander through shops or walk the Marginal Way. Service with a smile- local lobsters. Don't miss it if you're in the area.

Yelp
I really went to this place to try a lobster roll but I just could not make myself pay the $+30 for that - I simply dont like lobster THAT much. Instead I tried a Grilled cheese with bacon and my partner had a BLT. Since this is a lobster shack I was not expecting much but was simply too hungry to try and find anything else. Admittedly, I have not have that many Grilled Cheese sandwiches in my life, but this was the best so far! The bread was good and really nice and golden and crunchy and the bacon was nice and thick. My partner had about the same feeling for the BLT. Much better than expected and highly recommended.

Yelp
Great, casual, sit outside where you find a seat place. Lobster Rolls were plentiful and tasted great. I like with butter but you can get with mayo or combo if you want. Small line but went fast. Couple of Portland beer options as well. Cute little seaside location in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit. Worth the trip.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
The best lobster roll in town! They were so generous with the amount of lobster too. Worth every penny.
google avatar

Cheryl A.

Yelp
This was a tourist stop that went well for us. It was a 45 minute wait to get our order but there were enough shops to walk around to explore. The food was delicious The cons I've noticed was the manager was really upset that day, and was disrespectful to the the cashiers. Additionally, there was a family with small kids waiting around for their order that never materialized. If you're willing to overlook this and wait, it's a good quick and easy lobster.
google avatar

Bayard C.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall, and by that I mean a walk-up counter; There was no line when we visited today. Quick service and great atmosphere on this little peninsula with the small draw bridge opening for departing/returning sailboats. The food was very good - we had their classic Lobster Roll (5oz, butter prep) and the kids demolished the grilled cheese (it's about the bread!). Definitely worth the stop if you have no need for sit-down service. Knock out one of the local hikes afterwards!
google avatar

Adalberto M.

Yelp
Staying in Maine we were told to pass by this small city on our way to Boston and get the lobster roll. We had no idea where we were going and all of the sudden encountered this quaint small town with beautiful houses and a very scenic area. The restaurants are very small - with some not having their own designated seating area like this one in particular. Think of it as stationary food trucks with a general seating area. The lobster roll. As one said here, you're welcome. Much more flavor and meat than places in Portland. Definitely worth the value and taste. But the views make it all perfect.
google avatar

Gabby C.

Yelp
Look no further... this is THE Lobster Roll! Truly the best one I have ever had. Fast and friendly service and a perfect 5oz portion of lobster. We got one hot with melted butter and one cold with mayo- So good!! Must stop if you are in Perkins Pier area or walking the Marginal Way.
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
Best lobster roll I've ever had in my life, hands down. I'm a big fatazz so I know my food. Get it with mayo AND butter, you will not regret it. Price is $27ish per roll, so it's not cheap but we splurged while on vacation & absolutely would do it again! Yum! Friendly service & a great location on the water. Plus, the cookie ice cream sandwich for dessert was HUGE as well and another home run!
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
By far the best lobster roll in Perkins Cove. We got the roll with butter. Quick service. More seating would be great, but standing along the fence along the pier was fine and a great view of the footbridge and the harbor.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Favorite place to eat when I come to Maine! Lobster so good I talk about it all year. Must go when in ogunquit. Staff is always super nice. Ate at the footbridge the 3 nights I was in ogunquit!

Sky J.

Yelp
The best lobster roll I've ever had in my life! Plus the gluten free bun is amazing! They also have gluten free ice cream sandwiches and omg. I am always craving them now!
google avatar

Yelp
I was so hyped from all the 5-star reviews,, I was really looking forward to trying this joint. The verdict is a 3, very pricey, small portion, I got a lobster roll and a belly clam plate for $68. If you're in York Beach, the other better option is Bob's Clam Hut. Food quality is superb, bigger portion and a reasonable priced menu.
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
I'm not being dramatic- this is the best lobster roll I've had in my LIFE thus far. It was so good I went again before leaving. Lobster roll heated with butter. You're welcome. This place is takeout only, limited seats around the area. There can be a line but it moves fast and the food comes out super quick!! If you don't get the lobster roll, the fried clam belly plate was amazing. Also can't go wrong with their BOGO steamed lobsters for $15!!!! (Took ~20 min to steam). I will definitely be making the drive from Boston for this place!

Yelp
The Footbridge Lobster is a small seafood takeout restaurant located in the center of Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. The cute little red restaurant with a green awning is sandwiched between the Perkins Cove Pottery Shop and the Lobster Shack Restaurant. It is easy to miss if you don't look up for the store sign. It sits across a small wooden draw bridge and waterway. It's an operating bridge so there is plenty of foot traffic and small boats passing during our brief stay. The most recommended item on the menu is their lobster roll. One of the best, if not best, I have had. You have the option of butter or mayo, or butter and mayo. I say go for the butter and mayo. There was plenty of sweet lobster meat per roll. The lobster rolls were $32 each when we went. The The fried clam belly was another great item. Two Lobster rolls, one fried clam bellies, and two lemonades came to just under $100. They also sell nice cold beer to go with your meal. You can enjoy your meal on a bench across from the restaurant. Parking is limited. My husband was able to find parking for $12 just a block from the restaurant. Most parking signage leading up to the restaurant started at $20 and went up to as high as $25. Once parked, I would definitely recommend exploring the area. Perkins Cove has many tiny shops to explore. I would walk up the iconic white draw bridge for a scenic water view and cross over to the other side of the bridge to take a panoramic picture of the area. See my pictures!

Yelp
Went there today for the lobster roll. It was so good we went back an hour later and got another one! Super cool vibe and very fast service. Highly recommend
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Tried the lobster roll today as I had read positive reviews about it. Loaded with meat - claws and tail. Delicious.
google avatar

Rozet S.

Yelp
Amazing lobster roll! The wait wasn't too long on a Sunday night for dinner. We got our food in about 5 minutes and the service was great! The lobster was delicious with the hot butter, the bread was slightly toasted which was perfect, and the fries were a perfect addition. 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great special so we went down Not realizing no indoor seating and parking is $$ The food was good But! I'd rather have free parking and not to eat outside

Jessica C.

Yelp
The lobster rolls we had were amazing! Quick service and big chunks of lobster for the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Not much more needs to be said, best lobster of the entire trip. Great service, great food, and a great place to just walk around eating your delicious food on the go. I don't think you could be any closer to the water or happier with their food. A+
google avatar

Brianna M.

Yelp
It's not summer until I've been to Footbridge Lobster! I always get the lobster roll, which comes with chips. It's a hefty potion of lobster! The roll is always perfectly toasted. It's a walk up counter so finding a spot to sit can be challenging on busy days, but there are plenty of benches around. I usually walk to the start of the Marginal Way to enjoy an ocean view with my lobster roll.
google avatar

Graham T.

Yelp
Had the fried Haddock n Fries last night They were perfect Great sauce with it and the fries are ALWAYS HOT N CRISPY
google avatar

Serena L.

Yelp
Our family followed Yelp and ate lobster rolls at several places during our New England trip. Footbridge is by far the best, and I really meant it. Look at the picture of my lobster roll, which was full of fresh and juicy lobster meat. Steamed lobster is buy one get one free. The size of the fisherman's plate is huge. This place is take out only, but there is plenty of benches/chairs and few picnic tables nearby. Price is very reasonable based on the quality of food. Don't forget to walk the Marginal Way, which is very scenic by the cliff. Parking tips: Drive toward the end of the peninsula. We found a free parking spot near the public restroom area around 5:30pm.
google avatar

Jenny G.

Yelp
I do not have a single negative comment about this place. We visited during off season so there was little to no wait. The lobster roll has so many big big chunks of lobster. The bun was toasted to perfection. This is probably out best in Maine we have tried. Looking foward to staying in this town in the future so we can have this again.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
We were a group of eight and decided to answer that age old question of what is the best lobster roll? The one made with a mayo base or the one made with the butter base. We ordered a whole bunch of them and we wound up in a tie, and the only thing that was agreed-upon was that these lobster rolls were out of this world delicious! Can't wait to go back and hit it again, but boy was that a treat. #stevensleavin
google avatar

Christie L.

Yelp
Quick and easy grab and go for loaded lobster rolls! My friend and I were planning to get food at another place, but the line was out the door so we stumbled upon Footbridge Lobster Shack. You order at the window and can find a seat at a picnic table right by the footbridge. When in Maine you have to get the lobster right?! I got a lobster roll with butter and mayo and it was so delicious and loaded! The pieces of lobster were big and the buttery mayo combo was magical! I never had that combo but it was so good! The lightly toasted bun was perfect too. Great place if you want quality food but don't want the wait!

Yelp
One thing is for sure: Ogunquit is never short on Lobster. No sit-down. No high stools. The answer is Footbridge Lobster- which is really at the foot of Perkins Cove Draw Bridge. It's a no-brainer to get here especially if you're staying at the Auberge Hotel right over the bridge. Footbridge L. is actually nothing but a red walk-up shack by the water. It is all well and good when I picked up a buttered Lobster Roll and Fried Haddock-Fries order before making the trek home. Service is pleasant and food is nice. My $24.95 (buttered) Lobster Roll came with melted butter on the side which I just drizzled and took the roll several octaves higher. The Lobster Roll is fresh and replete with meat. Fried Haddock at $21.95, was substantial and had the most subtle dredge- it was almost perfection. All it needed was a hair of salt- but a squeeze of lemon (that's provided) on the fish, rounded out the taste. FYI- there are non-seafood items such as hot dogs, a burger, a BEC, grilled cheese, etc for folks who don't like/allergic to seafood.
google avatar

Dian K.

Yelp
A small shack guaranteeing 5pz of lobster in each dish and it's definitely the most of the lobster rolls we had. They dressed it however you wished (buttered, Mayo or both). My friend got the lobster grilled cheese and wasn't too fond of it - the cheese didn't add anything to it and would've been better just to get the lobster roll. They don't have any seating area, but if you're lucky, there are 2 picnic tables near the water about 100 ft away from the foot bridge or some benches right under the foot bridge across the street. Parking is a crap shoot. After 10am/noon, there are free parking along the harbor (reserved for lobsterman in the AM) - just keep driving to the very end to try your luck. Otherwise, you can park at the paid parking lot $4/hr.
google avatar

Anissa A.

Yelp
Of all the Lobster Rolls I had during my trip to Maine, this one takes home first place! It was so fresh and juicy. Wish I could have another.
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Well the lobsta doesn't get any fresher at this family owned shack - seriously! Don't waste your time with anything else on the menu. See photo of lobster rolls as proof. My only beef is they serve single use plastic utensils. Makes no sense being so close to the water. Well there's always room to improve on something. Enjoy!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
Small lobster shack in Ogonquit Beach that does a solid job producing a good lobster roll. There is no frills, but before that excursion it works well for what it is worth. The whole area is pricey so be ready to fork up some dough.
google avatar

Larry C.

Yelp
How fresh is the lobster? Well while we were waiting for our order, the fella manning the store came out, went across to the dock, and got a couple of live lobster from where they were chillin' in a cooler in the water :) The lobster roll was really good, and packed! IDK how much lobster a typical roll comes with, but this one was overflowing! Yum!
google avatar

Nissen W.

Yelp
I'm usually not a lobster fan but when in Maine... It was pretty good, the bun was toasted nicely and the lobster tasted fresh! Personally I just can't justify paying 37$ for a sandwich again. If you love lobster rolls then this place is a good option!
google avatar

Rob K.

Yelp
Ok still the best lobster roll in the area now surpassing Bobs. Tons of fresh meat. This time we added twin steamed lobsters. Super fresh tasting. Food is 5 stars. Where you chow down is a different story, a few picnic tables to your right but no umbrellas - super hot in the direct sun. So no ambiance. Not their fault, Perkins cove needs to add seating for their customers.

Andrea Z.

Yelp
Great lobster rolls! A lot of lobster meat and a big buttered roll. It was our first stop in Maine!

Nicole L.

Yelp
One of the best lobster rolls I've had! Super light and the lobster was cooked just right. Loved the butter/mayo combo which was just the right amount and not overly dressed. Also got the clam chowder too which was a superb classic. Parking is a little difficult but the service was quick!
google avatar

Melanie U.

Yelp
The buy one get one lobster slaps! Great deal the price fluctuates but I paid 22 for 2. Great to split among friends, but know that they do not have dedicated seating but there are some picnic tables by the bridge. Lobster roll was ok but I preferred the steamed lobsters they were cooked perfectly not chewy at all.
google avatar

Dan L.

Yelp
This adorable roadside food shack that sits adjacent to the Perkins Cove bridge was drawing in all the attention with their 2 for 1 lobster special today! Sitting at no more than probably 400 sqft, this seafood shack was bumpin, slinging out drinks and food on this hot summer day. Lobster is a must when in Maine and the steamed lobsters from Footbridge came just in time after walking along the Marginal Way. The twin lobster special came with two freshly steamed lobsters and corn. Sitting along side some of the most gorgeous views in Maine this was truly a treat. The couple we were with got the fried haddock sandwich and scallops which also looked delicious!
google avatar

Sonali G.

Yelp
My friends and I got the lobster mayo roll, it was delicious! Service was quick and friendly and it was so fun to eat by the water and boats :)
google avatar

Lizeth G.

Yelp
In a world where lobster rolls are lately running anywhere from 30-40 bucks - Footbridge lobster offers an amazing, can't turn it down deal. We came from a walk off the Marginal Way and noticed they offered buy one, get one lobsters. I may not get the bun but it was all about the fun of cracking one of these little guys open. We waited a bit for our food and parked ourselves at a nearby table. The meal came with a whole corn and a generous portion of melted butter. The lobster came our warm and super tender, I enjoyed the process of eating it and the hunt for all the meat. Messy, but fun! If you're looking to get your lobster fix I would 100% recommend a visit to Perkins Cove and look for the deal on the door at Footbridge Lobster.
google avatar

Kendra W.

Yelp
We were recommended this little establishment by 2 different locals and boy oh boy! It did not disappoint at all! We had to go back a 2nd time to enjoy the freshest lobster literally pulled from the boat to go into our bellies. The owner works so hard for his clients and you can totally feel that he cares immensely about his product that he serves. If you want to support local...this is THE place to grab your lobster roll and steamed lobster to eat along the pier or take back home. Thank you for the yummy dinners!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Best Lobster Roll vs many others in the area. Great location & friendly staff. Looking forward to trying another menu item next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Abby W.

Yelp
As much as I wanted to try a lobster roll, I couldn't justify spending $25 to find out if I like lobster. Instead, I played it safe with fish and chips. At $22, it was definitely a more expensive fish and chips than I'm used but it was fresh and tasty. The fish and the fries were both perfectly crispy. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was that the tartar sauce was prepackaged and not homemade. Still good but I guess I just expected a bit more for the price. The restaurant is more of a shack with an order window in the front. There are a few tables scattered around the shopping area but definitely not a lot of seating. At least the setting is absolutely beautiful though.
