Where to Find the Best Cider Doughnuts in New England

"Marc Sheehan, co-owner and executive chef of Northern Spy (fruit fans will recognize the restaurant’s name as a beloved apple variety) in Canton, grabs 'incredibly moist, light' cider doughnuts from Foppema's Farm in Northbridge before driving the length of the Blackstone Heritage Corridor along the river and through quaint towns bursting with color." - Adam H. Yelp
Foppema's Farm is our go to place for fresh produce throughout the summer and fall. They offers a wide variety their own in-season fruit and vegetables. Their sweet corn is picked same day, field fresh and delicious. They also source other local produce to supplement their own, and it's typically much better than can be found at a grocery store. When the fall arrives, they offer a huge variety of apples from their own orchards, apple sauce, apple pies, apple donuts and more. In late summer, their Bok choy is harvested, and they are fresh and huge. Pumpkins and mums arrive in the fall, they have a big selection of both. Foppema's prices are competitive when compared to any locally sourced farm. We shop here two to three times a week during the season, and always look forward to their opening in June.

Yelp
I love this place! The food is fresh and delicious and there is usually a pretty long line there, but it goes fast! Totally worth waiting to get your items! The farm has a wonderful rustic look and is decorated with farm decor, handmade gifts, kitchen items and farm tools. Wonderful little place! We look forward to going every year!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite farm stands. Very good selection of fruits and vegetables. They also sell some outdoor hanging plants, cut flowers, meat, pies, milk, honey, baked goods and gifts. There is a pretty big selection of John Deere toys. Foppemas usually opens for the season on June 1 with a fair selection of produce (and their own hothouse tomatoes YUM!) and as the weeks of summer progress and their fields are ready they get more and more selections. They also grow a lot of heirloom varieties of veggies and fruits. They keep supplying right through the fall with apple and squash season and usually close for the season around Thanksgiving. They are never open Sundays!

Yelp
When I lived in the area Id shop here 2-3 times a month. Today I popped in for my 1st visit of the season prior to visiting a family member. I've always loved this place... Plenty of variety of the freshest produce & cut flowers you will find along with baked goods, local fudge, and awesome Bliss Ice Cream.... Oops, I forgot to add gifty items like country style housewares, candles, lotions, jam, relishes, salad dressing & much more. Today I believe I stopped in just before noon and it was bustling with customers. It appears that they are following all state mandates - if you enter the store you must wear a mask or face covering. The staff were all wearing gloves , masks and sanitizing the shopping carts. There is a limit as to how many they allow in, etc. All good. As soon as I got inside my eyes lit up when I spied fresh currants - a rarity where I live...at least I haven't seen any. Into the cart you go! Next several varieties of leafy lettuce... I have always loved their lettuce & picked up to packages. Tomatoes... Galore. I'm partial to the heirloom and as usual the store does not disappoint. Maybe 3 types of cucumbers.. I chose the baby pickling type for an Asian sesame salad on my list to make this week. Green onions also looked wonderful - into the cart. There were 3-4 kinds of native melons . I chose the dark green sugar baby. I usually enjoy this type.. ok, rounding the corner... Corn, corn, & more corn. I can make a meal out of an ear or two... In you go! Always excellent. Okay.... Whoa... No eggplant today? Seriously? Darn! Was it sold out? Major disappointment. I didn't even see a bin.. let me explain .... In all the years I've shopped her, their eggplant I've found is the BEST. Low, if any seeds..not too large, etc. Seriously, I wait for this.... Oh no!!!!! Ok, get a grip... Next : Beets in 3 varieties. I chose the basic red. They are always delicious.... Never woody and cook up perfectly. I noticed several types of squash... But I wasn't in the market for it today. Actually, I was hoping for a package of homemade cookies... But alas, all sold out .... There were pies and some turnovers... Oh well. Next time hopefully. Checking out - all marked 6' away with 3 registers open. There was a line. But it moved quickly. I chose a Saturday to shop here...it was very busy. Actually too busy for me. I prefer a quiet day during the week. This is a great place to shop for the freshest produce & flowers either way. I hope to be able to return before they close in the fall.

Yelp
my husband and i came here today after needing to get out of the house, and wanting to find some produce. thanks to Yelp, we were able to find this gem of a farm. like other Yelpers have said, I will attest to the fact that the produce here is exceptional, and exceptionally clean. it does appear that they do at least a cursory wash of everything before it is put out. the variety and array of produce is what impressed me most- there were apple varieties i'd never heard of, in additional to multiple types of beets and cauliflower, multiple types of radishes, bok choy, different kinds of lettuce, and just about everything else you could hope for. prices are very reasonable, many items were priced even less than you would find at a grocery store. folks were friendly, and there was also a cute little retail section in the back of homewares. there were also baked goods (sweet and savory) from a local bakery. this is the perfect one-stop shop not just for produce, but other items as well. my husband and i will certainly be back in the future.

Yelp
I have been going here for so many years that I've lost count!! It's always consistent. Reliable. It evolves too. This they have donuts as well which is nice. They handsdown have the best vegetables and fruits around and when they get the corn boy does it SELL. Theres a corn seasoning for it too which is nice can't remember the name though. My son and daughter have shopped here for years after I showed it to them and they say that the plums and tomatoes and SO MUCH more is just fantastic!! We are huge Foppema fans!!!

Yelp
It was my first time here today and this place did not disappoint. Lots of farm fresh fruit and veggies to choose from. Everything looked beautiful and delicious. The corn was to die for! Definitely worth the drive over the state line. Reasonably priced for high quality produce. I will be back!

Yelp
Oh how we love Foppemas. I anticipate opening day and dread the closing day (last day of October) Great veggies (grown on the property that surrounds the farm stand), sauces.... gotta try their Vidalia Onion hot sauce... I literally hoard this stuff when I go in there. They have fresh baked goods, candy necklaces, Swedish fishies, chicken pot pies, various meats as well as John Deere toys and gourd birdhouses.... and so so much more BEST farm stand in the area.

Yelp
Great produce. Nice cashier. Part of the Healthy Incentive Program.

Yelp
Simply it does not get any better than Fopema's for clean and fresh produce. Fresh breads to sweet treats to fresh dairy products. They really stand out in cleanliness as they wash all the produce before putting them out for sale. love this place !

Matt K.

Yelp
Great local produce. It definitely beats going to any supermarket.

Kristina B.

Yelp
Have been buying my produce from Foppema's Farm for years! Absolutely love them and highly recommend you make the trip to check them out!

Frank M.

Yelp
WARNING--They may have great produce but DON"T under any circumstances use your debit card at their register. Because they are a half assed, hayseed operation in the finance field, when you buy ANY amount with your debit card, the third party thieves they use to collect the debit transactions will put a $1000 hold on your checking account until Foppema gets their $7 for a dozen corn. In the mean time, any checks you have written, or internet payments you have authorized will BOUNCE, as if you had ZERO $$$$ in your account. My $7 of corn cost me $125.00
