When I lived in the area Id shop here 2-3 times a month. Today I popped in for my 1st visit of the season prior to visiting a family member.
I've always loved this place... Plenty of variety of the freshest produce & cut flowers you will find along with baked goods, local fudge, and awesome Bliss Ice Cream.... Oops, I forgot to add gifty items like country style housewares, candles, lotions, jam, relishes, salad dressing & much more.
Today I believe I stopped in just before noon and it was bustling with customers. It appears that they are following all state mandates - if you enter the store you must wear a mask or face covering. The staff were all wearing gloves , masks and sanitizing the shopping carts. There is a limit as to how many they allow in, etc. All good. As soon as I got inside my eyes lit up when I spied fresh currants - a rarity where I live...at least I haven't seen any. Into the cart you go! Next several varieties of leafy lettuce... I have always loved their lettuce & picked up to packages. Tomatoes... Galore. I'm partial to the heirloom and as usual the store does not disappoint. Maybe 3 types of cucumbers.. I chose the baby pickling type for an Asian sesame salad on my list to make this week. Green onions also looked wonderful - into the cart. There were 3-4 kinds of native melons . I chose the dark green sugar baby. I usually enjoy this type.. ok, rounding the corner... Corn, corn, & more corn. I can make a meal out of an ear or two... In you go! Always excellent.
Okay.... Whoa... No eggplant today? Seriously? Darn! Was it sold out? Major disappointment. I didn't even see a bin.. let me explain .... In all the years I've shopped her, their eggplant I've found is the BEST. Low, if any seeds..not too large, etc. Seriously, I wait for this.... Oh no!!!!!
Ok, get a grip... Next : Beets in 3 varieties. I chose the basic red. They are always delicious.... Never woody and cook up perfectly.
I noticed several types of squash... But I wasn't in the market for it today. Actually, I was hoping for a package of homemade cookies... But alas, all sold out .... There were pies and some turnovers... Oh well. Next time hopefully.
Checking out - all marked 6' away with 3 registers open. There was a line. But it moved quickly.
I chose a Saturday to shop here...it was very busy. Actually too busy for me. I prefer a quiet day during the week. This is a great place to shop for the freshest produce & flowers either way. I hope to be able to return before they close in the fall.
