We were only in t9wn for 2 days. We got a dozen large crabs to eat back at the camper. They were BIG, and pretty delicious.

Fords is a Rock Hall staple and never disappoints! Our half bushel of takeout #1's were sweet and perfectly steamed!

Good food and friendly service. Down home atmosphere. Large dinner portions. My husband loved the white potato pie that he's not had in years.

On Sunday, April 27, 2025 at a little after 5pm, my out of town family were visiting my Chestertown family for a reunion and BBQ/Baby Shower. I, my self, was born in Chestertown and longing for some Maryland seafood. Where else, but Rock Hall! There were 10 of us and after we trooped in, Chandra (hope I spelled that) and Fox saw to it that we were settled together and we had the BEST time. Great food, great service, and a really comfortable atmosphere. I didn't get the names of the kitchen staff, but they excelled in filling our requests. Gotta have a crabcake!! Afternoon take out order: Large steamed shrimp, seasoned heavy Half dozen #1 steamed Blue crabs Corn nuggets Everything was deliciously amazing! The wait time was appropriate. The food preparation met all standards of quality and perfection. The price was fair and reasonable, considering the US economy with the world markets. Shrimp, Blue Crabs, Corn Nuggets - All sourced locally. Thanks to the cook/chef who prepared the order! We enjoyed it!

The building needs renovation and a good cleaning. The food is great. They have some really great specials at a good price. They offer fresh seafood for takeout. They also have great deserts.

Excellent service and even better food, the small-town diner atmosphere topped it off! I definitely recommend stopping by for any meal if you are in the area. Be sure to try the crab bisque, you won't be disappointed!

Very casual, but excellent food. Had crab cake sandwich. Best i ever had and I'm from Maryland. Veggie crab soup was fresh and delish! Everything was fresh, hot and tasty. If i lived closer, i would go more often. Took some soup to go home.

Ford's seems to be the place to go to eat crabs. We were there for our first time on a Saturday afternoon and most of the customers appeared to be families. Trays of cooked crabs were streaming from the kitchen to the tables and they were obviously enjoyed by the customers. We ordered from the menu and I ordered the Oyster Po' Boy and my partner had a Crab Cake sandwich. She said her sandwich was tasty and mine was OK though I've had better. Next time I will order a crab dish. The atmosphere was spartan but clean and prices were appropriate. Friendly service but a little slow since the place was busy. I will probably give Ford's another look the next time I'm in Rock Hall.

We visited Rock Hall, MD, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. A nearby place we had found first was having a private party and recommended Ford's. We took that as a good sign, and we were not disappointed. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and hot. The prices were reasonable too. The place wasn't fancy. It was good for our group of 5, and I saw a senior aged couple and a mom with two kids. The bathroom was 1 person at a time, unisex. It was clean and well stocked. The two staff there had us in stitches. I enjoyed myself all around. They prefer cash and they will take a credit card, but the bill gets marked up 4% to cover the cc fees.

What GREAT customer service. We wanted crabs originally but they are not in season until April so we ended up getting practically everything else. Rockfish ( local to Rock Hall), scallops, oysters, and Chandra's famous crab cakes. Got the hook up with seasoning, butter, and lemons. All the goodies to make our trip absolutely wonderful. The dining area is large. The area is clean. Smells great. Well lit. Love the sign behind the counter " we are at McDonald's so if you want your food in 5 minutes you might want to go somewhere else!". Total cost around $79.00. Definitely full service and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Ate here twice while visiting the area. Both times had a great lunch. We especially enjoyed the crab cakes.

I just have to say- Rock Hall, MD- you ROCK! Ford's, we had heard is a loved staple by locals. We were out crabbing for the day, took a break. We were hot and sweaty- my darling hubby took us to Fords, I stayed in the truck (too sweaty-didn't want to ruin someone's lunch ) we ordered to go. Drove back to the marina (Langford Bay Marina) a 12 minute drive, our food was still hot- fresh! We ordered an epic grilled ham & cheese w/ tomato sandwiches and their homemade French fries ( yup- we were so hungry) and home made unsweetened ice tea. Let me tell you- everything tastes not only fresh but delicious! Their menu screams home cooking. We look forward to our family's next trip to Rock Hall and dining at Ford's Seafood- so good!

We go for breakfast only. Food is always excellent, as is the service. Reasonably priced. We are not "locals"- we are "summer locals"/"chickneckers"!!! lol. We like that the portions are big, food comes out hot! Refills on drinks without having to ask- love that! We also like that when finished our meal we can go to the register and pay! We always compare other RH restaurants that serve breakfast and we always end up back at Fords. We also like to call in breakfast sandwich orders and pick up and go!

We have always loved Fords restaurant, but this year we have been there 3 times and it was not so very good. They don't do the specials like they use to, the size of the meal is much smaller, cold food that should have been hot,I got peel and eat shrimp, Well it was so over cooked I could hardly peel them, and they were so tough. Service was awful, we had to ask for silverware and napkins. I could go on, but let me say it was not worth the price, and the flys oy vay, they had a better meal then we had. Will not be going back any time soon. The soup was good and crackers were good.

We were traveling through the area recently and happened upon this homestyle diner. Our waitress was Chandra and she was super nice and treated us so good. My husband had the rock fish which we discovered was locally caught and fresh as could be. It was covered with crab imperial and delicious. I had the crab and scallop sub which was very good as well. Definitely try the stewed tomatoes. I'm still thinking about them! You will love dining here. I can't give it enough stars. We knew we wanted to try some Maryland crabs in some form and this place did the trick for us.

The food here was PHENOMENAL! We were a group of 6 who dined in. Our waitress Tammy was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She was attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. We ordered a dozen crabs, fried pickles, steamed clams, crab wrap, Chesapeake wrap, fish taco, and an open face Turkey sandwich and everyone was in heaven with the food. Truly such amazing food. The ambiance was truly a Maryland crab shack which only made it better.

I finally stumbled upon Fords Seafood for BREAKFAST! Who knew, a crab place for breakfast? Apparently I'm the only one who didn't know as the parking lot was full (new to the area with my boat at a local marina). After not knowing what's going on with Muskrat Alley (love the place but the last four times I stopped by it was closed) and showing up to another breakfast place that was "supposed" to be open and wasn't I found Fords. The staff is great. Friendly, helpful and efficient. Coffee and food was great too. My new breakfast place!

Drove 2 hours to Rock Hall to get the vaccine for my mom and we were both starving after getting it. Luckily this fine establishment was here to fill me up. We ordered the regular burger with crab dip on it (was the Thursday special), chicken sandwich, and crab balls. My burger was pretty good, the meat was cooked medium as I directed and tasted great, and with the crab dip, the flavors were confusing my mouth in a good way. My mom said the chicken sandwich was good (her chicken was juicy and tender). I had the crab balls the next day and they were amazing (5/5). Extremely flavorful and savory. We'll have to come back for dose 2 so I can't wait to get a crab cake from here later.

We had a terrible experience at Ford's yesterday. We ordered 2 dozen crabs, a dozen steamed clams, and corn nuggets well in advance. When we arrived to pick it up, we only received one dozen crabs, no corn nuggets, and no melted butter for the clams. We should have checked the bags and counted the crabs rather than trusting them! When we called them immediately about it, they said there were no more crabs, and they don't give melted butter in takeout orders as it could spill - even though they do have containers with lids! Then we found that half of the clans were either missing (just shells) or were full of sand and no clam! It was disgusting. We got a refund for the clams and missing crabs, but we will never go back. How can an order be so completely screwed up? Ugh!

While visiting our friends in Maryland, we decided to grab dinner in Rock Hall. Our friends love going to Ford's for crabs and wanted us to check it out. Hmmmm.... You know those places that are considered hole in the walls? And you just know the food is delicious?? Welcome to Ford's!!! No kidding. First off.... My husband gets very antsy when eating at new places. And usually will get a burger. Because how can ya mess up a burger, right? The girls Sarah and Kathleen, were so kind and patient. Great gals. Our friends ordered the crabs. Husband ordered a mushroom burger with Swiss. I ordered the Chesapeake Wrap. And had an order of the Chesapeake Fries. Crabs looks delish!!! Big guys!! The burger??!!!! PERFECT. The fries? Awesome!! My wrap?! Holy crap. It was good. Man oh man. If you want to have a hometown feeling with great service, this is the place. Nothing fancy. Felt like it could be your "go to" place.

I called Christina in the morning to have two dozen crabs steamed for pick up at 3:30 p.m. Dozen male medium crabs $24 so I ordered 2 dozen $48.00 thinking I had the best deal ever, and an average person will eat 8 to 12 crabs each. I got to the café at 3:30 p.m. and luckily I found a spot to park it was packed. Yes this is where the locals go for crabs its the best price in town and its down home. nothing fancy just good food. While I'm waiting my turn in line, a nice woman starts to tell me she was having her daughters 11th birthday party and getting a 1/2 bushel of crabs for $60. WAIT. STOP. Okay that's a crab feast a 1/2 BUSHEL is only $12.00 more than what I'm paying for 2 dozen med crabs and I would have at the very least 3 1/2 dozen !!!!! I quickly said to Christina I want to change my order, however , she explained the crabs are steamed to order and I cannot change my order. My order was ready for pick up and that's it. I felt so defeated. Really disappointed because I had explained that I wanted two bags of crabs one heavy with old bay and the other medium spice , however, all crabs were in ONE bag and seasoned with spice the same way , so not sure about the crabs being steamed to order and spiced. Crabs were sweet and hearty and nothing beats a Maryland Blue crab.. lessons learned to order a 1/2 bushel that is the best bang for your buck.

It's definitely a casual restaurant whose charm is that it is more local than tourist focused.... If you want atmosphere, get takeout and go sit on the beach, or under the gazebo! The food is reliable, the shrimp salad is yummy. Personally, we always get lump crab to make crab cakes, a bushel of steamed crabs to eat while we're there and 2 quarts of the Cream of Crab soup cold to go to enjoy the day we get home. It let's our Rock Hall vibe stretch out a little longer! Ps... This weekend's #1s were huge and heavy!

Ooof. To go order. Scallop basket - tiny scallops - fried but ice cold in middle. Fries burned within inch of lives. Baby back ribs - doused in sauce and loads of unrendered fat. Chx parm and pasta may be available all day, but why? Nothing to see there. Even temp heating for to go orders a challenge as frosty bits in many dishes. Crab bisque flat tasting. Yes crabs are the thing here but take a pass if anyone in your party isn't dining on them. We had three in our party feeling the hype was.. just that. Ending on a positive note: crab eaters and not all agreed the corn nuggets are stellar. Don't miss them.

The place has seriously gone down hill. One of the two dinnerswe ordered last night was so salty that it was inedible. Turkey? They didn't offer to take it off the bill. But, to add insult to injury, when I went to pay, we were charged $2 for two glasses of tap water! The owner clearly has no understanding of custmer relations. Poor food, poor service, and price gouging for tap water?

Wow! Take out during COVID 19 was hopping today. So many cars in and out. Good sign for us non-locals. If we lived nearby we would go broke buying food. Couldn't get my hubby out of the place. Ordered the shrimp po' boy for me and oyster po'boy for hubby's lunch. He also ordered jambalaya and crab bisque for dinner.

Solid crab cakes -no filler- and FINALLY some decent hush puppies :) Corn nuggets were a bonus and the baskets are a great deal. Recommended.

Drove past the place on way to vacay rental. Called in an order due to COVID as it appeared to be small restaurant. Family tried Crabby Grilled Cheese, fried shrimp basket and shrimp Caesar for lunch. Everything was delicious! Husband insisted we return for dinner and we had Clam Strip baskets with slaw and added pound cake and orange layer cake for dessert. Again the food and portion size was great. Service was terrific too! Wish we had a seafood place like this in Alabama!

My new favorite restaurant in Rock Hall. The food is fantastic. The folks working there are warm and friendly. Just ordered from here two nights in a row. Can't recommend enough.

It's good. 1980s vibe. Friendly fast service. The last time we went the hot turkey sandwich was not good. That's what you get for ordering that at a seafood restaurant. Haha

My husband and I sailed to Rock Hall for the 4th of July weekend. We ordered a half dozen (#1's) hard shell crabs and had to use the marinas rental bikes to go get them. I called ahead and they were so pleasant on the phone and said they would have our crabs ready later that afternoon. We picked them up and enjoyed them on our boat that evening. And they were delicious! Lots of meat and a half dozen was plenty for us. Very pleased and they weren't that expensive. Look this place up is you're ever in Rock Hall! You won't be disappointed!

Fords is a incredible place where you are treated like family. The food is down home great meals and pricing is affordable

Mediocre food. Also charge $1 for glass of faucet water! I have never had to pay for tap water. That does not make me want to return.

What a great little diner! Great food, daily specials and friendly staff! They also sell fresh seafood to go and homemade desserts.

When you see locals piling in, you know you're in the right place. Good food at a good price. Good service. Good vibe.

The new wait staff is not so good... I watched them hang up on call in orders, short change a woman and then get upset when the lady called her on her error, not even remotely pleasant while taking orders and it was so bad folks were just walking out. The only good thing is the food is always great. But the wait staff with the exception of one lady was just bad. But again the food is worth it I suppose, there aren't many options in this small town.

This is one of our favorite go-tos in Rock Hall. On our way into town, we stop and pick up a soft shell crab sandwich and a crab cake sandwich. Both delicious with hand cut fries. My husband raves over the soft shell crab sandwich- two small crabs on white lightly toasted bread...every time he says it's the best soft shell sandwich ever!!! We also go for breakfast...again nothing fancy but always good. It's like good home cooking and the prices are fair for what you get. I highly recommend this place for casual, delicious food.

Fresh seafood, family oriented, reasonable price, highly recommended if you have a little bit patience to wait.

Ordered vegetable crab soup (bowl) and side garden salad. The soup had excessive amounts of cabbage in it and very little crab meat. Potato chunks were too large for one bite. But, it was flavorful. The kicker was my garden salad was a little too fresh from the garden as it came with a spider in it. When this was pointed out to the server, she denied it could be a spider as she personally inspected the salad before serving it. Upon further inspection of the critter, she stated she would show it to Mr. Ford. She returned halfheartedly apologizing and we were comped $3 for a salad. It felt like the server's attitude was more focused shifting blame than customer service. This was a 1 star experience but the 2nd star is for their amazing desserts that I have enjoyed previously and highly recommend.

Wonderful, local dining. From their breakfast special to their dollar crab special, their menu has no wrong choices on it. The service is attentive, friendly, and prompt. I've been staying at one of the marinas in town and have eaten quite a few meals here now. A few tips: -pay the little bit extra for the blueberry pancakes -their Lima beans rock -leave room for dessert -look at the chalkboards for the specials (that's where the really great stuff is hiding) -don't forget to take home some fresh seafood from the case on your way out (assuming you think you'll have enough room to eat again in the next week or so)

Best place to get crabs in Rockhall quality and price makes it a five.. Bring your own beer and a family atmosphere..

Was there this weekend (Pirates and Wenches) with my mates. Great breakfast! Super service.

Just out driving around stopped for breakfast. We had the special on the board. Decent for the money, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, home fries, scrapple. Also had a 1/2 size of sausage gravy over homefries. gravy was excellent!' Potatoes could have been cut up much smaller. Over all very good for the money! Staff was very friendly!

Keep returning for simple, good food. They taught me how to eat steamed crabs. There is a special every day. Corn nuggets are addictive. Employees are extremely friendly.

I thought this was the same people that were at the closed down Ford's restaurant outside of town, so we decided to stop for dinner. We both got the crab cake dinner with Maryland crab soup. The soup was ok, but the crab cakes were full of a custard kind of filler, and were overpriced. Asked for broiled, but got fried. The salad came on plates that were too small, as the lettuce kept falling off the plate with each bite. There is only one restroom and the nearest table is within 3 feet of it, so those poor people get any odors when someone uses it. The worst part of the experience was one loud mouth, obnoxious waitress that wouldn't shut up! I don't know how that can be any good for business! This is not the same as the original Ford's outside of town. I won't be back!

Called and ordered a half bushel of #1's yesterday to pick up this morning. Crabs were awful!!!! Defiantly not fresh and defiantly reheated. Several had the ammonia odor that they get when the are cooked after being dead. Drove an hour out of the way hoping for good crabs. I know it can be hit or miss with crabs but you would think a business would give you a heads up that you are getting nasty crabs.

Born and raised on the Eastern Shore - I know seafood. Enjoyed a lunch during a return trip to the shore last week and it was fantastic. The seasoning in the veggie crab soup and on the hard crabs was a little light for natives, but still good. The highlight was the server. As my mom put it, "she was an old school waitress!" Good size lunch portions.

Really great cheap, fresh seafood! The staff was very friendly and generous, and showed us how to crack our crabs - even giving us an extra one for free. Not a fancy establishment, but the food was really good. Highly recommend the crab cakes and the crab dip.

I just got off the phone with my Mother and asked her how her dinner was on Monday August 20,2012. She had plenty to tell me. She ordered a open roast beef sandwich with cole slaw and stewed tomatoes. One bite and she could not eat the over salted beef and gravy. Texas toast was used and did not compliment this dish. The cole slaw had MUSTARD in it. Stewed tomatoes were so sweet she couldn't eat those either. When the waitress asked her "not too hungry today?" my mother replied "oh I'm hungry just can't eat this because of the taste!' At that statement the waitress walked away saying nothing. Then,.... she came back and asked if she wanted a BOX!!! My mom;s reply was so so good... "I couldn't eat it here why would I want to take it home?" She never even bothered to ask my Mom if she could get her something else? Poor quality food. Poor service Oh by the way .... my mom is a fabulous cook . She knows good from bad food at her age (78)
