A Guide to Canada's Gaspé Peninsula

"The only way to stay inside the magnificent Forillon National Park is to book a designated campground. Fortunately, there are a number of unique structures, including these five charming teardrop-shaped cabins just a two-minute walk from the sea." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Beautiful park with really well taken care of spots. I stayed in the North Site section B and all of the sites were well groomed and all seemed like well picked layouts. Additionally, this section has brand new washrooms and they are heads and tails above what I have ever seen at any campground - way to go. Campground washrooms and showers don’t have to be gross - they’ve figured that out here!

Our family visited this park on Jul 4 and did a hike to cap-Gaspé trail. It is an 8km hike with elevation. It's absolutely worth the effort! Mesmerizing views of water, mountains, and trees. Picture can not depict the actual beauty of the view. In the end, when we reached Le bout du monde (Light tower), we were able to see whale in the middle of Ocean and seals at the shore. That was quite a view!

The pass for the park is valid for 24 hours and eligible for multiple points and entry. Cap bon ami was the best point of attraction. Multiple points to visit with various activities at visitor center. Ample of parking spaces and washrooms are everywhere. Didn’t went on hike at bon ami because people returning back mentioned that it was very steep.

Beautiful park! Stopped for a visit by chance as we were going through to Perce and we have a discovery pass already and we thoroughly enjoyed it! saw the other reviews about the wildlife but didn’t think we would actually see it ourselves but jokes on us, 10 minutes into our first hike, there was a mama bear and 2 Cubs eating a few feet off path. Never seen a bear up so close, felt pretty vulnerable. We decided to wait from a distance to see if they would move along but after about 15 minutes they hadn’t moved so we turned back. Decided to go do some other things in the park and come back later. We did the boardwalk on the south side, small fort beside it, and le chute waterfall hike, then came back to attempt the walk out to the eastern point again. Didn’t run into the bear family again but ran into some moose. Lots of friendly people warning us or what they were seeing on the way in. Stunning park overall with some great views! I only wish they had the bathrooms open. I feel like park service should be based on temperature and presence of snow rather than a set date. There were park employees all over. Why couldn’t the washroom be open.

Nice easy hikes and views. Went there 2 days in a row. Unfortunately, first day was really foggy, but paths are well maintained and feel more like a nature walk than a hike.

We camped here for several days and were very impressed. A standout highlight among many on a 19 day swing through the province. Superb interpretation and facilities. More than worthy of being known as a "National Park." I really appreciated that the expropriated residents were included in the park interpretation. We camped here and thought that the facilities were excellent and great value.

One of the most beautiful parks I've seen in Quebec is a piece of paradise. It's a huge park, and each section offers a different activity. You can go kayaking, swim at Cap Aventure, or fish. There's also a historic area showing the traditional houses of the First Nations. The park offers various trails where you can hike or drive from one spot to another, stopping to explore along the way until you reach a dead end. At this must-see and must-visit place you have to do a moderated hike distance about 8.4 km round trip, positive elevation 287 m. you'll find Cap Gaspé where the Gaspè light house & the final tip of Quebec on the map. The view is breathtaking—you feel like you're at the edge of the world, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I give this place a ten out of ten. I loved Gaspé because of this park.

Yelp
Good national park. The views are great, the infrastructure and signage is good, and you can get mobile phone reception in most of it. The park also isn't that huge so visiting it is not too massive an endeavor.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at Les Cabines sur Mer one night during our trip around the Gaspé coast. It was recommended to us to go for a hike while we were in the area. The trails are well maintained and there were some historic places, like an old general store, to check out along the way. There were also these red chairs we used to take a break and do some whale watching. We walked all the way to the "Land's End" peak of the Gaspe peninsula, there were some piknik tables and a lighthouse shelter to have some lunch before the long walk back. There was also a porcupine chilling out in the clearing area for sure enjoying a snack from people's leftover lunch. On the way back we chose to take the more direct bike path rather then going back on the windy walking path. 30 000 steps later we could almost see our car when we came right up to a baby/teenager bear!! He moved on after a while and we continued to our car, it was so much fun to see all the nature and take a break from all our driving. I would definitely come back one day to try out the other trails.

Yelp
One of my favorites of the Canadian National Parks. The Quebec peninsula offers a number of accommodations, but Forillon National Park is a place to truly explore. There are Hostels / Hotels / Motels and full accommodations in Gaspe (surrounding areas). If you are traveling the Quebec peninsula, take at least a few hours to drive through this National Park of Canada - Cape Bon Amiee will take your breath away! Good travels!!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful national park. Well-maintained, clearly mapped and marked, and quite reasonable admission. We went on June 1 and it only cost $11 to get in (2 people, 1 car).

Yelp
This is where the Appalachians go into the ocean. You can take the trail to the tip but this walk is narrow and precarious. Take plenty of bug spray and you will have to look out for bear. Nice areas for picnics.
