This was a tricky review to write as there are so many things going for this hotel and on balance we had a lovely time and felt it was good value for money. We did an overnight spa package.||Positives|Staff in the hotel are friendly and the swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms are a welcome addition to the spa visit. The main restaurant has a lovely buzz about it in the evening and we found the food to be exceptional, great flavours and good value. Staff at dinner were attentive and we enjoyed our evening. We upgraded to a superior room and had a Juliet balcony which opened up to views of the golf course. The room was very spacious, well appointed and clean. The bathroom was also very clean and appeared to have been recently renovated. ||Negatives |In general, we felt the hotel lacked lots of attention to detail which could make this hotel great! On check in the young girl continued to chat with a colleague about what tine she clocked off and her night out whilst we were giving our information which we found a little rude. The pillows to sleep on were abysmal, I think perhaps the worst we have ever slept on in any hotel. As a result my partner did not sleep. The beds are fine. The changing rooms in the swimming pool area are filthy, smelly and in dire need of updating- it really lets down the whole spa experience in my opinion. The hotel does feel like the spa takes second place to the golf aspect of the hotel which is fair enough but I don’t think it excuses the state of the facilities in these areas. I had two spa treatments, both of which were OK, however, I felt like my therapist could do with additional training. I had a head, neck and shoulder massage and she didn’t touch my neck or shoulders which was disappointing.||Overall it’s a nice hotel and generally well appointed. We had a lovely time and felt it was reasonable value for what we had. Would we return? No, I’m not sure we would. Would we recommend a visit? Yes, particularly if you’re keen golfers. As a spa visit there are better spa stays out there in our opinion.
