Formosa Aroma 島嶼茶鄉 - Temple City, CA

We finally found a place with fresh pulled tea and taro balls! I ordered the Jasmine Buddha Oolong Tea with non-dairy creamer and taro balls at 50% sweetness. The drink was great with a strong oolong flavor and floral jasmine notes. The drink was quite pricy but definitely worth a visit for the tea and toppings. We went during their 2nd anniversary promotion and got a cute reindeer magnet too. Update: We came back to try the Ember Oolong and Golden Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea at 50% sweetness. The Phoenix drink was amazing; you can taste the richness of the roast. The Ember Oolong was good but definitely was weaker in tea flavor (roast and caramel). I would get the Phoenix oolong again but skip out on the Ember.

Love the focus in good Taiwanese tea (closest to Taiwan quality that I've drunken) instead of just crazy sweet concoctions. The interior space is also nicely lit, covered parking in the back, and lots of table space. Reviewers are weirdly harsh here saying it's great and then giving 4 stars.

Great osmanthus milk tea with rice mochi! Tea flavor is noticeable which I appreciate. Might become my new favorite boba spot in 626. Has wifi and plenty of outlets if I wanted to work/study.

Drink tea for it is life eternal. And so I have been told. It’s time to for a tea adventure. Here at Formosa Aroma-Temple City, all of their drinks are made on the spot with exclusive tea leaves imported directly from Taiwan. It is a small bubble tea shop located on the first floor of a modern luxury apt building. I came one evening to grab a hot tea. It’s my first time trying this new tea shop. They have a breadth tea menu - milk teas, espresso, cream foam, fruit teas, yogurt, typhoon and specialty teas. I decided to be adventurous, thus, I ordered a hot Pouchong Green Tea. It is really good and somewhere between oolong, black and green tea, lightly oxidized tea with floral notes. Hence, the deep green color appearance. This popular Taiwanese tea house is small with modern design and layout. Staff were mostly young, competent and professional. Service was slow but depends the time and day. Free wifi. Plenty of tables to seat at. Rear parking available. Overall, I had a nice order experience and enjoyed my hot tea. I highly recommend Formosa Aroma.

Ordered a Sakura Whip Matcha Typhoon with 70% sweet. The matcha here is balanced by the whip in this drink, not too matcha heavy so it’s good if you like something lighter than a full matcha drink. The Sakura on top has a nice sweet flavor once mixed into the foam. The 70% sweet was barely sweet so it’s fine if you choose 100% too. This location was still under soft opening when I went, the line was very long stretching out the door. The staff are pretty efficient with getting their orders out. There is just enough sitting space indoors and out so don’t have your hopes up on seating space. The interior ambiance is very modern with some tea decor and signage. They do have exclusive teas only found at this Temple City location too. This location is under an apartment complex but there is also a garage space for customers along the side of the building that can be entered from the street.

Formosa has a lot of tea options, we tried a few but nothing stood out near as much as we’d hoped. We will be heading back sometime to try out some other options when in SGV and hope the tea we choose pops a little more for us. Friendly staff and nice space.

We got the hojicha latte and hojicha pudding iron Buddha oolong tea. The teas that we got were delicious and you can definitely taste the difference between the flavors of the teas. I think the quality of the drinks is pretty good too. The interior decor is nice and upscale. Also they have outlets and USB ports installed next to some of the tables, which is a major plus. And there’s a parking lot behind the building.

THE TARO BALL TRIFECTA IS YUMALICIOUS! Nice tea flavors overall, some teas are stronger than others, so ask for recs if you like specific or stronger teas. The Ember Tea was on the lighter side but with a nice roasty flavor! The shop has decent amount seating too with nice interior.
