Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"A casual yet elegant eatery known for crispy, wood-fired pizzas and a surprisingly strong Italian influence, it also doubles as a lovely setting for afternoon tea, serving seasonal sweets such as madeleines made with locally grown Kyoto strawberries."

Absolutely lovely restaurant in a luxurious feeling hotel tucked away in Kyoto. We went for an evening dinner and the inner pond of the hotel looked amazing (in addition to the calming atmosphere inside with dimmed lighting and gas fires). The food was incredible - we had ordered the whitebait risotto (portion size on the small side) and the wagyu beef burger (larger portion size). For desert we ordered the strawberry and vanilla cake. Prices are to be expected from a 5 star hotel but for the quality of the food it felt appropriate. The service from the waiting staff was overall okay but they did make some mistakes (forgot to give us knives with the meals and gave us our mains before clearing our finished starter plates).

Very fancy restaurant. Good service and good food. Nothing special about it. It is not clear why prices so high, probably because of it's location inside of 5 star hotel, and very fancy interior. Food 4.5/5. Service 4.5/5 (they forget to serve knife). Anyway we had good time there.

What a luxurious dining experience! Everything from the warm modern decor to the kind and attentive staff made us feel welcome. The food was superb! Each dish highlighted the quality of the ingredients and had such unique and carefully crafted flavors. The beautiful garden next to the restaurant that you can stroll through is the perfect cherry on top,

Had breakfast here for my previous stay at the MITSUI. It was such an amazing experience, getting elevated Japanese breakfast option overlooking the snowy garden during winters. Love the set menu so much, especially how fresh all the ingredients. Loving the service as well, servers were very prompt with my orders. I love the ambiance above all, loving how the vocal point is the garden. Make sure to book the garden side tables! Very recommended.

Very good food overall. Good service as expected in a 5 star hotel. Lunch deal is decent value starting at 5000 yen for 4 courses including dessert and coffee/tea at the end.

Superb food at a very beautiful hotel and nice atmosphere of hotel Mitsui Kyoto. Local ingredients adjustments to be used for Italian cuisine seamlessly with very delicious taste. Highly recommend especially the thin crust pizza. Meat sauce pasta is also well done. The menu will be serve in a five courses called moderate for me. A-la-carte can be ordered as well.

Fantastic service…. Situated in The Hotel Mitsui Kyoto ‘Forni’ is the Italian restaurant. I went for a green salad, vegan pasta, four cheese pizza with truffles & finishing up with Basque Cheese Cake. Definitely need to visit the gym ! The pizza was on crispy thin bread so much lighter to digest than heavy dough. Tomoka the staff who served had an excellent blend of service and friendliness - quite a rare skill in Japan Highly recommended and did not break the bank at all!
