On the Grid : Forna a Legna

"If you say italian pizza, then we say Forna a Legna. This little italian place is known for their pizzas and authentic italian atmosphere - and the word on the street is that they make the best pizza’s in town! The small tables outside the restaurant is covered in checkered tablecloths - italian style - and is often packed with people, when the danish weather allows it. Swing by and try out the ‘Pizza of the month’ or anything else that makes the italian blood in your veins pump a little faster." - Made in Wonderland

This family run business and their staff are truly the cherry on the cake to what I would consider the best pizza in town. Very cosy environment, the restaurant offers a wide range of italian products, including beers! Carlo and staff, thank you for making us feel at home!

Terrible place. Tried to place an order with one of the person working there, he did not even answered when spoken to, did not confirm our order. Another guy comes and takes our order. They end up making our order twice and get very aggressive once they realize they made a mistake. One of the guy aggressively tells my husband « to speak and communicate better with his wife so that it doesn’t happen again and she doesn’t order too » when I am standing in front of him… Great way of talking to your customers and taking women for idiots, nice mentality… Because we are polite, we offer to pay for the extra order they made by mistake, and the same guy tells us that he does not need our money and that he has a lot of money. At this point it would become comical… if they weren’t so aggressive. Don’t waste your time or money on this place, the pizzas are gross, no taste and cheap ingredients and the staff is rude and ignorant. Plenty of better pizza places in Frederiksberg, with nice people and great service.

Went for a quick bite. It is a very relaxed place where the pizza is served in the box. The pizzas are very good.

If you want to get a quick pizza while in Frederiksberg then this is the place! I have been here many times and I can say for sure that it is my favourite pizza in Copenhagen and has to be top 3 for any foodie in the city. The pizza itself is just superior to any other you can get (with very few honorable exceptions), it is made in a stone oven, which you can see right when you open the doors and it's cooked with wood, as the name of the restaurant suggests. They have a lot to choose from with 55 pizzas available right now and of course you can customise any of them to your liking. Personally, I love any pepperoni pizza and they have many variations of it on the menu. I guess that the restaurant's main concept is take away as pizzas are served in cardboard boxes even if you dine in. It's not a drawback, I think it adds to the atmosphere which is created inside, although I would like to see a more simplistic style which is so iconic for Denmark. I love the staff working there, I have many lovely conversations with them and you should try talking to them too! Top pizza in Copenhagen for a great price, made in an authentic natural way, nothing fancy, just amazing food.

Amazing food - definitely the best pizza I’ve ever had in Copenhagen. Very friendly and welcoming staff - we got some snacks from the house for no reason whatsoever. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the place and we’re definitely coming back.👏👏👏 Also, if you go, make sure to check out the shop next door with all sorts of Italian products. It’s unbelievable! 🤯🤤

Google
BEST PIZZERIA IN THE WORLD! They really use all the best ingredients. The pizza base is done in the perfect texture - not too soft nor too crispy - just perfect! I live in Italy but I only eat pizza from here! Great and kind people and true Italian cuisine!

Very good food! Hard to get a table unless you want it to go but the food is superb! We had lasagna and calzone and each bite was just amazing!

I had a Carolina pizza. The pizza was very good. It stayed warm for a very long time. The dough was quite thin and crispy. The toppings tasted quite fresh, especially the peppers. It was an overall balanced experience that left me feeling satisfied. I would recommend this place for anyone that is looking to eat good pizza in the Frederiksberg area.

Yelp
Excellent made to order pizza. Delicious with lots and lots of toppings. But the best of all was the two men working there. They could not have friendly or nicer. While eating our pizza, we had a delightful conversation with. We highly recommend it.

Yelp
15 minute promised waits turn into convenient 75 minutes without apology. Seems to treat some better than others, multiple customers came in and ordered after us but received their food before. If you like waiting at pizza places for the greater part of an hour, then this is the place for you. Pizza: 3* | Service: negative stars. I'd have to get paid to go here again.

Yelp
Pizza that's freshly made, make sure you have enough time, it takes a good 15-20 minutes wait for the pizza to get ready.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I visited Forno a Legna the day before I departed from Denmark. We hadn't seen each other in several months, and a cloud of sadness loomed over our heads as we spent our last day together of the trip. But sunshine peaked through the cloud when we found this cute pizzeria. Food in Denmark is expensive. During my 11-day stay in the country, each satisfying lunch I ate cost at least $20. This pizzeria offers a variety of pizzas that cost less than $9. Although the pizzas are advertised as personal sized, I think a couple could easily share a pie. As we sat in the restaurant's small seating area, my Italian boyfriend and I devoured our food. I ordered the carbonara pizza and felt blown away at the flavorful bacon, mozzarella and tomato sauce. My boyfriend ordered a similar pizza and said it tasted like food back home. Overall, this pizzeria is a gem in the midst of expensive restaurants in Scandinavia. I would have rated this place five stars, but the employees seemed a bit disorganized and rude when asking for payment. Everyone should visit this pizzeria to find cheap food and a taste of Italy.

Yelp
Great pizzas for low dkk's, in Italian. I've so far only visited once but there will be more visits to come. The menu has many standard type pizzas but also quite a few original ones. I tried one with pesto, potatoes and grana padano which was truly delightful. Interesting taste combination and well baked in a warm Italian "forno". Price is cheap for what you get. The waiting time was a bit long so I could visit the FBC, buy some wine and come back again - I wasn't in a rush but it could be wise to call and make an order first. Since I speak Italian I had a conversation with one in the kitchen but couldn't make out the dialect. Sounded a bit like southern Italy but will try to figure that out on my next visit.

Yelp
It's not a 5-stars pizza at all. Some of the reviews are pretty old so this place might have been better in the past. Who knows. But let's review it as-is right now. I went to this place because I saw extremely good reviews but, as often here, the reviews turned out to be way way off. Reasons why this pizza is just not good enough: 1. MOZZARELLA. Look at the mozzarella (pic below) it is so cheap and yellow-ish, while it should be white and tasty. That's definitely not a good mozzarella, you can see it also from the counter, it's yellow and cheap. 2. OREGANO. They use oregano. Let's say it loud and clear, oregano doesn't go on pizza!! OMG is it that so hard to understand? It is not on the recipe for pizza! Stop using it! 3. OILY. The pizza is oily. When a pizza is oily, it's not a good pizza. 4. QUALITY OF INGREDIENTS: it's bad. Let's take the HAM for example (pic). It's the cheapest ham you can find at the supermarket. You know the one they sell in little squared boxes? That. It's bad. It's bland, it's cheap. That's what they give you. 5. PINEAPPLE: it just wrong. Should never be used on pizza. Every serious and real Italian place doesn't allow a pizza to get ruined by using pineapple I'm so tiered of walking into places with 4 or 5 stars reviews and get cheap/mediocre food. 5 stars means outstanding, this is just so bad that I don't even know how someone can even think about rating it 5 stars. Please look at the pictures below and tell me if you think that that freaking terrible ham and that yellow mozzarella are 5 stars ingredients. They are just not. Everyone can see that.

Yelp
You know those memes that use the Dos Equis picture of The Most Interesting Man in the World? Well, I don't always eat pizza, but when I do, it's from Forno a Legna. Fantastic quality, totally reasonable prices, actual authentic pizza taste (unlike so many of the other pizzeria places around town that totally ruin pizza). Pro-tip: There is usually a line so a good trick is to keep a menu handy and call in your order ahead of time so you can skip the wait and go straight to eating.

Yelp
Great place ! So happy that I randomly ran into this lovely place ! Remind me those good times in Rome!! Very good price, the food is amazing, friendly service ! Here for sure will become one of my regular eating places!! :)

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place! The value of the pizza is THROUGH THE ROOF, not only is it delicious, it is incredibly affordable! I absolutely loved biking over to this little pizza joint and grabbing a couple pizzas to share with a friend in the park nearby. Definitely an all locals only kind of place. That having been said, the wait-times for the pizza are often on the longer side, and while it is well worth the wait, if you're in a hurry, you should probably find another place to go to. Even so, be sure to set aside some time to check out Forna a Legna if you haven't already!!

Yelp
The pizza and crust was perfect, we had the Margarita and the Carbonara with artichoke added,

Yelp
Have been to this pizza place twice, and have to say that there pizza is pretty awsome. I had the Hawaii and the one with chicken. Were satified with both the pizza. The only thing that I think was less good, was the amount of salt taste the pizza had. It was pretty heavy with salt, but maybe it was because of the amount of cheese. Taste = 5/6 Can`t complain about the price. It was very cheap, I think I paid about 50-60 dkr for one pizza. Also they serve beer there, which is awsome. Price 6/6 The queue was not to bad, but that maybe because I went when there were not so many people. I waited for about 15 minutes, and I think that i reasonable. Service 4/6

Yelp
The mozzarella and the sauce are far away from real ones, Sorry but only not Italian could appreciate this "pizza",it is a pity because the dough is not bad

Yelp
Look no further this is the best pizza you will get in Copenhagen.. Not saying it´s the best pizza I have ever had - but it is good. I always chose the one with the spicy saussage with extra garlic - amazing. Other than that one, do they have a great selection of pizza, there is def. one for everyone. It´s not possible really to sit in there, so I usually take it to go. Friendly staff and fast service.

Yelp
I've been to this place a few times and had mixed experiences. They have a mild tendency to burn the pizzas when they're really busy but normally you're guaranteed to have a nice meal here. The fact hat the police comes here regularly is a solid indication that this is a nice place to eat.

Yelp
Ah, how many compliments can one give a pizza place? Good prices, quick service, and a bunch of super nice dudes who work there. I go there so often the owner knows what I want even before I mention it (it's 'Uno Francese, FYI ). The place tends to get super crowded most evenings so it's best to place your order on the phone and pick up the pizza at the restaurant. Total value for your money.

Yelp
Love their pizze, and friendly atmosphere, very authentic with great choices for vegetarians (not that I am one, but nice to try smth different than the average pepperoni pizza).

Yelp
Well. What can I say? It was delicious. I had a calzone which was the most beautiful calzone I've seen in my life. Special kudos to the perfectly melted cheese inside along with all the other perfect ingredients. The prices are just unbeatable. It's incredible, you can have two big pizzas for less than 120kr.. and for the quality, I don't think you could have that anywhere else.

Yelp
The best pizzeria in Copenhagen this is the real Italian deal you even order in half Italian half Danish but the owner Italian is forever in the place. They have a few seating places so sometimes is nice to have a pizza there and enjoy the chaos of tons of people ordering amazing pizza. My favorite are there white pizzas specially the one with artichokes it is amazing. The location is great in the heart of Frederiksberg just beside Frederiksberg center you can always find an amazing Italian drink to go with. The best part of the place is their stone oven it is awesome.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and calzone is just beautiful. Only issue is time but I guess that's because it is always so busy

Yelp
do you want a REAL italian pizza? do you want it cheap? enough said, go to forno a legna! top notch pizza and menu, fast (10 minutes wait for a long wait) they also offer two italians beer: peroni and nastro azzuro and I must say despite being italian danish beers are easily better/cheaper. go there, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Anna F.

Yelp
I tried a basic pomodoro-mozzarella. It was very salty and the mozzarella didn't taste like mozzarella at all. The dough was OK, but still not good enough.

Mads G.

Yelp
The food is good but the service is very mixed. Staff behavior is erratic at best, sometimes giving you five star service, sometimes yelling and being angry, while other times ignoring you outright. Service is best in the pizzeria, worst in the deli. Their cold selection is nothing to brag about unless you like eating white bread in large amounts. The pizzas on the other hand are quite good.
google avatar

Yelp
My one and only favorite Italian pizzeria in Copenhagen - the pizza's they make come closest to the real Italian thin crusted pizzas I craved for since my visit to Italy last summer. So far I have never been disappointed; great value for your money!
google avatar

Danie R.

Yelp
I've gotten pizzas from only 3 places in Copenhagen, this time around. Well, of the decent, normal hour variety. All were similar in size, crust, cheese, whatever. Forno a legna stood out for various reasons. First of all, prices were reasonable. I got a pizza with less toppings for more money on åboulevarden, UGH! Second of all, you can tell that the pizza is cooked in a legit wood fire oven. I worked 3 years at a brewpub that had one and the way it cooks the dough is just far superior. Third, their toppings are numerous. I really appreciate the fact that they were not skimpy on my cheese, løg, and mushrooms. 4, their service was quite nice. Dude that took our order was pleasant and gave us all the instructions on how it worked, paying and picking up-wise. Five, it was delicious and quick! This pizza was was so much better than some of the others I've had in every way. By far my favorite pizza in Frederiksberg!

Yelp
After a few minutes eating there I was kicked out to the cold (5 Degrees Celsius, strong wind, humid) because they were closing. After I mentioned they could have told me earlier they would be closing, they told me not to come back to the restaurant.
google avatar

Palle M.

Yelp
Forno a Legna has been my favorit pizza location in Copenhagen, since i've moved to the city a year ago. The pizza's are great and made in a stone oven. The Italian owners bring an authentic atmosphere to the place and the service is always top, even though the place is often packed. Only downside to Forna is its popularity which causes long waiting times, especially at weekends.

Thomas G.

Yelp
Service is crap, pizzas are undeniable good. There are always a lot of people, and you never know when your pizza is ready. Have waited more than 30 mins before and realized that the forgot my pizza. Get a number system and I will come back

Yelp
ohh, why have i never been here before? i don't remember that much from this night but i do recall that i ordered the mushroom and truffle white pizza. though i prefer pizza with red sauce, it did not disappoint. the crust was crispy on the bottom but with a chewy interior inside the edges. i wasn't able to finish it but the pizza was just as good the next morning as a hangover-curing breakfast. the guys working there are friendly and did i mention the pizza was delicious? i won't be surprised if i find myself here again soon, even when the night doesn't involve copious amounts of alcohol.

Yelp
one of the best pizzas I have had for some time. reasonable prices. It is an excellent choice, if you feel like having pizza. Friendly service, quick delivery.

Frederik N.

Yelp
Fantastic stone-oven baked pizzas - some of the best in town. I regularly go for the Bresaola.
