Yesterday, I visited Delimara in Malta, and it was an incredible experience. I started my day at Fort Delimara, exploring its historic architecture and learning about its significance. The guided tour was informative and gave me a deeper appreciation for Malta’s military history.

Brief history Fort Delimara was built between 1876 and 1878 to defend Marsaxlokk Harbour. It is a typical example of a British Victorian fort when fortifications were constructed low lying and camouflaged as much as possible. Its original artillery comprised of six 38-ton Rifled Muzzle Loading guns, of which four still survive. New Breech Loading guns were installed in 1892, 1913 and 1939. The parade ground includes the soldiers' barracks and other ancillary structures. It was active during the Second World War but was decommissioned in 1956 when coastal defence was abolished..It is possible to visit the Fort just on open days organised by Heritage Malta.

Old fort preserved as world heritage, used to be a museum. Now, I am not sure if it is closed for visitors because the covid restrictions, or if they just close for keep more preserved, once that tourist activities can cause detritions. Located in a natural park, it is a very nice place for hiking, with a amazing and unique sea view, also a nice view for the port and the power plant.
