Fort Lee Historic Park, Palisades Interstate Park Commission

Fort Lee Historic Park is a historic gem with spectacular views. Visiting this park is like stepping back in time. It's very well-maintained, with pleasant trails, grassy areas, and a stunning view of the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge. The information panels tell the story of the Revolutionary War in a very interesting way, ideal for both adults and children. The small but well-organized museum offers a fascinating look into the lives of soldiers of the time. The staff is friendly and always willing to share interesting facts. Perfect for a quiet walk, taking photos, or just enjoying a peaceful moment with a beautiful view. A place definitely worth visiting more than once!!

One of the best park I’ve been. Very clean and easy to walk. It’s the best if you have kids and need to bring a stroller with you. It has two entrances, and one you can see the view of Manhattan. The other one is by the sea, which is more like a trail. Both places are very peaceful, well-designed, a great combination of nature and city. Sometimes you can see deers and rabbits.

Fort Lee Historical Park is a key battleground during the American Revolutionary War in the 17th century, where fierce battles against British forces sailing up the Hudson River were fought to secure independence from Britain. The park played a significant role in the American Revolution. The visitor Center features detailed displays of British and American military uniforms and equipment from the era. The park features a viewpoint overlooking the George Washington Bridge, replicas of Revolutionary War barracks, and artillery positions designed to target British forces sailing up the Hudson River.

It’s really nice to go walk around here , beautiful view , nice and clean walking area, good to watch the GWB from here !

I come to this park at least 2-3 times a week since 2021. The photos are from various seasons from 2021-2025. It’s a peaceful park with a great view of the GW bridge and the Hudson/NYC. It’s never too crowded and the full loop is about 1 mile. There are plenty of parking (paid). There are many benches and picnic tables peppered throughout the park so you can be surrounded by tall trees to soak in some sun. Also, there is a deer family that roam around the park—last year in spring of 2024, I spotted about 6 deer in the pack including the babies. One thing to note is that there is no public bathroom so I’ve seen people struggle to find one. But there is no bathroom inside the park!

Awesome place to come and visit. Take a short hike with your loved ones, experience a little bit of history. One of the NJ hidden gems. This place is perfect for walking, cycling or running.

The park and it's people offer a great and manageable experiential time. Also, I love dioramas.

First stop on our Revolutionary New Jersey tour! Using the map from the Crossroads of the American Revolution, we will attempt to visit all 59 places in NJ that “witnessed the Revolutionary War - the buildings, battlefields, homes and encampments, starting with “The Cockpit of the Revolution” (20 places). #1 - Fort Lee Historic Park. Located in the Palisades, it has a visitor center with lots of information, displays, a small gift shop and an auditorium. The first floor is fully accessible ♿️ with restrooms, a vending machine and water fountains. Second floor is reached by climbing steps. It’s free to visit. While the grounds are open daily, the visitor center is closed on Monday and Tuesdays. Outside, the park areas are well tended, with wide paved walkways and beautiful views of the George Washington Bridge and the Hudson River. Lots of benches for resting, plenty of shade. It was lovely to walk around. Pets not allowed, nor are bicycles (outside of the parking lot). Fort Lee (the fort itself) was located outside of the park… here one finds reconstructions of a blockhouse, gun battery and soldiers/officers huts. During the year the park holds cultural and historical programs. Check their website for info. Great for kids and history buffs, as well as anyone visiting NJ and NYC. Lots of parking, but it’s metered (paid) parking (in effect year-round).

Been here a couple of times with family and we love it everytime , we have a barbecue and play cards for a few hours , amazing spot

Beautiful vie of the GW Bridge. Easy access from Public Transportation. This park is open daily, but the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesday.

Beautiful park by the Hudson and spectacular views of the world's busiest bridge, the George Washington Bridge. 6 lanes, double decked and still jammed. If you are an American history buff you must come here. This was the pivotal site for the control of the Hudson river from the British forces during the revolutionary war.

This park has amazing views. Being able to see the bridge so clearly on a day without clouds was awesome. The park is clean enough, the bathrooms are a little gross but that's park life bro. There's a visitor center with a historical museum. Who knew George Washington hung out in Fort Lee ‍

I'm surprised I didn't see more people here. The views of the GWB are amazing. iIt's completely in your face. The paved road, which becomes the dirt path, along the water is so nice. Be sure to work your glutes on the stone stair case that lets you appreciate how much of a descent you made to get into the park.

I haven't been to the official area in years but it was awesome when I was a kid. I plan to look them up and take my gs troop there.
