Fort Monroe National Monument

We just did a family trip to this place and we were all really impressed by Ft Monroe. I am not that much into history, but there is just so many interesting things to learn at this place if you are open to it. My kids really loved it too, which was great to see. Now they ask me to go back so we can explore even more.

Extremely clean. Friendly individuals everywhere. My children loved the history involved and the cannons. Would definitely recommend to anyone of any age.

This is a really cool and overlooked piece of American history. The museum is only open W-F, and we were there on a Tuesday, so I didn't get to see that, but walking on the fort and reading about the history was great.

Nice place to visit bygone era fort. But the buildings need better maintenance.

Totally loved this experience. The entire visit was interesting and pleasantly surprising. The museum was amazing, and walking and driving around the fort was satisfying and thought-provoking. It was already fun entering through the very narrow gate. Walking along the rampart and through the tunnel was a great experience. Can't recommend this place enough. We didn't set out to find what we did, but lucky happenstance gave us a great surprise to observe and interact with.

Soooo beautiful, quiet, and peaceful 1st thing in the morning. You feel a cool ocean breeze, a colorful Sunrise, plenty of parking (go slow around the fort as there's light and blind bends). It wasn't hard to get to or find, just tool extra time to realize I could drive in, and not walk. A bonus in this heat.

Great place to walk around and take in some historic sights.
