"A historic site in Virginia with significance in African American history, particularly as a place where enslaved people sought refuge during the Civil War."
Absolutely gorgeous. Perfect place to watch the sunrise. Or catch a few dolphin sightings. You might see some container ships or barges, as well.
Amazing seeing all the historical sites. I'll definitely be back in the summer to make use of the fantastic beaches!

We didn’t get a chance to visit the museum because it didn’t open until after we had to leave, but it was really cool to see the fort to walk around to see it and think about what was happening there ao many years ago!

There's nobody there you can walk all around the place. No tickets or anything. Plus you can watch all the ships coming in and out of the ports. It's a very cool place. Lots of history.

Fort Monroe is an incredible piece of American history. The views of the Chesapeake Bay are beautiful, and the old fort itself is fascinating to walk through. You can feel the history everywhere you go — definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Lots of work being done so when they get some restoration finished hopefully it will be a great historical spot to visit. Detours so couldn’t get to the lighthouse. Museum not open on Mondays.
