Absolutely wonderful tunnel tour for $15 per adult. The historical society volunteer guides are great and explaining everything and happy to answer any questions. They’ve done a wonderful job at keeping the fort open to the public and restoring a huge piece of local history. Amazing views from the top with plenty of ocean life to watch. Would highly recommend.

Was an awesome visit. All the exhibits, the views, tunnel tour, and the 1pm firing g of the cannon.. we enjoyed talking with Bob, and Norm was lovely, Norm's sense of humour and stories were brilliant.

Admission is free, and the staff at the front gate are very friendly, welcoming us and providing some additional information. The panoramic view from the top is truly awesome, and I highly recommend a visit when you are in Newcastle.

Absolutely Fantastic! Greeted by the most friendly host, he was a delight to have a conversation with, even told me little poem on our exit. The site was kept beautiful and quite the visit considering the history.

What an absolutely amazing historic place! Must see when in Newcastle! Free to enter the grounds and walk around self-guided but I highly recommend the Tunnels Tour. Around $10 for just over an hour tour. You go down and explore the gun tunnels up to 8m under the ground. It is fairly flat walking but it's a solid hour with really no seating so keep in mind your walking/standing ability. There was a lady with a walking stick and she managed. Also highly recommend being there for 1pm cannon clock firing. I would allow an easy 2.5hrs+ to explore and tour.

Yelp
I have lived in Newcastle all my life but had never visited the Fort. This place was built in the 1800s and is a fascinating step back in time. The guides are very knowledgeable (and funny). They are both entertaining and informative. Also has the best view of Newcastle in Newcastle. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This fort reminds me of military relics in coastal cities in the US like Fort McHenry in Baltimore. MD. So I really enjoyed visiting this site. They had rooms with replicas of how it once looked with artifacts. There's a nice view of the beach and ocean. They have cannons. It's really fun to explore this site if you like military history. I think kids enjoy it too.

Yelp
Great place, good for a visit of you're in Newcastle. Worth seeing for a history lesson. Worth seeing for a giggle and a look at some working WWII era guns. There is a kiddies playground nearby, a reception centre and other event spaces. Not sure about the catering. Staff friendly. Sure, it's not The Tower of London, but it is free and it is in Australia. Good to see, well restored in places, interesting displays. Would like to do the tunnel tour.
