I would give it a 5 star, but we felt a little like sardines (or, as my husband said, cattle being herded) on the boat ride to and from. Once at Fort Sumter, the ranger talk was very informative and engaging He did a great job and deserves 5 stars. I feel like the amount of time there was more than sufficient to walk around and take in the surroundings. We even saw dolphins swimming next to the Fort. It is worth the trip to see a first-hand glimpse into a significant part of our history. And I do recommend a trip over to see it.

I thought the ferry price of 37$ was a bit high. Purchase tickets online or at the NPS building at the docks. My particular ride was in February and was quite full about 200 people. The ferry does have a warm inside room that has a snack stand. The island itself is quite spread out, but the actual museum is small and stuffy . With 200 people there half at any given time fill the inside museum. It gets cramped. All in all a neat place to visit if you love US history. The rangers are great and knowledgeable. The ferry ride is about 30 minutes and views of the harbor and dolphins along the way will happen. Don’t forget to get your stamp if you’re a NPS geek like me.

It was an ok experience overall, mainly because I helped lower the flag. The island itself offers a bit of walking around, but since there isn't much left of it, there isn't much to see. The gentleman who told the history by the flag was great and very informative. The flag lowering at last trip of the day was nice, though besides the folding of it, there was no salute or anything else, which I honestly expected as it's symbolism is so meaningful and should be impactful. The museum was small and I felt like was a repeat of what the man had said at the flag pole. The original flag being present was pretty cool to see. Something to do, a nice boat ride over, but really not something I'd recommend doing more than once really. Unless you really like story and boat ride. :)

I highly recommend anyone and everyone tour through the historical Fort Sumter! It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all those who share the love for history or if you just want to spend time with loved ones as well. It is kid friendly, so taking the kiddies will enable them to appreciate the historical information pertaining to the sites there. The ambiance was breathtaking, and the scenes unmatched. The tour upon the ferry to get to the island was smooth sailing. So be sure to book your next trip to Charleston for this excitingly new and next adventure!

Hint: if you're on the last ferry of the day you get to help lower and fold the flag. Rangers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Wonderful experience!

Half hour ferry ride to get to an amazing piece of American history. The park rangers are informative and patient to answer many questions (thank you Ranger Summer!). There are signs all over the fort to inform, gift shop, restrooms.

Great~ 30 min boat ride there, 1h15m on historic Fort. Look at 'outside' part first, then 'museum/indoors' of Fort second. Your able to see it all if you don't really lolly around. Then boat back30mins, all for $36. Winning!!! (Supposedly this flag going into storage in a week or so- Sept 14'23)†

Positives - Nice boat ride and views. Negatives - Listening to National Park, leftist volunteers twaddling non-stop in an attempt to rewrite history. The war, and the North/South motivations, were VERY complicated and far from the myopic presentation from the volunteers. What is Fort Sumter National Park? It’s a monument to a Union soldier and his men who all surrendered. And, like the rest of our government today, it’s a totally “woke” experience.
