Back Trail Segway Adventure Tour. Highly recommended. This is a 2-hour segway tour and it costs just under $100 per person. It has excellent training provided so no experience is necessary. Plus you get to ride through the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and hear all sorts of Disney Trivia and insight. The guides are amazing, the Segways are well taken care of, you get a bottle of water, a couple breaks thrown in, and some exciting extras that I can't tell you about. Something to do instead of the parks for the day and it starts super early in the morning before it gets way too hot in the Florida sun!

Although the log cabins are gone it’s still a very family oriented resort. Very relaxing no hotel atmosphere at all. You need not leave the campground to enjoy your day.

Very nice RV sites. I wish there was an online bus schedule, but they seem to run every 15-20 minutes. Easy to navigate. Campfire has been a fun event. Don’t miss out on the song along.

Best campground ever. Staff is very helping and the place is spotless.

We LOVE coming to this resort. It's one of our favorite resorts at WDW. So much for the kids to do. The Trails End Restaurant has yummy fried chicken, pizza, hamburgers, and other fixings. I'm so glad they changed it to a quick service restaurant. It's so much more affordable. I highly recommend this place.

One of the better campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at. The sites are level, most are shaded, clean bathrooms, decent showers, convenient laundry facilities. There are many activities, some are free, some cost extra. 2 pools, one with a slide, with games in the pool twice a day. It’s quite large, so it helps to bring or rent a golf cart, but there are also buses to get around. And you can take a boat to Magic Kingdom!

Google
Great resort, very challenging getting larger RVs and trailers throughout the park. It’s great that there’s a boat that will take you to magic kingdom, and if you jump on a team you can get to Epcot as well. Very nice pool and splash pad, great activities for kids. Also your parking pass works for all the parks as well which is very convenient. Grounds are clean and well kept.

Was there for the first week of June 2025. Crowds at the parks were low. Fort Wilderness was great, definitely had that old-school state park vibe. Yes, the sites are a little tight, but it was built in the early 70s afterall. With that said, it is a well maintained and great way to be in the Disney bubble. Rent a golf cart, or bring a bicycle.

Yelp
We had a great time the campgrounds are well maintained and the comfort stations and the pools were a nice amenity.. CSC go that operates the washers did not address the issues we had and it cost us $30 to do 3 loads of laundry because one set of dryers didn't work right. But everything else was awesome. The staff were great and very helpful.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time at Fort Wilderness. It was a little rough parking in the campsite but staff were able to quickly find us another spot. Note If you have a long trailer the spot might be ok but some spots have electrical boxes close by making it almost impossible to get into the spot. There are many things to do such as campfire shows - tip bring your own stuff or pay disney prices for their kits. There are some nice pools, parks, tennis courts, water show at night. Get the golf cart - we didn't the first day and realized we needed to. Bring stuff to decorate your rented cart or campsite. There are some small souvenir stores- but beware they are definitely disney prices for water/ice cream bars. Overall the campsite was big and had a lot of shade. We will definitely be back - the rental cabins look nice!

Yelp
Say what you want about Disney they really know how to do these hospitality things. This campground is amazing. It really is amazing. Plenty of pads. Everything is concrete. Everything is marked clear directions. Great property cut out of the woods and the swamp. Really nice park. They even have street sweepers. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome

Yelp
WARNING! DANGEROUS SINKHOLE AT DISNEY NEXT TO PLAYGROUND AND DOG PARK. Yesterday, I was walking to the dog park next to the playground at Ft Wilderness on a grassy area and all of the sudden I took a step, the ground opened up and my entire leg was in a sinkhole. My heel was bloody and torn up (among other injuries). I called for paramedics. Lynn, a manager from Disney came by and he said that they would try to "make some magic" to make our stay better. I said that would be appreciated. Well, here's the Disney magic: it's a day later and they did not even call to see how I was doing. Their guest relations' practices could use some enhancement --- their pixie dust is just plain old household dust after all...This was a terrifying experience and Disney has not shown the least bit of care or concern.

Yelp
As an Orlando resident we decided to take a weekend glamping adventure here. In typical Disney fashion everything was amazing. A heads up, the resort grounds of where everything is setup so it is SO much easier if you bring/rent a golf cart. Golf carts sell out quick so my advice would be to call and reserve one immediately after you decide to book here. The whole setup is spacious. The lush Floridian vegetation is prominent throughout the resort. I booked a premium RV site, which came equipped with sewer, water, electric and enough space for a large RV, large SUV and our rented golf cart. The way it was setup was where you basically have your own mini forest behind you and enough bushes to give you privacy between RVs. It's the type of place where most people say hello to others in their loop. Like I get why old people do this. I felt welcomed and had so much fun.

Yelp
We did not know what we were getting ourselves into staying at Fort Wilderness on our recent trip to Disney for a wedding, but we ended up having a ton of fun! Fort Wilderness is definitely more of a family spot, but it also makes a great respite for anyone who feels a little overwhelmed by all that disney has to offer and benefits from some peace and quiet. The cabins are spaced out nicely and are decently sized with a living area, kitchen, and bedroom complete with a bunk bed and full sized bed. Unfortunately, there were no more golf carts available to rent when we arrived so we had to travel to/from the outpost by bus (or walking). Luckily our cabin was only about 1/2 a mile away so it wasn't too far of a walk, but if you are on the opposite end it could turn into quite the hike! The buses do run regularly to all different parts of the resort (outpost, pool, dining area, etc). What I really loved about Fort Wilderness was all the additional recreational activities the resort had available. They had everything from horseback riding, archery, fishing, kayak renting, and a movie night under the stars! It really made me feel like I was back at the sleep away camp I went to as a kid with all the options. All staff working was friendly, welcoming, and helpful (especially the bus drivers)! Fort Wilderness is also a pet-friendly resort, so prepare to see lots of cute doggies out for walks or cruisin on the golf carts!

Yelp
We loved staying at the campsites we rented an RV and were lucky enough to stay in the site beside my parents. Let the cast members know in advance your parties are connected. I highly recommend renting a golf cart it's great to drive to the bus transportation, recreational area, and dining area. They keep everything clean on the grounds. There is good space between each site. The bus transportation is easy to get around and the boat to magic kingdom is nice. They have plenty of areas to walk your dog.

Yelp
We had a cabin for our stay here. It was nice to have more room and to be able to make breakfast before going to the parks at o'dark 30. The bunk beds are great for the kids and the bed was comfy. I wish there was more storage for clothes for the number of people who can stay here. I also wish there was a bit more of an equipped kitchen as far as things like a mixing bowl or spatula or whisk. It's hard to even make pancakes with what's there. The service was ok but they don't refresh towels often. Shower was ok.

Yelp
What an absolute terrible time. Disney must be paying people off with the amount of awesome reviews this place has because it's simply not the most magical place in the world. To start the prices for a camp site are a joke. 2 nights over $200 for a basic camp site with electric, water and gravel sad at best. So unlike some we are not rich therefor don't have a golf cart but do have groms, of which are small motorcycles, just to be clear smaller than a golf cart... but can't park in golf cart parking... why you may ask because Disney just wants you to rent there golf carts at a totally reasonable $70 a day... just to be clear it's not reasonable... rather spend that on a round of golf back home... which with golf comes with golf cart.... Anyways besides that they also have some lady on a golf cart that terrorizes the park making up traffic laws which is hysterical! The more she talks the more I found it hard not to laugh as she was a buoyant making stuff up as she went, must have been some supervisor or wanna be supervisor as she had little person syndrome for sure! This place is nothing but a terrible money grab from Disney! The experience is crap, the entertainment is meh at best everything they produce here just isn't what it should be for the amount of money they are taking in hand over fist. The fact that a kids craft is extra money... most resorts I have been to, outside of obviously Disney, all the extra things that come with the amenities have been free unless it includes alcohol! I'm not impressed do not plan on coming back. Also there could be walkways over the dirty creeks to make walks shorter however Disney just wants you to spend money on a golf cart.... So why would they do that! They could easily swing free marshmallows and s'mores at the night campfire but why not charge you $10 for a pack of stuff that realistically costs 5-6 dollars. I could go on and on. Long story short if you have a lot of money you probably wouldn't care blowing it in whatever. However for your budget friendly vacation this is not it!

Yelp
We had seen a lot of positive online reviews about Fort Wilderness campgrounds in Orlando, FL. We decided to make a January getaway with our RV and try Fort Wilderness out. On a positive side, the service from folks working are classic top drawer Disney. The campsite was good, nothing special, but our campsite loop was surrounded by swampy water and mosquito breeding grounds. When the sun came out so did mosquitoes. Maybe better rain water management around campers? Because Fort Wilderness is so big, many campers rented electric golf carts just to get to the main park bus stop that has busses to other attractions. We weren't interested in renting a dumb golf cart (should be for old duffers on a golf course). The in-park busses for our particular part of the campground were never around or going the wrong way, so we walked a lot. Bottom line is: transportation could be better. Finally, Fort Wilderness is just looking long in the tooth, like it hasn't seen the same improvements as other Disney resorts in a long time. For example; at one of the bathhouses, a rental air conditioner was dripping water on the floor creating a slippery hazard. When I noticed the problem, I used the courtesy phone to notify maintenance. Five hours later I stopped back at the same bathroom and found nobody had touched the problem and there was an inch of water running across the floor from one side of the building to the other end. Finally a couple minutes later I flagged down a Disney maintenance person zipping by in their golf cart to bring the matter to their attention. The guy walked into the bathroom, came back outside and said: "wow you're right!" "That's not good!". Based on the lack of attention, it looks like nobody checks the bathrooms more than maybe once a day, if that. None of this is a deal breaker for staying at Fort Wilderness, but I found doesn't seem to track with the usual Disney Resort way.

Yelp
Hands down our favorite resort at WDW. When we drive through the gates our whole family just sighs with relaxation. You won't believe that just around the corner are the busy, bustling theme parks! Beautiful surroundings, wonderful activities, great pools! What more can you ask for? Oh yes, you're at Disney! Our favorite loop is away from the main areas. I know some people like being right next to the pool, etc., but we like being in the more wooded areas. What a treat to walk the dog and see wild turkeys, deer, armadillos. You just never know what you might see. Every night they have a campfire and singalong right before the outdoor movie. There is quite a bit of seating for the movie, and a chuck wagon for snacks if you didn't bring your own. We always bring our smore kit with us! You can bring or rent a golf cart as well as bikes. We like to bring both. They have a beautiful bike trail that you can ride all the way over to the Wilderness Lodge and back. Swimming pool is huge and they have daily activities for the kids. You can do as much or as little as you want here. And of course, you have access to Disney transportation to take you to any of the parks or to Disney Springs. Bathrooms and laundry facilities are on each loop and are kept very clean. Ice machines are outside the comfort stations. You can watch the MK fireworks from the beach area as well. The nighttime water parade is fun too.

Yelp
I'm sure when most people book a campsites here it's all about something to do with the total Disney Experience, that wasn't really why I chose Fort Wilderness for my inaugural outing with my new RV. Having been to the Disney Parks before I knew anything associated with Disney would come with the very best of everything and great utility connections and this resort would be the perfect venue to validate all the systems on my Motor Coach were functioning properly and it's close enough to home to do it on a long weekend before hitting the road on an extended vacation. This is not an inexpensive option especially knowing I wouldn't be taking advantage of many of the park's amenities that most people come here for. I booked a premium site (#532) for two nights and paid $356.00 including all the fees and resort taxes which I must say it was worth every penny. These semi-private campsites offer a nice level pad that was easily accessible for my thirty-eight foot RV and plenty of room to park my "toad" without feeling cramped. This site was mostly shaded and had a thicket on both sides with a small canal behind it, clearly designed to give you plenty of privacy everyone knows nothing at Disney happens by accident. We chose not to rent a golf cart but there's no doubt this is the preferred mode of transportation once you arrive and park the camper there's little to no parking for anything you tow outside your campsite so I'd probably consider renting one next time. The 500 loop was everything we could of asked for - these one way loops keeps the traffic to a minimum and is actually a lot quieter than I had originally thought. Booking and checking in online was a breeze, we received our magic wrist bands a few weeks in advance of our arrival so you definitely want to plan ahead this allows you to by-pass the check-in lines and go directly to your site. I'm already looking forward to booking my next trip here...

Yelp
We absolutely love this area. We come camping here with large group and we here and we are treated fabulously. I am pretty particular about the bathroom and I have to say they are clean at least once an hour. I love being able to walk around, go to the fifth Kiliti meeting the both the golf cart. My kids love the tetherball I'm just running around I highly recommend it to people who just want to relax. My family always loves renting the golf carts and running around the property with it! You are part of Disney still! We always get firewood to make a big campfire at night- my husband brings a Disney approved firepit to make the campfire. The workers are absolutely helpful and they respond in a timely fashion. We usually bring our pop-up and it's a great experience.

Yelp
Sit back for a long review. But I promise I will be as detailed as possible. Check-in: this is a drive up process. If you did not complete the check in process online you will do this. We had our magic bands set to pick up at the hotel. We received them and it went well. They gave us our campsite number (we did not get to pick locations and we were not able to see the site assignment within the Disney app prior to arrival. We were assigned site 2053. Then also handed us a map so we could find it. Boy is Fort Wilderness big! Golf cart rental: we called ahead to reserve two golf carts for our party of 5 as we knew we would want to spilt up. When you call to reserve the carts they ask for payment in full. At the time of this review it was $67 per day per cart. The carts do not have seat belts. There are cup holders in the front. They come equipped with headlights and a horn. To signal if you are turning you use your arm (bicycle arm signals). When picking up our carts they wanted all adults to be present to sign an agreement and produce their drivers license. You must be 16 to drive a cart. I was alone so they said we could come back to add the others. We did this but then they could not find our contract so we had to sign again. One of our carts would not hold a charge longer than an hour. We complained but nothing was done and they did not have any other carts to trade out. Luckily pioneer hall has charging stations in the parking lot and each campsite has electricity too. Since I was alone to pick up two carts they gave me both sets of keys and then put one off to the side for us to come back and get. Also you cannot pass a stopped bus on either side of the road. They say treat them like school buses but those at least have the stop signs these do not. But if you go around one. Someone will stop you. Bring things like battery lights or streamers to decorate your cart. They all look the same and this will help everyone in your party know which one is yours. Tent/pop-up campsite: we were at 2053 and would gladly tent camp here again. It was right across from a trash and recycle station and only 5 sites away from the comfort station. However, the bus road was behind our site a ways but we could still hear it and it ran late and started early. After the first night we didn't notice it anymore. We put up a two 8 person tents and a canopy. We put the picnic table that came with the site under the canopy and used as our eating area. There is a provided grill that is not moveable. At the site there are four three prong outlets and two "jumbo" outlets as well as a cable hookup. We did blow the fuse once with two carts plugged in plus heaters and phone charging. So we flipped the switch and unplugged the carts because heat was more important to us) W were able to get wifi but it is an unsecured wifi. Behind our site was a ravine that the kids used to play frisbee or throw the ball. Each campsite is on a loop. We were the 2000 loop. You may recall I mentioned magic bands earlier. At a typical Disney resort these are used as room keys, however at the fort it is used to unlock the comfort stations. It is posted the comfort stations are locked from 12am-6am. This was not true for the women's bathrooms on our loop. These should also work for charging items to your reservation. Ours did not work. Comfort station: each camping loop has two of these or three depending on your loop size. This is where the bathrooms are located, the showers, the ice machine, and the laundry facilities. Ice and laundry all take credit card so there is no need to bring your quarters. There is soap and dryer sheets for sale too. The washer door locks but the dryer door does not. I found the laundry space to be very clean and will gladly use it again. The bathrooms were also well maintained. I can only speak to the women's bathroom Don't forget your shower shoes when taking a shower! There are also multiple playground areas. Some we saw signs posted they were closed and the one by pioneer hall was open with a sign saying masks required and no more than 10 ppl at the playground. There are two gift shops which we found to have all the essentials and more. They sold firewood and coals as well as fire starters. If you forgot something one of these stores has it (food, drinks, snacks, phone chargers, diapers, toilet paper, Disney souvenirs, etc. ) Pioneer hall is where you catch a ferry to MK. We did not leave the fort so I cannot review that. But there is a Sandy area for the kids to play in. The water is completely blocked off. The fort had quiet a few picnic tables at the hall area as well. Check-out: we didn't have to do anything. I was emailed a receipt and we had to be off the site by 11 as there were folks circling to clean up. Golf cart drop off is also by 11 and you just park it and drop the keys in a drop box (so easy!) If you made it this far, three cheers for you!! Basically we had fun and we will be back!

Yelp
My family and I come here every year around Christmas time. We love how into decorating all of the campers get and always have a blast. It is truly the perfect family campground and glamping is the name of the game!! Bring rvs, trailers, or keep it old school and pack tents! There are golf carts available for rental as well as cabins for those not so adventurous holiday events include light parades, movie showings on a movie-theatre sized screen, hot coco/vendors, and fire pits (all in addition to the campground's normal accommodations). Not the cheapest family camping getaway but definitely worth it!!

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this place! We stayed here in October and it was so fun seeing how decked out everyone makes their campsites, cabins, and golf carts for Halloween. Great family vibe and all of the staff was phenomenal! We ran into an employee named Massimo who was an absolute delight to talk to. He made our night! Will definitely be staying here at every Disney visit from now on. A little tip if you rent a golf cart is to make sure you decorate yours to make it stand out from others. The keys apparently work in any golf cart and ours was taken by mistake.

Yelp
Just came back from our second visit and I am just as thrilled with our stay as the first time! The only thing I would change: Please provide towels at the pool! I know it probably wont happen as this is a value resort. It would be nice to have one less thing to pack though. I guess they would have a hard time keeping track of them. This time we took advantage of the pool and all of the activities they offer: pool party where the kids can earn prizes, name that tune, pool games, and the arts and crafts. In the eveing we enjoyed bringing our own Smores items to the campfire sing along. Chip and Dale joined us and they played memory with the kids and danced with them. Afterwards we watched Lion King under the stars (there is a different movie every night). We also went down to the lake and let the kids play on the playground and we watched the electrical water parade, as well as the fireworks. They blast the music that goes along with the fireworks on the beach so you feel like you are not missing out too much. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Very clean bathrooms, strong WiFi, and even cable TV (the same you get at the resorts-just be sure you have the coax cables you need to hook it up). Sites were level, Trash and recycling at every campsite. Sites had plenty of space for our 30' travel trailer, truck and all our furniture and toys. We were a little under whelmed by the dog park, grass needed cut and some agility toys would be nice, however it has plenty of open space and a park for small and big dogs. Everything is spread out throughout the campground so it can be a hike to get around, they do have golf carts to rent or you can bring your own but we enjoy the walking and another great way to exercise the dog so we just walked. It was a great experience and one of the best campgrounds we have stayed. Would recommend!!

Yelp
I've stayed at Disney's Fort Wilderness several times now. My parents live in Naples during the winter and my boyfriend and I have gone with them to Disney World a few times. We've stayed at other Disney properties in the past, but you can't beat Fort Wilderness for the prices. I think it would even be fun to camp there, which we did when I was a kid long ago. The grounds are clean and maintained, and the restroom facilities are sparkling! The motorcoach areas aren't packed in together and you can get some privacy thanks to the landscaping around the sites. There are lots of activities and things to do when you stay at Fort Wilderness, including campfires (you can buy a s'more building kit or bring your own), singalongs, movie nights, trails, horseback riding, pool, golf carts to rent, basketball courts, kayak, bike, and canoe rentals, sleigh and carriage rides. The Hoop-Dee-Doo Review is also lots of fun! I know a lot of people complain about the buses being slow but we never really had to wait more than 20 minutes for any bus. Plus you can take a boat to Magic Kingdom. There was a bit of construction going on when we stayed at Fort Wilderness in January 2020, but that just seems to be par for the course at WDW these days. It can be a little loud at night as you can hear fireworks and often some loud music/singing but it wasn't too bad. There are sites for RVs/trailers, tents, or cabins available. I recommend Fort Wilderness for anyone who would like to experience Disney in a different, unique way.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience! I haven't been since I was 12 and it was everything I remember (minus being in a tent LOL) We bought a Travel Trailer recently and are so happy with our first trip here. So convenient visiting the parks too.

Yelp
I just love WDW. What is better than staying at a resort that is $500+/night? Staying at the campgrounds at Ft wilderness! What can be better than being One short boat ride away from magical Main Street USA? How about one short boat ride away from my fav bar in WDW (Outer Rim at the Contemporary)? Privacy, yes. Rent or park your own RV on the full hook-up, cement pad, picnic table, water, sewage - whatever you need. tent camping sites also available. Fun extras like campfire movie and sing-a-long (where you meet the characters without paying obscene amt for terrible buffet), animal sightings (daily rabbits-deer-armadillos!), fireworks on the beach every night, electric boat parade nightly, playgrounds and bars. Every night, you hear the music and it lures you beachside to join everyone watching the sky for Disneys magical fireworks. The kids love playing tether ball, riding their bikes, hiking and being a kid without electronics! But if you have to have WiFi and cable, it is there, it's Disney after all. So many people love camping here, welcome them on your campsite, you never know who will reply or come over with coffee or an evening beer.

Yelp
Nice place if you bring the Kids. Bathroom had a smell but for the most part the staff kept up on them really good considering it is a camp. If I come back I will do it in a RV.. I am to old to camp tent with the kids. Only complaint I had was the bus service. I have stayed at other Disney resorts and this by far is the worst far was the worst service. Kids didn't want to come back. That is bad.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
The sites at Fort Wilderness are ok; there are pros and cons. The sites are level but tend to be generally pretty narrow. Fort Wilderness has lots to offer - playground, rental boats, a stable for pony rides, a few eating establishments and gift shops. Movie time with Chip and Dale is cute. I love the golf cart rental because it makes getting around a lot easier (although pricey). It's the Disney version of camping, I guess.

Yelp
Visited The Meadows Trading Post today while visiting with friends at The Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. We stopped in to get a bottle of water and some souvenirs. The lady behind the counter, Judy, was as nasty as a person as I have ever seen in all my days. She shouted at us from behind the counter and it wasn't even our turn to pay for our items. she followed up this display of aggression with 50 questions to my wife and I related to the items we were purchasing from them. Not sure what is wrong with this woman but a visit from management to institute basic human interaction skills would be appropriate!!!

Yelp
We have been to Disneyland over in California tons of times, but never to Disney World. This was our first time and we decided to bring an RV. We were really hoping that since Disney World was huge, the campground would be huge and lots of stuff to do. I think I kind of over estimated it. We got there, took 10 minutes for the people to lay out the rules and guidelines and then we were in. It was huge, with over 800 spots, just not as nice as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, this is a super nice RV park, but it is kind of cramped. There are lots of stuff to do, but I was just expecting more. I realized that this place is somewhere that is meant to allow people to stay somewhere so they can get to Disney World easily and if they come back early, they can do a couple activities at the campground. I don't think they expected you to spend a full day just at the campground, which we did because the tickets for the park were sold out. Also, I would recommend getting a golf cart. We didn't, but we had bikes so it was fine. It is a big campground and if you don't have bikes, reserve a gold cart. We will probably come back, just next time with tickets to the park! :)

Yelp
Our favorite campground so far during our cross country adventure- the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. There are so many activities and fun things to do that don't even include going to a Disneyworld park. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed daily walks, the restaurants, our site and the clean bathrooms/laundry facilities.

Yvonne M.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by the size, cleanliness and beauty of our campsite. They have so many activities if your not visiting any of the parks. Golf carts are available to rent which is easier to get around other locations. Buses are available to take you to any of the parks which is easier than driving and paying a parking fee. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. We have already started recommending this camp site to family and friends.

Yelp
Really nice campground! I was worried about noise as I usually am. The only noise we heard were fireworks from Magic Kingdom at 9am. Otherwise this place is nice and quiet! Super clean and very well cared for. The comfort station bathrooms are very clean and nice. The showers were large and plenty of space to put your things while you clean up. The buses are every ten minutes and the drivers were all very friendly. The boats for magic kingdom were much slower but was a nice ride. I loved everything about this place!

Yelp
I thank you Disney for getting my wife to enjoy camping! Fella you want your wife to like camping? then start her with Fort Wilderness! A couple of fort wilderness trips and she will be ready for the Everglades. Sites are clean, area is safe, a bunch of amenities, restaurants, close to the parks, trees might be fake though! it's Disney! I think the squirrels might be little robots not sure. Kids loved it. Bring a bike or rent a golf cart or take the campground bus (yes they have a bus) to the lake. If your looking for more primitive camping this is not your place. Fort wilderness is more like the Ritz of Camping! Your not going to be roughing it!

Yelp
I have stayed at just about every Disney Resort and the camp grounds are one of my favorites. I have only "camped" three times twice in tents and the other a camper. One of the times we were camping (tents) with three other families. It turned out to be one of the coldest nights of the year (yes Orlando gets cold compared to Miami) and a bad thunderstorm. We loaded up in the truck went to the front and they had a cabin. Shh dont tell the others. We slept in a cabin while the others hunkered down in their tents. Never told them just said we went for a ride. The cabins are great! One negative is the bunk beds. I dont care if youre 3 or 30 you always hit your head on the beam in the ceiling. It wouldnt take much to rearrange the room where the bunks ran with the beams. They would fit between the beams. Just a thought. It would save alot of headaches. This trip my 3 yr old grandson and 14 yr old granddaughter both hit their heads on the beams. Golf cart is a must. We love driving around and seeing how everyone decorates their campsites. We woke up to deer outside our cabin. Squirrels are everywhere. I love watching the kids catching the lizards. Its great fun and relaxing.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised. It was our first time staying here and it exceeded our expectations. Great access to parks and Disney Springs. Amazing family activities on the property no need to go anywhere else. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I am not a camping connoisseur but this has to be hands down the best camp sites for families in America. I came with two other families and we each have 1.5 year old toddlers and we had pop up tent sites. They also have concrete slab sites for RV's etc. Our site was super clean, has WiFi, a plug for electricity and it's own enclosed garbage can. There is so much to do at the camp grounds. A daily campfire with sing along's with chip and dale at 6:30pm, s'mores roasting and then a Disney movie on the flat screen after. Pony rides, horse rides, multiple play grounds, one large swimming pool with a toddler splash area and then another more basic pool. A marina with pontoon and speed boats rentals and also a ferry that can take you to magic kingdom or the sister resort Wilderness lodge. Lots of stores around the grounds to get necessities and snacks or souvenirs. The grounds also has many "comfort stations" that are super clean to shower and go about your business. I would definitely come back again!

Yelp
When I pull through the front entrance at Fort Wilderness with my camper in tow my stress simply disappears! This place is really special, it transports me back to a simpler time and place among the trees with a Disney flair. I like the fact than many sites are private and not on top of each other. We love the campfire movies, most people bring ingredients for s'mores, i like to bring skewers with shrimp and veggies to roast over the campfire for the family movies. Trails End and Hoop De Doo show are near the docks and are both delicious. You can view the Magic Kingdom's fireworks complete with soundtrack from the beach and later watch the water parade. From the docks you can rent watercraft or take a boat to the Magic Kingdom. There are bike trail and horse back riding, If you don't have a camper/RV there are cabins. It doesn't get much better than Ft Wilderness.

Yelp
This place is so magical. Peaceful. And nicely decorated! Disney knows how to make memories and it has easy access to the parks. Always friendly staff who enforce the rules. Recommend this campground to anyone!!

Yelp
Oh hi, I see all these beautiful reviews and now here I come. The European with a slight superior complex. Bare with me. First of all its a nice campsite with nice showers and laundry facilities. I mean it and that wasn't sarcastic, yet. The fact that we didn't have running hot water for two days wasn't bad. Really, it wasn't THAT bad. You've got a nice big heated pool with a very slow kid friendly slide which brings me to the next point. I get it: We are only allowed to slide on our bottoms and if for whatever reason we are not, you WILL have your untrained lifeguards with a very very small egos yell at us every couple of minutes to make sure we alter our behavior. Also we make sure to NEVER lay down on the floor to warm up (kids that is) and certainly and under no circumstances are you allowed to dive in head first, even a 3yo, wearing floats. If for whatever reason we dare to complain you a: don't really care. Because I mean who would, stupid us for paying $150 a night and $700 for a two day hopper pass. And b: you tell us "its for your own safety." Let me tell you about my "own safety:" Sometimes I wish I wasn't old enough for so much independence yet but unfortunately my wrinkles prove me otherwise. So excuse my language but zip it! Also, please work on your reservation regulations in restaurants, the food really isn't THAT good to wait 1.5h for. Yes I know about the app. Chill out Disneyland and let the people have some fun! No, not totally controlled fun, that might be a little controlling hohoho. Deep breaths you'll get through it without law suits. At least from the Europans. My boy is happy though and that's all that matters.

Yelp
I stayed here with my family at one of the cabins for Christmas. In this resort, you can either stay in one of the cabins or the campsite grounds where you can have a trailer or a tent. The tent is actually the cheapest way to stay on Disney grounds around $50. So during Christmas, Fort Wilderness is full of Christmas Spirit. Many people decorate their cabins, trailers, tents and golf carts. That's right golf carts! It is probably the best way to travel here since there are designated golf cart parking and you get to enjoy the scenic view of the forest. It does cost 65 dollars and during Christmas time it was all sold out. A lot of other people actually brought their own golf carts as well. But it is hard to get around unless you have a car. There is bus though which runs until 1am. We stayed at Herlon's Hollow in a log cabin which had 1 queen size bed, 1 bunk bed and one sofa bed which was as big as a queen size. It came with a kitchen and 1 bathroom. There were also two TVs. A 53 inch one in the living room and a small one in the bedroom. The log cabin came with a BBQ in the porch which we were able to use for 1 dinner. There are also plenty of activities to do at Fort Wilderness as well if you don't want to spend your time all in the parks. There are two pools, the one in Meadow Post is larger. There is also fishing (catch and release, canoeing, walking trails, horseback riding. There is also a lot of sight seeing around here. I saw deer, squirrels, ducks and turkeys while walking around. Going to Magic Kingdom is kinda fun because you have to go by boat and you can also go to Wilderness Lodge this way as well. This is one of the few direct transportations from hotel to hotel. This is a great place for families and even a good group of friends. It takes out of the Disney mindset and puts you in a beautiful campground filled with life.

Yelp
Arrival: 03/13/2019 Departure: 03/18/2019 I called Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness on the day we checked in to complain about the campsite we had been assigned to and explained the problem. We have a 33 Ft 5th wheel with slide outs on both sides, after backing into our site #309 Jackrabbit Run, ( The worst campsite in the entire park) it was obvious we were not going to be able to use our grill, it was touching our slideout and our table was sitting in the dirt next to a tent in the people campsite next to us. Their sewer hookups were right outside our front door, there was no space to walk around or have our family over outside. We were traveling with our daughter and her family of four. We could hear our neighbors music and conversations. After I had been on hold for several minutes, The Representative came on the line and I explained our situation. I was put on hold again and when she returned to say she could move me to another site on the other side of the loop #334 (Great site) but there was only one site available so my daughter in site #307 could not be moved to be closer to us, so that meant walking halfway around the loop to see our family! So, because I did not want to look at our neighbor's sewer connection, and not be able to use our grill or table we moved. I requested compensation, because I was under so much stress, and disappointed in Disney I was crying. She told me she could talk to the back office and have them call me. After the third phone call I was told I would get a $50 credit. I was so upset I spoke to my daughter about what happened, and she called and spoke to someone who offered her a golf cart, but said they were all sold out for the entire 5 days, but he could get her one for two days. When she went to pick it up, she found out that it was available for the entire 5 days, but she would have to pay for the extra 3 days. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated. Our experience in Fort Wilderness was not as I had anticipated I expected a much higher level of service from Disney and I am quite disappointed. Because we booked this trip several months ago requesting campsites close to each other. We planned all our meals together and didn't want to have to walk around the campground to see each other. We were in the Premium sites and these were not even as nice as the Full hook up sites we had in 2012.

Yelp
What can you say? The mouse is the gold standard. We have a 31 ft rv that fit nicely in our spot. They had electricity with both 30 and 50 amp connectors. Water source. And cable connection if you have tv's. Convenient trash receptacles throughout that are maintained. A central area for bathrooms and showers. And it's maintained very well. Lots of stuff to do. We rented a golf cart to get around though you don't need it. They provide shuttles throughout the area. They have 2 pools. The larger one has a water slide. There are nightly movies and campfire for Smores. Check the website for other things to do. There's allot.

Yelp
Disney seems to be good about smoking restrictions everywhere except in the Campground itself. People who want to smoke in the Campground should be restricted to smoking within their own camper or RV. Why am I subjected to their nasty habit wafting into my 'Wilderness'? Unacceptable in this day and age. Will not be back!

Yelp
We really missed Fort Wilderness and it is good to be back! As usual, Disney does it right. From guest services to transportation, to the entire experience, Disney gets customer service and does know how to create a "Magical Experience." On this trip, we had an A/C problem with our motor coach when it was 90 degrees. I asked guest services if I could pay for a one-night stay at the Cabins, next door, but they went well above and beyond (not having any cabins available) and put my family up at Saratoga Springs for a night. This is a DVC club resort and it is most certainly 5 star. They did this without charge and did so many little things to ease our pain that it was amazing. They offered two nights, but we were able to get the A/C working again and didn't need to take them up on it. The Campsites is a great place to stay, is clean, and has everything you need, including transportation to the parks. The staff does a great job dealing with stressed visitors coming back from the parks after a hot day with their kids. I'm amazed at their level of patience and kindness.

Yelp
Probably the best Campground I have ever camped at. Of course it doesn't hurt that it is run by the mouse. I stayed in the 2100 loop. Site was clean with a large Level concrete pad. There were full hookups including CATV, 30 and 60 amp service as well as additional 110 outlets for plugging in your golf cart and such. "Convenience stations" are conveniently placed and clean with plenty of hot water. Tip: hit the showers early to make sure you don't have to wait (I went between 6:30-7 every morning and was the only one there most days) You can always head back to camp and nap a little before you start your day. With Disney you pay for and expect the best and Fort Wilderness does not disappoint. If you expect luxury, don't camp, go to a resort! But if you are a camper, and love Disney, this is the place for you!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go camping! Large spacious sites, fantastic pool, golf cart rentals, friendly staff, and super close to Disney world! We are planning our next stay at the Fort and I can't wait! This is one of the best camp grounds hands down!

Yelp
Our campsite was flooded so cou I d only stay on pad. Pad is dangerous. Has ac4binch drop off right at the stairs. Barely wide enough for our trailer. So have to walk in the mud all the time

Yelp
Mix Disney with my favorite activity besides eating and you get Disney's Fort Wilderness. With anything Disney you really can't go wrong. The same can be said about this campground. Take a solid State Park and add the Disney flare and you get magic for your camper, RV or tent. We have been here several times before, but have never stayed four nights. We usually do a two-nighter, so this was a special trip. I'm perfectly content with sitting at my camper all day and doing absolutely nothing, but they do have options. There is the large swimming pool with slide and a hot tub, arcade, restaurants, country stores, fishing, boating and even a different Disney movie played each night next to two large campfires where you can roast marshmallows and chill out. There is even a small private beach that makes for a perfect view of Magic Kingdoms nightly fireworks display. The actual campsites are very clean and well maintained, as are the shower and bathroom facilities throughout the park. Disney does it right every time and Fort Wilderness is no different. We will be back this October and I can't wait!

Yelp
Add to the negative, my new neighbor likes to let their barking dogs out out 7am, so no sleeping in.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst campgrounds I have stayed in. Very little assistance at check in....ask for ID, confirmed reservation, threw a map at you with a circle of the general area you were at and sent you on your way. Not the same experience you get at any other Disney resort. Sites are small but the streets to get into them are even smaller with trees right along the road and no control of where people in other sites park their vehicles....many half in the street greatly reducing the already limited turning space. Cable doesn't work, pad was filthy and litter throughout the site. This trip is ruined before it even begins. What a rip-off.

Yelp
Had a nice stay with my family over the weekend, We have stayed her 3 times now and each time I am surprised by how consistently awesome it is. We all had such a great time. our campsite was in the 300 loop which was cozy. our neighbors were a little noisy in the mornings, but nothing crazy. Tons of activities and things for the family to do. We did the carriage ride this time and was very pleased. our Guide was patient and informative.

Yelp
These campsites were wonderful. The staff is awesome. I would prefer a fire pit available but it's great for what it is. The horse stables are phenomenal.

Yelp
Well it's Disney after all!!!!!!! What a great place to camp and make memories. The comfort stations are easily accessible, clean and plentiful. They have laundry rooms, ice and great showers. The campsites are large and very peaceful. Golf carts are a perfect addition if you'd rather not walk. There is so much to see and do.
