It is a hostel set in an historic house. The staircase is beautiful. Daniel was an excellent host, so cordial and accommodating. He is such a professional. I don't think much would ruffle his feathers. We enjoyed staying there and meeting so many interesting people. Breakfast was just enough - a nice assortment of cereals, juices, and tea and coffee.

Really great hostel. Very homey and well laid out. Cozy bunks and well stocked kitchen. Love that they provide free milk and tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Such friendly staff. Shoutout to the wonderful hostel manager who found me a bed at short notice. Just what I needed after lots of travelling.

The Backpackers was only a short walk into town, which was great! The shared spaces (kitchen, living, dining) were well equipped and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. |While the bed was comfortable and the shower hot, the room and bathroom could do with a little TLC. Installing some privacy curtains for every bunk would be a good idea, especially if people can check-in as late as 10.30pm when others in the room may already be sleeping. I'd also recommend adding a table or shelf in the room, given there is nowhere to put anything in the room besides the floor.

Receptionist very kind and did his best to deal with managements desire to jam the rooms to over capacity. Not enough hot water capacity to match the number of guests so several people had to have ICE cold showers. Hard to clean properly when the place is over filled which resulted in mold in the showers. More than 1 year old low density foam “mattress” on a wooden board meant a painful night “sleep”. Once you stripped your own bed in the morning you got to see the stains and mold that are in the mattress.

My partner and I showed up late one evening looking for a room. Unfortunately they didn't have any availabile, but David was so helpful and kind and made space for us to camp in the garden. The bathrooms, kitchen and communal rooms were very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It is also a short walk to the centre (Lidl, train station, cinema). I am recommending this hostel to everyone I meet. I had such a nice time. Thanks Dave! We will be back soon :)

Easily one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in. Great location, helpful staff and volunteers, absolutely gorgeous house (the communal room is lovely and has such a cosy feeling) and the overall vibe hits the spot just right between chill, laid back and friendly while still being organised and quiet. Free hot drinks as well, and they were kind enough to let me leave my bag in the hostel after I'd checked out until my bus came so I could explore Fort William unburdened. The only thing I'd say might not suit everyone is the bunkbeds, while they're comfy and clean the top bunk only has a small guard near the ladder rather than a guard rail. I had a top bunk and it wasn't a problem for me, and probably won't be for you if you're a still sleeper, but if you're nervous at all or prone to tossing and turning might be worth requesting a bottom bunk if possible. But its not a big problem, just something to bear in mind - I had a really comfortable stay here and would come back again.

It is what you would expect from a hostel. Dorm room beds were more comfortable than expected. The shared bathrooms were a little cramped and the hot water ran out but overall not a bad place

The staff here were so lovely. Thank you for arranging to post back the clothes I had left behind. Thank you for helping us and making the stay easy. Free hot drinks was a blessing and great to meet amazing people.
