I’ve stayed often at this hostel when in the Fort William area. Great location to explore the Nevis area . The hostel itself is very well equipped and has a lovely quant atmosphere and laid back vibe. David and Chris make you feel at home and are very knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone wishing to explore the Fort William area .

Warm welcome, basic hostel facilities and free tea/coffee/hot chocolate a nice touch. Bright decor, but a bit shabby. Fantastic value for money for breakfast. Great location to start out Great Glen Way walk and able to park for free nearby while we walked for 4 days

Man I loved staying here. The volunteers were friendly to have chat with. The manager was friendly as well. It felt like a safe place. The showers were absolutely fantastic, beds are comfy enough. Anytime I comeback to Fort William, Fort William Backpackers will always be on the top of the list. Also met really cool peeps there.

A one night stay. Booking site was not clear. I believed I had booked two beds in a four bed female room. Turned out it was a ten bed room. When I asked the receptionist he was off hand and didn't seem to be bothered. Whole hostel was unloved. There is a difference between shabby chic and plain tired and tatty, this hostel falls into the latter category.|The bed was surprisingly comfy.

Spent six nights in the hostel for winter hillwalking. Highly recommend for all those who value good company, hot showers and an open fire with guitar's. Excellent drying room and kitchen/dining facilities. Thanks to Lynn and her team for a lovely stay.|Andy and Mark (Spaniel)

Fort William Backpackers is a functional hostel, suitable for those looking for budget accommodation in the area. The private room was clean and well-maintained, but the bathroom was very dirty, which negatively impacted the experience. Overall, a practical option due to its location, but the cleanliness of the bathroom needs improvement.

I only stayed here one night, but personally it was not for me. It was very hectic as the kitchen was packed with people (had to wait a while to cook) and my room was packed with people rearranging their backpacking gear, so the floor was covered. There was also only a tiny rail I think on the top bunk, so I was a little nervous, but I could have requested a bottom bunk so maybe that's a non-issue. I think there was only 4 showers (1 private and 3 in maybe a woman-only bathroom, but I could be mis-remembering!) and the bathrooms were cramped. I was coming on foot from the train station, so walking uphill was manageable with my suitcase but not the best (walking down ruled, however). I can see how this could be a fun hostel to meet people also going backpacking, but as someone just staying one night who needed a place to crash, I would not recommend.

Stayed here over Christmas. Warm welcome from reception staff and a nice friendly atmosphere. Kitchen well equipped and a good level of cleanliness overall.|Only 3/5 because the building is run down and tatty in places. Also very cold during day as heating is switched off. Guests wrapped up in blankets. Expect better than this when you consider the room rates being charged are similar to a hotel.
