The Backpackers was only a short walk into town, which was great! The shared spaces (kitchen, living, dining) were well equipped and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. |While the bed was comfortable and the shower hot, the room and bathroom could do with a little TLC. Installing some privacy curtains for every bunk would be a good idea, especially if people can check-in as late as 10.30pm when others in the room may already be sleeping. I'd also recommend adding a table or shelf in the room, given there is nowhere to put anything in the room besides the floor.

Everything you'd want from a hostel. And, no exaggeration, Dave the hostel manager is actually one of the best team leaders I've ever met. They run the hostel woth lightness & ease and the atmosphere is the best game in town because of it. Thank you all!!

The staff here were so lovely. Thank you for arranging to post back the clothes I had left behind. Thank you for helping us and making the stay easy. Free hot drinks was a blessing and great to meet amazing people.

Easily one of the nicest hostels I've stayed in. Great location, helpful staff and volunteers, absolutely gorgeous house (the communal room is lovely and has such a cosy feeling) and the overall vibe hits the spot just right between chill, laid back and friendly while still being organised and quiet. Free hot drinks as well, and they were kind enough to let me leave my bag in the hostel after I'd checked out until my bus came so I could explore Fort William unburdened. The only thing I'd say might not suit everyone is the bunkbeds, while they're comfy and clean the top bunk only has a small guard near the ladder rather than a guard rail. I had a top bunk and it wasn't a problem for me, and probably won't be for you if you're a still sleeper, but if you're nervous at all or prone to tossing and turning might be worth requesting a bottom bunk if possible. But its not a big problem, just something to bear in mind - I had a really comfortable stay here and would come back again.

If you’ve just finished walking the West Highland Way, I’d not recommend you stay here. First, and this is my fault for not noticing earlier, you can’t check in until 5, which seems to me unusually late for a hostel. There’s a nice living room area in which you can wait, but when I arrived there were already over 20 people waiting to check in. Next, the woman at reception did not arrive until after 5:30, which felt a little rude. The hostel offers a laundry service in which they will wash, dry, and fold your laundry for 10 quid, and I paid for this service upon checking in, after which the woman assured me it would be ready in a few hours. Fast forward to 10:30 and I catch the woman’s attention who clearly forgot about the laundry. A few minutes later she drops an unfolded basket of mostly wet clothes next to me. I should have checked in that moment, but trusted that the clothes were at least dry, even if they were unfolded. When I finally get up to my room to sleep, my duvet/blanket is also totally damp. Just terrible service overall and a bummer experience to celebrate a good day. You deserve better for yourself.

Warm welcome, basic hostel facilities and free tea/coffee/hot chocolate a nice touch. Bright decor, but a bit shabby. Fantastic value for money for breakfast. Great location to start out Great Glen Way walk and able to park for free nearby while we walked for 4 days

I’ve stayed often at this hostel when in the Fort William area. Great location to explore the Nevis area . The hostel itself is very well equipped and has a lovely quant atmosphere and laid back vibe. David and Chris make you feel at home and are very knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone wishing to explore the Fort William area .

Avoid. This hotel canceled a reservation I had prepaid four months ago on their own initiative. No email address until I found one and wrote a month before departure, only to find that they were canceling. I even didn't get my money back.
