The room was much smaller than what we thought. The photo was deceiving. A closet really for 3 people. The food was absolutely terrible! We only had the option of a continental breakfast which was fine but at times the scrambled eggs had black in them. The “sausages” looked like mini gross wieners and they served broccoli and cauliflower that apparently wasn’t good either.. The few pastries were stale. I spent our 4 nights there only having toast and tea. And even then the toaster needs to be replaced because even after 5 minutes there was no colour on my toast. It would have been nice to have access to hot water for tea and coffee throughout the day and evening. We could have bought our own tea & coffee if we had that access. Or better yet, supply the same tea and coffee that is served at breakfast throughout the day. Bring in the dry milk and provide a garbage can and no staff are required. The kettle the reception desk gave us took forever to boil. The beds are not comfortable. And they only give you one pillow. However we did ask for additional pillows for each of us and we eventually got them as people checked out. They advertise daily room cleaning but it’s actually every second day. We asked for every day and we got it. |Looking at the boat from a business standpoint it needs a complete renovation inside and out to make it more comfortable and attractive to tourists visiting Budapest. It is not near anything so a renovation could make it more appealing despite the distance and taxi requirements. Make the food more appealing and open the dining room for tea & coffee after breakfast closes down and put better and more seating on both sides of the deck and their rating would increase substantially. There is no way this boat hotel is a 3.5 star.

Overall I will recommend, whole heartedly. Very friendly and helpful staff, VERY comfortable bed, shower nearly blows you through the wall, any extra requirements accommodated without issue. Breakfast is typically Eastern European, everything very fresh, they don't do British style sausages, or bacon (but this isn't Britain, so no issue lol), wouldn't want to have that for 2 weeks though, let's put it like that, a few days is fine though. Toaster - meh! Location, perfectly acceptable, Uber is great, gets you anywhere, quickly. Metro a godsend btw! Do the Basilica - wow! Improvements? Hairdryer would be great, but just ask. Coffee/Kettle, maybe a consideration? Apart from that, nothing to whinge about and for the price, perfect!

Stayed at this hotel 15-19 September, 2025. The staff were very polite. Rooms in pics online look larger than in person. The place was very clean. Everything is very basic, so don’t expect any plushness. When we asked for a hair dryer, kettle and extra pillows they were very good. The biggest disappointment was the morning continental breakfast. It was the same each day, and quite basic. The toaster took forever to toast the bread. I even tried to out the bread in, go make my plate from the buffet, get my coffee and juice and the bread was still not toasted. A new toaster is needed, and a second should be added. While it was an ok experience for the positives I noted, I wouldn’t stay there again.

My husband and I visited this boat hotel just to experience something different from a normal hotel. I would say that it ok but not the best. The bathroom/toilet was tight, no air condition so there wasn’t any airflow because the temperature outside was about 25 degrees. The location/view was great and the breakfast was ok though the coffee machine stopped working so we didn’t get coffee on the second night. |In conclusion, the workers were friendly and welcoming. I will recommend the experience but I think it would be best in the spring/autumn to go there and not in the summer time.

The Fortuna boat hotel is in a perfect position on the Danube for visiting all the major sights of this beautiful city. It is a 20 minute walk to the Parliament building and the main attractions. The bridge over to Buda is also within good walking distance. ||The hotel as all the facilities you could want for a few nights stay. We upgraded to a premier room which was well worth it for the small extra cost. The interior of the boat does look a little tired and stuck in a time warp but I found this part of the charm. |Breakfast is very good, offering all you need to set you up for a day's sightseeing. The gentleman clearing the plates is a real character. He may appear a little abrupt when you first meet him but he is actually quite funny and entertaining. ||Would I stay here again? A definite YES. The hotel is a very reasonable price and you get what you pay for.

Great location. From outside it may look a little tired but inside is beautiful polished wood and brass. Room size is good with TV and en suite. No mini fridge but still good and clean room. Breakfast is good selection. Evenings of quietly enjoying the views of the Danube and seeing the fountain at Margritte Island lighting up. Knowledge staff if wishing to make any excursion bookings.

My granddaughter (22yrs) and I stayed on the boat hotel with a river view overlooking Margaret Island and we found it just perfect. The room ( twin beds) was very roomy with plenty of storage space. The beds were very comfortable and my granddaughter requested an extra pillow which she was given straight away. The room was cleaned everyday. The cleanliness of the hotel was excellent throughout. All the staff were very polite friendly and helpful. The breakfast had a good choice of both hot and cold foods as well as plenty of choice of pastries and bread. With a pleasant walk (approximately 40 minutes) along The Danube you were in the centre of Budapest for all the attractions on either Buda side or Pest side Transport is very close if you prefer instead of walking.

Stayed for four nights, it's quite run down lots of trip hazards around the whole boat.|Room wasn't a bad size, had everything you'd want, and housekeeping was very good, but very dated curtains and decorations. |Breakfast is not as advertised, grilled vegetables, some sort of scrambled egg,two kinds of small sausages, and baked beans, are your hot choices, there was also yoghurts and small cold continental choices.|It is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to cafes and small restaurants, 10-15 walk to trams and buses,20-25 minutes walk to Margrit Island, and the fountain show is wonderful there. |We travelled for our anniversary, and my wife had sent them an e-mail asking if they did any celebration packages,we had a lovely e-mail back saying that they did,and that we would also receive a free upgrade to a superior room. |On arrival we were given a standard cabin, I went to reception to show the gentleman our e-mail, he checked his computer, and said that we were booked into a superior room, but we had cancelled it,and the package, and then rebooked a standard cabin, I asked why I would have done that, he again checked his computer, and said that it was our travel agent that had cancelled it,I then asked how they could have cancelled it,having not know about it, I received a shrug of the shoulders.|Obviously Fortuna had cancelled our free upgrade, in order to sell it to someone else.
