We loved staying in the Fortuna Boat Hotel. Very warmly welcomed by all the staff. Breakfast was great and it was lovely watching the world go by on the River Danube whilst we ate. Our room was very clean, comfortable bed. We asked for extra pillows and borrowed a hair dryer at no extra cost. We travelled with Jet2 from England. Stayed 3 nights Friday to Monday. Great location on the River Danube to gain access to both Buda & Pest and all the key sights. We were glad we bought a kettle, tea, coffee and UHT milk sachets with us. TV is all Hungarian. If you want to watch TV in your language then download it onto your phone. We did a walking tour on the Saturday at 11am and definitely recommend doing this to get a feel for the city, culture and history. Using the hotel as a base to sleep in we stayed out every day to make the most of seeing all the sights. We used Uber to and from the airport. On our second full day we got an Uber to the top of castle hill on Buda (Glad we did, it's a long way up). On our last day we got an Uber to the szechenyi thermal spa - bring your own towel and slidders/ flip flops.

The room was much smaller than what we thought. The photo was deceiving. A closet really for 3 people. The food was absolutely terrible! We only had the option of a continental breakfast which was fine but at times the scrambled eggs had black in them. The “sausages” looked like mini gross wieners and they served broccoli and cauliflower that apparently wasn’t good either.. The few pastries were stale. I spent our 4 nights there only having toast and tea. And even then the toaster needs to be replaced because even after 5 minutes there was no colour on my toast. It would have been nice to have access to hot water for tea and coffee throughout the day and evening. We could have bought our own tea & coffee if we had that access. Or better yet, supply the same tea and coffee that is served at breakfast throughout the day. Bring in the dry milk and provide a garbage can and no staff are required. The kettle the reception desk gave us took forever to boil. The beds are not comfortable. And they only give you one pillow. However we did ask for additional pillows for each of us and we eventually got them as people checked out. They advertise daily room cleaning but it’s actually every second day. We asked for every day and we got it. |Looking at the boat from a business standpoint it needs a complete renovation inside and out to make it more comfortable and attractive to tourists visiting Budapest. It is not near anything so a renovation could make it more appealing despite the distance and taxi requirements. Make the food more appealing and open the dining room for tea & coffee after breakfast closes down and put better and more seating on both sides of the deck and their rating would increase substantially. There is no way this boat hotel is a 3.5 star.

Lovely hotel on the Danube. The rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and there is hot and cold options. There are no evening meal options onboard but a 5 minute walk along the river is the Vogue Boat Cafe which serves superb food.

Overall I will recommend, whole heartedly. Very friendly and helpful staff, VERY comfortable bed, shower nearly blows you through the wall, any extra requirements accommodated without issue. Breakfast is typically Eastern European, everything very fresh, they don't do British style sausages, or bacon (but this isn't Britain, so no issue lol), wouldn't want to have that for 2 weeks though, let's put it like that, a few days is fine though. Toaster - meh! Location, perfectly acceptable, Uber is great, gets you anywhere, quickly. Metro a godsend btw! Do the Basilica - wow! Improvements? Hairdryer would be great, but just ask. Coffee/Kettle, maybe a consideration? Apart from that, nothing to whinge about and for the price, perfect!

Arrived quite late Friday, check in was good.Tourist tax was € 6 total for 3 nights. The staff were pleasant and got us extra pillows. The bedroom was small but I expected this as it was originally a boat.Toilet was hard to flush as the button was on top of the cistern and I'm quite small and had to get my husband to flush it.|Would have been nice if there was a kettle in the room.|Breakfast was buffet, this had a good selection, especially the bread. They didn't have English tea ,only fruit or earl grey, you can have juice or coffee,so I had to buy some tea bags. There wasn't a bar or somewhere to relax, only on deck.Very basic, needed a lick of paint and a spring clean. It's located on the Pest side, around 40 minutes walk from the main center. There isn't a lift and stairs were a bit awkward.

Great location. From outside it may look a little tired but inside is beautiful polished wood and brass. Room size is good with TV and en suite. No mini fridge but still good and clean room. Breakfast is good selection. Evenings of quietly enjoying the views of the Danube and seeing the fountain at Margritte Island lighting up. Knowledge staff if wishing to make any excursion bookings.

Really unique place to stay. Rooms a bit dated but super clean and comfy. Shame the boat doesn't have a bar but we bought a bottle of wine and sat outside watching the river cruises going out at night which was lovely

This is my favorite hotel! I will definitely only stay there when I visit Budapest! Original because it is a boat! Extremely clean rooms! And the service is better than some five star hotels! Very delicious food and a breathtaking view!
