BEST BEER IN TOWN!! Great service! Great outdoor and indoor seating. We had the loaded fries and several beers and they were great! This is a true brewery. I am from Portland Oregon. And this is what we used to have for breweries but they are long gone now. Keep doing great things!

Amazing beer and fries! The environment is always very relaxing and cool. Great stop! And the dog wall is the most adorable thing ever!!!

Great beer selection taps/cans and awesome sunny terrace to enjoy a sundowner. Burger a bit salty but still good.

Just hopped in for a quick beer. Got a warm welcoming from the bartender and had two great local beers with a big size. Would have definetly stayed longer if possible. Nice pub!

Just around the corner from my daughter’s ex-workplace (big shout out to Mandatory Menswear!), is one of their favourite watering holes. How fortuitous to be about 50m away from each other! For a working craft brewery, it’s very tidy retail space, even though the brewing tanks are in plain view. The rest of the decor is pretty swish and funky, with great bursts of colour to brighten up the semi-industrial feel. The staff are really friendly, good with advice and tasters of different brews when asked. As a cider lover, I thoroughly enjoyed their Brightsider, and then decide it’d be rude not to have a tasting paddle of their beers. I let the bartender know that I’m not a stout fan, and then let her choose 6 from the rest on offer. The paddle comes with a handy drawing of the beers as arranged, plus their alcohol content, so you know what you’re tasting - good for future orders. Didn’t have time to look at the food menu this trip, so hopefully we can on another visit.

Nice bar and nice selection of drinks, music was a little all over the place, Food was okay. Massive shame about the horribly rude staff - more specifically, the two young ladies who were "serving" us upstairs. I attended a function last night where a lot of money was put behind the bar and into the kitchen, so to have their eyes rolling at all drink requests was rather disappointing to say the least. Every negroni was like Everest for these "bartenders" (all two of them because we were alienated into not ordering any more). They huffed and scoffed and made us all uncomfortable. I was literally shooed towards the end of the night, in my face, as we were approaching 12am (closing early for Easter) with a shriek of "YOU GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE!" I get it, we all got it, you have to stop serving and close early. There was no animosity from us about that. Everyone was perfectly polite and we were all getting ready to leave. What a way to treat people.

Stopped here for lunch and some beers while wandering around Wellington. They have a great rooftop patio. Service was quick and we were able to place a food order for burgers and sandwiches. They have a great variety of drinks, not just beers from the brewery although we tried those and they were wonderful. Nice place to spend a weekday afternoon!

Good service. They sell a range of craft beers, even feijoa sour. Food can be ordered here and is made by the food truck next door.

Yelp
The first time I was in Wellington, this was a brewery I only got to experience in the airport (that location has since closed). I made it my mission to come here first on this trip and was thankful I did. Fortune Favours has gone through some ownership changes, but is once again independent and making great beer. This is a working brewery, taproom, and lounge. They have cozy booths, bar stools, plus an upstairs bar including outdoor seating. It's right off of Hannahs Laneway, which is a must-visit area of the city with other amazing art galleries, restaurants, cafes, and bars. The staff was super welcoming that day, thank you Phill and Grant for the fun conversation, a couple free beers, and gift of neckerchief for my pup! I ordered a flight and stuck with some of the rarer styles: thankfully I was there during their anniversary so they had a number of throwback kegs on tap. All the beer was delicious; I also ordered a Gorilla Burger from next door and really enjoyed it. One of the only souvenirs I bought for myself this trip was a pint glass with their signature font, it's a new favorite. If you're a beer fan in Wellington, this is a must-visit and part of the ale trail.

Yelp
Ok. Stay with me, my review requires a bit of side-back-story. You see, my husband and I were on holiday in NZ; having only one free night in Wellington, after 20hours of flying, decided this was to be the night of the Wellington Beer Trail! Having started at Fork & Brewer, which was an old favorite spot from our previous visit in 2018- their fantastic brewer helped us circle must-try spots on the Beer Trail map, based on our preferences. Fortune Favours was not circled. Along our journey, in-between bars, we decided we wanted to stop and grab some grub and began our search for a recommended dumpling spot. Along our route, we smelled something absolutely delicious & also saw an amazing dinosaur graffiti down a long back alley..and bam! we found ourselves at Fortune Favours. Entering the bar, we asked, 'what smells so good?!' while perusing the menu-only to be told they were baking dog biscuits with the spent grains..whomp whomp. So we awkwardly decided to just leave & carry on our dumpling search, asking the friendly bartender if he could give us some better directions-to which he provided ample recommendations for eating. Arriving to our dumpling spot- we discovered a 'short staff closed sign' and decided to return to the friendly bartender at Fortune Favours. Glad for the misadventure, and friendliness, because the beers were quite delicious! I can understand why they weren't recommended to us, because the beers we ended up with weren't hazy citra ipas, so it was a veer from our normal enjoyments- but we were glad for the variety. I got the Rye Pale Ale- a piney, roasty, smooth malty hops- while my husband got a cold brut ipa-crisp and dank. We got to spend time with the bartender talking impact of shortages on the breweries, and learning more about the local area Beer Trail. Really glad we ended up here, if anyone asks us moving forward to circle spots on a Beer Trail map we will most certainly circle this location!!

Yelp
It didn't look like much from outside, but my husband was keen to try some beer, and we had some time to kill since our son was at FridayNightMagic at Cerberus down the street. I could smell good beer as soon as we walked in the door, so knew we were going to have some nice beer, but I had no idea that it would so artfully paired up with delicious cheese and meat boards, cheese fondue, and awesome breads. Great selection of beers, cider, kombucha as well. Friendly, knowledgeable service, great music. I almost can't wait till next Friday.

Yelp
Wellington has plenty of beer bars, but Fortune Favours will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first I came to. However, even over time and visiting many others...it remains a top quality spot. I love the atmosphere here. It's trendy casual, with great lighting and walls, plus outdoor space. The beers are solid all around. And the cheese pairing?! I had never done a beer and cheese pairing, but it was perfection. I was too excited for it to take a picture, which just means I'll have to go back and have it again!
