"Forty Five is a charming cafe which retails quality LPs as well as a selection of beverages. Rustic furniture, comfy sofas and a turntable make Forty Five a quality location for a quiet drink while watching the city life hum by. It hosts regular evening events, including music quizes and intimate live shows. This small cafe is gaining momentum as one of York's new generation of remarkable music venues. Wall space is dedicated to a gallery for contemporary artists to display and sell their work. While it's fair to say that the menu is limited, the music-named toasties served are top notch comfort food, using ingredients unlikely to be in your fridge. Children are welcome during the day, and high chairs are available for the littlest ones. Forty Five is already gaining cult status in York, therefore standard band merch such as tshirts and tote bags are available to purchase. Lovely owner, wonderful multifunctional space. They were setting up for some live music but made time to chat to us. Fully recommend. Great choice of drinks from coffee, tea, iced teas, cocktails & bottles alcohol (including a range of 0%/low alcohol) Plus an array of vinyl to browse & buy. Definitely want to come back again to try some food. Plenty of vegetarian & vegan options!

Came upon this cafe by accident as it's a little away outside the main tourist areas of York. Music based cafe with an emphasis on Country Music although the background music was from all types. Great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Coffee was average but our toasted sandwiches were great. Would happily visit again.

Stumbled across this gem as we walking into the city centre from the NCP carpark & our accommodation for the night. Love vinyl so it was appealing from the off set. We had a latte which was really good. They had music playing & it gave the place a great atmosphere. So the next morning we called in for a toastie & that did not let us down. Didn't really look at the large selection of vinyl records as it was starting to fill up & we were pressed for time. If I'm every back in York (I will be) then this will definitely (maybe) bet the place for a coffee & a quick bite.

Been coming here for years and so glad we got to come in today before we move away. Best toasties you'll try and such a good price! Had smoothies which were in a pint glass and ended with cake and Bailey's hot chocolate, all of it was lush and such a good price! Brilliant music, brilliant atmosphere and so chilled out! Will miss this place so much, bought many local bands vinyls and when we come back to visit family we will absolutely come back! Thank you for many years of delicious toasties and good vibes!

A vegan, a vegetarian and a meat eater go for lunch, nothing happens, they remain good friends. That's a good way to summarise this café! Super accommodating (needed a toastie without the cheese 😅) and friendly team and quirky decor

Not much in the way of Vinyl, some old stuff and. Little pricey. The cafe is great, decor great and a friendly warm atmosphere. The toasties were very nice and food prices for the centre of York very good.

Great venue, very friendly, good service and fantastic artists all playing through a brilliant sound system. Didn't have any food so can't comment but I'm sure it is top notch. Great selection of beers, wines and spirits. Great night out
