This is a lovely traditionally Norwegian, historical wooden hotel dating back to the 1800s, offering an authentic Norwegian village experience. Great location in the beautiful Lom village surrounded by mountains close to Jotunheimen, Breheimen and Reinheimen national parks. The room was nice and neat. The reception staff were friendly. Both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were nice. Food was delicious, served with great mountain views and the waiter boy was nice. But the dessert chocolate cake slice was too small, especially for the hefty price of 230 kronor and they should double the size of the slice. ||Our room category in the main building offers rooms with both mountain view and yard view, but we were thrown into the most remote corner of the hotel with a yard view, which we didn’t enjoy. Perhaps the local staff doesn’t think that the mountains are anything special, since they look at them everyday, but for foreign tourists, they are special. If I were a receptionist, I would give all the guests a mountain view, when the hotel is half-empty like it was now. Or ask the guests whether they prefer mountain or yard view, because I have to admit that there is a certain charm to the grass-roofed cottages on the yard side and some guests may prefer that. Although we didn't see much of the cottages either from our remote corner room. Their website or booking.com profile doesn't even mention or show photographically that they offer such great mountain views from their hotel, but they do, so this came as a surprise for us when we arrived and that's why we didn't even know to ask for a mountain view room.
