It's highly recommended staying here if you are travellers looking for more rest time within a long period of plan, or just want to enjoy several days with gorgeous views and without bothering noise. This place is just next to the main road, a small town full of history that's worth digging into a bit. The facilities are also great with enough place to park your cars, and no much light pollution that might be considered if you want to get more chances to witness northern lights

Arrival reception was excellent. Restaurant staff were lovely and helpful. Location right on fjord was beautiful. I had a single room which was tiny but had a big bathroom. Bed wasn’t overly comfortable and I had to remake it as mattress topper was not put on flat or straight. Breakfast was ok but not as extensive as all the other hotels. Quirky little museum was interesting as reception building used to be a hospital

We stayed here for a night and today was the best chance to have a glimpse of the Aurora - but guess what , there’s no possibility to switch off your room balcony light ?!? This is really silly. In addition , the hotel here has intermittent wifi. We also had dinner here and ordered lobster soup and lamb - there’s not much of a lobster taste , very creamy and not as salty. The lamb wasn’t bad, just a bit chewy ..

We were due to stay just one night. The very helpful waitress at our evening meal asked us where we were travelling to and advised us that there was a yellow weather warning for wind heading south. We spoke to the receptionist who organised for us to stay an extra night and have one less night at Fosshotel Vatnajökull. Both members of staff went above and beyond normal service standards. Thank you. |The hotel is a beautiful building, with a museum. |The view from our room and the restaurant was beautiful. It was very comfortable. The food was good. We were given advice on walks. Excellent stay.

The most disappointing hotel on our trip... We did book well in advance and as I am a bit senstive to noise asked for a quiet room. What we got was a ground floor room (206) where the window was few steps away from the street and in the building where the restaurant is located... |The worst, however, was that the bed was right above a ventilation system in one of the rooms below. When lying in bed, there was this constant droning and slight vibration feeling. |I went to the reception to check with them and was first very pleased as the receptionist was eager to help and sort this out. She even came with me to check outside where I did show her the ventilation "tube" underneath the room. But she reassured me that the noise can only be from the laundry in the small building few steps away from our room as there is no ventilation going on below our room. I was happy to hear that the laundry will be closed by 9.30pm. |Unfortunately, it was not the laundry as the droning continued throughout the night... Clearly there is an active ventilation system (kitchen?) right underneath this room, exactly where the bed is located! As the reception was not occupied the next morning we weren't even able to clear things up. |In combination with the hardest bed I have ever had to sleep in, the night was frankly just horrible! |I am certain that there are rooms that are a lot quieter and if we would have been able to stay in a quiet room the overall experience would have been better. A great pity that this was not the case.

This is a great hotel! We booked it last minute at the end of the season and stayed in a room with a balcony. Really a special place and we would highly recommend a visit to the Eastfjords and to Faskrudsfjordur/Fosshotel. Had a great breakfast on the water too before heading out. Sept is a quieter month, but the city has a welcoming vibe you should not miss, and staying at the Fosshotel Eastfjords complimented that vibe.

The hotel is located in beautiful buildings in the French village. We stayed in the French hospital and had a very spacious and beautiful room with a view of the pier. The breakfast was very good and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this hotel.||We also recommend a guided tour of the museum about the French sailors who were fishing in the Icelandic waters.

Fosshotel is the best hotel chain in Iceland. This Fosshotel is located by the East Fjord, with beautiful view. Receptionist Kamila is very nice and helpful. She helped us change to a nice room with balcony. Room is nice with decent size, very clean, with minifridge and safe box. Highly recommend.
