Fosshotel Húsavík

We had a fantastic stay at Fosshotel Húsavík! The service stood out right from the beginning – quick, attentive, and always with a smile. The rooms were superb: clean, spacious, and offering a lovely view that really added to the experience. ||||The food was excellent – we especially enjoyed the Arctic char with fries, which was perfectly prepared. The staff went the extra mile for us by even reheating our food a couple of times when needed. We also appreciated how they promptly provided every accessory or small request we made, always with genuine politeness and care. ||||A special mention goes to the receptionist, who was exceptionally helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. From guiding us with local recommendations to ensuring our requests were taken care of swiftly, she really made us feel at home. ||||The location is also fantastic, with many great food spots and activities just a short walk or drive away, making it very convenient for exploring Húsavík. ||||Overall, this hotel delivers on comfort, food, location, and hospitality in every way. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Húsavík!

After countless guesthouses and hostels, this was our first proper hotel, but unfortunately we were very disappointed. The economy double room was one of the very old rooms, which isn't a bad thing, but the mattresses were also ancient and worn out. We slept very poorly here and are glad we only stayed one night. It's a shame that the Fosshotel only looks good from the outside. The breakfast was good.

The hotel has a good location and is convenient to reach by car. However, I was quite disappointed with the room assignment: as a regular guest arriving around 3 p.m., I was placed in an accessible room without being asked for my consent or informed in advance. This is not professional, and I believe guests deserve proper communication and the option to choose their room type.

Amazing hotel. The staff really do care you are comfortable and happy. Helped with my dietary issues with no fuss or drama. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, choice of hot or cold breakfast, pastries and cereals. Can not speak highly enough of this hotel.

The receptionist who checked us in was incredibly friendly and kind, which set a great tone for our stay. Breakfast was good and the staff there were very friendly as well. The beds were very comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep, and the rooms were very nice overall. A really pleasant experience!

We had just come from another Fosshotel that was truly exceptional, so we were hoping for a room of similar quality. Instead, we were assigned a wheelchair-accessible room, which wasn’t quite what we expected. While we understand the importance of accessibility, the setup didn’t feel comfortable for us personally—features like the support bars around the sink, the adapted shower, and the bed placed close to the wall with only one nightstand made the space feel less inviting. Even though it was a standard booking, we didn’t anticipate this type of room and felt disappointed. After checking the reviews, it seems this has happened to other guests as well, so I share their opinions.

We arrived and went to our room which was clean and looked like it was last renovated in 1983. The decor was awful from top to bottom. The front desk staff-Tomasz immediately moved us to a 4th floor facing the mountain room which was more updated and very comfortable and clean. We had drinks at happy hour and the female bartenders were so friendly and quick. Although the hotel is in apparent need of some decor upgrades, the staff’s helpfulness and friendliness made up for that. As well as the great drinks and delicious full breakfast I recommend you adding to your stay (pastries, cereal, bacon, pancakes, eggs, coffee, and juice etc…). Also-check out is 12 pm! I would stay again and be sure to ask for an updated room.

A lovely hotel in a great location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had dinner at the bar and the burger was really tasty and good quality. I was very pleased with the service. I highly recommend this place.
