The 20 Best Sports Bars In Philly

"Going to a sports bar usually means seeing excited crowds of people who think the players can hear them through the TV as long as they yell loud enough. Founding Fathers in Grad Hospital, though, is a much quieter, more upscale version of a sports bar that’s good for when you’re watching the game with your in-laws or clients. They also have some solid bar food with things like blackened ahi tuna tacos and Korean fried wings." - candis mclean

The Best Sports Bars in Philly

"With 13 TVs at different angles, you're almost guaranteed a good view at Founding Fathers on South Street. The 20 taps here pour a rotating variety of craft beers and the kitchen puts out the likes of wings, fried pickles, cheesesteaks, and pizza. During college games, this place can get as raucous as any Philly sports bar." - Ernest Owens, Eater Staff

If you're in downtown Philly, you have to drop in. The food was great, and the service was exceptional. Must try the mozzarella sticks and pizza. The chicken corn chowder was very tasty. They have lots of TVs and tons of liquor options.

Google
Great sports bar with a lot of TVs (I’m surprised at how many sports bars don’t have enough)! The pretzels with beer cheese were pretty good - the pretzels were warm and buttery but the beer cheese was a bit too chunky. It got cold quickly so it clumped up. The chicken tenders and honey mustard were delicious. My friend also enjoyed their chicken sandwich, a lot of pesto on it! The bun to meat ratio was a bit off, too much bread.

Google
I love this place. A sports bar with great quality food. Friendly staff. My only complaint would be that it can get really loud at times. One of the best burgers around in my opinion.

Wow I was on my way to the Odunde Day festival when I decided to stop by this pretty nice place on the outside it was very pleasant atmosphere by the look of it. I grabbed a seat at the bar, where a woman by the name Sarah welcome me she was the bartender/waitress very nice person. I was very undecided about what to eat she was throwing some menu items around then came Rahul another worker in the restaurant. Rahul recommended the chicken tenders along with fries and Sarah also recommended a margarita to go with it. When I tell you the food was so delicious and the sauce that comes with the food they also recommended sauces for the side oh it was so delicious I recommend this place to any and everybody

Google
We really enjoyed the drinks, food and service. The bacon cheeseburger my husband had was juicy and flavorful. My short rib grilled cheese what tender and very tasty. We asked for garlic parm.fries on the side and they were a great compliment to our meal. We will definitely be back to try some more items from the menu.

Google
Nice sports bar. Lots of tv's and good, friendly service. We only had appetizers and drinks, but they were good.

Alex Nunez

Google
I sit down at the bar. Bartender notices me as there are only 3 other parties (two couples and a single person). Bartender continues to talk to a customer casually for about 10 minutes without greeting me. I’m close enough to hear the conversation and it’s not about service. Additionally, they are jumping from new conversation to new conversation. It honestly gave me racist vibes. Walked about before ever being considered to be greeted. A shame because I like to go there after my dentist appointment across the street.

Google
I visited Philly from the uk and visited founding fathers 3 times whilst I was there. The atmosphere was fantastic, wether to watch English football or to have a drink or 2 or even for a meal, the staff were extremely attentive, friendly and happy. This was my favourite bar of all that I visited and I will definitely be visiting again in the future

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing. Great little find in the area. Great service and environment.

Yelp
We came to watch the Penn State game. It was perfect! Since it was still brunch we started with espresso martini and Irish coffee.. Um wow that Irish coffee was strong! It'll definitely kick you into the tailgate mode. We had apps-- Parmesan garlic wings and cheesesteak eggrolls. We enjoyed everything!! Our server kept the Lost Coast beers coming and we had fun cheering on the Nittany Lions!
google avatar

Yelp
A bit overpriced. I live nearby and would love to stop by more often, but they charge $8.50 for a well drink. Nearby places charge 6$.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday for a spurs game. My husband being a die hard spurs fan was so happy to find their official club here. We got the whole family dressed up for the event including our daughter. Unfortunately we were ignored for over 20 minutes and felt very unwelcome. Everyone else was served but us. My husband had tried multiple times to flag someone dkwn and when we were finally acknowledged it sounded like we were almost a burden to them. It was so sad as we wanted to find a place to watch the spurs but this left a bad taste in our mouth. Nice decor for spurs but service was bad
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
Great service. Everything was a great maybe even better than the last time we came. Chicken Sandwich is still amazing. Shrimp tacos are so good but would get extra sauce on the side for dippings. Fries pickles were flaky but still had the crisp pickles bite. The sauce it came with we used for the fry dippings. Fries are a strong 7.6 Loud in here with the close space and all the TVs. Plus and a minus

Yelp
If you are looking for a fun sports bar in the heart of Philly- definitely check out this sports pub. They have a nice lively atmosphere with good service. The beer selection is diverse and the menu is typical Americana - a blend of classic appetizers, salads, pizzas, tacos, sandwiches and burgers. What stands out to me is their ability to provide sports events that would not be otherwise seen in a typical establishment. We asked if we could watch the Napoli Milan Futbol/soccer game and was greeted with a friendly "of course" and then 3 TVs across the room were transferred. Then, a friend of ours from Africa jokingly asked if we could get the Nigeria Cote d Ivoire match. And within a few mins we have that game on as well. A TRUE sports bars!

Yelp
don't care much for charlie but kyra is great also jack is awesome amazing appetizers i heard their chicken is fresh and locally sourced
google avatar

Yelp
Great greeting, ambiance, service and tv options. Really enjoyed the cheese steak spring rolls with spicy ketchup. Great sports bar with a lot of tv options and games playing.

Betty T.

Yelp
Good for watching sports but for big games you need to get here very early; hours early Service is pretty good Food was always decent for a sports bar It's gone downhill as of late As one example they used to have great pizza but must've changed their crust or switched to frozen because it's not good anymore I'd say it's more a 2.5 right now whereas it used to be a 3.5
google avatar

Yelp
We sat outside because it was a nice afternoon, our server was very nice and did his best but the food (fried chicken sandwich and buffalo chicken egg rolls) was inedible except for the fries, the fries were good. We each tried two bites and just had to stop eating even though we were both hungry. Go for drinks, for a place to sit outside, or to watch the multitude of TVs if you're inside but do not go for the food!
google avatar

Cornerstone L.

Yelp
Solid spot great wings, lots of televisions, always have the game on with a nice and very friendly staff. The prices are reasonable and I recommend to anyone who wants a chill viewing experience
google avatar

Ellen Y.

Yelp
So reliable. Long list of beers and other alcohol. Bartenders are attentive. Come for a game. Come hang with friends. Has never disappointed.
google avatar

Cookie W.

Yelp
Great spot for drinks to watch a game. Tons of TVs and wide seating area. Medium sized drink selection. Food typical expected pub fare
google avatar

Vin D.

Yelp
This place was a lot quieter than other sports bars I'd been to. No issue. They had the Steelers game on plus I was seated at a table so I could sit and have a nice meal in a civilized manner. The inside was huge and open and was adorned with flat screens, so perfect setting for the sports afficionado like myself. I ordered a black cherry beer, a garden salad, and fried pickles. Drink was very good. Salad was okay. Fried pickles were pretty good and probably my favorite. Five star rating is for my waitress who was astute and concerned enough to ask me if I was lactose intolerant, since I asked twice if any of my dishes had any cheese in them. Appreciate her being alert to that and also for being pleasant in catering to my needs. Certainly would like to come here again, especially when it's busier, to see what the fan vibe is like.

Yelp
I wandered into this bar while waiting for my husband to pick me up from work and stumbled upon happy hour!!! What a pleasant surprise! I was greeted by the bartender upon entry and provided with the happy hour menu. I chose the spiked blueberry lemonade. It was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and had fresh blueberries . After sitting for a while I ordered the Chipotle chicken nachos. There was a generous amount of chicken on eat chip which was covered in melted Monterey cheese. On the plate was Chipotle sour cream. I wish that I could say that I enjoyed these chips more than I did. I was hoping for more than chicken, cheese, and sour cream. They were lacking all of the deliciousness that comes in the mounds of toppings that I come to expect from nachos. The chicken was seasoned "okay" but appeared to be mixed with an interestingly flavored salsa. I probably wouldn't order the nachos again mostly just because of my own preference for additional toppings. I did ask for a flavored martini and the bartender was happy to attempt to create a martini of my choice. It was pretty good and I appreciated her attempt. Overall, I would definitely come back for happy hour for the drinks and kind staff. I would probably choose something different for a snack.

Yelp
Outside is in need of repair and sweeping up nasty cigarette butts...its dark and dirty..my feet are sticking to the floor..1st impression is def not good windows and revolving door are filthy...how ever service was good and food was ok...will we return..prob not
google avatar

Lily K.

Yelp
Sub par burger but chicken tenders are fantastic. Great spot to watch the Phillies or eagles

Megan S.

Yelp
The burger didn't appear to have any seasoning on it. It was overcooked and came with caramelized shallots, despite this not being advertised on the menu. Our server was incredibly indignant and rude to us. She seemingly went out of her way to bump into me on multiple occasions while delivering food and drinks.

Hernan V.

Yelp
Doesn't know between how a real ID looks like or fake one. Took a min for them to check out my friends id making a whole deal about it especially when the girl up front is from Jersey like we were. I find it hilarious that she expected my id to have the same piece of earrings in my id like I have to have the same piece of jewelry on whenever I present my ID. I could tell she wasn't the brightest. What a joke of a place.

Joshua M.

Yelp
Honestly probably ruined my night saying my ID was fake, going into a professional business I don't know how my real ID doesn't say my real age as the lady from the bar said she was 29 from new jersey, supposedly graduated from Rutgers, she stated my real ID is a "good one". Out of everyone I would expect her to know how a real new jersey license would look like but then again she probably don't know how a fake look like. Again if i could rate this place 0 stars it would be that, would've gave them business but i guess they weren't interested. It really ruined my Philly experience and would never come again!

Yelp
Great happy hour and actual home made food. This is more than just a sports bar. Terrific trivia and they have every single sport on their many televisions.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Absolutely will recommend. Went with a co worker for happy hour. Waitstaff was amazing and attentive. The food was delicious and the drinks were awesome. Although it was a little tight on space, I would 9/10 recommend.
google avatar

Bianca F.

Yelp
Vibes and drinks are great- but the food was extremely sub par. I'd grab snacks elsewhere and then head over here.

Colleen K.

Yelp
Decent bar, slow service but will not be coming back after being grossly overcharged last time I came here ($500 difference between the actual bill and what I was charged). Made numerous attempts to contact the bar to rectify the situation but was repeatedly ignored making me suspicious. If you decide to go in the future, be sure to take a picture of your receipt as unfortunately this seems necessary.
google avatar

Tashalee B.

Yelp
I came here to watch a game and try some of the food. The founding fathers wing i believe are a mixture of bbq and hot sauce. I really enjoyed. If you can try it then I think you should. The chicken Caesar salad is covered in dressing. If you like that kind of stuff... great... if your like me... less is more. The croutons were crunchy (there's nothing worse than a soft crouton). The service was good. The bathrooms were clean. There were plenty of tvs all over the bar and so much great energy all around. I think this is an excellent plane to go to for a game.
google avatar

Gnomer B.

Yelp
Food is fantastic, service was great. I'm glad there's a new restaurant in this spot!! I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Gabe R.

Yelp
Wish this place was better. Food is fine but is usually underseasoned and lacking in flavor. We came here on a warm summer night and were sweating so much throughout our meal as it seems like there wasn't any cool air running through the place. We wanted to stay to watch the college football game on a Saturday night but had to leave at halftime because of how uncomfortable we were. The waitstaff seemed to be inattentive and not looking to help us. At least the drinks were ok...

Yelp
Just went here for my 22nd birthday family dinner; while the experience was lack luster; waiting 30 minutes to be seated after our designated reservation time and waiter was barely at the table for drinks and water. With that being said the buffet was above average, and waiter brought out some deserts, for my birthday for me and my family. While I will most likely not go again, this place is definitely a little lower then your average place to eat. VERY CRAMPED! But nothing is EXTREMELY wrong.

Patricia H.

Yelp
Food was amazing,I had cheesesteak spring rolls, delicious, and I also loved the fried pickles. Everything came out hot and quickly, the other 3 people with me had other items and we were very pleased with everything. Server was friendly. Can't wait to return!
google avatar

Licie Y.

Yelp
Had a great time watching the game here. Service was great and the food was yummy if you're sitting outside you can ask for them to turn the TV right by the large windows!!
google avatar

Leann H.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for a beer and to watch a game and never really had any complaints. Last night was the first time I can remember getting food (although I believe I've ordered things before but can't remember) and ordered their special habanero island jerk wings (I can't remember the exact name of them) and I have to say that they were delicious! They were spicy but not too spicy and had a great flavor of coconut and pineapple. What a delicious combination! I also ordered the fries which came with a lovely chipotle dipping sauce. Both the wings and fries came out hot and the portions were appropriate for the price. They had a lot of discounted specials/smaller items on the menu for happy hour and quizzo, which is on Wednesdays at 8:30pm, which was nice because overall their regularly-priced items seemed a bit inflated. The beer selection is a little limited if you're an IPA fan, like I am, but they have a few solid options. Overall, I will be back. I'd like to try some of their other menu items and it's good to know that they have happy hour and quizzo specials. Also, this place has A LOT of tv's so it's great to go and watch a game (or 2 at the same time like we did).

Javika S.

Yelp
had a sign outside that said happy hour, ordered off happy hour menu, a minute before food arrives to us waitress let's us know that happy hour deals will not be occurring, manager states "i can't change the prices". along with that the nachos were 4 thin fried tortillas stacked on top of each other with minimal cheese or filling. pretzels were barely warm. if i were to ever go back I wouldn't order any of the food
google avatar

Brittany P.

Yelp
came the monday after christmas so it wasn't busy (hallelujah) split the chicken fingers and a chicken cheese steak, both of which were delicious.
google avatar

Jaime H.

Yelp
Lately has been my go to spot for Eagles games. There's constant specials going on for all Philly's games. More of a low key family friendly for the games and an awesome atmosphere. The bartenders are awesome and extremely chill. Chicken nachos are massive and delicious. Everything's reasonably priced. Get the FF burger you won't regret it. I think they're doing 22oz Miller lite drafts for the games now. It gets crowded the first 30 mins they're opened on Sundays so make sure to get there early.

John S.

Yelp
Great vibes and very friendly wait staff. I think 12 dollars is a little ridiculous for fried pickles but other than that everything was quality. Buffalo chicken pizza was a great balance of heat, sweet, and savory. I really like that they use fresh Bleu cheese crumble rather than some nasty Bleu cheese ranch sauce that a lot of restaurants these days use. The chicken on it was also freshly fried which was unbelievably tasty. Will be coming back

Sarah D.

Yelp
Delicious food and a fun environment to watch sports in. Fun outside seating area as well.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Stopped in to watch some Monday night football. I was visiting from out of town and my hotel recommended this place for watching a game. Good selection of beer and other adult beverages. While there I also ordered the appropriate football food. All was good. The bar tender was also excellent amusing and very customer oriented which made the visit even more fun and relaxing.
google avatar

Thu-Anh T.

Yelp
Not bad. Everything was just ok. Had the wings and fries. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. They have a lot of TVs, but they dont play any audio. So it's a good place if you don't want to hear any games. They just play music in the background. Makes it a bit less exciting.
google avatar

Hirschfield Lee H.

Yelp
You know, I am not a bar person. I do not go to sports bars. I often wonder what it's like to hook up with friends on the regular and be a constant presence at any one particular bar. I mean, my weekends are way to varied to spend any singular block of time in one confined space drinking and talking to other people and staring at a giant TV with no sound. I mean, I simply cannot hold a conversation and watch TV at the same time. I just cant do it. But I was going out with a friend before the conclusion of this year and I figured we could watch the SEC and Big 10 Football championship games. I Googled best sports bars in Philly and this one popped up in a short list of others. I perused the reviews and decided it would be sufficent. It just amazes me how willing folks are to stand around or sit packed like sardines in a confined space and eat mediocre food. This is par for the course for your average sports bar: big TVs, average food, loud disinterested conversation. But I was pleasantly surprised by Founding Fathers. We were immediately seated against the wall at a bar top. The bar is small and the spacing of tables non existent. The viewing angles are spot on. There are TVs all over the bar (14 I believe) and they are appropriately spaced accross the walls. I am guessing they were 42 inch TVs with excellent picture quality via satellite. I had the Victory Dirty Wolf Double IPA and my friend had the NYF root beer. I loved my beer but he said his tasted just like a root beer. Nothing special. The Brussels sprouts were more like Brussels flakes but the agrodolce sauce was super delicious and sweet with a hint of spicy. The lamb meatballs were good but I'm sure they were frozen. Nothing wildly spectacular about these little guys. The nacho plate was huge. Just too big. I understand it was a sharing plate but the presentation looked uninspiring and just thrown together. He took them to go for his girlfriend. The fried chicken sandwiches looked good on paper but in reality they were simply humongous and over fried. The skin was impossible to bite into. As far as the toppings. This sammie was trying to hard to do too many things. It was topped with cabbage slaw, red onions. lettuce. tomato, remoulade sauce and pickles. I sent this thing back and went with the 7 oz. Burger which was spectacular in every way. Perfectly char grilled, moist, thick and the brioche bun was soft and fresh. My second beer was a Great Lakes Fitzgetald Port.  Nothing here to see. Very watery. It was an interesting bar but to call it upscale is a push. No different than any other sports bar. Just a more tepid crowd and fancier interior. A nice visit nonetheless. Ohh and Bridget our server was super fantastic!!!

Genevia V.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a while now and always recommend this place to others and I've always had a great time. But one of their bartenders was extremely rude and she said ignorant and disgusting things to me after I accidentally spilled a drink and apologized for it the last time that I visited. Wont be coming here again.

Yelp
Holy mackerel! Vegan cheesesteak and probably my favorite vegan cheesesteak so far. What is Founding Fathers? Sports Bar? food mashup geniuses? food felons? First, do not go between 6:30 and 7 p.m. this the wishing half hour because everything's full price between happy hour and night time specials. Vegan Cheesesteak with seitan $14. It did come with fries but $14. The seitan looked like cheesesteak meat. The cheesesteak was very flavorful and most like a cheesesteak compared to my limited vegan cheesesteak experiences. They do have Cheesesteak egg rolls. The egg rolls were very good but $11. Personally I would like to see them switch the menu and have Vegan egg rolls and regular cheesesteaks, that's just me. Nice place, good conversation with the bartender and his friend at the bar. The friend left after finishing the drink he purchased during happy hour. Very good overall experience.

Yelp
Great sports bar with decently priced drinks and good appetizers! Good for large groups with friendly staff and great service. Got the nachos and will continue to go back.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch & was quite satisfied!!! Aubrey greeted us with a great attitude & a huge smile!! The restaurant was clean & Rudy. The atmosphere was great as well. Now...the food...AMAZING!!! The jerk chicken taquitos had just the right spiciness. They didn't leave me thirsty as hell. Lol. The sweet potato fries were cooked right as well. Had to bring the rest home because I couldn't even finish them all. Of course my margarita was on point too. I'll be back (in my terminator voice)

Michael S.

Yelp
First time I've ever felt the need to write a review. My original bartender was attentive, grabbed our drinks, checked in, etc. Left without closing out and were left with an inexperienced, young bartender who had no clue what she was doing. Unable to make a basic espresso martini (after attempting to test her), and after making eye contact several times for 10+ minutes, was unable to get a beer, after turning my glass over and leaving cash under it. While standing in front of me, recognized an empty glass, continued to dance and moved about her night. Attempted to close out and it took 10+ minutes until we decided to ask their manager to close us out so we could finally leave. Contemplated getting up and leaving because she probably wouldn't have even noticed. Rest of the staff was great, always love coming here especially for sporting events and games; tonight leaving extremely dissatisfied and wondering why someone with so little experience is able to leave making a good buck.

Yelp
Awesome place to watch a game. Big TVs all over the bar with a great food menu and beer selection. Went on a Sunday morning to watch Tottenham. Unfortunately they lost but it was a great vibe. The staff handled the large crowd with absolutely no problem. Some of the best service I have ever had in a crowded bar. Overall, just a great neighborhood bar. Will definitely become a go to spot for me.
google avatar

Richie H.

Yelp
Came here to watch an Eagles game. Good crowd, but it can get packed so come probably at least a half hour before kick-off. The fries are really good here. Got the fries that were loaded which cheese, oxtail beef, green peppers, and gravy. It was a little salty, but delicious and crispy. Ordered the Cooperstown burger (brisket/short rib combo) with cheese, lettuce and a bacon jam. The burger was cooked well and I devoured my meal. My wife got the salmon fillet and it was okay. Service was good and the food was pretty good for a bar. Would come back
google avatar

Shane R.

Yelp
Lots of TVS for any kind of hoops game you could want. Gets a pretty good college b-ball crowd. They have a decent draft list as well as a few good menu items. The French fries are pretty good.
google avatar

Marissa C.

Yelp
Came for drinks and to watch the game and it was packed. We ended up just standing behind people at the bar. I have to give the bartenders props because they were fantastic. Super attentive with the customers and quick on refills and requests. Really great bar service for such a busy day.

Danny B.

Yelp
Vibes and service were top tier. Won trivia by a landslide (tuesdays at 8pm). Chicken fingers were full of chicken. Can't ask for much more
