We recently visited, and while there were notable positive aspects to my visit, I regrettably encountered several issues that detracted from my overall experience.
The service was good. The waiter was very attentive and we did not have any auto tipping as others have mentioned.
While the Fountain Place restaurant does have a bathroom, a rarity in Salem, I'm not sure how it has passed a safety inspection. If you can get past the fact that it's downstairs with two areas to hit your head that do not have a warning, then you will wonder if there's a hole in the floor covered by a mat. I suspect there is because I'm not sure why else there is an oversized mat and I feel like I'm falling through the floor. It was also not clean, which made me wonder if the kitchen was clean.
The chicken sandwich was on special, but honestly looked like they used Shake-n-Bake to cook the chicken. It tasted as mediocre as it sounds. The french fries were good and the omelette was good. Overall, it was edible but felt overpriced. The portions were very large.
The place has so much potential, but l suspect that it's an old building. It's in a prominent location, but it seems like they just don't care. At the bare minimum, I think it could use a deep cleaning and maybe some organic ingredients. A little TLC would go a long way here. My visit was disappointing and I would not recommend.
