Had brunch at Four Ate Five in Surry Hills — the food was definitely tasty, beautifully presented, and the ingredients felt fresh. However, the portion sizes were quite small for the price. While the quality is there, it’s a bit hard to justify the cost when you leave still feeling a little hungry. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff were friendly, but overall it felt a bit overpriced for what you get. Probably worth it for a treat or a casual coffee, but not an everyday spot.

What a lifesaver! After a truly traumatic brunch experience at Paddock on Crown — where everything from service to food was a disaster — we stumbled into Four Ate Five, still hungry and honestly just hoping for something edible. What we got was a complete transformation. The moment we sat down, the warm service, attention to detail, and calm atmosphere made it feel like we had time-travelled from a forgotten back alley into the heart of a modern, world-class city. Every dish was a joy — fresh ingredients, thoughtfully prepared, beautifully plated, and most importantly: delicious. The turmeric latte was a standout (my absolute favourite!), vibrant and comforting without being overpowering. The salad bowl was colorful, flavorful, and full of texture — a real mood-lifter. Even the bread and shakshuka were top-notch. After the mess of a morning, this place genuinely healed my spirit. It reminded me that good food can absolutely turn your day around. So grateful to have ended up here — Four Ate Five, thank you for saving my day (and my faith in Sydney cafés)!

Great brunch! Lots of good quality brunch items on the menu, loved the coffee and the watermelon juice. The outdoor seating is perfect. A really good quality Sydney brunch.

Brunch here is wonderful. Great selections and the coffee is lovely. Would definitely come back to try all the other options

Google
Very nice! Classic “western” options (French toast, milkshakes) done really well as well as Middle Eastern choices that are really delicious. Went there Sunday around 10.30a, were able to squeeze into a small table to seat our party of 4 without any wait. Food was served pretty quickly. Coffee was decent. Everything was tasty - though I think for those with a sweet tooth, the French toast is a must try - it’s filled with a blueberry jam and the bread is done just right. The ham toastie is good - if you like hash browns, you’ll love this as it’s stufffed with hash filling. This is a great brunch choice - has something for everyone - recommend!

Very tasty and pleasant spot for breakfast. Lots of seating options and quick service. Both the golden latte and 485 breakfast plate were delicious.

I randomly stumbled upon this place on Google and decided to take my European girlfriend out to try it, and it did not disappoint. My friend absolutely loved the miso mushroom toast so much that she tried to recreate it back home haha, that’s how much she loved the flavors! My shakshuka was delicious and very tasty! Overall, this is a great spot for brunch. I’ll definitely come back to try other dishes!

Google
Amazing food, great coffee and topped off by really good and friendly service. I had the beetroot labneh on sourdough which was sooo if you’re looking for something light!

Yelp
We stayed around the corner from this spot and it quickly became our favorite morning place for coffee, breakfast and breakfast sweets to accompany our coffee. Plenty of seating inside and when the weather is nice, a handful of seats outside. The service is friendly and quick. They have bulletproof coffee on the menu which is what initially drew us in. We quickly became a fan of their daily flavoured cold brew coffee (types of beans changed daily). The carrot cake muffin was divine and paired perfectly with espresso. But the real star of the show was this breakfast dish (I can't remember the exact name) but it was yoghurt, chickpeas a chili glaze topped with slow roasted lamb and served with pita bread. Phenomenal, came back the next day to have it again. There are a lot of little cafes and coffee shops in Surrey Hills, this one is not to be missed.

Yelp
Cozy venue for a delicious brunch. The 485 Breakfast Plate included a tasting of lots of different types of food and spreads. It was really filling and tasty overall. The location is also great, right in the heart of Crown St. hustle and bustle. Tables are a bit close to each other and not the most comfortable, but otherwise a lovely cafe!

Yelp
Our cappuccinos were perfect. Then we had lamb baked eggs. They easily could feed two people. Braised lamb, eggplant, baked eggs, mint yogurt in a tomato base with all those flavors intermingling. We finished with banana bread. It came with a side of ricotta and honey. Couldn't ask for a better start to the day.

Yelp
Had to try this place after I saw it pop up on some "best of" lists. Ended up coming here twice in my two week trip to Sydney, and both times were fantastic. My boyfriend says the french toast was the best he'd ever had, and I really enjoyed my lamb shakshuka and avocado toast with beets. Doesn't seem like you can go wrong with anything on the menu! Both times we had an early breakfast so there was no wait, but this place appears to be very popular.

Yelp
I had heard great things about this place and word of mouth (and yelp) tend to be pretty reputable. Naturally, the people have spoken and they are correct - this place is tasty AF. I cannot speak to the decor or ambiance as we sat outside so my friend could keep his puppy close. I can say that despite a wait (to be expected), the staff were all really nice and friendly which is not always the case in Sydney sadly. We did have to wait quite a while for our order but I've also stopped letting that get to me in this city. Our food was delicious. I had the eggs Benny special and I just want it every day now! Trust the people - go here!

Yelp
Four ate Five is a brilliant early bird spot for breakfast in Surry Hills, I say early because you either come early for breakfast or wait for a late brunch in the queue that gathers just past 9am on a Saturday morning. This place isn't popular for no reason, the service is friendly but succinct in that they manage to collect orders and serve up with minimal delay but without leaving you feel like you're being hushed out for the next crowd, even if you're as indecisive over the menu as we were... So. Much. Good. Food. Eventually the four of us decided on ordering the 'Four ate Five' plate, a selection of humous, pickles, feta, egg and a few other bits with a giant fresh pretzel to tear up on the side, you can choose a bagel instead of the pretzel, but damn that pretzel looked good. There were American style pancakes covered with mascarpone and a berry compote which looked like they really should've been clouds, so light and so satisfying we almost couldn't finish them up.. but we did. Obviously. Then there was their version of Shakshuka, beautiful roasted tomato sauce with two soft baked eggs, feta and sliced almonds on top with a side of gluten free bread - so much savory satisfaction right here, hits home in all the right ways, yummy... Impressively I also managed to keep that bright red sauce off off my white skirt; that's because out was roasted down to a thick perfection. The Mexican came with two soft poached eggs, when poked these delicate little numbers drooled all over a bed of gently seasoned soft black beans, feta and coriander. This dish is a gentle Mexican wave, not a tequila shot, so well worth trying in the morning. Tea was great, I can't seem to buy a decent green tea bag here so tho enjoy a pot of sencha is wonderful, whilst Rach enjoyed her first cup of English tea since arrived almost a month ago.. happy happy happy.

Yelp
The good: Lively, cozy atmosphere in a small Crown Street location providing just the right amount of energy for a Sunday brunch. I had "The Mexican", which was a delicious mix of black beans, spices, poached eggs, and chorizo. My wife had a special pancake dish with ice cream and blueberries that was good, but bordered on dessert. And most importantly, one of the few places in Sydney with a decent cold-brewed coffee! The bad: The pancakes had a very bizarre texture, being a little thicker and denser than I'm accustomed to. Also, they need to time the food a little bit better. Our food came out with a side of cold toast that had clearly been sitting for at least 5 minutes. Plus, there were several minutes between the arrival of my coffee and my wife's tea. The bottom line: A solid option among many choices for brunch in Surry Hills. Definitely worth a 15 minute wait for a table, particularly for the cold-brewed coffee!

Yelp
I've known this cafe for years and I can't remember whether I've been here before. If I did it must have been years ago and I wasn't impressed. I decided to give it another go because my boyfriend is obsessed with French toasts. Fouratefive's French toasts made it to urban list top French toast in Sydney. So we went there around lunchtime. Luckily there weren't too busy and we got a table right away. Brownie point there but most likely it was the right time The coffee was good and the selection was quite interesting. A quick Yelp reviews showed me that wow this place has been rated quite highly despite what I remember. So we ordered the French toast obviously, creamed corn fregola, and rye bread toasts with avo. The French toast were really good. I love that they put caramelised banana slices on the inside and some mascarpone. Yums... The creamed corn fregola reminded me of Pinbone. It came with two poached eggs. Unfortunately the eggs were a little too done. I prefer pinbone's version but as there is Pinbone no more it was pretty good. I do recommend it. It came with a side of toasts... Carb on carb... A bit too much carb I'd say! They put this coriander and lime sauce on top and wow.. It was amazing! They also put it on the avo and it just lifted the avo taste up. If I wasn't impressed before I definitely am now. I will be back.

Yelp
The BEST BEST BEST I have to say this has been my favorite cafe in Sydney thus far! The staff are friendly attentive and helpful. The menu is next level think stuffed french toast and homemade burgers and salads that tempt even a carnivore! The FOOD - ah the food it was so good I have already planned when I can get there next to enjoy the beautiful flavours and freshness of the food. I had a banana honey cinnamon smoothie (amazing!) and the vegi burger which had lashes of avocado and hummus and red cabbage! The cafe's decor is fresh and clean with some booth seating and tables inside and out. Bonus: there are some happy life animal products on the menu including free range eggs and chicken!

Yelp
A little bit disappointed by this place because it was crowded with people which has lead to a lot of noise ! It was impossible to hear my friends. That's also because the food processor is in the cafe and a guy is constantly preparing smoothie next to the customers, making crazy noises! Despite the good food, I will not keep a good memory of the place.

Yelp
As a visitor to Sydney, this was my first dining experience and it was terrible. I mean it was a complete customer service nightmare. I've never felt so under valued by management and wait staff. How do you state value customer service, but spend so much time arguing and being combative with patrons. And then you have the audacity to talk crap about our party while we are still present. Understand, we are patrons to your place of business, and as such we are the people who are the very reason for your existence! Shame on you! It's unfortunate that management is so immature and unprofessional; slamming plates and gossiping about patrons. You are a sad reflection of what customer service means to Sydney, and more importantly, the value you place on those who patronize your establishment-especially tourists and first timers. Beware! The long line may infer a that a fabulous dinng experience awaits...it's all a charade. And for the record, your chicken sandwich looks more like chicken salad and its tasteless and very bland. The cappuccino was quite nice, but I'm told its just as good right across the way at Gnome. I would not recommend this place. Take your money where your business will be appreciated. Management doesn't give a crap about you here.

Yelp
The lovely service team made the visit very pleasant. Decent coffee and even more decent food. Had their signature 'The 485' Very clever use of pilpelchumma, interesting new flavours all round. The menu probably isn't for all. But if you're sick of your usual sammys or whatever, check it out! Something I noticed was this lunch left me really full but without the dreadful food coma!

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here on ANZAC day, even with the pouring rain. Service was pleasant as 4 of us were originally seated outside but they quickly moved us indoors when space freed up. Even with the pouring rain the queue outside was kind of ridiculous. Being a first timer I quite enjoyed the vibe/decor inside. Prices are typical for brunch, maybe a smidge higher than average. I ordered a flat white and salmon avocado with poached eggs, it was delicious. You can make your own brekkie here too and the hash (brown) brick is tasty as hell.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere is this cafe. In Surry Hills where one could quite literally drown in cafes, this one seems to have a vibe not seen in other cafes I have visited in the area. Not sure if it is the jazz music playing, the amazing mural on the wall, or the NY style tat caressed staf, but the energy here is enjoyable in itself. As for the coffee, they are using their own blend roasted through single origin, and it is not too shabby at all. The dbl mac I ordered came out exactly as requested which makes Fridley a happy boy. :-) That said, as this was my third dbl mac of the morning, I figured I would switch to freshly squeezed juice, which also resulted in happyness. The passionfruit seeds sunk at the bottom of the glass act like the jelly in an asian bubble tea, providing an awesome sour note to contrast the sweetness of the OJ and pineapple. *Thumbs up* If in the are this is certainly a cafe worth trying out. Cafe Summary ------------------------ Passion for Coffee - 8/10 Coffee beans - Fouratfive blend (Roasted by Single Origin) Crema (1=burnt, 10=velvet) - 9/10 Special coffees avail? - N/A Special Features ------------------------ Toilet Multiple power outlets primed for #powerwhoring desperados ... :-)

Yelp
Decent food, slow service on weekends! I came on a Sunday morning, admittedly a busy time for cafes. We waited about an hour for a table for 3 because one of my friends really wanted to try this place. I wouldn't normally wait that long for breakfast, and I definitely won't do it again at this cafe. Service wise, the staff were friendly. They did forget one of our breakfast orders which was a bummer - my friend basically sat there looking at food for about 15 mins before the hanger kicked in and we realised what had happened. I ordered poached eggs with sides like avocado, mushroom and salmon. I felt really satisfied afterwards as it's a really solid brekky, just the wait and slow service that was deal breaker. If you go on a less busy day, try the banana smoothie. It looked good.

Yelp
Which came first the address or the name? another chicken vs. the egg conversation but still very clever. Their street address is 485, that's a good enough reason to go. EGGS BENEDICT WITH SMOKED SALMON ON TOASTED CROISSANT $18 (with a rich hollandaise sauce) This was my kind of Eggs Benedict with la French touch. Just like Zizou is better than Beckham, the Croissant base wins over the traditional English Muffin any day. The poached eggs were perfect, egg yolk porn moment was there. The salmon is good. The hollandaise sauce rich but slightly acidic balanced out the richness of the egg yolk and rich croissant base. Very good. BLT $15 (served on organic sourdough w/ homemade aioli, avocado and fried eggs) Good sandwich but there are better ones out there for less. The bread was good but slightly too hard for a sandwich. There are quality ingredients in it but was lacking something, overall average. Conclusion Solid second choice cafe, limited seating and slightly out of the way if you do not live in the neighbourhood it's not worth the detour. The dishes are classic but executed well. Service is efficient and friendly. There was a queue on Saturday morning, good sign for any business. Of course finished the meal with brewnut (cronut) from Gnome across the street. @thesydneynoob

Yelp
Great little spot for brunch IN Surry! I ordered the salmon stack which was amazing. Love some double decker action. It was a big portion and really fresh. Service was good and the staff were friendly. Would definitely go back! Oh and the coffee was good too!

Yelp
First impressions make a huge difference between a 4 and 5 (pun intended). Unfortunately that's what decreased my rating here...when I walked in I was ignored for a while by the barista who wasn't busy, and I had to help myself to a booth. Fortunately the lovely waitress came from the kitchen and noticed pretty quickly that I haven't been served and promptly provided me with a bottle of water (big tick) and my coffee order. Phew! Other than that, its a great cafe with good strong Single Origin coffee the way I like it, comfortable seats and an open atmosphere. Both the coffee area at the front and the kitchen are clearly visible and its so relaxing here that I can sit here with my laptop and write this review lol. The gluten free yoghurt and plum tart tops off my experience. I think I will try the food next time, but as an afternoon coffee break its perfect. Hopefully next time it will a 5 not 4 :p

Yelp
In an area brimming with coffee vendors, this is hands-down my favourite café in the whole of Surry Hills. Unpretentious service, amazing soy lattes and seats aplenty are what keep me coming back, not to mention the great food on offer. I'll usually try to come in a bit before the lunch rush to grab one of the bench tables closer to the door - the one at the very front is the bomb for drawn out study sessions, complete with a power point underneath the table. They don't have wi-fi, but many an hour has been spent here on my laptop, lazily "writing essays" for uni whilst pondering what I'll next order from the kitchen. My fave for lunch is the pulled pork sandwich; a hearty mix of the slow cooked, shredded meat with strips of cucumber, rocket, aioli and savoury-sweet apple and tomato chutney. The café itself is pretty basic, just a glass-front long white room facing Crown Street. No doubt the constant queue for takeaways is testament to its quality and popularity.

Yelp
Bottom line: Wasn't impressed, but maybe I need to give it another try? People love this place, but either I ordered the wrong thing or everyone is a liar. There is always a crowd of people surrounding this place on Crown street awaiting a table. Be came in for lunch a little later in the day so we luckily didn't have to wait for a table. The staff is super friendly and lovely, but I was not all the impressed with my meal. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I don't like mayonnaise (I know...I know - I'm nuts), but I forgot to order it without mayo so I ate around the mayo smothered side of the bread. I guess my idea of a pulled pork sandwich is shredded pork, smothered in BBQ sauce, maybe some caramelized onions in there, all atop a delicious soft bun. This was not that. It was shredded pork, with lettuce and tomato. And it was dry. Really dry. I suppose they serve it with mayo to mask the dryness... McKay had the steak sandwich, which he liked just fine. I didn't try it because, of course, like most normal people, he ordered it with mayo.

Yelp
Chai Chai Chai, if you're into them, you'll love the brew here, it's deliciously spiced with a velvety texture. The great name is not the only thing which is pretty cool about this place - at 485, I got the spicy meatball on sourdough sandwich, which was beautifully made. The meatballs came with 4 cheeses, and were covered in a rich, home-made spicy tomato sauce, which didn't manage to soak the bread, somehow they managed to keep it crispy and saucy - don't know how? The vibe in here is quiet and humble, with some indoor and outdoor seating available. I sat at the front where you should be able to lean on the windowsill and peak onto the crown street traffic, although the window was closed, I got the people watching gist of things.

Yelp
I've fallen in love with polenta. And I think the best of Sydney's cafes, like fouratefive, are conspiring to fuel my addiction. The best thing? I haven't grown bored of it by overeating, but I get the feeling this could change quite quickly. The goats cheese & crispy polenta salad with baby spinach, beetroot, asparagus, spanish onion, rocket and toasted almonds ($16) jumped at me from the menu and as the crispy golden cubes of polenta arrived at my table, I knew I had made the right choice. There was competition though, and if it weren't for the overpowering nature of my new love then perhaps the decision would have been harder. Fruit spelt toast with preserves and ricotta ($6) was paraded before me as it was delivered to its table and the french toast stuffed with bananas and served with maple syrup, mascarpone and rhubarb ($14) admittedly engaged the drool sensors in the back of my mouth. Another tempter that's got me coming back for breakfast is your basic 'make your own breakfast', with eggs-any-way ($9) plus whatever extras you desire (charged individually), including smoked salmon, haloumi, beef chipolatas and potato & fennel hash. As a couple came and took the table next to me, the lady looked around with open eyes and an impressed nod of the head, "Wow, this is a really cool place". And I've got to agree with her. It's loud, with the sounds of the coffee machine and kitchen bells only just being drowned out by conversation and the bass of the speakers. If you're in to star-spotting then fouratefive is a great one for your autograph books, as I've never seen so many young Australian actors in the one non-theatrical space. The sandwiches and salads come in hearty proportions, and whilst it's a little expensive, you get your money's worth. Coffee's not bad (another Single Origin subscriber) and it caters to BYO beer & wine ($2 per head corkage). Fouratefive seems like a nice place to work, which in turn makes it a nice place to eat. The staff are constantly joking with each other, still managing to get the job done. Everyone's smiling - staff and customers alike.

Yelp
I like this place a lot. There are a few reasons why. I like big communal 'farmhouse' type wooden tables in Cafes. I really like friendly service and staff that are clearly happy to be there. I love excellent food Four Ate Five has all of these and it has a funky name too. It also has 'todays' newspaper available to read... a non negotiable must and possible deal breaker for me when I try a new cafe. What else can I say? Great little place with an interesting long shape and a humming kitchen at the back. I enjoyed spying the artwork on the walls. seemed to be original stuff and I get the feeling they change it quite often. I had a beef sandwich on rye (which i has specifically requested) and it was fantastic. I've always been a big fan of hot beef on rye NYC style and this came pretty close to the real thing. I demolished it. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
ThreeOuttaFive. Went to this place on the weekend (why did I wear thongs my feet were so cold!!!! Ahhhh sorry distracted!) as somewhere new to go. And it was pretty ok. And by that I mean it was nice. Food was nice. Coffee was nice. Atmosphere was nice. Staff were nice. You get the picture. It's kinda like your nice old aunt norrie who you love dearly and gives you that thoughtful but slightly useless pressie each year. "Thanks auntie norrie, it's nice...." Haha If you're looking for a place that ticks all the boxes and does a good job as your local this place is great. If you're looking more for a destination and something to rave to your friends about, maybe nice won't cut it. Probably would give it another go, especially cause it's had great reviews from fellow yelpers. Look forward to that day. As a side note - the name! Brilliance. Loved it!!!

Yelp
I 100% agree with James F the vibe to this place is brilliant. By the way, everyone should trust James' reviews, he always gets it right. The coffee here is really good, but the best part is the staff and the extremely casual feel of the cafe. The food here is good, and the service is relatively quick for this area.

Yelp
Seriously phenomenal breakfast spot. The coffee was amazing, the food was insanely good, and the waitress was really sweet and helpful. Also, it's totally instagrammable

Yelp
Came here for breakfast on a weekend with a friend -- it's not ridiculous priced and generous portions. Had a really good salad and I had a yummy sandwich. We stayed til closing and they even came by and gave us a muffin because they were leftover! At least you know your muffins are super fresh daily. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Food & drinks were good but not great. Place was bustling for a small scaled cafe but we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Comfy and casual place minus a star for the price vs taste.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place. I think I just ordered the wrong thing personally. I'm a savory breakfast/brunch girl so I went for the Mexican. It was just average but my friend and everyone else who recommended this place to me enjoyed it. I would definitely come back to try something else! Wait staff were super nice and we were seated right away surprisingly given how busy it was that morning. Liked this place and love the location! And you can split the bill *bless*

Yelp
I went there this morning for a birthday brunch for my close friend. We had been flicking through instagram for some good brunch places until we stumbled across the humble little fouratefive. we were already pretty sold then, just by the looks of the food on their instagram feed. We arrived and it did not disappoint - i got 'the mexican', my friends got the 'baked eggs' and the smoked salmon bagel w avocado. We also got the apple juice and the snickers milkshake on the side for drinks. Can I just say... not a single flaw. Cannot remember the last time where all my tastebuds were screaming YES! The service was also amazing and the staff were super friendly. 5/5 honestly. Thank you!

Yelp

Yelp
Tasty, healthy, outdoor seating is nice with good sun much of the time, you feel really good about yourself after a meal here. Really nice break from the day or start to the day for brunch. Slow service but you feel ok with that because it makes the experience last longer. Not good to go to if you have a hangover.

Yelp
This was the best breakky I had in Sydney by far. Better than Bills and everything was perfect. It's a tiny spot so you'll probably have to wait a bit for a table but it's definitely worth it. I had the french toast and added bacon on to it. Although I was skeptical about the addition the girl who brought out my food complimented the augmentation and I absolutely did not regret it after my first bite. Australian bacon in so much more thick and succulent than American bacon so I tried to have as much as possible during my trip. The french toast itself was great; melt in your mouth, buttery goodness. Great coffee and a laid-back vibe made this place somewhere I could have spent hours if I had more time.

Yelp
Excellent coffee, food, service and vibe. Definitely will go back when in the area.

Yelp
I had great service when I popped into fouratefive. I was instantly found a table, and everything went pretty smoothly. I was there for breakfast, so I chose the homemade cream corn with poached eggs & bacon. Tasty creamed corn, poached eggs that were still nice and gooey, and juice to wash it all down. The plate of food was generous, and it came out hot and stayed warm right till I'd finished. It's very disappointing when you get a hot breakfast but it's cold before you can finish. I was so tempted by the pastries in the window, but I restrained myself. I have to agree with Esther, I can't say I loved the pulled pork sandwich. The bread was so crispy it scratched my mouth a bit, and I wasn't blown away by the pulled pork. It kind of reminded me of the sun-dried tomato tuna you get in a can. Overall I loved the place, but I'll probably choose a different sandwich next time.

Yelp
This place was mediocre, just like any other cafe. Not sure the hype. Ordered the burger and it came out on toasted bread. They ran out of burger buns and assumed it would be okay to serve the burger on toasted bread instead of a burger bun without asking me. If I wanted a sandwich, I would have ordered one. Fries/chips were soggy. The food wait was all over place. I ordered a smoothie and tht took almost 20 min to come out. Too many other places to eat around, you dont need to wait.

Yelp
I knew 6 was afraid of 7, but now 4's doing it? Sheesh. This busy, open café is comfortable and cozy. It was raining so we stopped by for lunch after picking up a card at Paper2. We had a short wait and then we were seated across from the barista. Songs from the cracked screen iPod filled the air as we ordered our coffee. Scanning the menu we ordered a beef burger and a roast beef sandwich and the friendly waitress cheerfully made our changes (no aioli and beetroot on the side) and took our order to the kitchen. The food came out just a short while later (enough time for it to be cooked) and it was superb. The burger was tasty, not greasy, fresh condiments and the delicious hand cut chips were shared by both of us. The roast beef sandwich was hearty and enjoyable. The sourdough bread was a little hard since it was grilled, but over all it was quite good. Since it was still raining and we were quite settled in reading the paper and magazines we brought we decided to order coffee. The place had cleared out a bit so the barista took our order directly and when he finished it was excellent. Smooth, rich and a great way to end a good meal.

Yelp
Nepotism rules. As long as you're mates with someone that works there, you'll get seated in a timely fashion. Otherwise be prepared to witness much self congratulatory back slapping and hugging in front of your nose, as those that are connected skip the queue in which you patiently stand.

Yelp
Great place. Delicious and interesting food, good staff, laid back vibe. We had the Moroccan baked eggs which were truly excellent, and the french toast which was also a winner and not overly sweet like some places. Another great breakfast/brunch/lunch option on Crown St.

Yelp
Busy cafe, but food and customer service is lacking. All of the staff (including what appeared to be the manager) assumed I was a tourist but I actually live in Sydney. At one point when asking for a coffee recommendation, the waitress actually said "what do you want American coffee?". Just inappropriate for no reason. And unfortunately for them, they provided a highly negative experience that I will now share with all of my friends in the city. Bland food, rude (and I mean disrespectful waitr staff), and less than diplomatic when a customer calls them out on behaving like a high school clique rather than providing excellent service to a paying customer. The only silver lining in a horrible experience: the latte was pretty good. Never and I mean NEVER again.

Yelp
An adorable little cafe on crown street. Their brunch was excellent. I had a muesli with some fresh seasonal fruit and yoghurt. The service was great and the coffee delicious.

Yelp
Have been here 3 times in the past few months. Had to queue up both times but it was a relatively short wait (about 10 mins). The food here is amazing. I've tried many of the Surry Hills cafes and these guys are up there with the best in regards to food. Coffee, on the other hand, is where they fall short. If their coffee standards were as good as their food, I would be here every weekend. Instead, I eat here and grab coffee elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, their coffee isn't bad. It's just not that fantastic (there are much better options down the road). Having said that, I return for the food and highly recommend everyone give these guys a try.

Yelp
I define this place as pure chilled and elegant. Their coffees are made very professionally and I enjoy their Chai Lattes. They make it to perfection using fine coffee art. This secret technique attracts repeat customers and adds more value to the products of the business

Yelp
I am a local to this cafe and have never been disappointed. I'm quite shocked to hear some of these reviews because honestly I think this is one of the best cafes in Sydney. The food is always of the highest quality, the coffee delicious and the staff always friendly and attentive. If I ever have any relatives or friends from out of town this is the place I take them and I usually always recommend the French toast stuffed with banana and mascarpone and latte..can't get a more delicious breakfast than that!

Yelp
Always pretty busy, so you might have to wait for a table. It's a nice cafe in Surry Hills, with good service and the portions are generous. The coffee is really good too, if you're a coffee lover like I am make sure to try one. Took a friend here and we both had a nice time catching up - nice decor, very chill.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and located in a great area. I wish my stomach was big enough to try one of everything on the menu because my meal was great and everything everyone else in the restaurant looked amazing as well!

Yelp
Awesome sandwiches! Great coffee, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Also fabulous strawberry and rhubarb jam homemade by someone who work there's mum! Yes, I'm a fan.

Yelp
Good coffee, nice almond croissant. Get a table outside. Excellent place to go with a friend before you go shopping, to debrief about the weekends antics.

Yelp
Made the "journey" out to Surry Hills today from The Rocks for the first time after being here for a month. I knew I wanted to get brunch in Surry Hills, but knowing that there are a million and a half brunch places in the area I turned to the internet for help. Fouratefive had been listed as the top spot on numerous sites so I decided to try it out. From the second I stepped in the employees were so friendly and it had a great vibe. Even though it was a Sunday at peak brunch time, I was able to be seated within 10 minutes (granted, I was by myself, but still). I was debating between the eggs benedict and the pulled pork sandwich, but went with the eggs benedict. It was served quickly, tasted very fresh, was served on a toasted croissant, and was an overall enjoyable experience. At $16, it was a fairly reasonable price considering how popular the place is (and the pulled pork sandwich was only $13!). I'm definitely planning on coming back. It was a great first visit to Surry Hills!
