"Four Birds Darwin The laid-back vibe reflected in low stools and coffee tables (oh that's what they're for) not to mention a black cat that ventures in every once in a while is just one reason Darwinites love Four Birds. The other is the coffee, creamy and well-balanced. It can be enjoyed with a classic tart, an artful salad or on its own, preferably under the frangipani tree outside."

A lovely little cafe with outdoor and indoor tables, stools, and bench seating. The menu has a range of options to choose from, and its offerings are diverse. We highly recommend the Japanese pancake with mushrooms and the eggs benedict with ham. Both were absolutely delicious. The coffee is great! Cappuccino and piccolo. Actually, it was one of the best brunches we had in Darwin, if not the best! Our main server was friendly and remembering meals need to be cooked, it was quick service.

Was disappointed with my scrambled eggs and milkshake.Had been there once before and had best milkshake ever, but sadly second visit was served warm milk with minimal flavour and a third of drink was cream at top!...that's not a milkshake! The croissant was sadly lacking butter and very average. The smoothie was not bad.

We happened across this quaint cafe whilst exploring Darwin’s various arcades. In fact, this location is unique as it used to be the old, open air cinema. The butterscotch muffin was decadent and delicious and the special, four cheese toastie is worth the extra cholesterol on your arteries - yum!

Nice little Cafe in a tiny square with outdoor seating under a canopy of trees, a little oasis. A nice setting and good place to chill.

I’ve been to a few places around Darwin for coffee, and this is by far my favorite. The food was incredibly delicious. And I was really surprised by how good the salad dressing was. And that’s coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of vegetables. I wasn’t going to eat it, but it was that good I wanted to.  Not a bad menu selection, either.

Quality ingredients make the food here so good. Coffee excellent, and I’m a good coffee addict! Tucked away, not always busy but worth the search.

Located in the #StarVillageArcade. Friendly, romantic relaxing. Good coffee delicious cakes and sandwiches. The #nuttycoconutvegan slice is thick moist and sweet ($6.50) large coffee is creamy and bitter (not acidic) /not campos/- good menu range, managed by friendly welcoming staff. Located in the Smith street Mall. @fourbirds is a clean cool and great place to come play chess and a cup of coffee.

Yelp
Muffin was so old and dry we couldn't eat it, even the blob of frosting had solidified. It looked nice but instantly crumbled to pieces. I'd bet it was baked days ago; we tried to eat it but had to throw it away! The coffee mocha was decent, hot, and strong, service was friendly and fast, put don't eat here. Location is lovely, in the old Star theater complex.

Yelp
This little cafe has just started opening on Saturdays from 8am. I've been wanting to try out their coffee for ages and today I finally did! I ordered my usual flat white and was a little disappointed. There was so much froth. Too much froth. I did not enjoy the taste of my coffee at all. I didn't order any food so I'm not able to comment on that. The atmosphere is pleasant and has a quirky vibe which I quite like. There were only stools and low tables to sit at which I found a little uncomfortable and would have been awkward if I had food that required using cutlery. There was other seating across the path which were proper tables and chairs but they were not accessible. Probably blocked off for Saturdays? My friend ordered a latte and she also had a bit too much froth but she otherwise really enjoyed her beverage.

Yelp
Something quaint and original. The dishes were freshly made. Patience once the food is ordered is an essential ingredient. The energy bowl and the muesli worth the wait. Coffee was definitely one of the best in Darwin. Clearly the coffee and dishes prepared with care and passion. Banana bread and the raw balls were delicious. This was our second visit after the morning walk. Locating this cafe was a challenge but worthwhile the effort.

Yelp
This little cafe was an unexpected surprise to find, tucked in a courtyard off the Smith Street Mall. Seating is mostly outside, and the big tree and nearby awnings provide some shade. Some have already pointed out that the furniture looks trendy but is quite uncomfortable, but I think that's only if you're comparing to cushy upholstered or high-backed and armed chairs. The menu is pretty standard cafe fare, with breakfasty items such as toasted muesli with fruit and honey, or bagels and sourdough toast with hommus, avocado, cheese, eggs, amongst other toppings. There's also a selection of sweets to choose from if you're after a baked good to accompany an afternoon brew. Service is friendly and prompt, but like many a Darwin establishment, it would be much improved with table service. Ex-Bombay bottles of refrigerated water and a selection of magazines are a nice touch for the solo diners while they wait. I've eaten here a few times, and everything has been tasty if not a little too dependent on the stuff-on-bready-item formula. It's good to see that Four Birds now has eggs included on their menu, but I'd love to see a further expansion with more creative menu items in future. The coffee is Vittoria so I never expected it to be life-changing but it's not bad. Certainly not the best, but nowhere near the worst. They have a cold brew coffee available which I haven't tried yet, that seems promising for wet season. This is a neat little spot for a nice break from the office, or shopping, or working. I imagine that it would have its own posse of regulars who hang out nearby, as well as being popular for tourists staying in CBD hotels. I'd love to see what it's like here with table service, a tweaked menu, and possibly open for a Sunday brunch.

Yelp
Popped into 4 birds for lunch yesterday.. We found the staff to be very friendly. Menu prices were within range for a cafe. We sat indoors -as outside was quite bright. Comfy seating on cushioned lounge type seating, but a bit slippery after sitting for a while in the heat. The apple, carrot and ginger juice was absolutely delicious. However despite being given a glass with ice, I had to ask for a straw. My daughter enjoyed her iced tea (straw provided) We shared a Beetroot & walnut salad. A bit heavy on the Beetroot, and light on the walnut and feta. The home cooked Beetroot had a great flavour, but we had to leave some. Most of the food was ready to go, that is, while probably made fresh earlier in the day, it was kept in a refrigerated display cabinet. I think this was to be ready for the lunch time office crowd who were coming in regularly during the time we were there. As a result, the place was noisy and hotter than when we first arrived. Perhaps 4 birds will be better for a visit outside peak periods, as it became a little uncomfortably busy for us...the only 2 "eating in"

Yelp
Great little place in town, shady for spot for lunch. The coffee is Victoria so its quality is obvious no comment, food aim to be fresh made and heathy. Hidden germ away in the Arcade...definitely recommend and sure will be back for more!!!

Yelp
The location in a shady courtyard was really pleasant in early June, as were the people behind the counter. The coffee, on the other hand, is disappointing. Milky, lukewarm and weak. I'm not sure if there are better options in Darwin for coffee, however, it may be worth the search for an alternative, or give up caffeine for the duration of your visit.

Yelp
The customer service was not really that great and there is a barista there and at times some of the barista's there who makes the drinks always seems to be stressed up it is understandable but it seems like that they are only friendly to certain customers. Also what I want to stress is that I had noticed a lot of food and safety violations in that establishment as well, which would probably make the "Chef Gordon Ramsay" go there and do a proper examination on the whole establishment, if he ever decided to do a new Kitchen Nightmares series over here in Australia. The staff working there may be professional but never judge a book by its cover unless you have taken a good look inside its pages, what one would see would be pretty confronting. If anyone would care to take any notice of how they would handle and store the food, because it really is pretty appalling and if one looks carefully to the right hand side of the counter that is where they display their dessert pastries of muffins and brownies. It actually does seem pretty ironic when in a proper cafe one would realise that it is not proper food and safety practices. They take the cakes out of the cake container using their bare hand and wearing no plastic food safety gloves (who knows if that person doing that has even washed their hands!) That person was not even wearing gloves when they were putting the cupcakes and the chocolate brownies out there on the wooden platform on top of the counter and leaving them there all open and exposed. The general public has to go up to the counter to pay and who knows if any of the sweets would have ended up being touched with their bare hands and also the heat of the Northern Territory can be quite stifling as well and people do sweat if they are hot and what would happen if any of that person's sweat ends up being transferred across to them? When it is busy often it can easily be overlooked as to what is going on. If someone orders one of their desserts than it seems pretty hypocritical that one of the staff there would use the tongs to serve it into the plastic circular containers. Also because of the open entrance there would occasionally be flies and perhaps other insects that would fly in and land on top of them, also with the issue of coeliac disease and gluten intolerances and the fact that they do have some choices of those desserts which are gluten free then really it definitely is a big no, no not to keep them separate from the desserts which are not gluten free. The cross contamination of the different types of flours can be quite hazardous. One should be made aware that if they are going to be serving gluten free products that it should be kept totally separate from the products that contain gluten and it should be served using different tongs not using the same tongs and washing them on a regular basis and if they are going to be using gloves then it should be a new pair of gloves just to be on the safe side, [it makes one wonder as to how clean their kitchen really is]. Not only that the air conditioning of that place is only moderate and not that cool at all, it also is not that comfortable inside as well as outside and with the tables and chairs being so low, it can be quite a safety hazard especially if someone is quite tall or large and having to constantly bend over to eat the food with the cutlery must be pretty uncomfortable. The prices for their coffees are pretty average--similar to other places but it depends on the individual's preference and if whether or not they enjoy the coffee everyone's taste is different and if the barista making it is patient and accommodating then it can be a wonderful experience for everyone. It is common that there would be a customer who would be quite particular with how they would want their beverage to be made and if they are paying up to six dollars for it then it should be made exactly the way that person wants it. If the barista gets angry at the customer for being unsatisfied with how the drink got prepared than really that is not being hospitable and accommodating definitely it is understandable as to how stressful it is being a barista customers can be pretty difficult and they are not always right some can be very demanding, rude and so forth but so can the staff it is a two way thing and often it can be that people are not going to necessarily not get along with each other but there is that biased saying that "the customer is always right even though that is not the case at all". It is just simply about trying to please those who are paying for a service and if the staff working at the establishment at times would have failed in doing that then really it would end up leaving a bad reflection on the business. The prices for their meals are a bit over the top and are pretty bland but I am sure that there are people there who enjoy it but the ones who have had a horrible experience certainly would not be going back.

Yelp
One the best coffees in Darwin! The food is pretty predictable but always fresh and delicious
