The 11 Best Hotels in Switzerland to Book Now - AFAR

"Housed in a neoclassical building dating back to 1834, this central-city luxury hotel retains frescoes, high ceilings and crystal chandeliers while offering modern, Pierre-Yves Rochon–designed rooms and suites with views of Mont Blanc, Lake Geneva and L’île Rousseau. The three-level Mont Blanc spa features a rooftop infinity pool, saunas and hammams clad in white Marmara marble and aged oak, and offers advanced treatments such as micropuncture mesotherapy, probiotic facials and champagne-grape-seed scrubs. Dining options include a Nikkei restaurant and a Michelin-starred Italian venue serving specialties like spaghetti alla chitarra and cacio e pepe–style dishes." - Adam H. Graham

The Best Hotels in Geneva, Switzerland (2024) | Condé Nast Traveler

"Hôtel des Bergues is Geneva’s very first hotel, built in 1834 along the waterfront and transformed into a Four Seasons in 2005. The rooms are wonderfully opulent in a loosely neo-classical, Louis Philippe–inflected style, with lots of brocade and toile de Jouy in shades of Wedgwood blue and almond green. If that’s not your style, reserve one of the Loft Suites on the sixth floor that embrace a ‘contemporary Swiss chalet’ aesthetic. The lively Michelin-starred Il Lago restaurant sits on the ground floor while Japanese restaurant Izumi serves delicious sushi alfresco on the trendy rooftop. Last but certainly not least, the top floor’s Asian-inspired Spa Mont Blanc is one of the big draws for the hotel, which covers two floors and includes a decent-sized pool."

Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva

"It’s hard to imagine a more natural fit than Four Seasons and Geneva, which is why the Canadian chain’s renovation of the celebrated Hotel des Bergues on the banks of the Rhone just across Lac Leman from the Old Town and the Financial District is such an admirable kid-glove performance. Four Seasons knows exactly what the high-flying international exec needs to feel not only pampered but, just as importantly, empowered when on the road—charmingly bashful service that disguises a brass-tack attention to detail, go for broke convenience, a great location, a first-rate restaurant on the premises, and a top-drawer fitness facilities. The Hotel des Bergues, an old world charmer that was built in 1834, now offers all of the above, plus LCD flat-screen televisions with DVD players, in 103 rooms and suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and a quietly elegant Anglo-Franco townhouse decor—think almond green, Wedgewood blue, and terra cotta color schemes and toile de Jouy motifs—by Paris decorator Pierre Yves Rochon. Large well-lit marble bathrooms have double sinks, both baths and showers and swanky Aqua di Parma toiletries, and the small fifth-floor fitness center is open twenty-four hours a day. Il Lago, the stylish Italian reference has a terrific wine list and excellent food that offers a welcome alternative to the polite French cooking that defines dining here. The impeccable efficiency of this hotel happily stops short of creating a deadeningly corporate atmosphere, however, which is why it’s a perfect place to camp out before or after a ski-holiday in the surrounding Alps."

Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues (Geneva, Switzerland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Hotel des Bergues stood here on the shores of Lake Geneva back when the Four Seasons was still just a suite by Vivaldi — it was literally the first hotel in Geneva, and even now it’s still, by many lights, the top luxury lodging in town. Even-keeled traditional luxury hospitality is the name of the game here, and that’s exactly what Four Seasons does best." - Tablet Hotels

The service at the bar was excellent! I have had the best martini cocktail ever (have travelled all around the globe and had tried it in Mandarin Oriental NY, London and in Paris several places). Nicolas, at the bar, is a magician of the cocktails! The only downside was the profiterol, whereas the other orders we have had were of high quality and taste. They have changed the profiterol and new version was not pleasant to eat; was quite rigid in the taste due to hard cookies. I kindly reco to change it back to previous version. Overall kudos to FS Geneva, always top nudge and great hospitality ❤️

First I’ll just say that the four seasons brand never disappoints. The moment you step out of the car the guys who receive you at the door are so welcoming, helpful and kind. The hotel decor is classical European style which is truly stunning. My room looked newly renovated with a baby blue theme. Probably my only complaint is that my room felt somewhat cramped considering what you are paying… but I guess that’s European hotel rooms for you. But everyday the housekeeping used to come to my room I always used to come back to sweet baked treats in the room… so the service is top notch. The spa was lovely. All the amenities were there for you once you come out of the steam room, shower or even a treatment. Maria who was in the spa was also incredibly kind. While I was staying here the hotel was undergoing some major renovations but somehow it wasn’t too noisy where it disturbed me. Nonetheless it was a very relaxing getaway to Geneva and staying in this property definitely made my experience super pleasant.

An Unforgettable Experience at Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, Geneva My stay at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva was truly amazing from start to finish. The hotel perfectly combines timeless elegance with modern luxury, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined and welcoming. An unforgettable stay at Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva I had an amazing experience at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. From the moment I arrived, everything felt easy, smooth, and genuinely welcoming. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel comfortable, yet fully aware that you’re somewhere truly special. The staff really make the difference. Every interaction was warm, natural, and thoughtful. Nothing felt scripted or overly formal — just sincere hospitality at a very high level. They are attentive without being intrusive and always ready to help, which makes the entire stay feel relaxed and personal. The hotel itself is beautiful and extremely comfortable. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and impeccably maintained, with excellent bedding and all the little details that make you feel at home while still enjoying true luxury. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is calm, elegant, and inviting. The restaurants are excellent, and dining was a real highlight of my stay. A special mention for Izumi, which was outstanding. The food was refined and flavorful, the setting lovely, and the service impeccable yet natural. It’s the kind of restaurant you remember long after you leave and would happily return to even if you weren’t staying at the hotel. The location is perfect, right by the lake and close to everything Geneva has to offer, while still feeling peaceful and exclusive. This hotel definitely ranks among my favorite Four Seasons properties, alongside George V and Landaa Giraavaru. They all share the same consistency, attention to detail, and genuine sense of care for guests. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional stay in Geneva.

If you've ever craved real five star luxury, this is the place for you. Wonderful location, extraordinary staff, beautiful meeting rooms and cafés, restaurants and entrance hall. Obviously the prices are beyond most purses but if you want to treat yourself, for one night, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Google
Central location, exceptional service, and a historic building with a modern interior design! The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues is located directly on the lake. When arriving by car, one must briefly enter a restricted-traffic zone to drive up to the hotel entrance. Valet service is provided and is both very quick and highly reliable. The reception and concierge area is slightly separated from the main hotel lobby, but beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and in keeping with the Four Seasons brand, featuring four artworks representing the seasons. The property offers the classic Bar des Bergues, an Italian restaurant, and a Japanese rooftop restaurant. The historic building has been meticulously renovated, with guest rooms and the spa offering a refined, modern interior. Guests have access to three elevators located in two different parts of the hotel. The spa, pool, and fitness facilities are located on the top floor, with abundant natural light and magnificent views. Special features include: In-room hammam functionality within the shower. Two separate steam rooms in the spa, each with different temperatures. Breakfast available both as buffet and à la carte. What makes this hotel stand out within the Four Seasons group? All amenities and products carry the distinctive Four Seasons des Bergues logo or design. The valet team and doormen are exceptionally kind, attentive, and proactive—creating a memorable first impression and making every return to the hotel a true pleasure. Housekeeping service is outstanding, arguably among the very best across the Four Seasons portfolio. Rooms are prepared with remarkable attention to detail, and each day small gifts are provided, adding thoughtful touches that enhance the stay. The hotel offers a tranquil environment, with rooms featuring balconies facing the inner courtyard as well as accommodations with views of Mont Blanc.

Google
I had a very disappointing experience today. I initially came in just to enjoy a cup of coffee and was directed to either their restaurant or the lobby area. I chose the restaurant, but unfortunately, I was kept waiting for an extended time. Despite seeing empty tables available, I was told they were reserved, yet when I asked to reserve one myself, I was informed reservations weren’t allowed. Eventually, I moved to the lobby, where I waited quite a while just to receive a menu. After finally getting it, we had to repeatedly call for someone to take our order, and we were ignored while others who arrived later were served first. We ended up leaving because no one seemed to care about our presence or service. In short, it was a really frustrating and unprofessional experience that I wouldn’t expect from a hotel like the four seasons. I hope they improve their service.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor atmosphere EXCEPT for the cloud of cigarette smoke floating through the air. We had a quick snack and a glass of refreshing, fresh made pineapple juice.

Yelp
Very nice drink selection and nice bar. However- service is terrible. You have to constantly flag down the server to get another drink. We have now been waiting 20 minutes for our check and will be late for dinner because we cant pay for our drinks. Two waiters have now completely ignored us when we requested the check. Hardly service for a five star hotel. Not sure if they are being rude because we are Americans but we will not be back.

Yelp
Awful typical "French" arrogant service at one of our favorite US hotels. If you want anything special or not on the menu forget it. You may get it but only after what feels like begging. On our second visit we wanted breakfast, called to reserve and were told service was until 10:30. We hustled over at 10 from the ritz a block away to find they only accept hotel guests. This is understandable when a place is packed, but there were many empty tables and we were the only 2 waiting. I am shocked because as a world traveller having stayed many times at the four seasons, Ritz and others and I've never been "turned away" or treated disrespectfully. If you are unfortunately a business traveller go ahead and enjoy what you've got, but if you have a choice, stay away from the Four seasons in Geneva. And if any management ends up reading this, which is highly doubtful, my recommendation is you learn to "make exceptions" as part of your service training unless that would be just way too far out of your league or you just can't get over your ridged snobby selves. Oh and remember, after the pandemic, tourism will come back slowly.....you will finally NEED your clientele as it should be, and they will have choices... as tourism and hospitality is already desperate. And one more thing. Wouldn't it have been better for business to just offer 2 people a table for breakfast? Wake up.

Yelp
Imagine the most luxurious experience at a hotel and spa and then magnify it many times over and you've got the Four Seasons des Bergues and their Spa Mont Blanc. Traveling can get weary with the long flights, train rides, and layovers in cramped quarters and having to lug your luggage to and fro. When it takes it's toll that's when you need a place like the Spa Mont Blanc in the Four Seasons to pamper you at the highest level. I have to commend Cecilia Kearley as she was the most incredible manager I've ever come across. She is a wealth of information and can detail every nuance of the spa. You come to appreciate just the level of intricate detail that went into making sure the spa experience is unique and exceptional. For example, the amount of natural lighting that pours into every corner of the spa is the genius of hotel owner to make sure you get all of Switzerland's natural beauty while you soak up the finest rejuvenation treatments in Europe. I've been in damp and dark spas before but being able to have glowing sunlight just feels so much better! Again, can't say enough about Cecilia, she is such genuinely kind person and wants to make sure you feel like the most important person in their spa. The fitness area was beautiful. I'm a gym rat so every time I travel I am always curious to check out each the gyms of each country/city/hotel and I thought as far as fitness areas for spas go, the Mont Blanc has the most high-tech and state of the art equipment. Plus, when you've worked up a sweat and need to replenish, the fitness area is completely stocked with Evian waters, sport drinks, and there are even the spa's own home-made signature energy bars. They were delicious! A blend of banana, dry grape, and apricot with a coconut topping. The best post-workout snack. After a strengthening workout, you'll want to move on over to their pool area which is just beautifully serene and the combination of elegant marble and natural lighting makes for an aquatic haven. The fireplace library is gorgeous and boasts a collection of over 5,000 different books that feature a wide swath of genres including art, music, history, film, and more. The Izumi Japanese fusion restaurant is spectacular. You can dine on the rooftop for a 360 degree panoramic view of Geneva. Or, you can dine in the library which is the perfect place for a power business lunch or just a casual get-together. There is a studio for your own personal stylist to groom you so that you're ready to soak in all of Switzerland. The salon is completely private so you get the comfort of having your stylist precisely cater to all your glamour needs. Of course there are the various spa treatments available including a couple's massage that has it's own secluded deluxe spa suite complete with it's own bathroom. That way you and your partner can have a portion of this 5-star spa all to yourself. With a hotel and spa as brilliant as the Four Seasons and Spa Mont Blanc, I can see why Switzerland was rated the world's happiest country. For a truly unforgettable, exquisite, revitalizing experience, you'll want to visit the Four Seasons. It is warm and inviting and yet secluded all at the same time. It is the best of the best and other spas will have a difficult time ever matching the level of excellence at the Mont Blanc. I never wanted to leave, but I will definitely be back!

Yelp
As you walk in you see a screen that shows you the various celebrities that has dined here.. Daniel Craig one if them. I'm in! Not that I'm star-struck but that would just have made the views even more spectacular. I took the suggestions for my dinner (Halibut) and appetizers (Prawns) from our delightful sever. She was spot on! This is a must go to Resturant!

Yelp
All the normal quality features of a Four Seasons property. The staff are slightly arrogant and that becomes annoying after a while. For example, we would like to be greeted by name after staying the in hotel for a week - not have to tell our room number all the time and wait whils a receptionist checks her pc/ it was the same in the breakfast room - that was odd ....... maybe a bout of invasion of the body snatchers has occuered in central Geneva!

Yelp
It's a four seasons what can I say more. Beautiful rooms had upgrade to a big roomy suite, beds are big and comfy, staff take care of you from the time you book until you checkout. Best service ,amazing spa. I think it's worth every cent you spend.

Yelp
My favorite thing about the hotel is the toiletries. Those Aqcua di Parma products are fire. I wish I took more.
