"From our overwater bungalow, mornings began with crystal-clear turquoise water at our private swimming platform and a close-up view of Mount Otemanu; five nights here felt both pampering and unhurried. The property is the only hotel on its barrier island and runs shuttle boats to the main island for a quick spin through local shops and restaurants, but the real draw is staying put: spacious thatched-roof bungalows with wide-plank hardwood floors, local artwork, clean-lined, modern decor, and private decks with direct lagoon access, plus beachfront villas with private gardens and infinity-edge pools for those who prefer land. We filled our days with jet-skiing, snorkeling, and swimming with sharks and stingrays—guided by locals who taught us how to respect the environment and shared their pride in Bora Bora—and still found time for two little barres at our bungalow that didn't feel like work. Views of Mount Otemanu frame everything like an iconic skyscraper, the overwater bungalows are iconic enough to be the background of the Four Seasons app, and the shark swim at the edge of the reef truly felt like a must-do, once-in-a-lifetime experience we were already talking about repeating." - Matt Ortile

"Warm, seamless service anchors a stay that includes a private lagoon and nature reserve for snorkeling, gorgeous grounds with both activities and hideaways, must‑book couples’ treatments in overwater spa suites, and private romantic dinners on the property’s tiny motu island—no wonder it draws stars like Justin Theroux, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Aniston." - Shelby Wax
"A classic, upscale property offering overwater bungalows with and without private plunge pools and special Beachfront Villa Estates that feature private infinity-edge pools stretching over the crystalline waters and gardens; many rooms afford views of Mount Otemanu in the distance." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. "A classic overwater-bungalow resort offering ultra-private stays and some of the best service in French Polynesia, with 108 overwater bungalows (27 with private pools) and lavish options such as an overwater bungalow suite with a private plunge pool and sweeping views of both the lagoon and Mount Otemanu. The design draws on traditional Polynesian village motifs to feel perfectly at home in the South Pacific waters." - Jennifer Flowers
