I had an unpleasant experience this evening at the self-checkout area of Four Square in Queenstown, which left me with a negative impression of the store. We picked up a small piece of garlic (about 35 grams, priced at 2.35 NZD) and were surprised at how expensive it was. We asked how to remove the item, and a female staff member came over. Unfortunately, she responded with a cold and unfriendly attitude, saying only one sentence: “You want to remove this?”—then completed the process in silence.
Later, when I realized I had forgotten to collect the receipt, I returned to ask for it. Once again, her demeanor was unwelcoming—no eye contact, no response, and not a single word, even when I thanked her.
Overall, the customer service was extremely poor. Her behavior made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It’s disappointing to have such an experience in what is otherwise a beautiful town. The store should seriously consider improving its customer service by fostering a more respectful and friendly environment.
