We were in downtown Highlands on a cold, drizzly, January day. There wasn't much to do so we decided to do some shopping. The men in our group really wanted to watch football and a local shop owner recommended Four65 Woodfire Bistro Bar because it had good food and a bar where the guys could watch football while the women shopped. (The plan was for everyone to meet up after a few hours and have lunch together.)
The place is decorated in a really cute way with a beautiful bar, quaint tables, and lovely lighting accents. The menu features a selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and wood-fired pizzas. There was also a full bar and a really friendly bartender. My husband ordered a soup/sandwich combo with the wood-fired root vegetable soup and a cast-iron hot Italian sandwich. He thought the soup was spicy and delicious and the sandwich was good with fresh bread that was chewy, yet crispy on the outside . My daughter had the small Cherrywood Farm Greek salad. She said it was just o.k., kind of boring.
I ordered the Mountain Fungi pizza. I really, really loved the crust! There were lots of yummy mushrooms, and the pizza was also topped with arugula. I really enjoyed it and it was definitely big enough for 2. My mom and my sister ordered the Bacon and Brussel Sprouts pizza and the garlic breadsticks. Their pizza was drizzled with aioli and the bacon was more like a thinly sliced ham, (pancetta.). It was good, but none of us really loved it....it was definitely unique with strange ingredient pairing so we had to give it a try. The breadsticks were delicious! The dough had the same flavor as the pizza crust and it came with a marinara sauce for dipping. Everyone loved it!
Overall we enjoyed hanging out at Four65. The service was very good and the ambience was amazing! We liked most of our food selections, and there are plenty more options on the menu for us to try next time. (And we're definitely getting the breadsticks again!)
