Fowles Wine

We had a lovely visit to Fowles Winery today. A great little find just up the Hume. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, very spacious with nice views of the gardens. Staff are very attentive and service was perfect. We had a glass of both red and white wine with our lunch but will definitely visit again for some wine tasting and bring our family and friends along. The only feedback would be that I tried to phone (3 attempts) ahead of time to confirm if they were open (being the holiday season) and nobody answered the phone. Thankfully our drive ended up being a beautiful afternoon 😊 Thanks for having us

I recently hosted my baby shower at the winery, and everything was absolutely perfect! The event ran smoothly, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. The team was incredibly helpful and made sure I didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day. My family and friends were all so impressed with the food and the overall experience. I couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough!

My wife and I have been here several times before, but not for the last few years. Love pretty much all their wines. Today we were served my Madi. A wonderful young lady . Had a few works with Patrick (the manager) too. Both are great people to deal with. The food here was really, really good. By far the best winery restaurant we have encountered over the last three days.. already booked in to have lunch again tomorrow. Zucchini chips and pulled pork tacos 🌮 are amazing as is the attentive service.

What a delightful surprise to discover such a beautifully appointed winery and restaurant tucked away in Avenel. We were fortunate to visit on a quiet Monday afternoon, and despite the stress of the bushfires that have threatened or destroyed nearby properties, we were greeted by friendly, hopeful, positive and highly knowledgeable staff who made us feel immediately welcome. The food was nothing short of exceptional—delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully crafted with high-quality ingredients. The menu offers a wonderful range of dietary options, ensuring everyone can enjoy the experience. But the real revelation was the wine. As someone who has previously worked in the wine industry, I was genuinely amazed by the floral and robust nose and depth of flavour in Fowles' wines. Each glass was a discovery, showcasing layers of complexity that truely exceeded all expectations. The venue itself is stunning and creatively considered. We were captivated by the sophistication and country-class elegance that flows through each room. Every detail has been carefully considered, creating an atmosphere that feels both refined, modern and relaxed. I highly recommend taking the time to thoroughly explore this winery and immerse yourself in the exceptional level of hospitality and wines provided. We will definitely make the trek back down to Fowles for another special occasion—it's worth every kilometer. Top tip: Bookings are essential, especially on weekends. Dogs are welcome in their designated outdoor dinning area. Our thoughts and prayers are with the owners, who has reportably lost their family home and a majority of vineyards in the current devastating Longford bushfires.

Nice ambiance with seating near the window facing the well manicured gardens recommended. There is a children's menu with various options, however we found the chicken a bit dry and needed more seasoning. The main course size is reasonable. Dessert options were lovely.

Wanted to thank you all, but especially our host Gareth, for a great afternoon in the private dining room today. Amazing food and service. The braised Lamb was Devine, and Gareth’s service was spot on. A beautiful location laid out with amazing style and taste.

Stunning lunch and beautiful wine with an idyllic backdrop of rural surrounds. The staff in this lovely winery make the experience exceptional. Thank you to Lulu and Sibel who showed their love of what they do in every aspect of our visit. The indulgent experience of the beautiful wine and food at this vineyard were elevated by the wonderful staff who clearly take pride the work they do.

Wonderful, friendly service in all areas. Delicious lunch with fresh foods, a glass of my favourite sparkling Moscato, a taste of the Chardonnay while seated at table. Beautiful ambience, clean, tidy, stunningly decorated and with the view to inspire. lovely shop and fabulous wine tasting area as well as inside and outside dining. My feedback is 100% worth going for foodies and of course wine lovers.

Truly a hidden gem. In Avenel Victoria We hadn't been here since Mother's Day last year so almost 18 months ago. I've always liked Fowles winery the food is good and the wine is very nice. When we got to the the car park it was packed and I thought that we wouldn't get a table as I hadn't booked. Much to our surprise once inside the entrance, they had renovated and there was a huge new dinning area and the wine tasting is now more spacious with lots of wine and country fare to tempt you. The new look was industrial yet country feel with rustic decor. Any way we thought we would just stop for a wine and some share platters that we've had before as there very nice. Once we sat down and got the menu and I saw the meals come out we quickly changed our minds. We got starters. Crumbed fennel and a tomato and goat cheese dish. The fennel was surprisingly good and the tomato and goat's cheese was like lasagna with out the pasta. It was very good. We ordered a bottle of red (stone dwellers Cab Sav) and our mains came out. I got the eye fillet. It was nice and thick, well cooked and a piece of caramelized onion herb butter on top. The steak was tender and heavenly to eat. Accompanied by some roaster potatoes and greens it was delicious. My partner got the lamb and white bean purée roast veggies and harissa. Which she enjoyed very much. But I gave her a piece of my steak and she was envious. As I had to drive I had a coffee and we thought we'd finish with the tasting plate from the dessert menu which included four small deserts on a plate. They were all nice but my pick of them was the lemon tart it was amazing. Slightly sour and a smooth filling and a crunchy biscuit base. I love the look of the new design and the food is a definite winner. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. We will be back for sure.

The best wine tasting we have ever had! Michelle was super knowledgeable and knew answers to all our questions about wine. Great selection of wine, many varieties, i personally like the sparkling the most, and shiraz "ladies who shoot their lunch" was fantastic. Our experience was superb, definitely highly recommend!

Stopped here on the way back to Sydney from Melbourne...definitely a step up from Macca's! Unfortunately, while most mains are in the $30 range, both my barramundi and my partner's chicken were so plain and tasteless the only differential was their texture. When we realized my tomato relish was the only thing with flavor, there was a race as to who could claim the most off my plate. I would have given them a second chance with dessert, as they do have quite a spread, but my partner was over it so we hit the road instead. Three stars because the farm to table extra dry white wine I had was quite nice. I'd come back for a tasting, but given that I could personally have cooked better for $64, I would not be back for lunch.

Ordered a linguine with prawns, zucchini, dill, tomato, and garlic. Never knew linguine was of a spaghetti pasta....? Had to request for the parmesan cheese. Taste - 5/10 Quantity - 5/10 Value - 4/10 Overall - 4/10. A group of 11 guests (!) who were not impressed. Not just me.

The food and service is fantastic. My wife and I were lucky enough to get married here and the staff could not do enough to help. Everything was seamless. What ever we needed they were onto it. We were lucky enough to receive wonderful feedback from our friends on how wonderful the whole day was. Ian the manager and Sam head of events transformed the court yard into such a special area it was all we could have asked for. This is not only a perfect location to grab breakfast or lunch but a superb location for a function. Did I mention how friendly the staff are!

Stopped on way from Melbourne to Albury and loved everything about it! We are going to make it a tradition. Great Food, excellent wine and lovely service.
