Fox Harb’r Resort Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Fittingly located in Fox Harbour, Nova Scotia, I found Fox Harb’r Resort to be a secret waiting to be told, sitting on 1,100 acres along the Northumberland Strait and managing to feel both vast and surprisingly intimate. Equal parts championship-golf getaway and luxury retreat, it offers sweeping Atlantic views, cozy yet varied accommodations across 88 ocean-view rooms (from Executive Suites with king bedrooms, adjoining staterooms with fireplaces, and bathrooms with therapeutic tubs and walk-in showers, to Studio Suites with queen beds, desks, walk-in showers and balconies overlooking the Strait, plus Golf Manor Suites and Classic Rooms), heated granite floors and top-tier linens. The property leans into an old-school country-club vibe—dark wood, leather-bound chairs, a touch of plaid—and massive windows that frame fairways and ocean like photos; it feels less like a hotel and more like a private club guests get to temporarily call their own. Dining is a highlight: Cape Cliff Dining Room focuses on fresh, sustainable Nova Scotia seafood (dinner calls for collared shirts and dress shoes), while The Willard serves seafood chowder, burgers, craft beers and cocktails after activities; in-room dining is available and the on-site vineyard (Nova Scotia’s second-largest single-block planting) produces sparkling, white, red, fortified and dessert wines with tastings led by a sommelier. Activities are abundant: championship golf, sport shooting, axe throwing, archery, kayaking, hiking, biking, pontoon tours and private 62-foot yacht cruises, plus pickleball, tennis, horseshoes, lawn games, indoor board games and an award-winning spa and wellness center. Practical perks include an on-property airstrip/private jetway steps from reception, proximity to the Trans-Canada Trail and the village of Tatamagouche, and a five-star vibe with starting rates around $359 — my favorite thing is the championship golf paired with those beautiful Atlantic views and the sense of exclusive, members-only energy." - Lauren Harano

Fox Harb’r Resort (Wallace, Nova Scotia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Tim Hortons co-founder and philanthropist Ron Joyce returned home to the Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia to build Fox Harb’r Resort, a staggeringly luxurious lodging with a championship golf course and a lavish destination spa. The humblest rooms, for golfers on a pilgrimage, are still expansive and packed with high-end details like Molton Brown bath products and Frette linens; the suites, townhomes, villas, and residences lack for nothing in terms of comfort. Cape Cliff, the flagship restaurant, showcases Nova Scotia’s famous seafood; activities range from shooting and archery to sea kayaking, yacht cruises, and golf instruction for all levels of player." - Tablet Hotels

I can't speak too much of the cost because I attendended a conference but overall the experience was great considering I also came when it was just raining all day. Restraunt: the Willard is the name of the restraunt I went too. It's sort of pub style food. It's quite expensive, the burger and fries will run you $23. But since its the closest restraunt for miles I had no other choices. Aside from price burger was fantastic, and the fries were crispy! Highly recommend. Drinks were great. I had their versions of the bloody mary and moscow mule. Both were excellent. So no complaints on food and drinks other than the steep price. Rooms: they have molton brown soap, shampoo and conditioner. Very high end. Rooms are quiet and I couldn't hear the neighbours, although you can hear people sometimes enter the main entrance. Pillows and bed were very comfy. Resort: pool was warm, spa was great. They had a sauna, steam room, salt theraoy, immersive shower, hot tub, and even a cold plunge. The hot tub does look like it needs to be cleaned if I'm honest but the pool itself was polished. I couldn't check out the golf course or trails because it was raining all day but I still enjoyed soaking in that pool. Good experience overall.

Ok so like anyone needs to hype this place up . Its literally the swankiest resort we have in the province ( yes there are ties and lots of cool places other than here) went for an awards ceremony, the grouds were beautiful, you are literally on the ocean. The staff were so very kind ( im not rich or famous by the way lol ) the food was amazing for our reception. I never personally got to stay in the rooms but have only ever heard amazing things. I was only there for the day but one day hope to be able to stay there myself and get pictures 📸. Ps theres a runway..how cool is that

Fox Harbour Resort was the stunning setting for our nephew and nieces wedding and we so enjoyed our stay there. The home we stayed in was beautiful and had everything we needed to make our time there comfortable and relaxing. The home was in close proximity to wedding events and other recreational activities and the staff were second to none in taking care of our needs. We enjoyed 18 holes of golf and thoroughly enjoyed the course and the stunning views of the ocean. We also had the chance to feast on the scrumptious food served by the resort for the wedding and at The Willard. Food was delicious - enjoyed every bite! Would love to visit again and highly recommend a stay.

Fox Harb'r Resort is wonderful each and every time I get to have the pleasure of photographing weddings here. The room and service are always exceptional, with care for every detail. I love the walking trails, the restaurant and of course the delicious food served at receptions. I highly recommend choosing this venue for your celebration, or just for a fabulous weekend getaway.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a conference/retreat. Executive room was large, updated and well appointed. Did have some HVAC issues (remedied quickly) and the fireplace would not turn on but the beds were very comfortable and my location to the main buildings was fabulous. The room could have been cleaner, hair on the floor that wasn't mine and behind the tub had not been cleaned for a very long time. A note for anyone travelling on their own with suitcases, you could have to drag the suitcase up a flight of stairs as there is not elevators in the buildings with the hotel rooms. The buildings look like small homes and there are 6-8 hotel rooms in each "house". Food was great, venue and views were incredible. The archery, ax throwing and shooting were very fun! The only unfortunate part of the trip was the early morning machinery wake up call right outside my bedroom window, every single morning at 7am.

Stayed at Fox Harb’r for a wedding recently - accommodations were excellent and excellent allowing us to check in early for the rehearsal dinner. So many photo worthy spots in location too! Cherry on top though was the doggie goodie bag provided - poop bag and container, treats, and there was a dog bed and bowls waiting for her. Shuttle service was free and quick.

It's always a pleasure to photograph weddings here at Fox Harb'r Resort. The service, food, and accommodations are all top notch each and every time. It's truly a remarkable experience from the moment you enter the iron gates. Whether you're booking a celebration, a corporate event, or a special weekend getaway - I highly recommend Fox Harb'r.

I expected much more from a resort with such a high-end reputation and price point. While the property itself may be luxurious, the service was anything but. I accidentally left behind my toiletries bag in the room — it contained essential items including medication, electric razor, and my electric toothbrush. I called the resort as soon as I realized, and while I was told they’d “look into it,” I had to chase them multiple times just to get an update. No one followed up on their own. After several calls over a few days, they finally confirmed they had the bag and said they’d send it to me. It’s now been over a week, and I still haven’t received anything — no tracking info, no confirmation, nothing. For the amount I paid to stay here, I expected a much higher standard of service. Frankly, I would have expected them to overnight the bag the same day, especially considering it contained prescription medication. It’s extremely disappointing that a resort positioning itself as a luxury destination can be so careless and unresponsive when it comes to basic guest service. This experience completely changed my perception of the brand.****Update**** thank you Kristi for stepping in and sorting this out. Review updated to reflect the great follow up and resolution.

Yelp
What a spectacular setting for an amazing resort. My husband had this place on his golf bucket list and he managed to get us booked for two days sandwiched between time in Halifax. Sadly he could not get more than two days as the place was booked up by a group. This resort was sprawling and did not feel busy despite it being the weekend. Service everywhere was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everywhere was immaculate. Golf talk - My husband loved the golf and commented that the greens were more forgiving than Cabot on Cape Breton. He commented that the parkland nine were surprisingly even nicer than water nine. The Executive course is unlimited, no charge, right by the water. I spent a half day at the spa, reviewed separately and it was a lovely experience. The pool was stunning! The bed was probably the best hotel bed that I have ever slept in. So comfortable. Tim Hortons selection in all rooms, of course, as the founder of this resort is co-founder of Tim Hortons. :) I reviewed one of the restaurants separately. The dinner was outstanding. The breakfast was good - with the lobster Benny being excellent but the scrambled eggs to be avoided.

Yelp
Saw a video on some cool activities they offer on YouTube (clay shooting, axe throwing and archery) and knew it would be perfect place for my girlfriend. Upon researching I also saw they were doing a cool Culinary weekend which is something I love. The seminars included in the weekend on the Saturday looked rather boring to me and I could then fit the activities in for her with the food more for me. I set a reservation with lodging, the culinary thing and activities around Sept. 6/2024. On Oct. 25th/2024 - a few days before the event - I get a heartfelt email saying that since they are doing the culinary weekend that they would not be doing activities that Saturday and apologizing. I called the person on the email and was shocked it was the same person who wrote the email. Devoid of any caring or customer service she proceeded in a very robotic way to state and re-state the facts ad nauseam. When pressed on how I could still do activities since that was the initial reason for going there she stated it could be done on the Sunday BEFORE the final brunch which was going to be 9-11am. In other words getting up super early on my vacation. She argued with me saying people aren't at the brunch for the whole time. The basic overall tone and vibe was one of who cares - we don't need you. I consulted with my girlfriend and then called her back, told her our conversation had rubbed me the wrong way, that I wasn't now thrilled to give them almost $2000 and that I was cancelling the whole trip. (It actually really disappointed me and broke my heart!) She mentioned something about maybe coming to visit another time in the future as a general statement, but what she doesn't get is I am never going there - ever. She offered no sympathy, no understanding and did nothing to make it right. (I never asked for anything extra and did not expect it but seeing as it was their last minute change it would have been a nice gesture to just offer) Good customer service that makes patrons feel welcome and appreciated (something I have had to do in past jobs that did not involve such high prices) is the backbone of a business that wants to keep their customers coming back - Fox Harb'r Resort just lost me forever.

Yelp
A spectacular golf resort with endless additional activities. We enjoyed the archery lessons, shooting lessons, sea kayaking, horseback riding guided trail, par 3 course, and loved the spa. The fancy restaurant was a memorable dinner! We will be back!

Yelp
They just do it right. The staff here are true professionals. They know the menus and services and are extremely helpful and pleasant. The facilities are first rate, and would easily compete with the best out there. The golf course at Fox Harbr is terrific, with the back nine on the water. The food is amazing, whether you choose formal dining or the more casual pub (where you can order off the dining room menu). If you want a Canadian golf holiday then Fox Harbr may be for you.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful course & resort! We would have thoroughly enjoyed our visit however the staff made this a very difficult task. Certain staff members were rude & difficult during our time at the course. When we would apologize for their own ignorance, they would respond with hostile & ill-mannered words & actions. Once again, the resort & course was among the most beautiful I have experienced, but the staffing alone has made me reconsider ever returning.
