We stayed two nights. Check in is easy and parking underground is ok for a smaller car. I’d hate to have to park a large suv in there! |We had two adjoining rooms. They are a bit small and dated and lacking space to store a suitcase. |The pool is basically a giant hot tub but is a pleasant place to be. Breakfast is good value and quality , But limited in choice. Evening meal menu is mostly spicy food. So ok if that’s your preference as the quality is good. The staff were generally helpful and the free bus pass is great.

I stayed over with my friends at The Fox suites for my birthday this past weekend and it was awesome. The scenery, the ambience and the customer service was top notch. The guys at the reception (one Indian and one Caucasian) were totally friendly and helpful. The beds in the room were super comfy too and the room itself was so neat. The highlight of my stay was the hot water pool.. also I was obsessed with Chili’s food downstairs. Super delicious and the waiters/waitresses were very friendly too 🥳🥳 got the yummiest cake for my birthday for free too from them. It was a 10/10 experience and I recommend you try their chicken and shrimp tacos.. it’s super delicious.

Interesting design - there is a large open central area/courtyard and the rooms/suites are around this. The suite we had was spacious and well appointed kitchen area with microwave/fridge. The beds were comfortable. Plenty of parking underground. The fox theme runs through the hotel and features on items such as the light fittings which was a great touch. The staff were friendly and helpful.

While I didn't have the pleasure of staying overnight at the Fox Hotel and Suites in Banff, I did have a wonderful opportunity to experience its charm, and I'm compelled to share a glowing review. My initial encounter was while waiting for a bus pickup out front, and even during that brief interlude, I was thoroughly impressed. The hotel lobby itself looked absolutely beautiful, exuding a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance. What truly caught my eye, however, was the stunning courtyard located just past the lobby. It was a sight to behold, and as I explored further, I noticed a fascinating "hole in the ground." Upon closer inspection, it revealed itself to be some type of hot tub grotto, a level down, offering a unique and inviting aquatic experience. It certainly sparked a desire to return and enjoy that amenity! My positive impression continued later that evening when I returned for a delicious meal at the attached Chili's restaurant. The staff there were incredibly friendly and attentive, making for a very enjoyable dining experience. Based on my observations of the beautiful premises, particularly that intriguing hot tub grotto, and the friendly staff at the Chili's, the Fox Hotel and Suites is definitely a place I would consider staying if I find my way back to this amazing and beautiful town. It left a lasting positive impression, and I'm sure a stay here would be equally delightful.

Great price with I recently stayed at the Fox Hotel and Suites in Banff, and I couldn't have been more impressed! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The check-in process was smooth, and they were happy to provide recommendations for local restaurants and activities. The room was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I especially loved the mountain lodge vibe—it really added to the Banff experience. One of the highlights was the cave-inspired hot pool, which was the perfect way to relax after a day of hiking and exploring. The location is fantastic—just a short walk to downtown Banff, but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. We also appreciated the underground parking and the complimentary Roam bus passes, which made getting around super easy. Overall, our stay at the Fox Hotel was exceptional. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and unique place to stay in Banff. Can't wait to come back!

We were welcomed on check in by Ken who was very helpful throughout our stay. Gave us local directions and recommendations. The underground parking was very helpful, parking in Banff is challenging. The hotel also provided a free local Roam bus pass for some routes. |Our room was on the third floor, not overly spacious but OK. It was located by the walkway at the open roof of the cave pool/ hot tub. This was an issue with noise especially in the evenings when residents were enjoying it loudly, it is open til 11pm. If you had a young family this might be difficult.|We didn’t eat in the Chillis located at the hotel. We did try to get a drink one evening at 21:35 to be told by quite an abrupt member of staff that they were closing at 21:45 so we weren’t in luck. We asked if we could take a drink back to our room instead, a female member of staff overheard our discussion and came over, she offered to sort the drinks to take to our room. The male member of staff seemed displeased by this and discussed with his female colleague in front of us. Felt uncomfortable and we didn’t bother with the restaurant/bar for the rest of our stay. It’s a shame that more of the staff don’t exhibit the professionalism of the staff on reception.

Extremely Disappointed – Not Worth the $600+ Stay We recently stayed for one night at Fox Hotel—thankfully, it was only one night. We booked a pet-friendly room for over $600, expecting at the very least a comfortable stay for us and our dogs. Prior to arrival, we received an email from the hotel asking for our pets’ names and sizes. They promised a dog bed/blanket, bowl, etc. Sounds great—except when we arrived, none of those items were there. Nothing. Not even a bowl. So much for “pet-friendly.” The room was not air-conditioned, something you’d expect to be clearly disclosed at booking. When I called the front desk, they casually said that AC was not included in our “standard room.” Really? At this price point? Our dogs were panting and restless due to the heat, and we were never informed of this in advance. Had we known, we would have paid more for a different room or gone elsewhere entirely. We asked for a fan—what arrived was dirty, and even with three fans, the room was still stifling. To make it worse, the windows couldn’t be opened. It was an absolutely miserable experience, and none of us got a good night’s rest. Our dogs were uncomfortable the entire time, which completely defeated the purpose of a pet-friendly stay. Overall, this was not a $600+ experience in any way. Poor communication, misleading expectations, and lack of basic comfort. If you’re traveling with pets or during warmer months, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. See my uploaded pictures for reference.

The location of the hotel is good with perfect access to the town. There is a supermarket named IGA which is about 8 mins walk. The cave pool is amazing which gives us a relaxing experience. The room is spacious with 2 levels. The upper level is bedroom while the lower level is dining room with a small kitchen. However, room service needs to be improved as there is no cleaning for one day during our stay. Facial tissue doesn't refill after using up.

Yelp
We had a really good experience with this hotel. Check in was easy and the employee working was friendly and helpful. We had a Jeep Wrangler which we were able to park in the garage with no issues. If you are driving a taller car they have a measuring stick at the desk to see if your car will fit in the garage. Because we booked through the Expedia, we had a $15 credit we could use at a few restaurants, including the chilis in the lobby. I'm not sure if this is a permanent promotion, and we didn't have a chance to use it, but I thought that was nice. Our room was nice, basic bed and couch and bathroom set up. But the main reason we chose this hotel was the hot tub, which did not disappoint. I loved the open skylight which brought in cool fresh air. Because of the layout of the hotel, you may have to go outside to get to the hot tub, so if it's cold you may want to plan on changing in the downstairs changing rooms.

Yelp
The staff here are all well meaning and nice. But that doesn't make up for some shortcomings. The elevator sounds and feels like it's about to fail. Grinding and vibration with every ride. The furniture in the suites is NOT comfortable to sit on, and for a suite the refrigerator is so small it's almost not worth having. But the big issue is climate control. In short, the air conditioning in my room is either not functioning correctly or is just not up to the task. Admittedly a hot few days in Banff, about 90F degrees. We had the AC running all day and the blinds closed, and now at 11pm, the entire units is 80F. I asked the front desk if maintenance could look into the issue. Instead, they brought us a fan. C'mon, this is not the first hot summer Banff has ever seen. For $800/night I expected the AC to work. Not sure how the heat would be in the cold months. It's equipped with electric baseboard heat. But don't even consider getting a room here in the summer. I'm very dissatisfied. Spend a few extra bucks and stay in a nice place, closer to downtown.

Yelp
Great hotel for a family. No complaints at all. Service was very good, it was clean, and rooms were nice. Hot grotto was relaxing after a day of hiking. Continental breakfast included was enough for our family. If you wanted more of a bigger breakfast you could order that there too. There is a Chilis restaurant in the hotel. They also let you check out bear spray for free. Special guests came to dine there at night!

Caitlin S.

Yelp
The rooms are fairly nice BUT we can hear literally everything the people in the next room say or do. Full conversations, every step, I mean EVERYTHING. I wouldn't stay here again just based on this, as it is going to make going to sleep impossible. (Also, the people aren't being excessively loud, the walls/doors are just that thin)

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at Fox! We had convenient parking, easy access to downtown Banff, comfortable accommodations, and not to mention an amazing hot tub! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
This hotel seems cool by the pictures and description but the logistics are really inconvenient. Pros: Upstairs/downstairs set up in suites, pool, on-site restaurant (Chilis), modern, customer service Cons: parkade is extremely tight, stairs everywhere (struggle for mobility), super noisy. We could hear every pipe, movement from neighbours etc, one bed was so loud/creaked that when one of us moved -everyone woke up. This hotel is great for couples or friends traveling. Would not recommend for families with little kids. I didn't deduct a star for accessibility because admittedly, we didn't consider it. Our son who is wheelchair bound needed to be carried up and down since there are so many stairs. Again, that's on us but anyone traveling with someone that requires an accessible hotel, this is not the one for you.

Yelp
This is a pretty basic 3 - 3.5 star hotel in Banff, but is good for families or people looking to stay in town longer on a budget. Or those unfamiliar with the area looking for a reliable place to crash among the many hotels with basic amenities. It is technically walking distance from the middle of downtown, but there are a few closer comparable hotels than this. So if you hate walking, or if it's -20C (average temp was -11C during our stay) you're probably going to be wishing it's a few steps nearer. Checked in first week of December, which is not peak season but it was busy that day - a Friday afternoon. They put us on the ground floor, after asking for a higher floor (since we're staying 5 nights, wanting something good), they said they didn't have any other 1br suites on different floors, so we stuck with the ground level. This was a blessing and a curse, it's only a wee bit louder than other floors, with people outside or above you. The good news is there are fewer stairs to climb (there's an elevator if you wish to wait, but can take a while). There's also a door between you and the adjoining room (for people who want to rent out adj rooms), but unfortunately you can hear the people in the suite next door if they're really loud. Luckily this was never an issue except the very last day we were getting ready to leave. Pluses: Room is decent sized and has a sink outside the bathroom so you're not always waiting to use one or the other. Kinda homey with a kitchenette, two tv's per suite, one in the bedroom and one in living room, and relatively pleasant decor. TV channels are decent, but different in bedroom. Wifi works fine in the room, but not in all common areas. Didn't try to connect to any streaming services on wifi or tv but may work OK. Heat in both rooms can be individually controlled (didn't work when I tried to turn it on initially, but someone came quickly and got it working - seems you have to turn on the bedroom first, which I didn't even know was there). Microwave and fridge are small but pretty standard. Really good hot pool with a grotto and lockers/changing room, which was nice to come home or wake up to, for a soak. It was actually too hot the second time we used it. But tiny gym and non-working 'business center' are only there to check off boxes. Free parking underground, but somewhat limited and spaces are tight so this would be a problem in peak times. You have to park on the side streets otherwise, which is fine unless it's bone chilling or snow/rain. On a Friday/Saturday off-peak if you get back to the hotel before 7pm you should be able to find a space. But then you miss out on things like going out to dinner. Weekdays are easy to park anytime during non-holidays. Not far from town, especially with a car. But if you take your car to town it's $2 parking / hr until 8pm (most stuff closes at 9 or earlier). There's a little laundry room where I washed a quick load for about $6, including cost of soap. It did the job. Minus: Other than the front desk, the hotel staff seemed kind of annoyed to be there. The restaurant staff was slightly better, but still hit or miss. Random smokers around your room, even saw one dude in the parking garage standing next to a big "no smoking" sign. Lobby is small and only good waiting for a ride or meeting people to go out. Restaurant in hotel, but it's a Chili's. But not a real Chilis... only burgers and stuff. No queso dip either. The beers and cocktails were good though, and there's a happy hour. Free breakfast, but found out the hard way this is continental. Unless you like the same self-serve waffles and bad fruit or cereal each day, this isn't a great way to start a day. 2 days before we left, they rolled out a new ala carte menu which helped a little - but it's pretty high at about $15CDN for an entree. Can eat an amazing breakfast in town for a few $ less than that. Side items are reasonable (we were seriously craving some bacon by day 4). Coffee and juice is decent and will give you to-go cup/boxes if requested. Will probably seek other options next time, now that we know the area better. But at least we didn't have to pay to park our mini SUV. Final rating - 3.47 stars

Yelp
Very cute. Cute little fox details everywhere, foxes in the wallpaper, foxes in the art. Take a selfie photo and caption it with "How many foxes can you find in this photo" if you want to. Comfortable restaurant on the same site is really nice. Sit and relax and watch the tour busses on Banff Ave go by. The underground hot tub pool was great, and the historical photos lining the walk in from the parking garage (explaining Banff's history - discovery of a hot spring in a cave which led to Banff becoming Canada's first national park) were good too. But $450/night for a room with no air conditioning? The fancy digital thermostat in our tiny room showed us that the temperature never went below 24°C and that's way too hot for sleeping. Did I mention $450/night and no air conditioning? Seems like an important detail to me now, as I lay awake and too warm to sleep, on my bed at Fox Inn & Suites, so I thought it's worth emphasizing. It would take an awful lot of cute foxes for me to get past the fact that I paid $450/night for a room that is too hot to sleep in. Although if you're coming here in the winter the thermostat looks new.

Yelp
Located at the start of thr main Street of Banff. This hotel has a chilies right inside. The decoration is quite nice like a lodge. The front desk service js courteous and prompt. I rented a king bed with a small kitchen. The room was clean but lots of issues such as door handles coming off. The hallways are also a bit dirty with snow. The big selling point of this hotel is the pool. A mix between a hot tub and pool thats outdoor. Very nice cave looking pool. The Fox hotel is a great place to stay in Banff for a decent price.

Yelp
Booked this place as a last minute option for the night since we were going around the park and looking for different places to stay every day. It has easily become one of my favourite places to stay in Banff, for the location and the overall vibe of the hotel. I am a huge fan of the interiors, details and love the salt-cave inspired pool (currently closed due to covid). A bonus is that it came with breakfast (which was just ok to be honest, not that great and taste was ok for food too. nothing much, but better than nothing). You get an a la carte menu and choose one item from it along with a drink. Room came equipped with everything, was very spacious and private (even though they're next to each other). Walls are thin though so you can easily hear what's going on next door. I did like the location of the hotel since it was very close to Downtown Banff. I don't prefer the underground parking but it was good overall. Would definitely consider staying again.

Yelp
Could not recommend this hotel more, staff where all extremely friendly and accommodating! Upgraded our room to the suite for a small fee and it was amazing, spacious and clean! Quick walk to the strip but you can also get a free bus pass from the front desk!
google avatar

Yelp
No air conditioning in the rooms (do have oscillating fans). Only one window can be opened for air circulation BUT it is on a wall that guests use to access their rooms. Creates privacy and noise problems to be open to the public.

Yelp
I'm giving this hotel 3 stars... because after one night in a piping hot sauna room (And someone coming and duct taping paper over the vent to "help") Our 3 month old woke up every hour crying he was so hot-sleeping in a diaper! We were told they would attempt to fix the problem and would not move us rooms after calling down for the 3rd time between 10pm and 7am. We promptly headed to the front desk where they upgraded us to the suite at no extra charge where the temperature is regulated and "normal". We are very happy-comfy beds-amazing cave hot pool and a nice breakfast. We would stay here again but recommended staying in a suite as the regular rooms are quite small.

Yelp
Enjoyed our stay at Fox Hotel & Suites. We had a king suite room that was clean and spacious. The kitchenette was great and the room had AC. There is a nice hot pool in the hotel which saved time and money for us vs going to a hot springs to pay. Staff was friendly and parking was free but as a first come first serve. We never had a problem coming back and parking after 9pm. The parking lot elevator can also go straight up to your floor which was handy when we brought our luggage in. Breakfast is complimentary but you have to pay $3 CAD for bacon.

Yelp
This hotel has a higher than average price point and I had expected a little more for that. The room was very small which is manageable. The bed had a plastic bed covering over the entire mattress. Very uncomfortable to sleep on. Had to get up In the middle of the night and strip the bed and remove the pee pad... the front end staff was as accommodating as they could be. So that was a plus. Parking was atrocious. Had to park 3 blocks away. lastly, the big upswell for the too. Was access to the hot pool. I couldn't book a time until I was checked in. No way they allow that at time of booking. Only times available were 1-430 Pm. Before check in time. Poor system.

Yelp
Here's the summarized rundown: Pros: -Free breakfast...pretty decent continental breakfast (fruit, cereal, waffles, toast, pastries) Would have been nice to have some different offerings each day, but hey, free is good :)) -Clean...never saw anything out of place and our room was cleaned very well. -The hot tub and sauna area is really nice and relaxing Cons: -Hard bed...like really hard, no give at all and the sheets were scratchy. They felt like a cheap tablecloth. -Parking...the parking garage is a joke. There's one way in/out which is really dangerous if you have 2 cars going the opposite direction. Also, there's only about 20 parking spaces. We asked the front desk what we're supposed to do about there not being any spaces and the response was "you can park on the street or in the residential area". The problem with that was that there were ZERO of those spots available either. We drove around for an HOUR looking for parking. We gave up and parked in a "restricted" area and just prayed no one ticketed us. -Quite loud outside the rooms...you can hear everyone walking and talking outside of your room which takes away from your relaxing vacation. -Must go outside to get to other parts of hotel...it's not convenient that if you want to go to the pool or restaurant, you have to walk outside (in the freezing cold!) If I come back to Banff (which I'd love to do!) I would probably choose elsewhere to stay. This isn't a horrible hotel, but I've stayed at much better and I know there are better in Banff.

Yelp
Good service. Free breakfast. Close enough to downtown but pretty quiet at night. Room was decently sized and very tidy. Has a pool and a Chili's restaurant with good service.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best hotel in Banff. I came here for a weekend retreat, and was treated like an absolute king. The hotel, bar staff, and waitstaff are all absolutely incredible! The spa is absolutely fantastic, and everyone is so kind and willing to go above and beyond to make your dreams a reality!

Yelp
We stayed for three nights and were extremely disappointed with the amenities of this hotel. The check in/out process was very easy. The hotel rooms are extremely tiny! Like there's hardly any space for your luggage, let alone walking around. We had two beds, two doubles. The beds would squeak every time you move. The pillows smelled funny. The towels were so worn out that they were rough and raggedy. The shower pressure was very low. There's no fridge or microwave. CHECK YOUR DOORS. Apparently they experience glitches with the doors where they don't lock!! Since your doors are facing the outside, at times, it can be pretty loud while you're trying to sleep or rest. I ended up waking up at least twice a night. At least the room was clean... I didn't use the gym but it looks pretty rickety. I guess $205/night for the convenience of staying on the strip. They have breakfast vouchers for the continental breakfast which is connected to the Chili's restaurant within the hotel. There's make your own waffles, some cereal, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, bread, and oatmeal. The breakfast tasted worse and worse each day. The fruit didn't taste fresh. You can't serve your own coffee which is a little annoying. You have to pay extra for a side of bacon. There's a nice hot tub (size of a pool) and sauna. This was probably the best part of the hotel.

Yelp
One of many hotel options in Banff that have a mountain log cabin theme to it but this one I feel has a great location on the main road but about 7 mins away from all the bustle. If driving, you're able to pull into a driveway to unload vs some hotels keeping you on the street. What bewildered me is that a Chili's is the main restaurant in the hotel. This is one of the only major food chains in town that I saw. There are multiple amenities including a gym, lots of exterior stairs for exercise and an underground hot tub with a grotto theme. The water was likely 96-100 degrees so not overly warm but relaxing and clean with changing rooms right next door. Staying in a single queen size bedroom on the first floor, there was noise and passerby's but I think that's normal with their outdoor courtyard setup to get into the rooms. Two important aspects of any hotel room is the bed and cleanliness, both pass the test. If you are 6ft tall, the shower head isn't friendly for tall guests. The bath products smell great including the locally made lavender soap bars. I took one with me to use at home...shhh! A great perk the hotel offers is a free pass to use the Roam buss which is Banffs public transportation as parking is not great in peak season. I recommend taking this even to get down a few blocks to dinner as it is clean, easy to use and has frequent run times.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Fox Hotel! Their complimentary breakfast was complete with a waffle maker, assorted pastries, toaster oven, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, and all you can drink coffee, tea, and juice. The service was impeccable. The front desk manager and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They had so many great tips as it was our first time in Banff. Plus, they gave us complimentary Roam bus passes for transportation to and from downtown to the hotel. We loved our little kitchenette and we're thrilled about our upgraded room. Loved the fox theme throughout the hotel. Truly a memorable experience!

Yelp
Great hotel! I love the look. It's got lots of beautiful wood work. The rooms are pretty nice and big. The bed is comfy and the bathroom is nice and big. I like that there is a fridge in the room. No complaints. There is nice underground parking and the staff is great.
google avatar

Zahra K.

Yelp
Nice hotel, friendly service, comfortable bedding and pillows. The hot pool is small, no fridge in room, the towels are soft. Water pressure nice. Good location.
google avatar

Yelp
Very thin walls and could hear everything outside. We were given very hard and uncomfortable pillows, and we had to ask to switch these ups. Otherwise, mostly clean but small room. Mirrors required cleaning. The breakfast buffet was great but likely won't pick this hotel next time, not worth the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Great stay, no complaints! The room was clean and the hot tub was really neat. We enjoyed it every night! The cost to stay here was extremely reasonable. We knew we wouldn't be in the room much but out exploring so we didn't see a reason to splurge and I'm very happy with our decision.

Yelp
Rooms are beautiful and right in the heart of downtown! Great price for the value. I was surprised at how incredible the entire staff was at the connected chili's restaurant, the manager Andrew made sure we had the best service and had such great knowledge of the area!

Yelp
We've traveled the world but can't think of any place that is easier to visit, with dramatic landscapes and international flavor, than Banff. But if you don't want to leave your hotel, stay at the Fox. The lobby is gorgeous, included breakfast is at Chili's next door. Parking is underground. Park once and leave it there. Free bus transportation takes you (almost) everywhere and it's a short walk to town. Our suite is really sweet - a full living room / kitchen and separate bedroom. Frosting on the cake is the grotto style hot tub. Amazing.

Yelp
I would probably give this room a 2.5 but I couldn't bring myself to give it a three . Stayed at the Fox Hotel for a couple of nights with my husband, dog and 3 month old. The hotel seems to be quite clean which I really appreciated and the staff were nothing but helpful. We had a room with a couch and a "queen" bed. My husband and I had just come from Jasper sleeping in a queen, this bed seemed a lot smaller and I think it was a double. Coupled with this, the room was sooooo hot. There was no fan, A/C, and only a tiny window to open. I did not sleep well for the two nights due to this. The pillows on the bed were super tiny (I think they wanted to make the bed look bigger). The room was nicely decorated but it lacked what I would consider basic amenities when staying in a hotel. No fridge, microwave or A/C. The staff were super helpful in getting me a fridge when I called down as I had to have a place to store my daughter's milk. I really appreciated that. In the end, due to the lack in amenities and the heat, I don't think I will ever stay here again. The staff were amazing but not enough to redeem the negative experience at this hotel. The pool did look amazing but stupid covid made it impossible to partake.

Yelp
They have a "Guaranteed " 4pm check in. Well of course our room wasn't ready by four so they gave us ONE free drop drink at Chili's restaurant. Twenty minutes tops was the new guaranteed time. Well forty minutes went by and finally room was ready. Rooms need some TLC. Worn furniture, chipped paint and windows so dirty it was hard to look out of. Towels were thin and rough to the skin, sheets were very rough and bed was very hard. Woke up with horrendous back ache. Oh and there is no A/C so our loft was smoking hot. Maid service was a joke as empty coffee cups, empty shopping bags and recyclable bottles/cans were left on table and night stands. Come park early as there is only 20 parking spaces in underground parkade. All this for $800 a night. Avoid and go to Banff Springs hotel. Better bang for the buck.

Caitlin J.

Yelp
This a very nice hotel on the North end of Banff Ave. The location is great walking distance to downtown. The hotel also gave us a bus pass that we could use during our stay, a thought gesture. We stayed in a King Suite which had two separate rooms, the bedroom as well as a living area with kitchenette. The bathroom could use some work. It is so small that the door hit the toilet when you opened it. It serves the purpose though. All of the staff was very nice and accommodating. They also gave us meal tickets for complimentary breakfast that was located in the Chili's restaurant within the hotel. We went one day and it was not appetizing. We ended up going somewhere else for breakfast. Overall we had a great stay at the Fox!

Yelp
My family is currently staying at this hotel and we are miserable. We are miserable because there is no air conditioning in these rooms and my family just spent the night in a 85 deg (Fahrenheit) room even though outside it is very cool and there is even a slight rain. Complaining to hotel management did nothing, of course. When we told hotel management which room we are in they said "ah, a standard room; only suites have a/c; we can upgrade you for a fee if you like". Pay more just to have a room with a tolerable temperature? The rooms are also very small. Our "three person room" has only one bed (a queen) and a couch. I gave this rating two stars only because the hotel is superficially nice. But even the Best Western in town (yes, we stayed there two nights) is better (at least they have a/c). But my advice: avoid The Fox at all costs. It should be your last, most desperate choice. UPDATE: judging by the number of towels (2) and wash cloths (1), it appears that this room is intended for only one person, two at the most.

Yelp
Hello, Mr. Fox, Mr. Elk and Ms. Moose, My name is Crystal and I was your guest this week. I appreciated your overly thorough run through of the amenities, the lengthy booklet of coupons, free parking, wi-fi, breakfast voucher and the free transit pass. But most especially, thanks for the clean room, even with my early arrival! You thought of so many kind additions to your guest rooms! It felt like I was walking into a log cabin, complete with your animal kin on the wallpaper. Yes, moose, fox, elk and possibly other species of horned mountain creatures. The room was cozy, with a sitting area, desk and the lavender soap from Rocky Mountain Soap Company was a really lovely touch. I was a little put off by the widows which faced into the open air courtyard/hallway. My room was right off of a staircase, which basically meant anyone of your relatives walking down the stairs had a full view of my room, unless the shades were completely drawn. But, there is something to be said for leaving your room and walking right into the open air! But the shining gem was the hot pools. You sure know how to spoil a girl on a business trip! Designed like a cavern, the pool is perfect for lounging from 6:30am to 11pm. It feels magical when you're looking up towards the open sky from the basement surrounded by stone and waterfalls. So much so that I woke up early the morning I was leaving just to start my day in the pools. Pure bliss and the reason I'll stay at your home again. Thanks for the mountain air sleep, Crystal

Yelp
This place is great, within walking distance from the Banff Strip where all the restaurants and shops are located. The rooms are great, the hot pools are relaxing and the restaurant is a nice plus. When we are in town again, I will be staying here!!!

Yelp
What an awesome place. Smack in the middle of all the action. The hot tub/cave was one experience I will not forget. Great rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Going to stay here every time it come to banff.

Yelp
This hotel has a beautiful exterior, but is located a bit far from The downtown area of Banff township. Yes you can walk it and there is a free shuttle. They have a Chili's in the restaurant and the room comes with a decent continental breakfast where you can make your own waffles. My favorite part of the place is their cave hot tub. It's a little lake with different sections so there is some semblance of privacy for different groups. There is also a dry sauna. Purportedly the different areas of the jacuzzi are different temperatures but I couldn't feel it. A little too warm in the summer, but I'm sure it feels amazing in the winter after skiing or boarding. No air conditioning. Be sure to pull our the fan from the closet.

Yelp
3.5 stars. I got a suite here on Amoma.com for something like $300/night -- a steal compared to their posted rates of $500+. No big regrets! It was a lovely 2-story room with comfy beds, ample privacy, onsite laundry, and a fully-equipped kitchenette (all SO essential if you have a baby in tow). It's only a 5-10 minute walk from downtown Banff and convenient to most of the great sights in the national park. Only a few dings: 1. the free breakfast at the hotel restaurant (a Chili's) is crap. Stale pastries, broken waffle irons, lots of carbs but very little protein or fruit. I'd have been mad about this if I was paying full price for the hotel. 2. I don't think the cave pool is as cool as everyone else seems to. It's laid out in such a way that 3 people (or groups of people) can enjoy relative privacy and relaxation, but if there are any more units down there...you're right in strangers' faces and it's awkward. Overall, though, a good experience.

Yelp
One of my best lodging experiences so far. The place is brand new and the design is so elegant. Loved their underground hot pool and hey: There's a Chili's diner at the lobby!! Free Internet, free parking and free breakfast + spacious beautiful rooms. It is also walking distance from heart of town. Might be a bit pricey. But this place has it all

Yelp
I had the good fortune to visit The Fox while on business in Banff during a recent cold snap in December. What I found was a very comfortable, better quality, lodge hotel. The location was useful, the rooms have all modern amenities, are well heated, it was -25C at night, cozy and decorated in Rocky Mountain Lodge style. A downside is the size of the rooms, they are small. The other, bigger downside is the chain restaurant, Chili's, on the main floor. I understand that they don't want the risk of running a restaurant but, this is crummy. Fortunately, the bar is decently stocked or there would be no reason to stop in the lobby. You can be very comfortable staying here and get a real Rocky Mountain experience but, you need to eat somewhere else.

Yelp
Summary is that we stayed for 2 nights in June 2018 and it's a really beautiful place in an excellent location. There are some glaring things which could be improved upon and it is a bit pricier than we thought it to be worth, but still gave it 4 stars. PROS: Our suite had 2 rooms with a balcony, fridge, and micro. We never heard anything from the hall. Our bed was very comfortable, as was the linen. Views from the balcony were great for sitting at the beginning and end of the day. Easy access from the garage to the rooms. CONS: For this expensive of a hotel, and especially one with a hot tub and sauna, it should have robes in each room but does not. When we questioned the manager at check-out, she said that robes could be supplied IF we asked for them. Sorry, but that is just wrong for a hotel at this price point. The hotel restaurant is a Chilis chain restaurant. For a big vacation to a really nice place like Banff. C'mon, that is the mid-scale equivalent of Ruby Tuesday, Appleby and TGIFriday in what is supposed to be an upscale lodge. At least change the name of the place to something unique to give the appearance of at least trying to be bettter. It's a little far to walk to the heart of town when the weather is nasty. JUST THE WAY IT IS: The garage was similar to every other one we saw in town, with one way in and out, so just watch the big round mirror. It is tight but has plenty of spaces and ski lockers. The little pool/hot tub is cutsie but the faux cave walls could use some repair.

Yelp
The Fox Hotel & Suites in Banff is a luxurious place to stay while you are staying the lovely mountain town. It is located on Banff Avenue and is not a far walk to all of the shops and restaurants in downtown Banff. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in a loft suite and it was beautiful. With the bedroom and bath in the upper part of the suite you feel absolutely cozy and enjoy an amazing view of the mountains as the sun rises in the morning. The downstairs has a great comfy space for lounging and watching TV as well as space to work at a desk and a mini kitchen. The service staff was so professional as well. From the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning staff -- we had nothing but great experiences. We didn't get a chance to experience the "grotto" but it looked incredible. It is an open air hot tub enclosed in a magical cave in the lower level of the hotel. I imagine it would be so beautiful and peaceful to sit down there when it is quiet and look up through the hole at the stars.

Yelp
We stayed at the Fox for a bachelorette weekend and their two bedroom suites are just perfect for it! There are four double beds plus a pull out couch, so we could all have our own bed but still be in the same unit. The kitchenettes had wine glasses, which was obviously important to us, and a good sized mini fridge and a microwave. The hot tub is fabulous and it is very relaxing to be in such a gorgeous setting. There are three distinct areas of the hot tub, which provides nice privacy and a quiet atmosphere for relaxing. There is light jazz playing through speakers in the area, too. There is a sauna tucked into the corner, and some shower heads in the stone work. We did have some problems with our early check-in not being available when we showed up; at that point, the front desk staff could have been more helpful.

Yelp
Great hotel! I came here with seven other friends this week and we had a really good experience. Hotel is relatively new looking (could have been renovated, I'm assuming it's new though) and really fits in the atmosphere of Banff. Suites were very nice. Strangely laid out but it worked! Wish the kitchen was a little more equipped as there were 8 of us and only 4 of each piece of dinnerware/cups. Bathrooms were really nice and clean. Overall the appearance of the hotel was very enticing. I love a pool and I loved this one even more. They have their own take on a hot spring called the Grotto that has an opening in the roof of it. Sauna was amazing and the warm pool was great to sit in and relax. Only complaint was that the maid service didn't clean our room until about 3:45pm even though we had been out of the room since noon that day. I will definitely consider coming back here again!

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel for two nights, the place is very clean and pretty new. The room is small compared to other places that we have stayed, two full size beds and there's not much room to hang around. There's no fan in the bathroom, there's no fridge or microwave in the room and poor Ventilation in the room. They do have a decent continental breakfast on site with Chili's chain restaurant, the standard breakfast with waffles, boiled eggs, cereals, toast and drinks. No bacon or sausages for those who are meat lovers. There's an small exercise room with 2 old equipments, an elliptical and inactive bike machine and free weights. The hot tub and sauna is very good, warm and well decorated. Staffs are friendly and was not knowledgeable in tourist attractions, probably due to out of town workers. The hotel is in walking distance to the town center 5-10 mins and they offered free roam pass for guests to use(public transportation), they do have bike rentals on site. We liked the place!

Yelp
Nice but two floor suites. Super nice downstairs pool. Beds were short and crowded but the bathroom was nice. If you want a kitchenette, this is a great option in Banff. Probably the best price deal in Banff too.

Yelp
Very dissatisfied. Hotel needs a makeover. Furniture in our room had chipped paint. We had a two room suite and AC was in living room. No AC in bedroom. We had a fan to put in doorway between rooms but it made too much noise to use it. Stained dish towels in kitchen. Tiny little bars or soap in shower. We booked this with Rocky Mountaineer Railroad. The "free" breakfast buffet was awful. No eggs except hard boiled and we had to pay $2.50 for 3 slices of bacon. No bagels or English muffins. No potatoes. No buffet!

Yelp
The hubby and I stayed here while we were in Banff enjoying time away from Sunny AZ. The front desk staff were very friendly and help me find some restaurants that could satisfy both my vegetarian pallet as well as my carnivore of a husband. The staff that handled the breakfast option at Chili's were just ok. Not too friendly, not too quick with the drink orders and you would think that people would just come off the street looking for a free meal the way they barked for your breakfast coupon. It's within walking distance of all the shops and eatery's and you pretty much want to go back there every night in case you missed something. Underground parking is a bit tricky on late nights, but the surrounding streets are very parking friendly. I forgot my camera battery charger and didn't realize it for a couple weeks and they were great with returning it. I would stay here again!

Yelp
Just one night in but couldn't sleep all night because of HORRIBLE loud sound from a fan outside on the 4th floor. Needed to use earplugs or wake up with headache. Sleepless night! Rooms are small. Staff is nice. Disappointed!!!

Yelp
I am currently staying @ the fox hotel & suites. I have to say I love it ! It's really clean, staff is very friendly, the pool is so amazing & the price is not that bad. It includes English breakfast, I would say maybe that is my only complaint. I think breakfast should include a little more besides that I absolutely love the hotel. I will be coming back to this hotel whenever I have plans to come back to Banff. Love it ! (=
