"Dick Doré (founding partner at the excellent Foxen Vineyards) describes it as “like lightning,” recalling that the region went from a few hundred visitors on a weekend to well over a thousand in the months following the film’s release."

Very warm and engaging staff, relaxing atmosphere, and great wine. Amazing experiences.

Foxen Vineyards is another Foxen Canyon winery that you should for sure give a try. The wines are all excellent, but what really brings us back is the family friendly atmosphere... and when I say that, I don't just mean it's kid friendly (though it TOTALLY is!), but that the staff treat you like family! I think that's the shining light here. But again, they are kid friendly (though the bees sometimes feel a bit more present here than other places we've been) and even have some winery dogs that love the kids and to be pet! There is a field close by that the kids can run around in while being in view the whole time. Definitely give Foxen Vineyard a visit!

Google
We loved all the wines we tasted. Graham, our server, was very knowledgeable. The Syrahs ( some of them are estate grown) and the Pinots are exceptional. Most wines have the sustainable label. The outdoor tasting area tables are far apart from each other, so it doesn't get noisy. Update for a new visit: excellent wines again, especially the Pinots. Or pourer, Becki, was very knowledgeable and very friendly.

Google
Have enjoyed their wines for a long time. Our group was very excited to learn more about the vineyards and sample some great wine.

Google
We were referred here after another tasting if you like deeper reds at their second facility the shack. Cute, literally a shack. Great consistent wines. Loved all the wines we tried even a very nice crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Joined the club and then went next door to their main tasting room to continue tasting the Pinots. Well worth it to join their club as well. Can’t wait to attend the summer bbq pick up party.

Google
Graham was a stellar host. Must stop in Los Olivos. Amazing 2021 Rose of Mourvèdre l, 2019 Williamson Dore Vineyard & 2018 Pinot Noir Fi Ciego Vineyards among others.

Emmanuel Moss

Google
Enjoyed the Pinots and sunshine. Tamara was engaging and knowledgeable.

Google
Excellent vineyard with two tasting rooms. If you like burgundian-style chardonnays and pinot noirs this is the place to go. Gone are the days of free tastings and taking your glass home, so tasting flights are not cheap. However, with wine purchases tastings can be free!! Worth the visit.

Yelp
Nice winery, a little further out, so they close at 4. We arrived at 3:30 and they were really nice to accommodate us and we were able to get through our tastings without feeling too rushed. Tamara was pouring for us and could not have been nicer. She had a great knowledge of the Foxen brands, and wines as a whole. The really drag of the experience was the family with three small children that were running wild and screaming the entire time. Apparently, the people were wine club members, so unfortunately nothing was said to them and it really did color the time we spent there, as well as the table next to us that we could overhear complaining.

Wendy N.

Yelp
I've been a wine club member off and on for years. Their Pinots are second to none and the rest of their wines aren't too shabby either. My favorite white is their Chenin Blanc. There are two tasting rooms- one at "the Shack" which is a rustic barn and the other room just up the street, which looks like a traditional tasting room. Note: the tasting room up the street from the Shack has the Pinot tasting menu, the Shack has Cab Franc, Syrah, and red blends. Tastings range from $20-25 and the staff are super friendly. Our visit today was on a cold rainy day. They are still doing outside tastings due to COVID but there are heat lamps and they provide blankets :) They also have free wi-fi! I highly encourage joining their wine club to get access to free tastings and member pricing on wines. Foxen is one of my top 3 favorites in the Santa Ynez Valley!

Stacy S.

Yelp
We did the Sideways self-wine tour this past weekend. And Foxen was our only five-star experience. The staff was great... very knowledgeable on the wines, history of the winery and the area, and overall friendly. We enjoyed tasting the wines at their inside bar and would go back if we're in the area again. I appreciate the refillable bottles of water and glasses for us. Thanks for keeping us hydrated in an eco-friendly manner!!

Tammy T.

Yelp
Reasonable tasting price at $25 for 6 delicious wines. There are 2 Foxen tasting rooms that are next to each other, they pour different wines. We chose the Shack tasting location which is focus on France and Italian varieties. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our visit. We'll be back.

William S.

Yelp
Our Tasting at Foxen was fantastic! We were seated outside among their vineyards and Brent, our host, was wonderful! Brent was very personable, service oriented and extremely knowledgeable about wine. He was very informative about the Foxen wines - vineyards, specific clones, and the wines characteristics. There was a close "family feel" sense we expereinced by everyone we came in contact with. Highly Recommended!!

Marie C.

Yelp
We were greeted at the door and came as a walk in's. We were seated right away. If there is one thing about this winery it's their Pinot noirs that stood out. There is just something so special about 2018 Block 8. Fantastic wine and year that we purchased a magnum. Tamara was so knowledgeable and she could go on for hours about this place and their wine. So enthusiastic and kind! Beautiful setting that makes you feel right at home. Their charcuterie is to die for and recommend having it with your tasting!! This place is a gem (unlike the usuals Sunstone and Fess Parker) and will forever remember for my birthday.

Anne G.

Yelp
One of my all time favorites! They have the best Pinots in SB county! Make a Reservation for a beautiful table overlooking Foxen Canyon! The servers are knowledgeable and the tasting menu is superb. Don't miss this spot when planning your next wine tasting adventure.

Steven G.

Yelp
The location and outdoor tasting location are truly lovely. We had the pinot noir wine tasting. The pinot style here is very bright fruit that almost tastes underripe. Because of the different grape lots used in these wines, combined with the fact that they all had a very sharp and bright fruit, I belive this is an intentional style. However, it is one that my wife and I did not love. We liked some of wines more than others. But we did not love any of them. However, when we were done, I asked if I could try the Cab Franc, which I saw in another tasting. Our server obliged and I loved it so much I bought a number of bottles. The place was so great, and the service so pleasant, we still loved this tasting, even though we didn't love any of the pinots in the tasting. I did love the Cab Franc though.

Rey B.

Yelp
Stopped by Foxen on a whim on the way to Solvang. They were gracious and squeezed us in even though we didnt have a reservation. The setting is really pretty and we enjoyed a tasting. We loved their Chardonnay and bought a few bottles.

Bill T.

Yelp
Like our review, most are 5 stars but the two star review from the group who showed up late (near closing time) is just not justified. Yes these days you need a reservation--not everywhere but foxen makes it clear that it is preferred. Yes these days it costs $20-30 to taste a flight of wine and you usually don't keep the glass (thank goodness--I have dozens from decades of wine tasting). The setting was marvelous, the service was impeccable and knowledge of the servers was extensive. Glad they had a charcuterie plate as wine with food especially in such a relaxed atmosphere is always preferred. As most places, some wines were very good and some not for us--that's why there are so many different types of wine for different taste preferences. Foxen, don't change a thing, it was a nice experience.

Rich S.

Yelp
Excellent wines and a wonderful tasting room. We normally take our out-of-state friends to Foxen 7200, but the flagship is a fine alternative. Foxen has done an excellent job with their outdoor setup, and the seated areas are very comfortable. The fifth star for this review is for Micaela. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting experience, and she was a delight to converse with. She's also a foodie, and obviously loves the art of pairing her wines. Thanks for the Spencer's pork chop tip, Micaela!!! Cheers! RS

Yelp
I have visited Santa Barbara wine country a few times now. The last time was a decade ago and I remember I loved Foxen. At the time, it was little more than a barn with a bar/tasting room. It was very low-key and the wines were excellent. I was excited to bring my friend here who had never been to wine country before. I was pretty disappointed. Not only did we not like any of their wines, save for a Pinot Noir which was decent, we weren't given much to taste compared to the other dozen wineries we visited, and we weren't exactly made to feel welcome. A decade ago, you could breeze in, chat up the sommelier, try wines for a few bucks and keep the glass. Now, you have to make reservations and you're stuck sitting there for an hour or so. The wineries charge you way more, you have to stay there for an hour or so, and you don't get a glass to keep. I'm not complaining here - all wineries do this now - make sure you plan for over an hour at each place you visit. The other wineries do a better job managing this new way that Foxen. These days, you need a reservation. You pay a lot more than you used to for the privilege of trying their wines they want to sell you. You are also stuck there for an hour, usually 90 minutes, instead of being able to keep your own schedule. You also don't get to keep the glass. Now, most wineries make up for this by doing two things: 1) Give you more wine with each pour. You're paying for it, for sure, so most places give you a much more generous pour than before. 2) Being welcoming and informative about their wines. Most places are passionate about their wines and will happily tell you about them and are really nice about it all. At Foxen, we were late for our reservation. This is because it is nearly impossible to predict how long you'll be at any one vineyard, how long the drive is to the next place, etc. It is quite stressful which is the opposite feeling you want when driving around beautiful Santa Barbara. But yes, we were late. Our waitress/sommelier said they'd be closing at 4, so we had like 45 minutes. We didn't get much to try of each wine - it was like pre-covid amounts. Our waitress was not as helpful or pleasant as all others we had met that week. And since we had been "scolded" for being late, we tried to leave as fast as we could - and when we did leave, there will still MANY people still seated enjoying the day. We didn't enjoy many of their wines, and possibly our treatment there colored that experience. I did pick up a bottle of Pinot and if it holds up I'll note it here. When Foxen was a shack, it was fun to visit, because it wasn't some overblown giant winery trying to cater to the masses. Now, Foxen has become a now forgettable destination in this gorgeous area. They have built out all these large buildings and have forgotten how to treat their customers and their wine. Skip this one on your visit.

Yelp
My family and I have been Foxen members for a few years now and it only gets better and better. We went wine tasting this past weekend and of course, we went to Foxen. The staff is always wonderful and the scenery is magnificent. Their pinots are always outstanding. I can't wait to go back. I wish I could live there lol.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Visisted both the winery and the shack. Both were great. Foxen Winery & Vineyard 7600 Foxen Canyon Road, Santa Maria, CA 93454 French Style Burgundy and Pinot Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Syrah Foxen 7200 aka The Shack 7200 Foxen Canyon Road, Santa Maria, CA 93454 Built in the 1860's focus on Bordeaux and Italian-style wines. Syrah

Yelp
We hit Foxen for a tasting on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, because my Aunt and Uncle in Santa Barbara are fans, but mostly because they were the only winery open. The wines were middling, although I liked the Chardonnay (and my wife and I usually hate Chardonnay). Mostly we were dumbfounded that there is no food sold, since it is usually such an easy way for wineries to make money. We had brought some snacks, since we were warned in advance -- the only food available were some oyster crackers to cleanse the palate during a tasting.

Erin O.

Yelp
I used to come here 12 years ago when the vibes were more chill and less "file them in and out." They sat us under a tin awning full of tables that were facing a wall. Meanwhile, right up the walkway were open tables overlooking the vines and fields. Perhaps they're trying to save pourer time from walking to and fro?? Although I did see multiple pourers. Worst of all, the wine was meh - super mediocre. I think they've gone down hill in quality and are riding on their long term reputation, which is sad. But, yeah, I won't be back again. We tried all the wines they were offering searching for a decent one. The best one was their basic Chardonnay. Single varietal Pinots lacked complexity and depth. Too bad.

Bret B.

Yelp
Foxen is awesome! Two separate tasting rooms - Bordeaux style wines are served in the "rustic" barn about a quarter mile from where they have a "new" barn that is really nice and serve Bourgogne and Rhone style wines. Staff was pleasant. I loved all the wine and joined the club. I thoroughly enjoyed all the tasting. I especially liked the Pinot and Chardonnay (and don't usually drink white). It is a bit of a drive to get here from Santa Barbara but worth it. Enjoy*****

David M.

Yelp
Boy, this used to be a great place. What happened? The service was fine and friendly enough. We were seated at a picnic table behind the tasting room (at 7600) and the grounds are covered in cedar wood chips. Immersed in the strong odor of cedar. How on earth can patrons taste wine with this strong odor surrounding you? Overall the landscaping was not very well cared for. General ambiance and presentation here is poor. I do like a rustic environment and I prefer the shack to this location. Wine temperatures were served too warm. It was also a warm day. Seems the issue here is management or ownership is neglecting the customer experience. Coasting . . . One final annoyance is the standard tasting menu says Rhone & Burgundian varietals on the header. There was 1 chardonnay and 1 Rhone blend, the other 4 wines were a Cab, Merlot/Petit Verdot blend, a Sangiovese/Merlot blend, and 1 Chenin Blanc.

Robert D.

Yelp
Nice variety of wine in a comfortable and picturesque setting, there were multiple wineries on the way over here and beyond, make sure your gas tank is full as there are no services in the winding canyon roads!

Ana S.

Yelp
Got to hang out with my family for Mother's Day weekend at this spot. My review is more focused on the staff as believe it or not I didn't drink the wine ( don't like wine), so was just chilling with the family while they were wine tasting. Back to the staff though, super friendly and attentive and from my non wine drinker POV they were on it when catering to my mom, brother and fiancé. We were there for over an hour. My brother brought a cheese and meats plate from another business which is recommended as Foxen only has wines. The weather was great and the overall ambiance of the place was low key if you're avoiding the crowds. Felt super safe and staff wore masks at all times when serving.

McKenzie S.

Yelp
Guys! There are two -- yes, two! -- locations. One being the main tasting room located at this address, the other a little further north that they have dubbed "the shack" which served Bordeaux style reds while the tasting room showcases their pinot's and whites. We arrived around 11 on Saturday to a quiet tasting room. It was gorgeous all around with beautiful flowers and landscaping. They offered two different flights. One was all pinot's and the other a mix of reds and whites. Since there were two couples we were able to try both. I loved being able to taste different vineyards of Pinot's. Each one with it's own distinct profile. Our hostess, whose name I've forgotten, was extremely pleasant and informative. I wouldn't hesitate to visit this boutique winery again!

Foodie B.

Yelp
Dog friendly and delicious wines! We were hosted by Helen and Tamara and they were such great ambassadors that walked us through the history of the vineyards, wines, food pairing suggestions and the different offerings. We (and our pups!) truly enjoyed the experience and left with some bottles and of course some swag! Being in the wine industry myself, I appreciate an experience that goes above and beyond to educate me on the wines. Thank you Helen and Tamara for hosting us! Outstanding job and we can't wait to visit again very soon. Cheers!

Patrick S.

Yelp
I loved this place. Bought a bottle and hung out. Wine was great. Location beautiful and staff friendly.

Shawn S.

Yelp
Love love love! We went to both the old "shack" tasting room as well as the newer one down the road. Both had great wines, the shack had greater diversity and the new tasting room focused on pinot noir. We joined the club. Every wine we tried, whether it be rose, pinot, whatever were all great. The new tasting room had a beautiful outdoor seating area, live music, flowers, etc. If you are going to join a wine club in this area, consider this one. It's not a big name like Cambria, or owned by a celebrity like Firestone - but after all, it's all about the wine.

R. S.

Yelp
We have visited Foxen multiple times in past years. The wines were good enough to bring a few bottles home to enjoy. After this year's visit, we are probably going to be taking it off our list of places to revisit. Wineries are always at the mercy of the climate as well as things like wildfires--and most recently the covid-19 pandemic. However, after visiting other wineries in the area, this winery might be suffering from another issue: poor winemaking. As it was the first stop of a four winery visiting day, there could be no other possible reason other than their wines are just not as good as they used to be. We even tried two tasting flights--a Pinot flight and a mixture of red and white. The whites tasted weak and in some cases tasted like an ice cube had been left in the glass to melt. The reds were unimpressive and again some almost tasted watered down. As always seems to be the case, I made a comment that I would like the last red on the list as it was the most expensive (a $75 Cabernet Sauvignon). I was right, it tasted pretty good, but not $75 good. I would hate to count this place out just yet, but if the upcoming year's wines are a good as their current bottles--we won't be back. There are better wines out there, don't waste your time this year.

Thomas M.

Yelp
I started this review a month ago and then forgot about, but as fate would have it, on a return trip from NY to Solvang to get married, we popped in here. It's nice when people remember you and they did. Gave us a nice congrats, an extra pour and some of the regular staff came out to say hello. We had a tasting at the shack which we were delighted to see open and prospering, their pinot was delightful as always and we bought 3 bottles for the weekend. 5/5 on the tasting room as always, and their wine 'tastes like Santa ynez' as my brother said.

Cassandra Y.

Yelp
The Service: They have two tasting rooms. We love the little shack location. That tasting room is a little bit small but lots character. There is nice outdoor seating area. The other tasting room is newer and more modern. They also sell other retail items other than wines. All the staffs are very knowledgeable and helpful. They give great recommendation on choosing wines. The Parking: private lot

Mary R.

Yelp
We left Rancho Sisquoc and came upon Foxen. We missed the original winery known as the "shack" we saw it but had passed it too quickly so we stopped here instead. With a Yelp check-in here, we were able to do a two-for-one. We tried the flight menu of Rhône and Burgundian varietals. The wines were good, but would say the Pinot Noir was my favorite having the strongest bouquet. There's an interesting story about the logo. I wished we'd gone to the Shack but there may still be time while we are here.

Michael G.

Yelp
I'm in the wine business and have been a HUGE fan of Foxen wines for some time. My wife and I booked a trip to the area with some friends and they left it to me to arrange a winery visit. Foxen was at the top of my list. We had such a wonderful experience - I looked like a hero! I have visited countless tasting rooms and wineries all over the world and, when I say that Tamara was one of the best hosts I've ever had the pleasure of tasting with, I am not exaggerating. She was extremely knowledgeable about the winery, the region, and the wines. Her passion and enthusiasm were contagious. She was both welcoming and informative and she really elevated the whole experience. The setting was great - though the wind was blowing pretty fiercely the day we visited. The wines, across the board, from the whites to the rosé to the reds (Pinots and Syrahs) were excellent. They are thoughtful wines of balance and restraint that clearly show the differences in the vineyard locations and clones. They are not cookie-cutter wines that all taste the same. We bought over a case of wine! I couldn't recommend this winery any more highly. What a great place! We'll definitely be back anytime we are in the area.

Rachel M.

Yelp
The wine here is decent - but, they are incredibly stingy with their pours. Keep in mind, what they pour here will be less than half of what you expect to receive at other wine tastings. In short, the vineyards are beautiful to see and picnic at, but if you're looking for an actual wine tasting experience, don't expect to find it here.

Kristian D.

Yelp
Foxen was one of the highlights of my trip to the central coast. Their large winery is located closer to Santa Maria than Los Olivos on Foxen Canyon Road. The winery has two tasting rooms - the original shack with a very rustic atmosphere and the modern room just down the road. I chose the modern room to experience their Pinot Noir selection. Finding a group of industry people in the room was a good sign I was in the right place. My Pinot flight was excellent with several vineyards from all over the region to really get a sample of their large offering. The winery has many other options, but the Pinot flight is only available at the modern tasting room. The wine is rather expensive, but you are paying for real quality. The modern room is open with lots of windows and a great staff. There is a patio with the requisite super cute winery dog and lots of room to Rhone. If I had more time and had not already sampled other wineries, I would have loved the shack too. The tasting fee is proportional to the price point of the wine and is rather steep, especially with a six bottle refund. This is a recommended spot to spend the afternoon. Foxen has two distinct tasting rooms with many flights, allowing you to visit several "wineries" without traveling very far. The Pinots are worth a stop, but the overall winery is worth your time and more.

Cherry B.

Yelp
The enjoyment of a wine tasting experience depends on several factors: quality of wine, service experience, and setting (to name 3). I would give the Foxen experience a 5, then a 5, then a 4. The ladies who served us were knowledgeable about wine, or knowledgeable enough to converse w us and make the experience lively, fun and informative. The wines were all delicious. Foxen is a class act; no need for a hard sell on becoming a club member. Although we didn't expect to, the experience was so positive that we joined.

Monica C.

Yelp
Tamara was our wonderful server. It was obvious she is a hard worker and loves what she does. She has great knowledge on each of the wines. If you love pinots, you will love their pinot flight. Very quiet and mature winery.

Jeff B.

Yelp
(Tasted 12/20/16 TU @ 2:00pm): We hounded this place as if we were chasing a fox! For her birthday, a wine-drinking friend and I followed the Foxen Canyon Rd. to Foxen Vineyard as we tried to maximize a "2016 Santa Barbara Wine Passport" I purchased earlier in the year, which gave access to over twenty vineyards with various promotional deals. This particular winery had a 2-for-1 passport deal AND a Yelp Check-In offer ($15.00 for two tastings). As I've always said, "Discounts on any kind of alcohol was always a plus in my book"! Was our 3rd stop worth it!?: Tasting Flight - 5 Tastings ($15.00 x 2) - Selections were nicely varied. And unlike many tastings I've partaken in, theirs was less conducive for note-taking (i.e. no available taster notecards or writing instruments). Honestly, wineries do consumers a huge disservice when this easy amenity wasn't provided. Having said that, here were my cloudy tasting recollections. Again, by no means am I an oenophile - just a simple lush who enjoyed wine: ~2014 Sauvignon Blanc ($28.00): I was a sucker for a pleasantly gentle sweet white wine I could drink on a warm day and this was it...so I bought a bottle https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qCrAGWJ2gtevk-6jqgRRjA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ~2013 Cabernet Sauvignon: Full body with dark berries and medium acidity on the palate https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5ZGHhO95KMFsaXD879LNaw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ~2013 Cabernet Franc: Very dry that left me parch https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=u1b6tphyB4g5j9jg0Av3_w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ~2013 Guillermo Grosso: A complexity of dry sweetness and high tannins https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Fo1-yKojG1-xUNTNykRccw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. ~2013 Sangiovese: Nice semi-sweetness https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=WmtZfGt4XUJ7B6YZI_m9hQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Wine And Chocolate Truffle Flight - 4 Tastings ($20.00) - A tray of delectable treats paired with similar wines we were already tasting https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=OoiSIuiHr6bTOPKBLJKQnw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Yeah...we both dove into the sweets before I realized I never got a picture, so obviously we enjoyed them!: ~2013 Mission: The only "different" one of the bunch, this was more of a dessert wine that would've stood better on its own rather than paired with a piece of chocolate https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qLlQdjZrbTGHBEIPNTneYA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Service - Two women easily handled the handful of customers who were also tasting. We found a spot at the counter, showed the passport, and off we went on a sipping journey. Had they not mentioned the chocolate tasting, we wouldn't have known. All went smoothly as they at times had heavier pours. And, I left with a bottle and wine tote for their troubles; great job, ladies https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=zDNhDXEwB5A3BugN6fyjkw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Parking (FREE) - They had their own medium-sized private lot - 'nuff said. Atmosphere, décor, ambience - This original tasting room was located inside "The Shack", an historic 1860's wooden blacksmith shop off the side of the road. As you approached from the dirt parking lot you passed through an inviting exposed outdoor patio with chairs, tables, and umbrellas to kick back and relax https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=RodmnRvPMTNtTL1clcTEQw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Once inside, the smallish layout was simply an L-shaped tasting counter, merchandise displayed for purchase, and various odds-and-ends hung on the walls. Plenty of natural lighting came through the two large wooden side doors while I honestly couldn't remember if there was any electric lighting. I didn't recall any TVs but music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=JVaBHRYas53lffgUrECZsg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Attire - Business casual out of respect for the art of wine tasting, so I would normally be in a buttoned-up shirt, pants, and covered-toe shoes. Overall, my afternoon at Foxen Vineyard was a blast as we chatted with the two women workers and the kind older couple we tasted next to from the Westside. Although I was happy to visit a winery I'd never been to, the majority of their wines were pleasing to me. Apparently, they were known for their Pinot Noirs but none were part of the tasting (which was fine by me). Please take my criticism with a grain of salt since wine tasting was completely subjective from one person's palate to the next. The service was wonderful, and bottle prices were a tad high. Wine glasses weren't included. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $65.00 AFTER discount; no tip required). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Yelp
Foxen was our first stop, we figured we'd go out and work our way back in. Friendly gals working the tasting room. 2 for 1 coupon from the Buellton Visitor Center but not my style wine. Blame my pallet on the 3 star rating, not me ;) We should have hit the Shack once learning of it, I prefer big reds and I'm no longer a fan of Pinots and never have cared for Syrah so nothing struck my fancy here. I did however leave with a bottle of their 2012 Chardonnay Estate Grown-Dry Farmed Tinaquaic Vineyard. I believe it was the second white we tried and it's perfect for summer. I don't usually drink white and as the day went on there were a couple other whites that I actually preferred to this bottle. Next time, we'll hit 7200!

Yelp
Love this winery, very nice tasting area and the wines are divine. Absolutely worth driving out Foxen Canyon Road to discover this gem!! The staff is friendly and so very knowledgeable but not pushy about joining the club etc., highly recommend stopping for a tasting, very reasonably priced too!!

Yelp
This vineyard is a bit of a distance down the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. There are actually two tasting rooms within 300 yards a part. There is the larger, newer tasting room that offers many Pinot Noirs and the older original tasting room or what they call "the shack". This location has bigger bolder wines that are equally delightful. Try their new Cabernet Sauvignon "Los Potreros", one of the best cabs in the region! At the new tasting room they have a nice quiet picnic area, and comfortable tasting room to enjoy. They have clean restrooms and are pet friendly. Tasting fee is $15 per person. The "Shack" location is literally in a shack! No heaters and no air conditioning, basically an exterior tasting room with a roof! The small shack does have charm , character, and was Featured in the movie Sideways! They have some Tables just outside the shack, but I wouldn't say this is a good place for a picnic. Also, they have ports potties only! Tasting fee is also $15.

Yelp
We were on our way home from a weekend away and decided to stop at one of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail wineries. Foxen Vineyard was easy to find and ended up being a great choice! We arrived at the main tasting room and heard some lovely live music but decided to do flights at the Shack. We were feeling like tasting bigger reds that they have at the Shack instead of the Burgundian styles like Pinot/Chard that they have available at the main TR. The Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious and everything I love in a Cab. We couldn't pass up buying a bottle and honestly, wish we could've gotten a case! Worth the price point and great for Cab lovers. We also got to try a tasty Sangiovese and loved it. Thank you to Jordan for being an excellent host and educating us on each wine, the history of the area, and all about Foxen! We'll be back.

Yelp
We went to Foxen winery is part of a wine tour with a group of physicians from Kaiser Permanente Hospital. We were delighted to try wines with the owners, Jenny and Dick, of the winery who were there to greet us. It was an amazing experience and the wines were top notch. We especially love the Pinot noir (clone number 43) which you really have to try. We ended up buying over $400 with the wine because we just couldn't say no to amazing experience and flavors. We also ate lunch there at their picnic tables and the winery grounds were beautiful. Everyone working at the winery was so nice, we can't say enough great things about this winery. I'm so glad this was recommended to us by Andrew Murray of Andrew Murray Vineyards. He told us that this was among the best wineries in the entire region (his included).

Yelp
The wines here are always great. Visited about a month ago and very trepidatious given COVID. Staff did a great job of distancing and providing an outdoor experience that felt safe. And as always, amazing wines and gorgeous scenery. One of my favorites in the area.

Yelp
Outdoor seating was the same you seen in city parks...highly functional but lacking ambiance and comfort. The wine was ok. There was music coming from the warehouse nearby - had there been any in the tasting space, maybe the scene would have been better. The history of the winery is cool, but the wine did not stand out. The staff was friendly enough.

Yelp
Beautiful property and enjoyable wines. While the tastings are preselected there were three tasting menus to try from. (It still bums me out you can't try what you want from the menu like other wine regions, but each region has different rules.) We tried the Heritage tasting and the mixed tasting. The Heritage only has three wines but it is slightly less expensive than the mixed which offered six wines. We also got an additional tasting of an off menu Cabernet which was nice. Our server was friendly and made us feel welcome! Well worth a visit!

Yelp
We come up to our beautiful local wine area from SB regularly. Each time we go and try out one new vineyard plus one or two of our regular hunting grounds. Foxen (The Shack) was the second out of three vineyards. Lunch and a walk to clear our palates did not help. The flight of 5 was average tasting, one was clearly overpriced for the quality. The sample amount was very small ( thimble full). However, it did not matter too much considering the quality. Maybe we will give them another try in a couple of years, maybe the new Foxen location (mainly Pinot Noir) is better and worth a try.

Yelp
What a great experience at the shack and the wine tasting room. Awesome wine and great experience. We are now members of Foxen and glad to be part of the "family"! Thank you for producing great wines and representing a great label! Cheers!

Yelp
Foxen was one of the friendlier, least pretentious and most generous of the wineries we visited on this trip...at both locations (hic). While I wasn't that impressed with any of the pressings tasted, I bought a dessert wine for an after-dinner celebration of life this winter. I have much to celebrate. Maybe I should have bought more... P.S., during our tasting, they offered us free anchor tattoos. I declined cuz daddy would spank me if he found out. Then later (after a couple sips) thought WTH, and said "Fuck it!", see my tattoo...(spank away, Daddy). Has this ever happened to you?

Yelp
Had a lovely time at Foxen Winery the other day. It was near the end of the day but everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The tastings are plentiful with a wide range of choices. I splurged on the Fe Ciega Vineyard Pinot and am so glad I did. One of the best I've ever had. Treat yourself!

Yelp
Hubby and I shared a tasting here. Definitely some of the best pinot I have had in a while and probably the best I had on this entire tasting trip. The girl who helped us out was terrific. Had we more time I would have checked out their "shack" tasting room. Next time, for sure. Foxen is a definite contender for next tasting club I join after I divorce one (or five) of my others... And hey, you can't beat a place that gives out awesome temporary tattoos!
