13 Marvelous Maps That Go Way Beyond Paper

"Many of France’s greatest monuments are compactly spread across 12 acres in a western suburb of Paris. A meandering road leads visitors through this France Miniature, an outdoor park mirroring France that allows guests to traverse the country and delight in its landmarks in less than a day. With 116 of the most notable structure at a 1/30 scale, the France Miniature offers a strange but delightful Lilliputian view of the country. The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Chateau at Versailles, Lourdes, the Chateau of Chambord, La Rochelle, L’abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, and the Amiens Cathedral are just a few of the monuments placed almost exactly relative to one another in their real life locations. Carefully chosen music complements select monuments to enhance the roughly three and a half hour trek. Nearly 150 regional landscapes sprawl across this miniature map, intersected with 3.5 kilometers of railroad lines consisting of 13 animated trains. Additionally animated by planes, cars, and ships (over 100), visitors can steer model boats on ‘Atlantic Ocean’ and ‘Mediterranean Sea’ lagoons that border the park, or admire the hand painted figures that fill the Stade de France. An indoor area showcases the interiors of 50 more prestigious places, faithfully reproduced to the most minute detail. It took nearly fifty model makers and landscape architects to create this interactive downsized country, complete with 60,000 figurines and 20,000 dwarfed trees, 5 rives and estuaries, and 5 acres of ‘sea.’ A small theme park is also located in the area, offering more appropriately sized rides. A 9 meter slide, roller coaster, twirling swing, rise and drop tower, small gondola, slip-n-slide climb, and go kart driving are available to both children and adults. France Miniature is owned by the same company, Grevin & Cie., that operates the Parc Asteriz, an amusement park notable for its collection of unique roller coasters." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Google
It’s a beautiful place where you can find all most all of France monuments, arts, architecture and history all in one place..! Just 1 hour drive from Paris…! Parking is 5 € for the entire day and entry fee is 27€ for adult and 22€ for kids …!

Google
Severally under rated theme park in the Parisian region. The amount of dedication, attention to detail and thought has gone in to this park is commendable. You get to visit in a few hours, 116 of France's most celebrated landmarks. There are small toy trains and cars on miniature highways throughout the park. A great attraction for kids and adults. Highly recommend.

Google
Excellent experience, 5 euros for all day car park, play area for kids, indoor area too, gift shop and cafe shops. Not crowded at all. Huge area for walk. Kids under 12 go free ( online booking)

Google
It’s nice, kid friendly, but a little bit boring for the ones who care about details and want to live the experience from the inside, it’s nice to see everything from above, but for me i prefer the details from the inside , the thought of reliving the past or the centuries for example we went to Versailles palace and we saw it in this park, it’s nice to see how huge it is from above but the details and feeling of seeing what is inside always tops that outer view. Again it’s nice to see everything from above and to see how many touristic places there are in france, they also state where everything is in France and the sound of every monument is also nice( for the churches they have extra sound to feel it’s reality) .

Google
Amazing experience - perfect for kids but also adults (French or tourist) who want to learn more about the French history and famous places to visit. They also have 8 attractions (including fort boyard that was very much loved by my 8 years old niece) in the middle of the tour. We spent 7 hours, and absolutely loved it !

Google
Quite relaxing and a quick way to discover all places of attractions across all the cities of France. It lived up to its name

I would recommend the place! It is very nice. It is very interesting how they have this kind of structure in a park. You can see the whole France in just one day and learn history! The staffs are very welcoming. We had so much fun last Sunday!

Google
A nice place to visit. We were surprised to see around us 5 buses with kids various ages which created a "childish" and noisy entrance. However, the place is so large that eventually you don't feel the congestion. The miniatures are nicely made and we enjoyed them more and more as we moved along the guiding brochure. There are over 100 miniatures made with trains running around. All that makes the wondering around quite joyful. Some miniatures are more appealing, some are less. But bottom line we did enjoy the visit. Recommended.

Yelp
France Miniature is just what it sounds like, all the major landmarks and iconic places in France downsized into Miniature models. This park features everything from the Eiffel Tower, arc de triomphe, Notre Dame, to the various Chateau's (Castles) in France. I believe there was about 80-100 Miniature models all numbered in which you cna follow a path from beginning to end. This park has a few dining areas, restrooms, and and several fun rides that are self operated. If you have extra time in addition with visiting the larger scale landmarks in France, I definitely recommend France Miniature.

Yelp
The miniature buildings and monuments are very well made and reasonably well maintained. However, their arrangement bears little relationship with actual geography. Young children have lots of fun from the multitude of miniature trains running around. Older children can enjoy the few rides, although there are not many, compared to the larger amusement parks. Safety-wise, It is astonishing that some low-but-not-zero-risk rides are unmanned. Good location for family outing, but not a must go-to destination.

Yelp
This place got off to a very very bad start with me, but spent the rest of the time making It up to me. Firstly..the location of this place is a nightmare. From the centre of Paris it took us 2 metro trains, an overland suburban train and finally a bus which left us stranded on a roundabout at a bus stop that was called France Miniature, but still no sign of the park. Eventually we were able to cross a road and walk for almost 10 minutes and find the entrance. The fun had only just started however as at the entrance we met a girl and 2 tills. We wanted to pay entry and a drink after our trek to get there. The catch, you could not pay for both at the same till and both tills were broken. A swearing supervisor arrived but didn't make things much better so we were quite annoyed when we were finally able to get into the park. From there things got better however. I knew Paris was spoilt, with some of the most majestic sights in the world, what I hadn't realized is quite how much there is in the rest of France. The amount of times we found ourselves we found ourselves determining that we had to go and see the full size version of one of the miniatures was evidence of that. The staff got better too. We ate at the restaurant, where a funny and friendly waiter served us food of a quality much better than what you expect to find in a tourist attraction (but then..it is France). Also at the end of our visit to the park another worker there helped us call a taxi to get back to the station (the buses stop before the park closes.this is the kind of thing that only happens in France!) Also worth a mention are the distractions from the main event and very entertaining they are too. First the kids toy car driving track with its spooky music is worth a look if visiting with kids, then there are some slides, a ride that takes you up across the water in the air on a chair suspended from a cable and another one that takes you up a ramp in a boat before you shoot down and jump into the water (there is a small bump at the end to send you flying). The last 2 I mention are self operated and they were tremendous fun. You can't help thinking 'lawsuit waiting to happen' mind you and we weren't surprised to see an ambulance arrive for someone who had taken a tumble. In conclusion. A fun day out if you can get there. Try not to hurt yourself!

Yelp
Great ideabut needs more upkeep. You've got all of France laid out pretty realistically over about 10 acres of undulating, landscaped property, complete with rivers, the 'Mediterranean Sea' and minuature monuments and towns. It's lovely to walk through it, taking your time, following the map, visiting the different 'regions'. But miniatures could use some renovating. All of them, not just the one that was labelled 'under renovation'. That was disappointing after paying 18.50 euros to get in. I could see how spending a day there with the family could be worth it though: there are shaded picnic areas and rides. Other pluses: the bathrooms were clean and the place was NOT crowded (at least on a June weekday).
