How to Plan a Trip to Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire

"A few miles west of the mountain at the Franconia Inn, this pub offers après festivities every Saturday, featuring fireside pub grub and weekly "tap takeovers" by breweries from around New England." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This is a beautiful Inn. Classic furniture throughout. Fantastic meals in the dining room. Nice room downstairs to watch a movie. We didn't spend any time in the pub, so can't comment on that. Convenient location to all of the White Mountains....though there is plenty to do within 30 minutes of the Inn. ALL of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They all appeared to like where they worked....and that is a good feeling. Went for a horseback ride....again, GREAT staff! Pool and hot tub looked great, but we didn't go in. (I think it is a heated pool, too). Tennis courts, pickleball, bike shop is next door, and really cool glider rides available across the street. ||ONLY drawbacks....which are problems we have found in many newer hotels....drains in the bath and sink were a bit slow, and the box spring/mattress combo were a bit on the "weak" side. But, not overly-so. We didn't notice any real noise issue (some squeaky flooring....normal for a cool, old, hardwood-floored Inn), but no real room-to-room noise issues.||All in all, we spent a weekend and really enjoyed the stay. Would recommend this Inn to friends for a nice, relaxing stay or base location for White Mountain journeys.

Fantastic place to enjoy New Hampshire and the White Mountains. Excellent and comfortable facility/room. Superb cleanliness. Very welcoming and courteous staff. Staff gave great advice on hiking, etc. Great dinner at a leisurely pace one night and wonderful continental breakfast. Also, they were especially kind and accomodating for my gluten free/celiac disease dietary restriction.|I’d love to return some day!!!

Location is perfect. We stayed in the Inn Suite, and it was very comfortable, quiet, and clean. The balcony was nice for watching the horses and star-gazing. The front desk staff was excellent. Breakfast was very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

This is an absolutely gorgeous inn in Franconia NH. The rooms and beds were quite comfortable, the inn is gorgeous and well maintained. The highlight for us was how incredibly helpful and friendly the staff was there! To the two ladies who worked the afternoon and night shift to the young gal at the front desk when we checked out- the service was simply amazing! We loved our horseback ride today and the horses and trail guides were simply the best! I cannot recommend this place enough! My friend and I were bummed that their restaurant and pub weren’t open on Tuesday and Wednesday night but the staff was so helpful at recommending restaurants and things to do. They have a binder in each room with many pages with all of the area info. Talking with two of the guests on the first night who had done an e bike adventure that day- they were so impressed by Bob and how helpful he was in guiding them to places. I highly encourage people to stay there!!!

Beautiful spot in Franconia and off the beaten path but easy access to freeway to get around the area. Relaxing sitting on the porch and watching the hang gliders across the road. Dinners were very good with plenty of options. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. We will be back.

We stayed at the Franconia Inn for two nights over the weekend and had a wonderful experience. Even though we had to check in very late at midnight, the inn was extremely accommodating and made the process smooth and stress-free.||Our room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, with just the right New England charm. The common areas were equally inviting—warm, welcoming, and perfect for relaxing between outings. The continental breakfast was excellent, with a nice selection and great quality that set us up for the day.||Overall, the Franconia Inn combines charm, comfort, and great hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Google
This location really worked for us, being between White Mountain and Franconia State Park. The people were friendly and the food was good. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool. Only down side for us was that there was no TV in the room, the room did not have black out shades and the sink water tasted a little rusty( we just went downstairs for the free water). All in all a good trip.

Google
We hosted 75 friends and family for a 4-day wedding weekend at the Franconia Inn. The perfect inn - in an ideal setting. With a super-accommodating staff and lovely rooms, the Franconia Inn has everything needed to host a rehearsal dinner, throw a welcome party for 150 people, and provide lovely accommodations in a traditional New England inn. Lovely pub, various sitting spaces for our guests to enjoy. Two awesome porches. Did I mention friendly staff that accommodated every request?|We look forward to returning to the inn again soon!

Yelp
A nice Inn but very dated and a bit under maintained. Very quiet and relaxing. Folks are friendly. Four of us ate dinner at Peaks Pub downstairs. Overall it was an "okay" experience. The food was a 6. Beverages were short. The flourless chocolate cake was flat. Bread pudding was average. Waitress was a touch pushy. But I think she was just trying to make sure we were happy. I do think their drinks are overpriced. Example: one shot of scotch was $15.00. There was a beautiful red propane stove in our suite that was inoperative. Unfortunately, there was a very noticeable septic smell throughout the Inn. I will consider other Inns when we return.

Yelp
The Inn Suite was an infested with ladybugs--I even had one crawling on me while trying to sleep! The bathroom door didn't close all the way, and the newly renovated bathroom (done DIY style) had uneven tiles sharp enough to cut your foot! The towel holder was rusty, the lights didn't dim, and there was a TV mount with no TV. They stripped away the charming Victorian wallpaper and replaced it with plain paper (done diy again) because it was already peeling off. Dead bugs collected in the corners where they hadn't vacuumed. Worse, there was no heat because they hadn't turned it on yet! They gave me a space heater that was either too hot or too cold. The outdoor paddocks were cluttered with extra wood fencing, making the view from my balcony ugly and messy. No food service Monday through Thursday, and they replaced the once-fresh coffee and four-star breakfast with bagels and cereal. The tennis courts had grass growing on them, and the barn's broken windows and peeling siding looked neglected. Cold air and flies seeped in through window ACs, and they even took away the rocking chairs. The parking lot is in terrible condition--uneven, with water pooling everywhere, and no lighting, so you inevitably end up stepping in it! They took away the personal touches and charm. Shame. Horses were well fed and bed was very comfortable. Mia at the front desk was great.

Yelp
Dinner in Peak's Pub. Atmosphere, Food, Service and Cocktails were exceptional! Nice to see a local establishment busy and full of happy people.

Yelp
A delightful stay! I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Franconia Inn which was the perfect getaway. One highlight was their pub - a cozy seat next to the stone fireplace, dinner, drinks all while enjoying the live music. A combination of an inviting atmosphere, friendly service and the peaceful setting makes this Inn a standout choice.

Yelp
Our family has been visiting Franconia for decades but this is the first time we stayed at Franconia Inn, and we will definitely be back. Last time we were in town we ate at the Rathskeller Pub in the ground floor of the Inn and the kids had been talking about it ever since, so we decided to stay at the Inn this weekend per our children's request. We booked two nights in the adjoining rooms on the second floor. One room has a double bed and the other has two twin beds. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, with soft Garnet Hill bedspreads and gorgeous cherry and oak furniture. The bathroom was tiny with older tile, but very clean, and sufficient for our needs. There are no TVs in the bedrooms, which is good because noise travels well through the hallways into the rooms. There are TVs on in the pub during dinner, and there's a theater room in the basement. There are lots of reminders at the Inn about keeping kids quiet in the hallways, but I didn't hear any kids making noise--instead I heard some sauced up older folks returning to their rooms in the middle of the night! Which I found amusing. The Inn is an older structure, constructed with traditional New England materials, and is very well cared for. Staying at the Inn is like traveling back in time in some ways, and somehow encourages conversation between guests. There's a front porch, a large screened in porch, a library, and a few fireplaces. It's very clean, the staff is friendly, and there's lots to do during the summer right in the immediate area. Included with the stay is use of the four clay tennis courts (borrow rackets and tennis balls from the desk), a pool and hot tub, ping pong, a watering hole, and even bikes and helmets to borrow for a few hours at a time. Also on site (but not included in the nightly rate) are two restaurants, retro arcade games, a horse stable, and a glider airport. The first floor dining room is quaint and a bit formal (requiring reservations), while the Pub is casual and louder (more forgiving of people with kids), and has patio seating. The pool is older but heated, with plenty of seating on the deck. If you choose to experience the old fashioned hospitality of the Franconia Inn I highly recommend taking a soak in the hot tub at twilight while surrounded by nature before retiring to your room and listening to the bullfrogs while you fall asleep

Yelp
old and needs updating. Dining room not open despite having made a reservation. Water coming out of faucet is brown. This property needs a rehab.

Yelp
A total gem....! Chose the inn for a weekend getaway to take in one of the first snowfalls of the season..... Hiked in the region and came back to a roaring fireplace in the pub, live music for the "apres ski" crowd, a trip to the hot tub, a great bowl of chili and charcuterie board/great cocktails. This is a family run business and you can tell....friendly, comfortable and a great sense of pride in taking care of every guest. We are already planning our next visit.

Yelp
stayed with large group over new years. building is quaint, common rooms are pretty. Bedrooms are old and dingy, most toilets in bathrooms weren't working due to a pipe issue, hot water wasn't working in some rooms for most of an entire morning into the afternoon Mgt. attitude about it was very unconcerned. I was offered a bottle of water so that we could flush the toilet. the rooms have no TVs- so be advised. Also the restaurant and pub are only open on weekends. they both were open New Years Eve. Pub offered mediocre, salad chicken wings and sandwiches for $25 per head and restaurant charged $85 for a real meal. Also- the pub/basement area stinks like an overflowing septic tank and the hot-tub is old and dingy. Overall, the place is run down, in an isolated area with no dining options nearby. Mgt. and staff were nice, but not really serious about running a "hospitality" business.

Dana B.

Yelp
From the moment you cross the front porch and enter the building you are immersed in the charm of this historic inn. Gleaming wooden floors, friendly Inn keepers, and a comfortable bed made our stay very nice. We enjoyed live music in the pub and ate dinner in front of a roaring fire which was welcome after a day of hiking one of the many excellent trails close to this property. I have stayed here many times over the past 15 years and the new owners are making some nice improvements and updates.

Yelp
My wife and I checked in on Friday January 20th. Parking was in a plowed lot. The inn was very welcoming upon arrival. We were greet at the front desk, handed our keys and given an explanation of the property. We booked the Inn Suite, since we appreciate having a little extra room. The room was nice, but keep in mind this is a old historical building and that is reflected in the suite. There is no television which is fine with us. Wifi is good and strong. We ate are meals both breakfast and dinner at the inn, first night in the pub and 2nd night in the dinning room. Food was good to excellent. Cocktails were nicely made and presented. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. There are a host of on site activities in the winter including xcountry skiing, hiking, skating and horse drawn sleigh. Tubing for the kids. Definitely a great experience and we will be going back again soon..

Yelp
Everything about this place was been wonderful, but 5 stars fails to do justice to Rose, the bartender at the pub. Rose is one of the most attentive and intuitive bartenders I've ever experienced. She was an expert at suggesting cocktails, and was a complete joy during the entire evening. We like to always go and find new places, but our experience at the pub alone would make us come back to the Franconia Inn.

Jim B.

Yelp
Disappointment, it's changed. For over 25 years I've loved coming to the Franconia Inn but our last visit was, our last. The charm of this inn for me has been it's locked in time. The restaurant was always wonderful with the charm of table cloths and a menu you could see in any fine restaurant. I fear what has happened is new ownership trying to fix problems they don't understand wasting money on un-needed renovations. Be nice to have hot water for example. The restaurants furniture has been replaced with what looks like Arizona upscale bar furniture. Esthetically it has nothing you'd expect to see in a quaint New England country inn let alone the Franconia with its wonderful real antique appointments. It is however in keeping with the revised "let's save a few bucks" bar menu. Gone is the 4 star menu replaced with a bar menu that does match the new furniture. We were so disappointed in the menu we chose to eat elsewhere. (See my review Dutch Treat Sports bar) The new owners were very nice and genuine but I don't think they understood the market when they bought this inn. Such a waist....

Yelp
Stayed 2 nights at this lovely Inn. Very well maintained and friendly folk. Mim, in the Peaks Pub, was an absolute delight. We ate and had drinks in the Pub 2 nights in a row-food was good and Mim is all about customer service. She is a true gem and an asset to the Inn.

Yelp
Feel like Home :) After a long day skied at Cannon Mt. we searched for a place to stay near by. This place is only 20 mins away from the Mt.! The property located away from a busy highway which created a feeling like home. Big fire place, cozy couches and the tea tables allowed us to sit down and relax anytime. A PLUS IS A GAME ROOM! Great breakfast too! I love their Egg bennies. Near by several places to hike such as Artist Bluff / bald mt. and Sugarloaf which we did all of those they suggested us too.

Yelp
My Uncle came from FL to visit. He a New England native, but had not spent time in the Whites for some time. He thoroughly enjoyed his stay. Very happy with the room, cleanliness, friendly staff, and location. He loves to read and had lovely evenings on the porch and in the common rooms. The dinning room served up a wonderful breakfast each morning, limited menu, but accomodating. The staff was helpful, attentive and friendly! He definitely will be back.

Jim D.

Yelp
Nice place but restaurant is a TOTAL bust. Went for breakfast and they had 8 items on the menu. Totally fine. So one person ordered the Belgium Waffles. "Oh were out of that". Would of been nice to have known before we ordered but that's fine. Not sure how one runs out of batter but again no big deal. We ended up ordering French Toast and Pancakes and bacon among other items. They bring the French toast and Pancakes out to the table and say "we are out of syrup". Lol. "We are also out of bacon so we brought you Canadian bacon". Unreal. Thought maybe we were being pranked it was so pathetic but come to find out we were not. Staff very apologetic and we come to find out it's under new ownership. New owners obviously not good at all. Stay away for now.

Yelp
Used to be our favorite restaurant in the area. Our last 2 experiences were horrendous. We went there in August for a 50th anniversary with our children The waiter was not up to the task of providing the service that you expect at a high end place He put his hands inside our wine glasses. He struggled with the cork. He brought out our entree and never gave us our salads. He told us he would bring them out and comp them. He returned to tell us he might comp them and finally said he would only charge us for one. We told him we did not want them We were charged for the salads anyway. Another server began to replace him and eventually took over. It was painful watching this poor man try to perform his duties. My children ordered a sheet cake from the inn . The cake came from a local supermarket They did not know what to charge us so they decided on 89 dollars! We went there tonight. We had a reservation for 6PM They could not seat us because the dining room was closed due to a lack of help. The front desk person told us that she did not get around to calling everyone to cancel STAY AWAY!!!!!
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
Rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast is very good with a nice variety of items cooked to order. Downstairs is a fun game room and pub area. Not a good choice if you want a romantic weekend if lots of children are staying in the inn( which was the case during our stay.) Since it's an older structure, noise really carries... And breakfast is a bit chaotic!

Yelp
What a wonderful place to visit. Stayed there for a night with a group of motorcycle friends on a recent trip around the Northeast. Incredible surrounding, scenery and atmosphere. Very accommodating to motorcyclists as our host there rides herself. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Lots of country charm there and warm fireplaces to sit and relax in front of. Rates were good and the group meal they made for us in a private room was just great. Put this on your list. It's on ours now for a return visit.
google avatar

Yelp
There seemed to be two large groups here occupying many of the rooms, so there wasn't the usual camaraderie one finds at a B&B. The inn is old, needing overdue maintenance in the guest rooms. Many electric plugs in our room did not work; the door to the bathroom wouldn't stay closed, even though the inn had a warning that "steam would set off the fire alarm..." Food in the pub was excellent, although the wood-burning fireplace did not draft properly, and we smelled like we had been BBQ'd by the time we left.

Yelp
The Good: - The Inn has everything/ton of activities that they advertised and the room was spacious enough. - Toiletries in the bathroom were a nice plus. - Dinner at the restaurant in the lobby was good as well, but for my NYCers, "fine dining" in NYC is different than middle-of-nowhere, NH "fine dining." - The pool and jacuzzi were so relaxing and not crowded, which was a plus. All great so far. - Game room was dated but they had fun machines and hubby and I had a blast playing ping pong. The Bad: On the third day of our stay, I had woken up to a warm room and soon found out that it was because there was a power outage due to a thunderstorm the night before. First off, you might think a business that provides lodging would have a generator. They don't. What was completely unacceptable was when my husband asked if they would provide any sort of credit for the inconvenience of not being able to shower, wash my face, fix my hair (with my hair straightener) even flush the toilet and they said that they don't do credits because it was the whole area that lost power. Well, this wouldn't have happened if they had a generator. My husband was then told that there was a jug of drinking water in our room closet, which is a clear indication that this sort of thing has happened many times before that an Inn would have a jug of water in each guests room closet. Never seen this before, not to mention, I'm not drinking out of a jug that's been sitting in a closet in 80+ degree weather for who knows how long. We were also told that if we wanted to bathe, to take a "jump in the pool" or "go down to the wading river." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I wanted to bathe in a river, I would have gone camping, not paid $200/night. I was very insulted and hope that the owner of this place cares enough to change the Inn's policies the next time this happens. Moral of this story: this is a fine place that, when there are no power outages, operates well and offers a lot services. However, know that they do not have a generator and you're SOL without any recompense should the power go out.

Yelp
I have stayed at this Inn a couple of times. I have attended an event with friends and the Inn was rented just for the event. I must say , the staff are exceptional. The wait staff and chefs in particular go above and beyond to meet your needs. We ate all of our meals in the Inn and I must say the food was excellent. There was a variety of dishes and everything was cooked and seasoned wonderfully. The Inn is dated which adds to the charm of the old country setting. There are a couple of sitting areas with roaring fires to keep you warm while hanging out and relaxing. There is also a game room where you can watch a movie or play games. The rooms are very dated and the bathrooms are pretty ancient. There are no televisions, however they do have WIFI which is free for guests. The atmosphere is very charming and cozy.

Yelp
This was the first time we stayed at this beautiful country inn. We stayed in the lower cottage which was very spacious but does not have a kitchen, however the bathroom is very large. The room was nice but really needs a deep cleaning. There was spider webs with live spiders in the closet and almost in every corner. The dust/dirt behind the furniture and along some of the floorboards was pretty gross. The only reason we noticed was because the kids misplaced some toys and we were trying to find them. The upstairs part of the cottage has a small kitchen and the bathroom is also small. We had the opportunity to see different rooms in the actual Inn. The rooms are cute but the decor is dated. It is an old structure so expect popping and cracking sounds when you walk throughout the inn. The downstairs part of the Inn has a game room with video games, ping pong and fuzzball table. It also has a separate TV room and an area to play darts. Also downstairs you have a bar area set up like a pub. It really is a nice area to hang out and relax with the family. There is also a pool and jacuzzi located just outside the pub area with a seating area. We took advantage and added the breakfast package to our stay, I would highly recommend it! We never had the opportunity to eat anything else but breakfast at the restaurant but if lunch or dinner is anything like breakfast - you will be very satisfied. I tried a different breakfast everyday I was there, everything I tried except some burrito dish was out of control just GREAT! By far Franconia serves the best breakfast I have EVER had! The service at the restaurant and the Inn was top notch! Everyone was friendly, helpful and will to do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. The Franconia Inn offers many outdoor activities unfortunately the our time and the weather was not favorable for us to part take in such activities but definitely worth researching what they have to offer. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my wife a few weeks ago during a family vacation to the area. Was highly recommended by someone we randomly had a conversation with in a shop in Franconia. Thought we'd give it a try. Enjoyed our experience quite a bit. The Inn is a bit of a throwback to high-end vacation destinations of years gone by. The Inn seems as though it's been kept nicely up to date -- you don't get the feeling like the place is forever stuck in a time warp like you do other places from the same genre. The restaurant is not large. The decor is traditional, but not overly stuffy. We had a table by the window facing the grass airstrip across the road -- was cool to see the small planes and gliders taking off and landing while we were eating our meals. The food was great. Delicious and nicely presented. Service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and responsive and clearly cared a lot about his customers' experience. We're typically into more modern places. But, the Inn and our experience there fit right in with what we hoped for from a vacation in central NH.

Yelp
This is a charming inn in the white mountains two hours drive from Boston. Its a fantastic base all year round with a gliding centre across the road and horseriding on site. Its got an outdoor pool and a hot tub. The breakfasts are fantastic.

Yelp
If you need two rooms for a trip up to the NH area, the Franconia Inn is definitely one of the better deals you will get! They have a "family suite" which is really two separate bedrooms (one with a full bed and the other with two twins) that link to a shared bathroom for way way less than what you will pay for two individual rooms. Plus they had an awesome breakfast deal so that combined with the room rate, made this quite the affordable two night stay! They do not have free wifi in the bedrooms in case that is something you need, but they really just want you to relax from your busy life while you are here. They do have it available in the lobby/sitting area, so you can sit in front of the fire place and listen to the fire crackle while you check your email, and really what could be better than that? And their breakfast is actually pretty good! And you get a ton of food if you do the breakfast included in your room option! You get to order anything off that menu plus unlimited coffee and juice and a pastry cereal fruit bar too! They have a pub area downstairs with some games you can use to pass the time, plus a ping pong table and darts and some video games. You can tell that in the winter that downstairs area must be bopping, because even in fall while being leaf peepers there was a fair amount of people there (although many go to bed pretty early ha ha). They didn't mind us bringing our own bottle of wine to sip while playing scrabble, but they also have a full bar down there too, which maybe stays open later in the real winter season? Seemed to close pretty early to me, but that is the NH way! Early to bed and early to rise! They even have bikes you can borrow for free, horse carriage rides, their own cross-country ski track, the list goes on and on. The heat was a little hard to manage at first in our room, and during the storm that was there the windows seemed to rattle some, but that comes with staying in such a historic and picturesque inn. It really does make you feel like you have escaped into the country. Thanks, Franconia Inn. **Note: Since there isn't a separate listing just for the restaurant, be sure to watch out at dinner for chefs and waiters not really knowing their food dishes! Matt J. had gotten their steak with a chimichurri sauce, but it really had a brown gravy which is clearly not parsley based. Even when we asked, they insisted that they had made the dish correctly...so just watch out for that!

Yelp
We wanted to watch the NFC championship football game and grab a nice bite to eat while skiing for the weekend and had a very bad experience at the Lounge, it took at least 20 minutes to get our order in and over an hour to get our food. The server was nice and food was fine but wouldn't recommend this place to my friends.

Drew W.

Yelp
A really nice and cozy place to stay. We stayed with the kids in the Kinsmann Cottage, lower level, and it's pretty noisy down there with people above you. But with old places like this, I think you have to expect that. Still, if you're in the cottage, try to be the noisemaker, not the noise-receiver! Didn't stay in the main house, but I saw the rooms and they looked great. All very cozy. The breakfast in the morning was amazing! Delicious. Ate dinner at the pub below the restaurant. Food was pretty eh, at best. And very expensive. I'd skip that place. Only other complaint would be to have a couple more blankets on hand for cold nights. We were a little chilly. But all in all, a very nice stay.

T G.

Yelp
Stayed there over the Memorial Day Weekend. First making the reservation wasnt that great of experience. When I asked who I was speaking to on the phone the person on the other end wasn't initally willing to supply a name. Not a big deal but its nice to know Richard who your talking with. When we checked in we had about 4-5 bags in the reception area and no one offered any assistance going to the room. Just a point down the hall! Richard just went back into the office and let me make several trips. Hey I even get help at the Super 8! The room was fine, but a bit dated. Appears to be stuck in the 80's. Some say it adds to the charm? (its dated) No TV which was OK, since we were there for the outdoor activity, but parents be advised! The WIFI wasnt reliable. Maybe to many people trying to use. When the Inn emptied it was fine. Food in the Pub was really good, and we ordered off the Resturant menu. Breakfast was provided and was decent. I really want to give 3 stars but the owner didnt seem to give us the attention we get from other similar Inns. (they should travel to Camden Maine and stay at the Camden Harbor for a lesson)

Yelp
My fiancee and I love it here. What a find! 10 minutes from anything & everything you want to do yet quiet enough to avoid all the kids in Lincoln. We embraced the "no TV" and the food offerings were amazing in both the Inn restaurant & pub.

Joyce L.

Yelp
For the value, this is a 5 star place! The owners & staff are outstanding! Couldn't be more accommodating or friendly!! The location was perfect. The breakfast was great!

Liz A.

Yelp
The Franconia Inn is by far my favorite place to stay ever! I've been visiting this inn since I was a small child and still visit to this day because of how amazing it is! The mountain views/property are absolutely beautiful. Super cozy stay for winter time by the fire!

Emma H.

Yelp
I stayed here over the winter while I was doing some hiking. It was a great "home base." It's a rustic country inn with wood paneling and heavy window treatments. The room was a little chilly at first but warmed up well, although through the night the radiator sounded like a little factory. The breakfast was good, but very big servings. Dinner was ok, again, huge servings. I had to pack doggie bags each night - even after I'd hiked for 8 hours in the snow! The best part was sitting by the fireplace with a book and a glass of wine with the other guests, just watching the comings and goings. And the shower (remember, I'd hiked all day) was amazing. Very hot, good pressure and lasted a long time. There was wifi and an AT&T phone signal, which is nice to have up there. It's a little pricier than where I normally stay, but I would stay there again.

Yelp
Our stay here was quite enjoyable. The inn is big and cozy with a lovely dining room where they serve breakfast and dinner, a lounge with a fireplace, bar, games and a movie room. There are no TVs or Wifi in the rooms, which was a nice touch, since we were really looking for a weekend away. Instead of watching TV before bed, we sat downstairs and played cards by the fire. And it was absolutely beautiful covered in snow. My only complaint as far as the inn goes is the walls are paper thin. We could hear the whispers coming from the room next to us. The restuarnat /dining room downstairs looked very quaint and classy, but the service wasn't great and the food was hit or miss. When the waitress read the specials to us she said they had "a mussel special and a crab cake special and a scallop special"....uh, tell me more please! We ended up ordering the crab cake special, which was a frozen crab cake with some spicy aoli on it (not to delicious). For dinner I got the Pork Osso Buco with mashed and he got the Rack of Lamb with risotto. Everything on my plate was great, the pork tender, and falling off the bone with a delicious mushroom gravy. His lamb was also cooked perfectly, but the risotto, while full of flavor was undercooked. For dessert we got the lava cake which was (duh) amazing. It was our anniversary, and apparently the boy had called ahead to make them aware and requested a special dessert and they assured him they were writing a note next to our reservation. Somehow it was lost in translation because we never got that dessert. Oh well. Breakfast: basic and good, we both got eggs which were cooked well. The wheat toast seemed locally fresh, but the sausage was frozen. All in all....not a bad place to stay for a weekend getaway.

Yelp
I had originally written a review and I stated this "My asked if a AAA discount was offered and she was told the room was ALREADY discounted yet there was no reflection of this on the receipt." That was incorrect. The room WAS discounted and so noted on my receipt. Although the rest of my review stands, my thoughts remain the same.

Yelp
We just spent three nights at the Inn and felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Having x-country and snowshoe trails at the doorstep (as well as an equipment rental shop) was a huge plus. The breakfasts are huge and hearty, and the one dinner we sampled was fine as well. There was a boisterous bar downstairs where we watched the Patriots triumph, and a hot tub which we admired from a distance. All in all, a fine, friendly place, the archetype of a good inn.

Yelp
Found this B and B on booking.com and we couldn't have hand picked a better place to spend or weekend getaway. We came up here for the ice castles but rushed back to see Shaun and Kalli in the pub. What a great team to run the bar. I had the crab cakes that were loaded with crab and a Greek salad with a twist. They grilled the romaine which added such a unique touch and a unique taste. My boyfriend ordered the steak tacos. He didn't even need to add the sour cream because the steak tasted like carne asada and the pickled onions truelly made the dish. We reserved the roomed ahead of time and checking in was a breeze. The girl at the desk was very friendly, helpful and informative, we felt like we were at home. There are so many package options to choose from during your stay to help you save money. There are also plenty of activities to choose from, from horse pulled sleigh rides to ice skating to relaxing in the hot tub. We will definetly be back very soon and we will tell our friends of this amazing place. Sincerely Allison

Yelp
I was there in the off-season, so I can't fully appreciate what it's like when the game room and TV room and restaurant are going at full-tilt. But I gotta say: This place was sweet. My room had an old-fashioned feel but all the modern conveniences, including a deep bathtub with plenty of hot water. My favorite part, though, was the inn's parlor, where I could curl up on the sofa near the large gas-log fireplace and read deep into the night. (And, to be honest, tap away on my laptop; there was good wifi.) A lovely stay, all too short.

Yelp
Day 1 of our NH mountain bike weekend. We headed to Franconia to check out the riding. We hope someday to move here. By chance we called the inn and they had a room available. The inn is a few minutes outside the center of Franconia in a beautiful mountain setting. Truly a soul soothing location. It is an old inn but is impeccably maintained. The restaurant is excellent, breakfast was exceptional and the bar service is great. Grounds are beautiful which includes a horse stable and bike shop. Nice pool and hot tub top of the list. The mountain biking by the way is great and it is going to get better with the efforts of the owner of the inn as I would later learn over a few beers with him. We met the owner and his incredibly nice wife in the bar and talked mountain biking and all things Franconia until midnight. He offered me a complimentary shot and of course I obliged with a good single malt. We will be loading are bikes and heading back up very soon. Even if you are not into outdoor activities but love the white mountains go there and just enjoy the beauty. PS - there are thankfully no outlets or story land over here just good down to earth people.

Yelp
We had a great time. Clean, comfortable, and friendly. Amenities are great with lots of activities. We went horseback riding and watched as the gliders came down. The views of the mountains are gorgeous. Location is perfect. We did some hiking nearby at the flume and the basin. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
What a delight! Our family of four stayed for 4 nights in mid-February. We opted to get only one room so it was a tight fit, but the Inn was accommodating with a roll-away and extra towels. We did the Bed/Breakfast/Dinner option for two nights and the Bed/Breakfast option the other two. The dining room upstairs is spacious and beautiful - white table cloths, candles on the tables, excellent service and delicious food. After four days we grew a bit tired of the menu options, but it was all very good. The electricity was out for a morning (hence no water either) and the kitchen served the most delicious pancakes we've had. The waiters were very personable, chatting with our kids and making us feel like family. We had dinner in the dining room the first two evenings and everything we had was yummy (crab cakes, tapenade bruschetta, salmon, lobster ravioli, prime rib). We thought we'd venture to nearby restaurants for dinner the last two nights, but we were so tired from our days of snow fun that we ended up eating in the lounge downstairs. The lounge has it's own pub menu and you can also order anything from the upstairs dining room menu. The Inn has ice skating, a free tubing hill for the kids which was a big hit with our two 12 year olds, and extensive cross-country ski trails. Cannon Mtn is less than a 15 minute drive away and the Inn sells discount tickets ($54 instead of $70 for adult all-day). Inside there are many cozy areas to relax. The large living room has a gas fireplace and three sitting areas. A game room is well stocked with books and board games. Downstairs there are a ping pong table, foosball, arcade games, darts, a theater room with a large screen (we watched Olympics each evening), and a large wood fireplace with roomy and comfortable couches. The lounge has room for quite a few people and the staff is great. We liked eating in the lounge because our kids could be entertaining themselves with games and other kids, letting us have a more peaceful dinner.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this diamond in the ruff! It's an old Inn, clean and comfortable. It's large enough that you don't need to hang with the owners but not so large that you don't get that special touch. The food was fantastic we had the pork Oso bucolic and veal shank. Our waiter Seth was amazing....super nice guy and spot on with his recommendations for dining. In addition, there is a cute little lounge for cocktails prior to dinner, and the bartender came to see if we would be joininh her after dinner for drinks (so she knew whether sheshould stay or not) super considerate! If you are looking for a great place off the beaten trail....you will appreciate this place!
