How to Plan a Trip to Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire

"This state park (which contains the ski mountain) is highlighted as one of New Hampshire’s best recreation areas: terrain in and around the park can be challenging in winter, attracting serious ice climbers and winter hikers for steep cliffs and technical ascents, while local guides support less experienced visitors. All-level activities in the park and nearby include snowshoeing, fat-tire biking, and horse-drawn sleigh rides, with the protected-land status contributing to a lack of overdevelopment in the surrounding landscape." - Travel + Leisure Editors

One of the best state parks you will ever visit. Trails are very well maintained. The visitor center, though not huge or elaborate, is very nice, clean, and informative, even with a food area and gift shop. There is sufficient parking close to the visitor center. Excellent public state park. Well done. Beautiful views, scenery, and nature.

We had a great visit to the summit of Cannon Mountain on the Aerial Tramway. The operator gave an interesting commentary on the way up. The views were amazing and we were very lucky with the weather. Highly recommend the short loop trail at the top and visit to the tower. Please note this facility we be closing on 26th October 2025 as they are replacing the cable cars. The guide said it may take up to 2 years.

Great place to visit! Nice loop walk on well maintained walks and boardwalk alo b g the dificul part of the trail. Lots of steps to climb but not very difficult of about 2.5 miles. Ample free parking. Trails are well Marquez. Prices are reasonable.

My Fiance and I got to visit the Cannon Aerial Tramway a couple of weeks before it closed to build a new tramway and if I must say the views on the mountain tops are just astonishing, he proposed to me in the mountains so it was already beautiful there but that moment just made it even more magical! If you're coming to New Hampshire in the future you have to check this place out and make your own memories, its just beautiful!

This is an absolute gem! Such a gorgeous park. Lots of hiking. Tons of waterfalls. Mountain views. At times you feel like you’re out west! Less crowds. I mean, things can get crowded but nothing like other area I’ve been to.

We went to the park a week after peak foliage season. Traffic wasn't horrific, and the view kayaking on echo lake was the best. We also hiked to Lonesome lake, and watched the sunrise over the mountains from Polly's Pancake Parlor.

Beware the rapid weather changes and bring hiking essentials! Beautiful, but many hikes can be tougher than you might realize. Check your maps so you don't end up halfway up the wrong trail
