I really love the eclectic clothing items at Frankie Shop; yes, the clothing is overpriced, but the owners do a good job of making selections from a lot of local designers and representing garments that are eco-friendly and ethically made.
It's too bad, however, that some of that mindfulness doesn't influence the store owners and shopkeepers. I've developed a routine with this store so that I'm not contributing any money to them directly due to many previous negative experiences there: I like to go in, take a quick look around to see what new stuff the represented designers have out so I can order from the designers directly, then get out of there as soon as I can because the atmosphere at the Frankie Shop is so uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
Not only is the customer service basically nonexistent--several friends and I were in shopping a couple of weeks ago while the shopkeeper and her friend were doing an "Instagram photo shoot" at the store, and though we probably spent upwards of $1,000 in less than an hour, the shopkeeper treated us like we were in the way and kept whispering and laughing with the "Instagram model"--but the shop itself is set up awkwardly. There are no mirrors in the dressing rooms, so customers are forced to exit to the main part of the store if they want to have mirror access, and thus they are subjected to completely generic comments from the shopkeeper like, "Oh, yeah, that looks completely FABULOUS on you," or, worse, to totally unwarranted comments like, "That dress is a nice choice; it makes it harder to tell how big your hips are."
In a nutshell: Great selection of unique garments from local designers, but if you're looking for a mellow shopping experience where you're able to peruse and enjoy yourself, this is not the shop for you.
Tip: Go in to check out what they have, then order directly from designers for less expensive prices since the shop marks up the cost of many items.
