Frank's Falafel House

Arrived at about 11:30 am on a Sunday with my family of 6 and they were packed. We had around a 10 minute before we were seated by a waitress. Service was incredibly quick and the menu has a really cool blend of traditional diner fair(omelets, burgers, egg and hashbrown skillets) as well as Mediterranean foods like tabloulli, falaffel, shawarma, gyro, and a really delicious bean dip. Their signature hot sauce was also incredible. We were served by 2 different waitresses(mother and daughter) and were checked on frequently with coffee refills and whatever else we needed. They seemed genuinely happy to work at the diner and when we asked what their favorite dishes were, they had instant answers and clearly enjoyed the food that they serve. Frank also came out personally to see how everything was going. If ever in Cleveland again, I would stop by in a heartbeat. Not only was the food fantastic with great variety and pretty good prices, but the vibe was incredibly cozy and the staff was fantastic. Anyone looking for a place to eat should stop in and check it out.

was the first time here and it was an amazing experience. went for breakfast which is not all they have they have lunch also. had coffee and food. they coffee tasted awesome and the food was excellent. the people here were very friendly and the atmosphere was very cozy.

Staff is nice! Clean and friendly atmosphere :) food was alright bland fish sandwich rubbery taste. The fries were the best part. Falafel was alright seem store bought though. Would go ago and try something new though

Delicious as always. No pork on the menu, turkey bacon... You don't like it? Forget about it and get something else! Haaaa. Ayyyyyeeee this place is a classic of Cleveland. The hummus, excellent. Old school lil resturant that I've passed many times. If I hadn't been noisy on Google, lol I would never have found them. I tried a veggie platter, and it was good. Tabouli was fresh, and Baba and hummus were average but good. I didn't really like the grape leaves, tho. Kinda dry inside, but I didn't like the filling in them. I want to go back to try a gyro next. They have daily specials, too! Definitely give them a try!

Stopped by for the Gyro Omelette. The lamb in the omelette was over cooked/crispy. The hash browns were under cooked (white instead of golden brown like the picture on their menu). My 13 yr old enjoyed the strawberry pancakes, for what that’s worth.

I STEPPED INTO FRANK FALAFEL HOUSE AND IMMEDIATELY KNEW MY LIFE HAD BEEN A PRELUDE TO THIS MOMENT 🌀✨ The air smelled like mango sunsets and deep-fried destiny, like somewhere in the universe a falafel was whispering, “67 is the code.” I ordered the MANGO FALAFEL WRAP and the second it touched my hands, my brain did a triple backflip into a mango vortex. The falafel crunched like tiny cymbals of enlightenment, and the tahini dripped down my fingers like golden logic. Somewhere between bite three and seven, I swear the universe flashed a sign: 67 chickpeas in a sacred spiral, and yes, I counted them all. 🥭💫 Frank himself emerged from a mystical cloud of turmeric smoke, wielding extra sauce like a scepter. “Do you want more?” he asked. I yelled, “I WANT 67 MORE!” and for a moment I think the walls themselves hummed in agreement. Then came the mango smoothie. It didn’t just hit my taste buds — it upgraded my consciousness to mango firmware 6.7. I swear I could see the threads of reality weaving into a giant 67-shaped lattice of sweetness and falafel crumbs. My molecules started doing the Sandstorm cha-cha on their own. 🧠⚡ By the time I left, I was radiating mango energy at levels previously unrecorded by science. I screamed “TAHINI IS TRUTH” at an elderly pigeon, and it nodded knowingly. Frank Falafel House isn’t just food — it’s a 67-dimensional mango simulator, a crunchy enlightenment factory, a flavor singularity. Final rating: 67/67/10, mangoes included, infinity confirmed. Would ascend as a chickpea just to repeat.

Was hopeful for an authentic shawarma, the taste profile was spot on just no crisp tot he pita. Found out that it was a bit of a diner, however I will be back for all day breakfast! And to try the Kafka, and lamb shawarma! service was quick and polite! Ambiance was comfortable and relaxing for a diner! Will return!

Great bustling local diner. Everything made to order in house. Tasty and great prices! Full breakfast/lunch menu served all day (kitchen closes at 2:30pm daily). Comfy booths inside the (smallish) dining room and a few outdoor tables. Great free parking with entry off of W. 65th. Kim took care of us - she is awesome and made our experience very enjoyable! FYI - NO pork is served here. Definitely recommend and will be back!

This place is amazing. One of the few places that serves halal beef bacon. If you don't eat pork, and you want a top notch breakfast, come on down to Frank's Falafel House. The potatoes are always nice and crispy and the little hot sauce they give you compliments it very well. The staff is always friendly and respectful here and the place is always clean.

Falafel and French fries for the win! Pita nachos are excellent if you want or need anything more.

I come here almost every weekend. If you're looking for a "mom & pop breakfast spot", this is the place to be. It certainly isn't anything fancy, but the food is good and the staff are great. I usually go for breakfast, and they offer all the staples you would expect, but it's also a great lunch option. They have Mediterranean options like shawarma, shish tawook, and of course the titular falafel. But if you're really hungry, go for the Mixed Grill which is basically all these things and more. It's a lot of food, and it's all very good!

This is a quaint and great place. The service and the teamwork by all staff is the best in Cleveland. The food is great and good prices too!!!! I would recommend this place. They make you feel welcome and it is clean. You get a great meal and a good price!

So I have tried a couple of Cleveland diners all over the greater NE Ohio area and pass this place a few times a month without realizing it was a diner (thought it was just a falafel place). And therein is the lesson of don't judge a book by uts cover because this place looks too small from the outside and isn't much to look at. This last weekend I came here to try it for breakfast on the recommendation of some of my friends who were with me and I was pleasantly surprised. Walking in it wasn't too busy on a Sundah at 9am, and there were maybe 2 other tables that had people sitting in them and they just said grab whichever seat you guys want, so definitely a plus there, I mean no wait and you get to pick your own seat. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and had some menus given to us. Now their prices are super reasonable so we ordered some breakfast and I personally had a gyro along with some breakfast sausage and wow was it delicious. Like my gyro seemed to be freshly made, the veggies were still crisp and not soggy and the meat was juicy and warm. 5 stars would recommend the gyro. They also have a great breakfast menu and their salads are delicious (I skimmed off my friends plate). The food came out quick, was delicious and the service was great. Also everything is super clean there and it seems like it is a small family run business so if you're looking for a diner come here they have traditional breakfast food, middle eastern food, salads and stuff like a Philly cheese steak.

A classic neighborhood dinner with good food, nice employees, and reasonable prices - a hard combination to find these days

Good afternoon I would not recommend this restaurant. I walked in there this afternoon about 12:30pm. I walk in and no one acknowledges me ,the place is not full it's literally just one table that is being served. I grab my own menu , I look over the menu. I am still not being acknowledge . The young chik at the cashier along with her coworker are just having a full-blown conversation. I Stand there for exactly 10 minutes no one acknowledges me . No how can I help you nothing at all . I just walked out. at the end of the day , I don't have time to teach anyone any manners Nor Customer service . I will take my money elsewhere rude behavior & lack of Customer service

Finally made it here after always seeing good reviews. Just a small place in Gordon Square area. I had the gyro platter without the pita because I am gluten free. Good helping of lamb gyro, tomatoes, onions, a chopped salad and rice. Nice dish. Will go back. Great service.

I really enjoy Frank's. My dad randomly found it a few years ago while doing some work in the neighborhood and the fam has been coming here ever since. We usually get the Franks special Mediterranean platter for 2. It comes with some schwarma-in-pita, falafel, grape leaves and your choice of hummus/baba and tabouli/fatoush. Everything is good and fresh. The garlic sauce and the tzatziki sauce are the highlights of the meal. Ask for extra. Prices are reasonably low at $10 or less for an entree and the platter for 2 is $21.99. Definitely worth checking out. Bonus that they have their very own (large) parking lot because it's near a trendy area where I'm sure parking is a pain.

Small neighborhood diner type place. The food was excellent, and the service was great. Great falafel and baba ganoush. Also sandwiches and breakfast dishes. Would definitely recommend!

I really like Frank's Falafel House, especially since they have non-meat options. I tend to order the same thing each time I go (falafel wrap, veggie rice and grape leaves) but they're so good!!! The establishment is a small, diner-type restaurant, very clean and ample parking. It's on a corner lot which makes it very visible. It seems to be a neighborhood favorite. The owner is friendly and oftentimes comes out from the kitchen to greet customers. It had been a while since we visited (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), but we visited yesterday and we were very pleased to see that all the workers were wearing masks & gloves and as usual, the establishment was very clean! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Have stopped by here twice in recent months, both for take-away and each meal was tasty, freshly made and very reasonably priced. Frank's seems to have a wide selection of menu items covering breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Their breakfast meals appear to be a real bargain (can't wait to give them a try!). We've had a Mediterranean salad and last visit was falafel wraps. Both had great flavor and large portions. Anxious to keep coming back to try more and more of their menu options.

I went out of my way while passing thru Ohio to get to Frank's for lunch. I had to wait a few minutes for a table, but the meal was well worth it. Lunch was great: I got the special gyro burger, which had enough delicious protein to set me up for a week. If I'm traveling within a hundred miles of Cincinnati, I'll get to Frank's somehow. Spotlessly clean, great food, wonderful service, plenty of parking. No need to pick through the menu - whatever you order will be delicious!

Considering it's down the street from my job I was a bit surprised to realize I had never been to Franks. In dire search of some hummus and a salad I entered this establishment on a cold winter day. I was warmly welcomed by two ladies and placed an order to go right away. I think my salad and hummus took all of 6 minutes which is amazing for me since I was in a crunch for time. My buffalo chicken salad was lacking some chicken, I think they definitely could have been a tad more generous but I was starving and not in the mood to argue. The hummus was amazing, so fresh I felt like they were in the back mashing up the chickpeas as I ordered . The inside of the establishment needs a major and I mean MAJOR overhaul. It's outdated and gross, not welcoming nor is it inviting . Price wise it's a great spot, but with all the competition they have with west 25th and Gordon square I expected more of a Shabbang from Franks and unfortunately for me they fell short.

Clean, friendly service, great variety of menu items. We were looking for somewhere to grab a to go order to take down to Edgewater Park and lunch by the lake. Frank's was on the way and we got there despite Franklin St being closed, no thanks to GPS. The falafel wrap and gyro were excellent, the price was inexpensive and we're only sorry we're 2000 miles from here or we'd be back regularly.

One of our 20 something friends recommended this place for breakfast. Normally we would not listen to them however we try this place and we loved it! It's just on the friends of the garden square neighborhood and I will tell you that the gyro omelette was one of the best omelettes I've ever had. Hubby had the breakfast burrito and loved it too. Lastly a big shout out to the very friendly staff. Don't miss this hidden gem. We'll be back.

I ignored Franks' Falafel House for years and what a mistake that was. It's now our favorite place to get breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious, the prices are cheap and the service is friendly and personable. Frank's is a true neighborhood treasure.

We enjoyed this little place. Got the chicken shawarma plate and falafel and it was very well priced. Will come back when in the area.

Full disclosure: the location is a huge plus for me, given that I can walk over in my PJ's in a minute. I've been here many times for their gyro skillet breakfasts and daily specials. The food is consistently hearty and delish (greasy spoon standards). Cost for breakfast meals are very reasonable. Service is quick and friendly, nice folk from the area.

This is such a great, neighborhood, Mediterranean-based diner, with delicious freshly made food, great service, and unbelievably low prices. The waitstaff is enthusiastic, friendly, and attentive...sometimes it seems that they were placed by Central Casting....so if you feel awkward being addressed as "honey" or "sweetie", regardless of your gender, either avoid the place or take a breath and just enjoy it. The menu is varied and manageable, not consisting of those what seem like hundreds of pages that one sometimes finds in diners. You will find typical selections like burgers and all-day breakfasts, and they are all really good, but it really are the Entrees like schwarma, gyros, kibbie, etc. that are the star attractions. Everything is freshly made and VERY plentiful. Oh, and yes, the falafel is really good! If you have room, which is doubtful, try the homemade baklava!

Slow day at work, lack of motivation on a Monday morning, means that I am on Yelp spreading the good word. The falafel here is pretty good. A reviewer said Frank's is in a crappy neighborhood which I don't agree with. I really like this neighborhood. The breakfast is very cheap, the way it should be. You can even get just one egg for 75 cents. Mediterranean combined with American diner breakfast is a good way to start a Saturday.

The good: - Frank's has wonderful Mediterranean food as well as traditional American options (burgers and such) on the menu. If you're craving chicken shawarma but the people you're dining with aren't feeling Mediterranean food everyone will be satisfied. - The staff is friendly and personable. - Portions sizes are just right. - The dining room received a recent facelift with new furniture and menus. The less than good: - The dining room is small, so getting a table can be difficult at peak hours - Prices are somewhat high for a casual dining restaurant, meaning that Frank's is more likely to be treated as an occasional treat rather than a regular dining option.

Had falafel and hummus for lunch. Very average hummus and the falafel was too raw. Extremely slow service.

This place was a surprisingly great highlight of our trip to Cleveland. In a sea of trendy spots, we were looking for a family owned, small restaurant that cooked from scratch. Frank's Falafel Hpuse is where we found the most love. I felt like I was sitting in someone's home. The food was exceptional and was also delicious to my 15 month old. Let's see, we had fried fish, a shawarma combo, falafel, a big salad, etc. The portions were generous, and the place was super clean (before we arrived... remember our toddler,js). It was just great.. Just go.

For all intents and purposes this is a 5-Star "Diner review". I ventured here on a mission to try their breakfast- past the hipster donut and beer place, the new age "brunch" spots, and even past several "good value" places, all so I could arrive at what looks like from the outside to be a revamped Pizza Hut from the 90s. But sometimes those are the best places! And Franks really delivers- it's a classic mom & pop style diner that serves Mediterranean food alongside traditional American fare. The menu is large and varied and they have seasonal specials such as the delicious sweet potato pancakes we had. The food we ordered- a western skillet and a veggie omelet with gyro meat added- came out hot, not too oily, and delicious. It was actually super impressive how fresh and well cooked everything was. The staff (who told us how she personally made the cinnamon butter for the cakes) was attentive and nice. All in all this is a diamond in a sort of rough neighborhood- a place that shouldn't be overlooked in the face of tomorrow's next big fad restaurant!

Cleveland has this thing with extremely affordable greasy spoon diners... And Frank's is at the top of the list! They have a wide array of food, from standard burgers, steak & eggs, to Mediterranean and healthier options. Honestly, I've only gone here for breakfast/brunch and for $2.99 you can get two eggs, bacon or sausage, a good amount of hash browns, and your choice of toast. French toast, pita & hummus platers... It's all good eatin'! I'm not saying the place is going to win a Michelin star anytime soon, but sometimes you don't want that. It's humble. It's friendly. It's a haven for bottomless coffee.

Best tabouli I have ever had! And the baba is to die for ! The staff is super friendly as well. I moved so I don't get to go here as often anymore but anytime I'm nearby I stop in!

Stopped by with my family today for lunch the food was delicious and the server was friendly. The only reason I gave them one star is because the owner I believe was very rude with us when we asked about an item on the menu. We would never go back.

Everything was really good! Been wanting to try this place out for some time.... I got the chicken shishtwok (don't know the correct spelling) and the vegetarian platter which both were so good and out server Erin was fantastic I will b back for the great service and amazing food!!!

Franks has exceptional. Food, period. Due to somebody being a highly experienced chef. Service is great. It's a wonderful restaurant. Great people to boot . Fantastic grilled meat sampler, vegetarian platter ,lentils and rice with salad are awesome. Coffee hits the spot. Outside tables if you like. Huge amount of fenced safe parking . Very nice decor. Walking distance to Gordon Square. A fantastic neighborhood option..Thank you for awesome healthy food .

Frank's is the ultimate Cleveland diner. Crazy cheap and delicious breakfast and good Greek food. The breakfast burrito is fantastic, they make their own hot sauce. Get it. I've been several times and the service is always good. Friendly waitresses, food comes out quickly. You can't beat the price or the breakfasts. They have great biscuits and gravy, too, or just get a biscuit on the side. Their only flaw is that they're not open late night.

Ok. I know that people are going to say 'There are better falafel places in cleveland... the falafels are pretty good but not mind blowing... yada yada yada... ' However, you have to rate this place for what it is - a fan-friggin-tastic diner-y place that does the whole middle eastern + breakfast diner fare to cheap awesomeness. Basically, on the food for price thing, this places hits it square on. Deliciousness, without breaking the bank. Also, I want to award something to the mad genius who came up with the falafel omelette. Seriously. Falafel. Cooked inside an omelette. Mind blown. Slather some harrissa hot sauce and some tzatziki on the eggs, and enjoy! Also their baklava - home made by the owners wife - are amazing! They hit this great medium in between the whole too crunchy/soggy, too sweet/bland, too much filling/phyllo dough (?) that places supposedly a lot better can only strive to reach. I am def going back to get breakfast once (or a hundred time) again!

Frank's is our go-to place for a regular breakfast or lunch. If we can't decide where to go to eat, it's our default setting. Why? Because the food is always maximum delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are low-low-low. Breakfast? A variety of excellent omelets are the stars -- my husband dies for the corned beef, I am fond of the spinach and feta, while my son cannot be pried away from the farm omelet, which has everything in it but the kitchen sink. The golden hash browns are superb. I mix some of Frank's own homemade hot sauce into my ketchup, slide a little on the hash browns, and it's zap! pow! bam! I am unable to pry the secrets of the hot sauce from Frank, even after much begging, but I know it includes jalapeno and garlic. Yummm... Now on to lunch. The falafel is very good, the hummus is excellent, there are a variety of burgers, but for me, it's gotta be the gyro. Frank's gyro is a Platonic 10 out of 10. Why? 1) He specially grills the onions for me (just ask), 2) he grills the gyro meat, and 3) the homemade tzaziki sauce rocks my world. Ask for the hot sauce on the side, dab on as needed. The Greek salad with added chicken is also terrific -- loaded with fresh feta and olives. It's covered with a mountain of Frank's chicken shwarma which is delicately spiced. You can try his fatoosh dressing (lemon with lots of mint) or the balsamic which comes with it - both are terrific. If you are looking for a friendly, reliable, yummy standard place for breakfast or sandwiches in the Detroit-Shoreway area, you need look no more.

Frank's Falafel House has surprised me twice. The first time was when I happened to drive by it a few weeks ago to see that it even existed. Tucked away on the corner of Franklin and W. 65th a mere spitting distance from the rest of the Gordon Square Arts district. Needless to say, the glowing red sign beckoned, and I made a mental note to stop by to check it out. The second time Frank's surprised me was when I finally got a chance to stop in for meal. Walking in, it seems in all regards like any other old-timey family restaurant (like the few that still exist on Lorain Road in Fairview Park). The dining room, while small, was VERY clean and orderly. We sat down and were immediately brought menus and had our drink orders taken. The server was attentive and friendly, and he was happy to answer questions about the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was actually surprised to see as many non-Middle Eastern items as there were. Mostly breakfast stuff, but there were burgers and such as well. I might describe it as greasy spoon with a really heavy Middle Eastern bent. Very reasonable prices, in some cases, surprisingly low, but this wasn't reflected in the food. My gyro was pretty good. Not the best around around here, but a decent showing. I will say that the pita the gyro was wrapped in seemed like the freshest I've ever had- soft, doughy, delicious. The Falafel sandwich on the other hand was excellent. The patties were cooked perfectly and the tahini dressing was a perfect complement. It was only $3.50 too! The wife's chicken shawarma platter was good as well. The accompanying hummus was top notch too. Overall, we were really happy we stopped in. While Frank's is a little bit of a hike from home, I will seriously consider making the trip when I get a taste for Middle Eastern food.

Decided to stop by Frank's Falafel House after hearing a great review from a friend. Having been spoiled by the great middle eastern rrestaurants in Dearborn and eastern Michigan, it's been hard to find a good middle eastern restaurant that can even compare, here in Cleveland. The place is rather cute- nice people, old diner looking place. We walked in- it was rather empty, but it was nice to sit down right away. I think this place would probably be better for breakfast. They had quite the extensive menu for it. However, we were there for dinner. We ordered some baba ghannouj and a schwarma platter. It was alright. I mean, the garlic butter that came out with the warm pita...wasn't the super garlicky butter that I normally like...but it was okay. The baba was okay and so was the schwarma. So, all in all, Frank's is an okay place to stop by if you have a craving for middle eastern food. It's nothing like Dearborn, but the people are nice and the food is decent. I think next time I'm going to try their breakfast...

Great for takeout but I think I'll take em down to a three star. Why? Those wonky hours man! Sometimes you'll show up thinking, "They're diner-ish, it's Sunday afternoon, they're probably open!" And nooope. No bueno. It's sad times. But like I said, their cheap, great for takeout--which saved me from a killer hangover the other day. One improvement to the gyros would be some really good hot sauce.

Was skeptical at first but was pleasantly surprised. The falafel and kibbee were both delicious. My advice when ordering the wraps is that you can never go wrong with extra tomatoes & cucumbers. Extra napkins are recommended if you get extra sauce. Fast, friendly, and tasty. I will eat here again.

Have gotten the Mediterranean special many times and it's always excellent. The fattoush is amazing. And you get lots of food. They say it feeds 2, should easily be enough for 3.

I really don't understand all these stellar reviews. The grapeleaves I gave a second try and they were hands down the worst I've ever had. Mushy with no taste whatsoever. Their rice isn't even close to pilaf, its cheap. None of their ingredients are fresh or authentic. Its Aldi's. So considering that, its actually not a good price at all. The salads are good. We tried the big plate, the one on the front of the menu for 16.99, thinking that's their specialty it would be good. Nope, very underwhelming. No flavor at all in the grapeleaves and the shawarma was both confusing and tasteless. I would recommend making your own grapleaves or find a friend with a Lebanese grandma, see what good leaves really are.

I stopped by on this snowy night to grab some takeout and very happy I did. I ordered right away, grape leaves and a falafel wrap. The owner asked if I was a vegetarian, when I confirmed my mostly veggie tastes he shared he usually remembers his veg customers and will often make special veg only dishes, alas, none today. In talking to him my favorite quote was, "people either come here because they love me or they love my food." I couldn't agree more, I love both. The grape leaves are fantastic and at 6 for $3.99 they're a steal. The falafel has a hint of something, perhaps cinnamon, that gives the wrap a unique touch. He shaped and fried them in front of me and I'm happy to say the falafel isn't dry as you'll often find. The tahini sauce is great. While the toppings of shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes are a bit generic, the falafel doesn't need to be covered up and at $3.50 also an amazing deal. I purchased a delicious, thoughtfully prepared meal and definitely plan on going back. The owner is wonderful; the food delicious, Frank's Falafel House is a welcome addition to my neighborhood.
