"A fourth-generation distiller operates an elegant Destillathek (opened in 2017) where visitors are guided through flights of refined fruit brandies — think rowanberry (Vogelbeere) with marzipan notes and expressive cassis (black currant) — and introduced to subtleties of high-quality distillates. The site also showcases an early local whiskey program begun in the 1990s using farm-grown wheat and locally made oak barrels, with some expressions aged at least 10 years or finished in chestnut casks. The distillery emphasizes its agricultural roots and is linked to hiking trails (Der Brennerweg) that pass orchard-rich landscapes and other small producers, reinforcing the connection between the spirits and the land." - Adam H.
