Terrible. I am visiting from Melbourne for work purposes, booked in on a corporate account.
I just need to say: shout out to the night manager that moved me last night, and the barista at the bar on Sunday morning. These are the two highlights of my stay here, and I hope you guys get the recognition you deserve. Now, on to my review.
First room I was placed in was run down - dirty carpet, broken work chair (had to use work desk for the day as it was public holiday here on Monday) sat on the desk then the arm rest just broke and one side fell off. Put up with it anyway, then due to jet lag and still on Melbourne time tried to get some sleep but the drapes were broken, so even though they were supposed to be block out drapes I had sunlight streaming in my room.
Then there was a water leak on our level, the main pipes located in a cabinet just outside my room... this of course decided to seep into the filthy carpet and flooded my room so had to get moved. This is later in the evening mind you, after spending the day trying to work while noise was coming through the door while the maintenance person was trying to fix the leak. I've got Teams meetings all day so had to keep apologising for the noise.
So I'm noise logged and jet lagged then had to move rooms, when all I wanted to do was go to sleep. The night manager was very nice though and helped me move asap as I was worried what kind of potential spores would kick off from that dirty wet carpet and I did NOT want to breathe any of that in.
The new room was in better condition than the first one so I was a bit happier despite the inconvenience... until I try and close the door and it didn't close shut. I now have to slam the door every time so it locks into place. Sorry to the room next door...
And you'd think it would stop there, but no. I get back from the office today which is about a 35min walk from here (I don't know why I was booked in a place so far from our office in the heart of the CBD, but I'll take that up with the admin girl when I get back) so again, still jet lagged and I'm exhausted so I just wanted to get room service for dinner. Mind you, the fare is pretty ordinary, but I wanted the convenience. So I try and order using the QR code online, and they wanted to slug me the public holiday surcharge today (not a ph anymore). So I try and call the room service number, it rings out. Twice. I call the concierge and tell him I wanted room service and asked if the restaurant was open as I called that number and it rang out. He was apologetic and tried to connect me... waited for 15mins and finally hung up. I dragged myself downstairs and had to find a physical person to place my order with, which defeats the purpose of room service. The food came, and it was bad... I wish I got ubereats instead, considering I had to go downstairs anyway.
I'm still here as I write this. But I'm stuck for another couple of days until my meetings are done. I'm miserable but I'll just have to suck it up.
In conclusion, this property gets a 1 star from me. I'd give it a minus if I could, or even a zero. If you need the city, the location is not ideal. If you're going to the WACA then it's the best place to stay... that is, if you don't mind the crappy service and potentially run down room. I can't wait to go home 😩
