God bless another great staple to commercial street. While I was taking a stroll that morning I smelled fresh pastries on the block. I walked in and was greeted instantly. I love their setup. Clean, fresh, straight forward, community oriented. This buisness does functions and weddings. They also deliver! I wanted to surprise my friend with a cranberry cheese cake. It looks amazing! I scarfed down my eclair before I even noticed I forgot to take a pic of it LOL. Great little place, love it. 🥰

✨️✨️✨️✨️Such sweet people here!!!!!!! (And they have Diet Coke in cans!!!!! HUZZAH!!)💯💯😎 Ive been meaning to grok a few canoli but almost every time, a sandwich from next door eclipses the desire... but not today!!!! Bc of serendipty and a little gumption, i decided to get a few things to share with my friends at Mums 💕💕💕. The beatiful pastries didn't disappoint!!!!! The pistachio canoli was gorgeous and perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness--- not overly sacchrine and just delicious. The whipped cream/lemon canoli was a (very very very) close second... delicious and refreshing... almost like a lemon meringue... same as above, the sweetness was perfect and great for sharing 💕 staff here were wonderful and helpful ... and you even had cold cans of Diet Coke !!!! Yayy!!!! (I think i meantioned that already 😝😝) Thank you for helping me spead a little mirth and joy today 🌈

Google
A sweet tooth’s dream come true! Fratelli Bakery is an absolute gem. Their cannoli with whipped cream is heavenly, crisp shell, creamy filling, just the right touch of sweetness. The variety of pastries is nothing short of impressive, each one looking better than the last. It’s the kind of place where you want to try everything. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
We have been coming here for over 20 years - they are consistent - we had the bakers dozen - I wished we had more cannoli but otherwise - all were great

Google
December 2024 Came across this small bakery shop by chance. Love the owner chef great smile and joyful attitude. Enjoyed a small cup of Americano and pastry. Will love to explore more this area.

Google
Classic and modern Italian pastries! They have so many… bars, puffs, tarts, macarons, cakes and so on. I tried several and they were all fresh and tasty. I like it that they were not too big nor sweet so that I can have a couple at once. My favorites were a cannoli with whip and eccles.

Munchica

Google
Ordered a red velvet cake made fresh here and it was fantastic. The cake was moist, thick and tall, and baked perfectly. The flavour was fantastic and you could tell it was made from real ingredients and tasted high quality. Everyone loved it and the presentation also looked awesome. A real, solid bakery.

Google
We are so glad we stumbled across this delightful bakery. We sampled a few of their creations and I can honestly say I have never tasted anything better. The canolli's pastry was so light and flakey with a beautiful creamy filling with the perfect sweetness. The coffee was the perfect accompaniment. I wish we lived closer so we could make this a regular

Yelp
Came by for some treats for the first time. I don't know if she was the owner but she was so kind and patient with my husband and I trying to figure out what we wanted. The cannoli was perfect. Creamy and not too sweet. My kids loved the chocolate cake. My MIL enjoyed the lemon cheesecake. Would love to come back again.

Yelp
I came into this place without any preconceptions. Just as I happened to walk by it to the bank, their window of goodies caught my eye. I was pleasantly surprise when I walked in to see the variety of treats despite being late in the day and many items were sold out. I opted for a whole lemon poppyseed loaf that was about $17 if I can recall correctly. I also noticed they have 50% off their bread loaves when it's near closing which I think would be a great deal. Service was quick and friendly with lots of payment methods available. I think I'll be back next time I'm down on commercial.
google avatar

Yelp
When I saw the cake on the table of course I thought it was a very beautiful cake but it was only when I tasted it that I realized how delicious it was, my thoughts were where the hell have you been, I almost forgot about you
google avatar

Luke D.

Yelp
Only tried two things here: an amaretti cookie and cannoli. The amaretti cookie was the worst I've ever had. It was so gummy and chewy that I could hardly bite a piece off. The cannoli were not quite average. 0 for 2 and no reason to return.

Yelp
Great Italian bakery on the drive. Great selections. Great price. I tried a handful of things they all tasted great and fresh. My favourite was the ham and cheese croissant and cannoli. I will be back!
google avatar

Mari E.

Yelp
My friends and me used to call here as "canoli" place because they have super long line up at Italian day. We have never had a chance to try. Even to get in the store. I'm glad to give it try today finally. They have savory baked stuff like cornmeal muffin and ham and egg croissant. But mostly this bakery is for sweet tooth people. Their whole cake looked like dense one. Not high/tall sponge cake. And more tart crust cake rather than pie. That is my cake! So I'm happy to find here. Store is small and narrow. No room to sit and have a coffee.

Yelp
How do I express how much I love Fratelli Bakery? It's not exactly cutting edge or innovative, or elegant, and it definitely doesn't use local organic ingredients. It doesn't sport minimalist hipster ambience or cool sculptural light fixtures. Fratelli gets five stars for perfectly recreating the bakeries of my childhood (which was in the nineties). At Fratelli, a 2020 hazelnut tart tastes just like a 1990 hazelnut tart as if no time has passed. There's a pretty good chance Fratelli has been using the same recipes for 30+ years. And there's a reason for that: they're delicious. If artificial vanilla has a special place in your heart like it does in mine, Fratelli is the place for you. I alternate between a flourescent yellow lemon tart or a French eclair. Fratelli seems to do particularly well at pate a choux, the pastry that eclairs and cream puffs are made from. As other Yelpers have mentioned, they have one particularly over-the-top confection, called a St. Honore cake, which has too many components to mention, but includes Bavarian cream, whipping cream, choux, and sponge cake, and which everyone should try at least once. The coffee is pretty good, too.
google avatar

Vanessa Y.

Yelp
Our office loves getting the cream puffs from here, so much that we even got a courier to deliver some when our old CEO was retiring; yep, they were that good. Stumbled upon the store while in the area for brunch and it's a corner shop that you can't miss since they've got cakes and tiramisu written on the outside of the store. Really like how fast paced the place is and how eye catching everything is. Prices and names of items are clearly labelled so you can be in and out in no time or take forever to decide which one item you want to walk out with (yep, I was the latter). I don't crave bakery type sweets often but when I do want something, will definitely come back here to grab a treat or two since there's so many things that you'll want to try.
google avatar

Priscilla Y.

Yelp
Tried out the cannoli, the hazelnut cake and the hazelnut eclair. The cannoli is definitely the best with a light crispy shell and creamy custard. The hazelnut cake was not very good with the cake being a little bit grainy and the middle layer of buttercream was greasy. The flavour of hazelnut was a hidden beneath the sweetness as well. The hazelnut eclair was not bad but the shell was a little soggy. Overall go for the cannoli!
google avatar

Ngan N.

Yelp
Small bakery with really good desserts. The cannoli was crispy, perfectly baked and the truffle ball thicc, really sweet though. Would come back.

Yelp
10 months later we were back in Vancouver and because we were at the Italian deli next door, we wanted to pop in and give Fratelli Authentic Italian Baking another shot. And I'm glad we did. This time we enjoyed everything that we ordered. The cookies however, are good, but they're just good cookies. Buttery and delicious; not worth $1.50 in my opinion. What was really good was the nut bar slice. I don't recall what it was called, but it's a triangle with a crust and pressed nuts and coconut in it and then topped with chocolate; REALLY good. As were the brownies and the eclairs. I'm glad we went back - and will keep coming back whenever we are in country.

Yelp
A day that I will never forget! I went to Vancouver for a week vacation. After paddle boarding, we decided to find some treats. We found this pastry shop in yelp and decided to try after checking the reviews. It was closing when I arrived (I didn't notice) but the owner was really nice, he came back and asked me to go in and open the store just for me before leaving. (I don't know where else to go if he didn't do that) Anyway, besides the awesome treatment, PASTRIES were AMAZING. Lot's of varieties to choose from. And the sweetness is just right. It was really an AWESOME experience. I hope I can find a shop like this in my province.

Yelp
Italian desserts? Sounds good! I stopped by on the weekend and picked up a bunch of different pastries. Everything was okay, but the puff pastry canoli filled with custard was my favorite. I would definitely return for this. The guy working there was really nice and helpful too!
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
Cannoli one of my favorite Italian desserts. Ever since my buddy Rino got me hooked in Toronto, it is the only Italian pastry I look forward to having regardless of my diabetic challenges or not. I would starve myself all day to reduce my blood sugars just to have one freshly made. Which I've only had in Toronto. A place accross a certain restaurant where the day after a Mafia mob shooting happened. But I'd still risk going back to that area. Well this is Vancouver and far away from any Mafia but I swear there is something sinful about their Sicilian cannoli that has a rich past. They're smaller and pack a nice crunch against the soft sweet filling. If you've never had one before. Try one. I always go there to get my sugar rushing fix when my blood sugar is low. Oh My!
google avatar

Magui M.

Yelp
I ordered a chocolate cake at the New Westminster location for a birthday present, but I was very disappointed about the taste of the cake. I was expecting a moist, fluffy, and light cake, free of dryness. Unfortunately, it was dry; the appearance of the cake was fabulous, the icing was okay. The best part of this store is the staff, they are always friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Alexandra S.

Yelp
My dad used to take me every Saturday for bread and pastries, and now that he's gone and I've moved to Vancouver, I've been carrying on the tradition with my own family. The potato bread is to die for, as well as all of the pastries!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this Italian bakery!! They have a wide variety of pastries and sweets. Big and small. I can't name them all here. If you love European sweets, you should visit this bakery and check it out. One of my coworkers bought a box of pastries and sweets. We all loved them. Even the ones who are super healthy or health conscious could not resist the pastries and sweets!! They were just so good and delicious!! If you eat them, you cannot worry too much about calories or fat. I would like to give them a "LIKE"!
google avatar

Yvonne L.

Yelp
Everything here is so good!!! The desserts are smaller size, so u get to buy and try more kinds. The coconut macaroon was so moist inside. Brownie and chocolate truffle bar were rich and smooth. French eclair and chocolate eclair were good too, creamy, but not overly sweet. Chocolate stuffed croissant was super delish after we had it heated up in the over for a min or two, crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside.

Yelp
For Father's Day dinner, we were in charge of getting desserts. We were in the area and decided to buy a dozen assorted pastries for $32. The selection was plentiful. Their puff pastries and eclairs were the best of the bunch. I found the cake squares to be a tad on the dry side.
google avatar

S C.

Yelp
Pistachio slice - the buttercream layer is lightly sweet with little taste of pistachio, but the sponge layer is full of bits of nuts. Hazelnut ganache - it's sweet but you can taste the hazelnut. The Rum ball and the Irish Cream ball both are bitter with liquor taste, but the Rum ball tastes stronger.

Bea K.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the treats and the servers were really kind! they are super safe with covid snd have great prices even with the incredible quality!

Yelp
I've been a customer of Fratelli's for about 6 years now. I don't know why I'm just now creating a review but... here it is! I do love this place. I had a French eclair today and it was so delicious! Come to think of it, I also had a cannoli. I'm sure I'll be 5 lbs heavier tomorrow. Oh well! If you're looking for something that will be consistently good at this place, get a cheesecake. Any kind. They are heavenly. I do agree with the other Yelpers in that the staff can sometimes have attitude problems. However, they do have the potential to be nice because I've witnessed it before.
google avatar

Yelp
Bought a few things from this food truck when they were at my school. Tons of variety and everything looked high quality. Furthermore, the prices were actually decent and less than somewhere like Starbucks. I had a sausage roll and cookie which were both much better than expected. They also let you hear the items up upon request which I would definitely recommend. Looking forward to trying more delicious pastries and coffee very soon! The staff was also very friendly and quick! A solid 8.5/10.

Yelp
I wish I can admit this place was a perfect find, a gem on Commercial Drive. But Fratelli is already well-established, a popular dessert shop. Talk about large lunch crowd! Needless to say, it is definitely worth the wait. It is quit a small shop, there is a long dessert case that is packed. Goodies galore!! There are so many options it was difficult to control ourselves. Just to name a few: eclairs, lemon bars, sicilian canolis, cakes, loaves of bread, etc. Seriously, how can one narrow down what they want??! The options are endless, but whatever you decide to order will be scrumptious. Everything was ordered was delicious. Fresh, sweet and packaged neatly in a box. There a couple of tables and chairs right outside the place. So why wait until you get home if you can just gobble your dessert(s) outside =)

Yelp
Went into this bakery without high expectations -- not because I didn't think they were good, but because my mom and I saw it was close by and thought we'd stop off to pick up some pastries as a birthday present for someone! The lady who served us was so sweet! We picked out a dozen pastries, and when asked, told us what was in them! Plus, they had a ton of selection-- eclairs, cream puffs, mini cheesecakes, mini cake squares, lemon meringue tarts, tiramisu tarts, rocky road bars, and more! I purchased one of their "Love" Valentine's Day heart cookies and they were so good! The icing was to die for. Kind customer service and amazing pastries! I'd definitely visit this bakery again

Yelp
My family always has St. Honore cake for our celebrations! In search of one close by for an anniversary dinner I tried Fratelli's and I was NOT disappointed! I ordered the cake a couple days ahead, and when I went to pick it up, there was a line outside - classic indication this place is good! I also got a half dozen pastries and everything was delicious! The dessert was exactly what I wanted! The bakery has a great selection of delicious treats and was reasonably priced. Will be going back again for sure! Everyone at the anniversary party LOVED the cake!
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
They have really great cakes, cannoli and other baked goods but the staff are the worst. If you stop next door for a sandwich this place is next on the list for desert but just be prepared for a bit of attitude or unorganized customer service.
google avatar

Rainer O.

Yelp
One of the best bakery in The Drive area. They have various homemade cakes and cookies but my favourite was the coconut cookie (I forgot what's it called). I also bought Triple Berries Pie which also awesome! Definitely a place to go to when you're the area!
google avatar

Dru C.

Yelp
I was wondering around Commercial street for an Auethntic bakery and I struck this place, recommended by a person walking down the street. She said that the bakery down the street has amazing bakery goods. I went into the store and it had an amazing atmosphere of Italia. I love the culture and the patriotism behind this bakery. It really pulls me into the culture a lot. I looked at their baerkery goods and it looked amazing. I ordered a bunch of treats for myself, and cakes, and some biscotti and some bread. I went home and enjoyed them. It was amazing. Their bread is nice and soft, and dry enough to be bread. The sweet tarts and cakes are very sweet and savory. I enjoyed their biscotti the most though. I will totally go back again to try their other breads and pastries. The people who worked there were extremely nice too.
google avatar

Seda U.

Yelp
I'm a pastry nut and love stopping by here to grab authentic Sicilian canolis and hazelnut eclairs. Prices are reasonable and service is attentive, efficient and polite. It's rare to find such a fresh and varied selection at this price point and I love sampling a new treat each time. I also adore their cute take away boxes and open kitchen concept.

Yelp
Disappointed, I was in the area and looking for a bake shop to buy a cake some and I as I am searching online, I came across with this bakery and read the reviews so I didn't think twice and headed there so excited as to what they have. When I came in there was only 1 customer before me, and the female staff served me and I got the feeling that I am not welcome, I ordered a bunch of different pastries to try on and didn't miss to get the creme brulee which is my favorite and I got the choco lava cake because I am curious on how they tastes since both are quite expensive for a small portion/size that costs $7.50. I go really excites for these two to try it first bite of the choco lava cake I was very disappointed the cake tastes stale and I was expecting the legit lava cake with the chocolate oozing from the middle so I threw it in the microwave for 30 seconds just to see that choco from the middle and was hoping the cake would soften up but it didn't. Next I tried the creme brulee again was super excited thinking it must be very special and must really tastes extraordinarily for the price but naaahh it's just an average creme brulee nothing special.

Yelp
This place is like bakery heaven. My mouth was watering looking at all the confections on display. The devil tempted me and I was happy to take a bite out of the "apple" from the "tree of knowledge". Forgive me father, for I have sinned. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I wanted to thank the staff at Fratelli's for their AMAZING customer service. We ordered a cake for pick up on Christmas Eve from the Commercial Drive location but we mistakenly ordered from their New West site. My husband went to pick up the cake from Commercial Drive and was informed that the cake was at their New West location. Instead of making us feel like it was our fault / problem, the lovely staff confirmed what cake we ordered and recreated the writing on the cake. In 5 minutes, they had a replacement cake ready to go. What customer service. Instead of making us drive to New West, they had a cake For us even though it was our mistake. WOW. That's all I have to say. There products are amazing but their customer service is what will keep their business thriving and successful. All the best for 2021 Fratelli's. My family appreciates you and will support our local businesses (like yours) for years to come.

Clara C.

Yelp
Oh Fratelli's I want to love you, everything looks so old school scrumptious in your refrigerated display cabinets. Your staff usually seem friendly and helpful. Too bad I don't love my baked goods tasting synthetic and full of artificial flavouring. 3/5 simply because everything I've had so far from your lovely store tastes chemical.
google avatar

Laura Z.

Yelp
They call themselves 'authentic' but they don't do all of their own baking! I loved the chocolate fudge cake squares they served so I asked them if they could make the same as a cake for my son's birthday. They said no, it had to be a different kind of chocolate recipe for the cake. I thought that was weird but whatever and ordered the cake which was good but not fudgy like the squares. A couple if weeks later I was in Nesters and in their bakery the had what looked to be the identical chocolate fudge squares in plastic containers. The even had exactly the same decorations on top. I bought one and it tasted the same. I looked at the packaging and it was made made by some company in Richmond. At least Nesters is honest. Fratellis makes a lot of yummy things. They just don't make all of it themselves.

Yelp
We visited today to order an Italian Wedding Cake based on reviews here and elsewhere. They told us that they would be closed for 2 weeks so we asked if the cake could be frozen - not optimal but what can you do? They said it would be fine but when I asked "What about the whipped cream?" (which does not freeze well) they said that it was no problem because although it's called whipped cream it is actually non-dairy - "Whipped Cream" being simply the copyrighted name name of an ersatz oil-based product that they use. Until I asked about freezing, no mention was made of the fact that the whipped cream was not, in fact, real. At this point we politely left and we will not be returning. In my opinion, there is nothing "authentic" about fake ingredients and I have little faith in the rest of the products they use, regardless of how they look.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Came here because of all the positive reviews. I have a huge sweet tooth and I lovee cakes and pastries but wasn't very impressed with the ones here. The little cakes (lava cake, triple chocolate cake, and chocolate cheesecake) I bought were not fresh and tasted incredibly dense. Maybe some people enjoy dense cakes but I prefer light and fluffy. I also expected a better selection of artisan coffees seeing as the place markets itself as "Authentic Italian" but was left disappointed at that too. Lots of room for improvement.
google avatar

Ayla C.

Yelp
I love Fratelli, and the fact that it's steps from my house is both amazing and awful! Any time I need a sweet treat I pop in here and pick something up. The staff are efficient and quick, and the selection is huge! My go-to favourites are the espresso shortbread cookies (chocolate dipped, of course), and the chocolate dipped macaroons. You know, for someone who doesn't like chocolate that much, I sure eat a lot of it from Fratelli!! It's extra delicious! They have full sized cakes and pies as well, and do custom ordering if you're looking for something for a special occasion. They also have whole, but small versions of a lot of cakes and cheesecakes which are extremely tempting! And don't neglect the fresh bread behind the cake counter - they have some amazing flavours there too. It's not super cheap, but these are handmade, home cooked slices of heaven - and well worth the price! Go, eat, fall in love!

Yelp
The pastries in the case looked lovely but the afternoon's mission was to make tiramisu at home so we were looking to buy a loaf of bread to go with our cheese. The person who served us was very affable and explained the different types of bread that were available for purchase late in the afternoon (~3:30 pm). We ended up with a loaf of French bread which unfortunately was really dry, not at all chewy, doughy and nice. Maybe it was an off-day but with so many great bakeries in this city, it's unlikely that I would trust this place again or return to try the cakes.

Yelp
Mission to Eat Vancouver's 101 Best Eats **This is a consolation prize.. but I think still should be recognized!** The Gateau D'Honoure... is a cake made like a giant cream puff.. at least that's what I think! Unfortunately, a medium size cake feeds 5.. and I didn't have 4 others to share with. I asked the lady behind the counter what the "puffs" at the top were.. and she had told me they were Proliferoles (?)... aka cream puffs.. I guess. I bought two of them, thinking that the puff itself should taste similar to the overall cake. The cream puffs were not overly delicate and not overpowerful in sweetness - very surprised and very satisfied. For a small cream puff I felt like it was never ending and very worth trying if you cannot purchase the whole cake yourself for sharing. Oh boy.. if only I could eat all the other goodies :)
google avatar

Shannon F.

Yelp
While the cannoli aren't made using the traditional deep-fried method, they are still wonderfully delicious and worth the trek. Very friendly and cheerful staff. Clean facility and beautiful displays. I want to try everything!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
There's a good reason why I weighed more when I lived on Commercial Drive. Yep! Those were the days before my gluten allergy and boy did I indulge at Fratelli- the canolis, the croissants, the St. Honore....oh boy those were the days. I only go there now when it is my turn to bring the "goodies" for work and even though I can't eat the baked goods anymore, my co-workers are ecstatic when they see the Fratelli box. They do have 2 gluten-free items- both are macaroons, one chocolate-dipped, one plain and I must say they are the best macaroons I have ever had! Oooh, almost forgot, it is a great place to get a custom birthday cake- they can do anything....not cheap, but not outrageous either.

Yelp
Amazing little authentic Italian pastry place tucked into the south end of Commercial Drive. Do not miss it! If you haven't come to try their pastries, then you are missing something in your life! I was just wondering down Commercial Drive this Sunday since I haven't had a chance to truly explore it. And I was captivated by their multitude of art work and sport shirts at the top walls. However, it was the pretty little pastries and smells that brought me into their little shop. I need to start with the mouth watering pastries. You need to come and get a dozen. It will take a lot of self control to just stop at one, or if you did, then a block from walking away from it, it will just make you regret leaving without bringing at least one home. I saw a couple there who said they come here on a weekly Sunday visit. I believe them. I will be that couple- or just me. I had the chocolate eclair with custard filling. Truly amazing! It has been so hard to find ones w custard and I don't like the cream filling. I couldn't even wait for my friend to pick hers, I just dug into mine. The first bite tastes something like the second time you kiss a lover- the first time isn't always the best, but the second time is closer to perfection. This is what that chocolate eclair tasted like- perfection melting custard into my mouth w so much sweetness that it made it unstoppable to not finish it. I was pretty sad when I inhaled it. I know I will dream about it every night till I go again... on Tuesday, hopefully. I had the lemon puff pastry- the cream was so fresh and delicious, it was fluffy and light. Really scrumptious. I will be back. And I hope you are not in front of me in line because I know you too want to get a dozen!

Yelp
Fratelli offers some decent items, although I must confess I prefer some other Italian bakeries like Italia on Hastings (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/italia-bakery-vancouver) and Calabria on Victoria (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/calabria-bakery-vancouver). If you are really addicted to Fratelli's offerings though, the little known all you can eat buffet downtown at the Law Courts serves up a selection of Fratelli's desserts on most days that you can enjoy: http://www.yelp.ca/biz/law-courts-inn-restaurant-vancouver I suggest calling in advance though to make sure they are on offer that day, as the buffet is pretty mediocre overall otherwise.
google avatar

Hanna C.

Yelp
my search for vancouver's best almond croissant ends here. flaky but firm, made with REAL almonds (the filling appears to be crushed, not paste), and baked to perfection. MMM. other items here always look fabulous, but i'm a creature of habit. oh and good espresso, they know how to do pull a proper allongee.

Yelp
Oooh a new bakery (for me anyway)! I was drawn in by the cupcakes because they looked so pretty!! I settled on the black forest and the raspberry mousse. They're $2.75 each. And they were surprising with some custard/bavarian cream in the center! Well the black forest was a chocolate cupcake with chocolate custard in the center. I liked the chocolate one the best because it tasted like a homemade chocolate cake, but was still really moist in the center (unlike Cupcakes http://www.yelp.ca/biz/cupcakes-vancouver-2#hrid:xSMYPyD9Z73djRvopmDW_Q/src:self). I'm not sure that I'm really a fan of the surprise filling. I think the cupcakes could have also been more exciting. Raspberry mousse was just a white cake with raspberry cream frosting a fresh raspberry on top. I also got a fruit tart, blueberry tart, and a mini canolo. The tarts were tasty... but they're so easy to make. They look really cute though! The canolo wasn't quite as good as the ones I had in Italy, but i shouldn't compare. On the other hand, it was pleasant that the filling tasted orange-y and had dry fruits inside. And it stayed crispy after a day later in the fridge. But at $1.99 each (canoli and tarts), it wasn't as fantastic as I was expecting them to be. Overall, the pastries I had were ranging from okay to delicious. I would definitely try them out again because they look so pretty! But I would try different pastries. I think I would search further for a more authentic Italian bakery (perhaps the ones Marc D. suggests)..

Yelp
When you're on the drive watching your favourite futbol teams battle each other for the title of FIFA World Cup Champions, where else can you find a scrumptious glucose kick that will make your stomach cheer? ...Can't think of any other place? Neither can I. Of course your tummy will be purring, "FORCA ITALIA!" but hey, can you blame it? I've tried many of their cookies, cakes and pastries over the years and I can honestly say that whenever I want to hit-up a bakery, Fratelli comes uno. The other day I (finally) tried Vancouver's critically acclaimed best cake- Fratelli's Saint Honore cake. It can be made with or without alcohol- which is hugely appreciated as I ordered the latter. I cannot tell you how many people approached me after they had a slice of heaven and asked where I had purchased said cake, followed by many chimes of, "hands down, the best cake I have ever had." I wholeheartedly agreed and convinced more than half of them that I had the cake Fed-Ex'd from Italy... before I gave them the Vancouver address, that is. I love how you can see where they bake, as well- that's just me and my curious ways though. I'll never forget one of the chefs who had "retired" and they hung his chef jacket with his favourite number from the roof for all of the customers to see- I wish they had kept it up there. You should definitely checkout their website because they have the most elaborate cake-decorating I have ever seen. I'm afraid to ask how much they cost, but you can sure bet that if I ever need a fancy 'do cake, I'm going to get it here. Recommended Main Deal: try everything- especially the Saint Honore cake and their birds nest cookies. Score: Mamma... Mia! *kisses her fingers and throws her hand in the air*

Yelp
I was first introduced to Fratelli by a girlfriend years ago. We were both heart broken and often met up to talk about our problems while eating canolis and ganache tarts. lol.. I'm glad that is now over. I still frequent Fratelli for their breads and Italian pastries. They have a huge selection and I always try something new. I have a major sweet tooth so I love dessert. Fratelli pastries are buttery and light. Not as sweet as they may look and always petit to keep you wanting more. Other must tries include: Lemon tarts, Eclairs and the apple caramel tarts. The cookies are ok... I would stick to the pastries. Happy eating! :)

Yelp
In search for something to clear my memory of a bad breakfast experience that morning I ventured into Fratelli. I liked that there was an assortment of desserts and fresh baked breads. I picked up a rustic sourdough baguette (don't really love sourdough, but enjoyed this enjoy to practically eat half the loaf by the time I got home) as well as the multigrain baguette (mental note, if I'm going to buy a baguette I just go for the plain, this was disappointing even though I knew it was better for me...). Now! Onto the sweets, I tried something that would put the mini brownie to shame. How about a bite sized mini apple carmel tart...chewy short bread-like bottom, apple filling, covered with sugar crumble and caramel.........mmmmm enough said.
