Probably my first and last time having fondue ever again! This was by far the worst meal I had in all of Switzerland. Our local Swiss friends brought us here, raved about this place and about how hard it is to get a reservation here, and how a meal like this can't get more Swiss. The night we came, truffle fondue was the pre fixe available so we opted for that and the china fondue... neither of which was good. :c . I was so disappointed.
I could barely taste the truffle in the cheese. Rather, all I could really taste, was the immense, overpowering taste of alcohol/wine. Our Swiss friends told us that the proper way to eat was to only have bread, plenty of black pepper on your plate ready, and cheese. Use the specific utensil for fondue, fork it into bread, dip into cheese, followed by a dip into black pepper. Normally, I love black pepper, but this just fortified the strong taste of alcohol! I could not fathom eating this.
To give this place a second attempt, we also had the china fondue, which we should've known would've been disappointing anyways coming from an ethnic background where this is very normal to have. It was just miscellaneous cuts of meat that you can dip in salted water, followed by a choice of ketchup and various aiolis to dip your meat in. It was so bizarre.
Honestly, the best thing I had here and could stomach was the fries. While I'm all for trying local foods and getting the most local experience, this was such a disappointment. Maybe I just don't have the palette to appreciate Swiss fondue, but this is definitely somewhere I would not come again. Once is enough.
For those of you visiting, don't get me wrong - the place is still very fun for all your photography needs. The restaurant inside gives a very dine-in-a-Cirque-du-Soleil kinda feel and outside, great to hang out at when it's warmer in the summer time. Food though, hard pass for me.
