Basically the only place to camp in Yellowknife. You can walk into downtown from here but it takes around an hour. The campground is huge with lots of privacy between sites. The is only one set of showers and flush toilets but they are situated near the front entrance, the rest are pit toilets located throughout the campground. Staff is excellent and they do have free WiFi in the camp entrance building.

Do know, you will hear the planes at the airport and cars on the main road all night long. That being said i still loved the campground! The camping spots have walls of trees between them for privacy. Showers are no longer free. 1 loony (loonie?) runs about 5 minutes and the water is lukewarm. Only bummer is that they close the beach at 10:30pm and it's not open until later in the morning. So no sunrise pictures over the lake or swims or open space to watch the northern lights.

Very nice place to enjoy a day out of the city while still in its proximity. There are 2 different parts of the park: the day access and the night one. The night one is more for camping and requires reservations (even for 1person tent) at least 2 days in advance. At same time it has all required facilities for a night sleep (washrooms, water, electricity...). The area is locked at night from the day area by a fence. The day area is open 24h/day with WCs, drinking water, tables, paddock, parking areas. The place is indeed great for a swim during summer or enjoying the midnight sun in june/july. Just remember to clean after you leave!

Went to this park for the first time for a work fun afternoon event BBQ. Beautiful building to set your food up and get out od the sun if needed. I would give it a 5 rating if they had flush toilets .There is a beach for people to swim and hang out. Many people boating and paddle boating when I was visiting. Lovely place and I am guessing it is packed jammed on the weekends and when it is hot out.

Very large and fairly private campsites on the rocks of the Canadian Shield. There is a lovely hike - but wear good shoes or boots.

Had a great stay at Fred Henne Park. The speed bumps are as annoying as ppl say but much safer for the kiddos so we were cool with it and not in a hurry. Bathrooms and showers could use some renos.

This beach is a beauty but parking is scarce. Really nice open sand beach - wide and inviting. Nice playground for little ones. Filthy toilets at beach parking lot - always unclean!! Garbages overflowing even when no one is there midweek. Lots of staff but...not cleaning toilets or pcking up garbage overflow even in peak season. Boat ramp close by.

I'm not from YK so the adjustment to the area has been a challenge but when I found Fred Henne I found a happy place. The views are gorgeous, I love it here
