A wonderful hidden gem in Malibu. We have seen many wonderful exhibits over the years. We just saw To Bough and To Bend exhibit. Almost always open before shows at Pepperdine Center of the Art Smothers Theater. Admission is free. My favorite show ever was the California Art Club and the Plein-Aire exhibit. 💙🧡

Awesome! The Rodin sculpture exhibit was spectacular and educational. I learned a lot, and took in some beautiful and sensual sculpture.

I just saw the To Bough and To Bend exhibit. It was nice. I really enjoyed the works there and thought it was a good and thoughtful presentation. Great museum. I definitely recommend visiting. Also, the campus is just gorgeous so that's an extra benefit.

Yelp
This is my first time visiting Frederick R Weisman Museum of Art (FRWMA). This cute little building is situated inside of the beautiful campus of Pepperdine University in Malibu. I've been to and driven by this beautiful campus gazillion times, but never knew about this museum (my bad that I never paid attention). I am a big fan of Andy Warhol's works. When I heard that some of his greatest works will be displayed at the FRWMA, I just had to pay a visit to this beautiful campus in the city of Malibu (who wouldn't right?). This free exhibit started in January and will end sometime in April. If you are interested, please call the school and they will guide you with all the details. It's open daily except Monday (please check) , however I was told that it is easier to find parking on weekends than weekdays (parking was also free this past Sunday). This was a beautiful exhibit of Andy's art work. I had a great time and so will you (if you appreciate his art work!!). I highly recommend it. Don't miss it, GO!!

Yelp
38/100 reviews Challenge for 2017 Best location for a museum I mean, wowsers..THAT VIEW!! 5/5 Stars Pepperdine 5/5 Stars location (Malibu) 5/5 Stars Museum 5/5 Stars Service 5/5 Stars Ambiance and View 5/5 Stars Parking This show ended in 2013 however I wanted to share my love for it. This show was incredible because Frederick Weisman Museum of Art offered a rare opportunity to step back into 20th century history for a timely "illustration" of the influences that shaped America socially, economically and politically. I know that the period from the 1890s through the 1930s was the Golden Age of American Illustration. The rapid rise of popular magazines created a new audience for art, the American public, and a new demand for illustrations. I needed to see one of the country's premier collections of historic American illustration, this exhibition featured original paintings by legendary artist such as Howard Pyle, N. C. Wyeth, J. C. Leyendecker, and Norman Rockwell OMG!! But my all time favorite American artist is Howard Pyle, because he is considered to be the father of American illustrators. But Norman Rockwell had an act for capturing mood, anger, love ,and indifference within a single image. Back then as illustrators, the goal was to capture as much of a story as possible within one image, and these amazing artists were the masters of it. The show was awesome because it displayed one of my all-time favorite painting's, a superb Saturday Evening Post cover by Norman Rockwell, "Dreaming of Adventure." Which depicts a mousy, middle-aged clerk working at his worn desk, a picture of a galleon in sail behind him. The faraway gaze on his face tells us all we need to know about his life. Do you know that Norman Rockwell produced 321 covers for the Saturday Evening Post! Ja! That's a lot! I could go on an on However Ill stop here. Location:A+ Nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of gorgeous Malibu on the campus of Pepperdine university. It truly has a priceless view, with the Pacific ocean at the bottom of the hill and billion dollar homes being caressed by the warmth of the sun. The campus is beautiful and must be a dream to attend for the countless students that study here. I was told that 80% of students are female whoa!!! Why didn't I come here for college ja! The gallery A+ It's a simple, well lit, and well ventilated two story building. It's has plenty of room to walk around to enjoy the art. Parking A+ Parking is right next to the gallery. Pay parking is $5 Employees:A+ They were very helpful and kind. Security:A+ They also were very kind and professional. Sadly: This show is over it was in 2013 but I wanted to share the photos I took at that show. But on the good side, they are always having artshow just go to their website.

Yelp
I remembered there was a museum on the Pepperdine campus while I was passing one Sunday, so I stopped. It's towards the front of the campus and both parking and admission were free. The first floor consisted of canvas paintings depicting everything there is to love about Southern California beaches. Every painting I fell in love with was of a place I had visited and photographed myself. I loved the paintings of the lifeguard stations. The second floor was a mix of mediums. In addition to more canvas paintings, there were watercolor paintings and sculptures, all capturing bits of Los Angeles. You just felt at home. Similarly, I loved the paintings of the two elderly people. Great 30-minute detour. Don't miss the surrounding outside sculptures too.

Yelp
This is a two-story art exhibit with about three distinct galleries. Entry is free and there are occasional talks concerning the art and artists. From time to time they get good collections in here, but usually it is so-so.

Yelp
A small, free art museum on the Pepperdine campus. There's parking close by which you can access with a token from the guard at the gate. The exhibition rotate and I've heard of some world-class artists on display here such as Lichtenstein. I recently stopped by to see the Chuck Close exhibition. There's the first floor and second floor to view the pieces. I would occasionally check from time-to-time to see what's on display and make it part of your day in Malibu.

Yelp
Small art museum with three galleries on two floors. On par with other small universities. 10-minute visit with free entry. Before going, check that the museum has an exhibition on display. $6 parking at the lot adjacent to the museum and theater, but free parking if willing to walk the steep campus slopes.

Yelp
Great museum! I took my parents here recently and they really liked it. Free entry and parking (ask security for the parking chip) and the view really can't be beat. It's pretty small and doesn't take more than 45 minutes to see/read everything, so I definitely would pair it with going to the beach or getting lunch if you're bringing visitors here. Even though it's small, the exhibits they bring are really incredible.

Yelp
Small Museum but worth it because the art is great (well at least when I was there it was....), the entrance is free and the location can't be beat. Beautiful views and artwork.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem - a free museum/art gallery in the midst of Malibu. You can park for free on campus, then stroll over to the lovely gallery which has a two story exhibit space. After you indulge in some culture, there is a cafeteria which has some passable food. But the big draw is to sit outside and enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and the coastline.

Yelp
I haven't actually been here yet! Got this confused with the Weisman Art Foundation and Yelp won't let me delete my review so I edited to be honest about my mistake!!
